I own a Comp Orange 04 GT so to say that this whole series got the gears turning would be an understatement. Yours turned out amazing and is a huge motivator to see what mine would look like without peeling clear coat... Thanks LMR for the awesome content and being the place to turn for Mustang Info and Shopping!
You all did a excellent job!! Car is beautiful!! Congratulations on having a restored car that you can enjoy and appreciate all the work that was put into it! Another Mustang saved!!!
Nice score. Competition Orange looks really great on these cars. I just got a V6 too (what I wanted) but it's a faded Laser Red, best red Ford used by also the most faded and can't really be duplicated unless I want to spend $6000 and that ain't happening!
Appreciate you sharing this in-depth restoration, it gives me hope. I got my late father's 2003 Tropic Green GT down to my house this year, and am about to start restoring/building it in his honor. 85,xxx miles and needs some love, but this video series is a good guide of how to approach things. Thanks again and congrats on your restoration!
@@iworkhard2013 man I would love to get ahold of a Mystichrome, they are my fav. I had an 04 Screaming Yellow convertible Terminator a while back, loved it. Unfortunately not a lot of progress on my side to update on. I got an SLP Loudmouth 2 catback installed, gathered the Hurst shifter/bar/knob, and have some small items like new LED interior lights and dash face, but that is about it. We just found out we are going to have a baby so all mods are on hold for the time being.
I have a similar story with mine. I bought my 2002 GT Mustang back in 2007, I think I was the third owner. Had it for about 4 years or so. Did some basic things to it, wheels exhaust etc. then I sold it in 2011. I sort of regretted selling it after that, searched for it off and on (new owner was from out of state) and eventually found it again and bought it back. It's currently in the process of getting a coyote swap with a T-56 from a 2004 cobra (I bought the car back as a roller). But more or less I'm making the car look pretty much like it did before I sold it. It had a lot of sentimental value to me (I had the car through my first overseas deployment to Iraq). Nostalgia is a hell of a motivator lol.
Mine is a 99 it’s getting painted and body work done to it. I had it since 2014 I got it from a junkyard and now I can say it’s the best vehicle I own.
I would have sourced a 99 4v na cobra engine and cleaned it up/replace anything that needs replacing, tremac t56 6 speed swap and sourced 99 or 01 cobra gauges. I loved every single wheel it had on there even the stock wheel. I will say that stock wheel is my favourite for older mustangs.
I just got a 2000 mustang gt. it runs amazingly but it needed some body and interior work. I catch myself binge watching mustang videos and restoring them.
I have a 2004 GT convertible with 5spd. The color is RedFire with the same dark charcoal leather interior. Mine has 155,000 miles, and is in very good shape. Im happy with mine !!
I think you guys hit everything on the mark Orange isn’t really my color of Choice but this video definitely gave me some insight on what to do to my 2003 gt convertible
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. We got to see an ENTIRE build in one showing, none of this "episode" stuff. Great job! Add some boost to that car and it'll be icing on the cake.
I have a 2002 Mustang GT with 225,000 miles on it. It doesn't burn even a drop of oil per oil change/4-5000 miles. I just got done replacing a few coil packs, a throttle positioning sensor, a mass air flow sensor, plugs, oil, wheel bearings on the front and i picked up a set of Michelin tires with 1/2 thread on them for a whopping $40. I do everything on a budget because i just can't afford to pay out the ass for everything brand new and yet the car is in much better working condition, still with very little rust on it. It still needs a few more parts [like a new windshield, a new gas pedal throttle control sensor and maybe some suspension pieces] but i am happy with this car over all and had no idea what kind of car i was even buying when i agreed to buy it. I just needed a car and my other one [a Saturn] blew up on me]. I bought this for $100 a month payments 5 years ago and paid $2000 in total for it. Because i have health problems and the previous owner gave me a deal on it and i have no family members left, i plan on giving him back the car some day in much better condition than when i first got it. Over the months to come i will continue to replace parts like the windshield and suspension as i can get to them in rather slow fashion and someday he most certainly won't regret giving me a good deal on this car as for the fact that he will get it back free and clear in such better condition. I would post a pic of it if i could but you tube don't allow pics here. It looks almost identical to this car!
Replace door windows they are still scratched up. If its a base coat and clear coat paint u can buff and wet sand it the correct way real good to show quality paint job to perfection. Youre car is Amazing i like it alot.
