All the time
This is a tuna with bacon
This is true love we're making indeed~ ...Though that'll end once God Rugal enters the fray! Capcom players will know SNK players' pain through him! X'D
AHA! Thought I didn't have any facts for Capcom vs SNK, did you? I decided to reserve the facts about the Capcom vs SNK duology in the best playing game, CVS2! CVS1 may be the best presentation wise but this game is the best gameplay wise and... That's usually the most important factor (You KNOW Max loves MVCI less because of the presentation and more about the gameplay, so that says a LOT).
- The story for the CVS series is... well Capcom and SNK fighters just...co-exist in this world! However, this seems to be the first time Capcom and SNK fighters are meeting each other as they've certainly heard of each other (as Geese mentions if you fight him in CVS1 and as Rugal/Akuma mention in the CVS2 Special Final Bosses).
- Rumor has it that the birth of CVS involved misinformation in a game magazine called "Arcadia". KOF '98 and Street Fighter Alpha 3 released around the same and the magazine titled apparently read "KOF vs SF". People thought this was an official game on the horizon but that wasn't true. However, it appeared that as a result of this, Capcom and SNK signed a deal for both companies to make two crossover fighting games involving each other's respective fighters. Again, this is only a rumor and not exactly confirmed official (unless someone can confirm that?) so take what I say with a grain of salt.
- From Capcom, they made Capcom vs SNK: Milennium Fight 2000 and Capcom vs SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001 (or known in japan as CVS2: Millionaire Fighting 2001). From SNK, they made SNK vs Capcom: The Match of the Milennium for the Neo Geo Pocket Color and, in 2003, SNK vs Capcom: SVC Chaos (yes that's the title) for the Neo Geo. Let's be real, the CVS series was the more popular of the two.
- As part of the "contract", the company that makes the game gets the profit. So while Capcom vs SNK duology was clearly the popular of the other two SVC games, Capcom received most if not ALL the profit, which did not help SNK's financial issues. On the bright side, the games were more than likely responsible for introducing many Capcom players to the SNK fighters.
- The "contract" stated that the companies needed to make FIGHTERS. However, SNK managed to get around this by making a side series called SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters. I know VERY little about these, btw, but I do know they made three games, with SVC: Card Fighters DS being not only the last game in the Card Fighters series but also the last game to be a SNK and Capcom collab game... I think there's a card in Card Fighters DS with Kula receiving a piggyback from Guile? XD
- CVS1 received an update called CVS Pro, but it's exclusive to Japan sadly. This version adds in Joe Higashi and Dan Hibiki, does some balance adjustments, new modes to play, and even gives new moves to the already existing characters not available in the last version.
- CVS2 received an update called CVS2 EO (Easy Operation/Extreme Offense in the US). Unlike last game, the only changes to this update are some balance updates, the removal of the "Roll Cancel glitch", some small additions to the Grooves (for the P Groove, you can now cancel special moves into super combos which is something you could do in the SFIII series), and the EO system. The EO System is notorious for being completely... Well, easy. Basically, if you have this on, you can do special moves at the flick of the right analog stick (or C-Stick for GameCube).
- In both CVS games, Rugal fights in his suit completely. The last time Rugal fought in his suit was in KOF '94. Since then, you'd find him with his coat off. Strangely, a lot of Rugal's move names are CENSORED. For example, Rugal's Genocide cutter is called Destroyer Cutter in the list and Rugal doesn't even SAY the name. He just...does it!
- There are plenty of fun interactions between the various fighters of CVS1 and especially CVS2. For example, Rugal and Guile have a special interaction referencing the fact that there was a statue of Guile seen in KOF '94, implying that he was one of the fighters Rugal liquified after beating him (though don't take this seriously, it's just a fun reference)... Though does that mean that Rugal lied about beating Guile and he just had a statue of him just to feel good about himself? XD (Again, don't take this seriously)
- Hon Fu (from Fatal Fury 3) appears in Chun-Li vs Yamazaki intro. Hon Fu and Yamazaki are "rivals", after all. But as usual, he's treated as joke as he claims that he'll help Chun-Li (an interpool officer) capture Yamazaki... but Yamazaki just snake punches him and forces him to run off.
- In both CVS games, there were specific art for the character selection depending on which playstyle you chose: Capcom or SNK. On the Capcom side, the character art is drawn by Kinu Nishimura of Capcom fame, and on the SNK side, the character art is drawn by EX-SNK employee Shinkiro (who would eventually move to Capcom following SNK's bankruptcy). Which is your favorite?
- In CVS1, M. Bison and Geese are the main antagonists (with Akuma, Morrigan and Nakoruru being secret fights in the Arcade Mode). In CVS2, M. Bison and Geese are downgraded to mid-bosses while Akuma and Rugal appear as the "main antagonists"... In a twist, there's a possibility that you won't even fight one of the two if you don't play well enough. There's a chance you can fight regular Akuma or regular Rugal, but play well enough, and you might fight Shin Akuma or the dreadful God Rugal (known as Ultimate Rugal internationally).