I have a Mineral Grey 01 GT that I built for autocross/roadcourse/canyon carving fun. The brake upgrade to the Cobra/Mach 1 style and a short throw shifter have to be my favorite mods as far as driveability goes. I had a deer choose my car as method of suicide and I had to replace the hood, bumper, and driver fender. I went with the V6 hood and Mach chin spoiler, and took off all the panels to take to the paint shop. Sitting in the driveway with the front body panels off, it looked MEAN
A full out restoration and I would have added a mix of Roush, Saleen and Cobra body parts. A cobra rear bumper with cobra smoothed out, Roush side skirts, Saleen door/quarter panel fake vents Hood of your choice and Roush or Saleen front bumper
I love my 2001 new edge I miss driving it it's been a yr now but hopeful I can get it back on the road soon I miss driving I won't to start taking it to shows
Man im born in 93 and the fox bodies were the first ones i was around daily but I remember being eight or so when they came out and man oh man i loved the first look of the 99 when it came out. I just bought one thats an 02 and im ripping the drivetrain out and im putting a coyote in it
Looks awesome! I totally agree with the spoiler delete. I think these new edge stangs look way better without the spoiler. Would you believe I actually saw someone with a 2001 mustang bullet with the highland green and it HAD a SPOILER that they obviously had installed, because the bullets came without the spoiler. Looked horrible. But this comp orange looks awesome. The only thing I think you should have kept was that special looking gas cap that you had on the car, like the bullet. You painted over it in the competition orange and I think you should have kept that unique looking stainless steel or whatever gas cap and cover etc. But that's just my opinion. Overall the car looks awesome!
You took the scoop and wing off ,thats 2 of my favorite ,no go for me and ,no comp cams no trick flow heads ,no elderbrock,no bbk 78mm tb,and few other things to make her track ready
I absolutely love what you've done with the car however the only thing that I would have changed was the headlights... I have HIDs in my car I did have the factory halogens but the reason that I went with the HIDs is because the factory halogens weren't bright enough and unfortunately I ended up wrecking the front end of my car so I had to have the front end of my car refurbished when I ended up wrecking the front end of my car I actually blew the airbags I decided not to put the airbags back in because it's a muscle car I took the original steering wheel out because it reminded me too much of my truck and I put a three spoke steering wheel in it... I like the three spokes steering wheel because it looks more like the mustang should look... The reason that I did not put the airbags back in I opted out on the airbags is because it's a muscle/sports car it's a V6 3.9 L with a 5-speed manual transmission... Does it have the power of a 5.0 dual cam dual valve? No it does not but she will let you know she's a pony 🐎 now as far as the headlights are concerned if I were you and this is just a suggestion put a set of HIDs in it get a hold of SW lights the guy's name is Sean Wicca he does fantastic work and you can custom make the lights anyway you want them mine were $1,008 dollars but it didn't buy them all at once he actually let me make payments on them and then he sent them to me when you were paid off... I'm telling you I love my lights... It is a complete difference between night and day literally... Yes they are expensive but I'm telling you they are worth their weight in gold much better than those halogens... People do do this but it is actually against the law you can buy HIDs to put in your factory globes but know this it is against the law to have HIDs in your factory globes you must have a projector style globe to put HIDs in as long as you have a projector style globe those are not against the law... Like I said they are more expensive but they are well worth their weight in gold
The OME bumper skin for my 01 GT Deluxe vert was $879 in 2013, someone backed into it with a lift gate van and punched a $25 size hole in it and couldn't be repaired, it does not need be restore yet other then replacing the silver smoked headlights
I've got 99 SVT Cobra Mustang with 64K miles. It's Highly modded everywhere for road course tracking if not racing and looks somewhat stock kinda like a 2000R on steroids but with a lot more performance. Many parts purchased thru LMR, MMM, Steeda, Summit to name just a few... The car is still purposely street legal Haltech ECU with Auto Blip going in presently to help manage engine HP and then it going thru the drive train more effectively keeping the car/tires hooked Up. Aero had to be quite seriously addressed too hence 2000R on steroids and hopefully not too "ricey". Lastly, need to address an ABS upgrade based on hopefully 200 to 40 treadwear tires
I don't have a 2 valve. I have a base model new edge with the 3.8l v6.... but I'd love for it to look stock plus like this gt in Acapulco Blue. Go ahead, and laugh. 😆
I had an 04GT and now a 14GT and I sorta miss my 04. The SN95s get crapped on for lack of power but once you get over not winning races they are great first fun cars. Reliable and plenty quick. My 04 sounded 10x better than my 14 lol. And they noticeable weigh a lot less when you drive them. I actually miss mine and actually found my 14 looking for a mach1.
Dude u can make a new edge quick fairly easy. Just because it dont run 12s from the factory don't mean it can't go 11s or 12s with minor work even na. With boost you can go 10s stock driveline it's been done many times. The problem is everyone judges stuff by horsepower and not how it performs there is alot more to a quick car than how much hp does it have. I have seen new edges go 10s with just over 400 rwhp. They weren't gutted either.
Amazing! Great job by the whole team! I have a '99 Limited Edition black convertible GT automatic. I'd love to restore it. Send me info on where or how to get mine done up like yours!
I wanna do this. As a kid I thought this would be my first car. I’m 25 years old in school and I drive a motorcycle 35 mins every morning in 30 degree weather and 45 mins back. I still haven’t purchased my first car. I could only afford a motorcycle.
It doesn't need a coyote. It's nice to see different routes sometimes. It's not that hard to go quick with a 2v simple forged internals will make one capable of 1000 hp. You also don't need anywhere near 1000 to go very fast in a 2004 mustang. Nice to see clean cars supporting their original engines and doing work.
This car reminds me of my 2000 lightning, boy was it trashed to hell and back. With ALOT of elbow grease and three grand give or take in parts it's half way there, not this nice but it's getting there.
Just bought my first ever car a day or so ago can't wait to register and drive it 2000s v6 auto convertible stock spent $3000 runs and drives insurance has me at about 600 really wish I could've got a gt anyone got tips got modding the 3.8 v6
Yes. This hood is designed for the 99-04 V6/GT front bumper. If this is installed with either an OEM or aftermarket 03-04 Cobra bumper, the underside of the hood will make contact with the bumper pillars. Hope this helps! -Landan
I agree that these new edge stangs look so much better without that ugly spoiler from the factory. I had made a comment about this and everyone was jumping on me in the comments. I guess a lot of people like that ugly thing on the back. To each their own I guess, but my opinion is it's ugly, so good move sir in taking it off and really improving the looks.
Thanks, Paul. Like anything car/truck related, it comes down to personal preference. I've always been a fan of either no spoiler or the 03-04 Cobra spoiler. -Landan
Had an 04 CO GT, but sold it in 2018. Had a Terminator hood, Bullitt side deletes, and a duckbill spoiler (different from the Cobra). Had only 60K miles and was mint! Miss that car...
I recently purchased the series 2 in bronze. The barrel lips don’t seem to be as polished as yours do, or even the pictures on the website. They have a more flat machined look. Im curious if you guys polished these? Thanks!
Ok so, I was gifted my grandfather's 00 gt convertible after he passed and I'd like to do something like this, what's the ballpark range as far as cost and time? I'm nowhere near as knowledgeable so it wouldn't be this in-depth. I still drive it but it needs major work. 205 on the dash, all original. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! Loved the video, love the channel, love mustangs!
It's tough to gauge since we do not know the exact condition of the car. Completely respraying the car and updating the interior, wheels, suspension, and brakes can be very costly. Give us a call, and a customer care representative can assist you with supplying the parts that you need to refresh your New Edge: lmr.com/contact
My brother had a 2003 black one that he bought brand new in 2003 with only four miles on it it was one of the most beautiful cars ever I love New edge Mach ones. He had it for a few years ended up putting about 53,000 miles on it but he was at a stoplight one day and it Toyota Tacoma smacked him in the ass and totaled it pretty much but then changed in total it out they fixed it even though it was like a banana I'm right after that so we ended up selling it and only got about $5,000 for it when he paid $43,000 for it brand new....
As a comp orange cobra owner , I appreciated this video of the old girl being saved
I liked the fact you guys kept it a 2 valve! I love all the v8 engines Ford came out with. But this is a nice build and the detail is great!
YES love to see people saving the New Edge cars finally! That paint POPS
My clearcoat is peeling too 😂😂
I feel that I have an 01 zinc yellow Saleen and the peeling clear coat is killing me
Haha I’ve felt directly with Landen for many years, great and very knowledgeable gentleman! I’m glad to have a Mustang again about 10 years later
You all did a excellent job!! Car is beautiful!! Congratulations on having a restored car that you can enjoy and appreciate all the work that was put into it! Another Mustang saved!!!
ive got a Competition Orange V6 I'm working on right now. pretty excited to get it back in good condition
Nice score. Competition Orange looks really great on these cars. I just got a V6 too (what I wanted) but it's a faded Laser Red, best red Ford used by also the most faded and can't really be duplicated unless I want to spend $6000 and that ain't happening!
@@HAL-dm1eh I'm in the same boat with my orange. Faded and touchups ruined the original coat so it's going to be an expense but it'll be worth it.

How’s the restoration going? If you can post your progress. My father gifted me his Mystichrome 04 terminator. Needs just a little work on it as well.

C.O. Is one of the greatest colors for a muscle car, I love it, who doesn’t love this color 👍🏼 👍🏼
Small world man, I can remember Tyler from back in the cavalier days!! Glad to see your still in Waco and working on the pony!!
It looks perfect, and it looks tough. It brings back a lot of memories from 99'-04'. Now I want a New Edge like never before.
Quality people and an unlimited budget to do it right, anything can be accomplished. Nice result.