- Shin Akuma's appearance technically debuted in CVS2. Lemme explain: The form, Shin Akuma, debuted in Street Fighter Alpha 2, yes. But the appearance usually associated with "Shin Akuma" came from CVS2, with the inclusion of white hair, even darker skin, darker clothes, and the kanji on his back changing (this same kanji would be used for Akuma's SFV appearance... even Shin Akuma appears in SFV as a Bonus Fight in the Arcade Modes of the SF2 and SF4 paths... he was a fight money event prior to this).
- In CVS2, Shin Akuma gets his appearance from absorbing Rugal's orochi power (hence the white hair as Omega Rugal gets white hair upon powering up). Upon defeat, he's on the death's doorstep, but black spirits (possibly Orochi) take him away and encourage him to get stronger.
- God Rugal makes his one and only appearance in CVS2 (well, he also appears in SVC: Card Fighters 2, but details~). This is the result of Rugal merging the Satsui no Hado with the Orochi power, granting Rugal incredible strength and enhanced powers. Capcom players not familiar with SNK Bosses will surely understand how SNK players feel fighting God Rugal. He even has his own version of the "Raging Demon" attack! Upon his defeat, Rugal literally does what he did in KOF '95: He tries to tap more power than he can take. Unlike last time where he dies from it, the Satsui no Hado TAKES OVER RUGAL, creating an entirely different character who's similar to Akuma in terms of motives. This iteration of Rugal leaves, desiring to get stronger with the Satsui no Hado. Weeeeird.
- In Capcom vs SNK 2, some long time missing fighters from the Capcom side return like Eagle from the very first Street Fighter, Maki from Final Fight 2, and Kyosuke from Rival Schools. Final Fight and Rival Schools take place in the same universe as Street Fighter, by the way. Yun from SFIII and Rolento from Final Fight appear too. Strangely enough, these guys (except Kyosuke) appear in the PSP port of Street Fighter Alpha 3 (called SFA3 Max)...and they use the same sprite as CVS2! Yeah, YUN appears in Alpha 3 MAX! Obviously, this is non-canon because the Alpha series is after SF1 but BEFORE SF2. Yun is from sF3 which takes place well after SF4 and SF5.
- On the SNK side, we've got plenty of newcomers: Rock Howard of Fatal Fury, Haohmaru of Samurai Shodown, Ryuhaku Todoh from AOF1 (Kasumi, his daughter, appears sometimes with him), Chang & Choi together (like Ken and Koromaru from Persona 4 Arena Ultimax), Athena Asamiya in her '94 or '95 look (I can't tell. O_O), and Hibiki from The Last Blade 2.
- Goro Daimon, a classic Japan Team member, may appear if you pit Kyo and Benimaru against each other.
- Here's a fun fact: K' from KOF and Alex from SF appear in SVC for the NGPC... but ONLY if you put the cartridge in the original Neo Geo Pocket (which, y'know, lacks color) as part of one the many error screens, such as one where Kyo (in his NESTS Saga outfit) playing the Pocket Color with Iori not caring, one with Chizuru and King telling you "Sorry!", Kaede of Last Blade playing with Lilith from Darkstalkers, and Li Xiangfei cutely and angrily trying to play this game on the Pocket with Chun-Li doing her usual cute taunt animation. SNK had fun with this so they made these error screens just in case you made this error. You're supposed to play SVC on the Pocket Color not the Pocket! >w0
- I think I know the joke behind the K' and Alex error screen: K' and Alex were both new main protagonists for their respective games (KOF '99 and Street Fighter III)...and both of them don't appear in the game proper~! (Though Alex does cameo in the Nairobi Stage from CVS2 alongside Falcon from Power Stone, Leona, Ralf, Clark, and Heidern).
That's all for now! ...I know if I split these up between the CVS1 and CVS2 videos, they would've been dreadfully short...and I like making these long. TwT
Alex McNeill nobody is going to read all of this
@@Joshdagod97 My past comments on the videos disagree with you~

To answer your question, Max, Millennium Fight was the original CvS. (Full title: Capcom vs SNK: Millennium Fight 2000.) In regions outside of Japan, CvS2 was known as *Capcom vs SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium.* (Whereas SvC's full title, on the Neo Geo, was SNK vs Capcom: SVC Chaos. This is the game where I got to know Terry Bogard himself. A friend of my brother lent him his CvS2:EO copy for the gamecube and I remember playing it when my brothers where at school. Back then I knew jack on how fighting games worked (6 buttons, command inputs, I knew nothing), however this game had that GC style thing where using the C-Stick would let you do command inputs on the fly, so I always used that. It wouldn't be until Marvel VS Capcom 3 where I had more formal knowledge on how fighting games even worked (Thanks to Max, actually) and I recently came back to CvS2 with more formal knowledge to ACTUALLY learn how to play this game (because Terry in smash and all).
Speaking of Terry, back then I don't know why I liked terry so much but I did. I eventually named my dog Terry because of this (He passed away a couple of years back), I remember him fondly.