Very clean restoration. Not every car has to be built to 1000 hP, just enjoy it for what it is. Come do mine next :)
Those 18” mach 1 wheels are one of the best looking wheels for the new edge platform, I wish I had a set, they are not cheap
If I had the money, Team and resources... Hell yeah! I'd do it. I'm looking at used mustangs now.
Hell yeah, $60K resto and stay under 300hp!
Absolutely incredible work. Freaking night and day! This was awesome to watch. Thank you!
Wow, what a transformation. Great job and it turned out gorgeous
I have a similar story with mine. I bought my 2002 GT Mustang back in 2007, I think I was the third owner. Had it for about 4 years or so. Did some basic things to it, wheels exhaust etc. then I sold it in 2011. As a comp owner I gotta say this build is absolutely perfect
Now we need a SN95 build
I love that you kept it stock 2v. I agree on changing the rims to stage 3 👍🏼
Inspiration for my build has been restored hahaha you guys did an incredible job and I love the build
This Video has Inspired my Build in many ways. Love it!
One week in with my zink yellow 03 Mach1. LMR will be my go to for parts for my build. 130k on her and pulling strong.
GREAT RESTORATION VIDEO AND KEEPING THE 2V ENGINE! I have the same car in Black and this video is making me keep it for good!
I just got a 2000 mustang gt. it runs amazingly but it needed some body and interior work. I catch myself binge watching mustang videos and restoring them.
Awesome transformation; I probably would have kept the Mach 1 or even the 01 Cobra wheels. Way cleaner look 👀
I agree 100%
Just got a set of mach 1 wheels for my 99. Love them. Trying to un hillbilly it from the last owners “mods”. Lol
This car was really nicely restored. Impressive!

Glad we could help with the creation of your GIF. ;)

Looks great! Would like to ask if you upgraded the radiator and did you address the coolant pressure?
Hello Sam - Yes, the radiator was upgraded to one of our SVE 3-row aluminum radiators. We've never had coolant pressure issues with this car. -Landan
Amazing
Now how much to do my Mustang?! 😅
Keep on!
Stang on!
I would have kept the original wheels. Other than that (for me) the rebuild was fantastic.
Love the car! Except the wheels.
I wanna do this. As a kid I thought this would be my first car. I’m 25 years old in school and I drive a motorcycle 35 mins every morning in 30 degree weather and 45 mins back. I still haven’t purchased my first car. I could only afford a motorcycle.
Come on…. Boost !!!
Should have kept that cowl hood looks more aggressive and cobra front bumper. Also would do the chrome wheels but go with Saleens and also lower it
Paint the chin spoiler body color. Fills out the front profile and looks better.
Keeping it on the real,yeah,,,,yall
2v gang!
Clean car! Time for a Coyote swap now
It doesn't need a coyote.
Just bought my first ever car a day or so ago can't wait to register and drive it 2000s v6 auto convertible stock spent $3000 runs and drives
insurance has me at about 600 really wish I could've got a gt anyone got tips got modding the 3.8 v6
Okay but what did you do w the Cowl hood!? I’ll take it LOL
If you use that hood with a 03/04 style bumper will you run into fitment issues
Yes. This hood is designed for the 99-04 V6/GT front bumper. If this is installed with either an OEM or aftermarket 03-04 Cobra bumper, the underside of the hood will make contact with the bumper pillars. Hope this helps! -Landan
how much would it cost to repaint one of these complete because mine is looking pretty bad
Can’t wait to hear about an engine swap😩
What wheels and tires do you have on the car?
Where did you sell it? I just bought one and think it may be the one you are talking about.
@@AustinMathias It was sold in MD
@@mg1822 I bought it from a guy in Virginia
@@AustinMathias I think the buyer was from VA....Does the car have gloss black Rovo's with 295's in the rear?
@@AustinMathias - So it's not the same car...?
someone wanna tell me how much you think that would all be?
I recently purchased the series 2 in bronze. The barrel lips don’t seem to be as polished as yours do, or even the pictures on the website. They have a more flat machined look. Im curious if you guys polished these? Thanks!
Hi Nick, Landan had cleaned the wheels once the car was finished. However, they are the same wheels that we offer on our site.
Is the car lowered?
My brother had a 2003 black one that he bought brand new in 2003 with only four miles on it it was one of the most beautiful cars ever I love New edge Mach ones. He had it for a few years ended up putting about 53,000 miles on it but he was at a stoplight one day and it Toyota Tacoma smacked him in the ass and totaled it pretty much but then changed in total it out they fixed it even though it was like a banana I'm right after that so we ended up selling it and only got about $5,000 for it when he paid $43,000 for it brand new....
i have a '99 honda accord v6 i'd love to volunteer for a lmr
