      @@saltymanos A lumix g85 and its a pain in the ass. Theres no lowpass filter in this camera so moire' is a problem, Im able to reduce it some by setting sharpness to -5 in the "natural" image mode preset and then add mid detail back in edit but the rolling bar shows up unless I lower shutter speed to 20 which causes motion smearing.
      Riggel gets really good results with an iphone and ProMovie recorder app so ill be grabbing an iphone soon i guess lol. Some shots were recorded on my phone as well (lg v60)

    • @saltymanos

      @@LameGaming you can definitely get it done with the g85. There are some things to consider when capturing CRT if your in NTSC you can get much cleaner results when in manual mode and starting off at 60fps in 1080p to match the CRTs 60/50hz depending on what region your CRT is playing at.
      To get past the banding try lowing the CRT brightness if you can’t relief that try lowering the cameras ISO and leave your F/stop at 2.8-4f. Custom white balance to 5000 [K]kelvin temperature. Sorry to throw all that camera tech jargon but I know that camera can deliver.

      @@saltymanos I appreciate the tips but sadly ive already tried all those suggestions. Even bought a $500 prime 15mm f1.7 leica lense to see how it would do. I setup my tripod and spent half of a day in full OCD mode capturing hundreds of clips at different settings while narrating to myself the settings used.
      Your right, 1080p60 at 60 shutter with open aperture , iso 200 to 400 , and sharpness on the sensor turned down gave good results that were smooth and flicker free but every 3-4 seconds that rolling bar would slide down and drove me nuts. I tried all shutter speeds and incriments of 30. Anything above 60 would increase the rolling bars duration, as you get under 30 shutter the bar starts to disapear. At 13 shutter its completely gone but at that low of a shutter its smeary as hell, 20 was a good compromise. 60 should be what works the best but this camera just doesnt sync well with crt frequency for whatever reason. Even tried a tinted glass piece in front of the crt to mask moire 🤣
      I updated the g85 firmware and shot some more as well but the update had no affect. I wish you could make fine adjustments to shutter on this camera 😖
      Oh.... Was in full manual mode with manual focus as well and tried taking clips at dozens of different focus ranges as well. Full peak focus,slightly underfocus, a little more, a little more, etc etc etc lol

    Liked and subscribed! Yo, I have a 27" JVC (and a 32" D series that I forgot why I didn't like enough to put away in the shed). The 27" is just looovely, however focus on teh corners is hella soft. I'd love to have a sweet JVC experience like you got here. Would you RGB mod a tv if it has component already? How would you go about fixing edge focus if you wanted to? Much appreciated, bro!

    • @LameGaming
      @LameGaming  Рік тому +1

      Nah, If its got component already then its 98-100% as good as rgb and wouldnt even bother. I looked for a D-series forever and never found one around here so thats why I grabbed the 36" JVC that didnt have component and rgb modded it.
      I know what you mean by edge focus. You can either have the center super sharp and edges a little soft , edges super sharp and center a little soft, or you can dial it in to look decent across the entire screen but its a trade off. Look on the back of your set by the inputs, should be a slot that lets you access the pots on the flyback. Theres g2 voltage pot and focus, play with it untill you get a happy median..... just dont turn the screen g2 pot by accident lol

    • @mahdiyussuf9804

    • @LameGaming
      @LameGaming  Рік тому +1

      @@mahdiyussuf9804 Just think of screen g2 as a master brightness of the tube. If you have a super dim tube you can increase g2 to give the tube some extra brightness but usually at the cost of washing out the blacks. Increasing g2 too much can overvolt the set and put it in protection mode.

    Great video man!, I have a JVC D-Series AV-36D501, it looks almost identical to yours in the inside, it even has the same tube but mine has component, do you think your exact rgb mod apply to mine too?

    • @LameGaming
      @LameGaming  2 роки тому +1

      You would have to pull up your service manual and/or schematic for jungle/micon..... See if they are the same, the factory circuit pathway from micon to jungle on the board would have to be the same as well. Same caps and resistor values on circuit.... If its an even slightly different board then it would probably change things and I assume it would be since it has component.
      Honestly .... If I would of found a D series with component then I wouldnt of bothered with rgb since component is arguably probably 95%+ on quality of rgb.... I doubt youd notice a difference that would justify the effort honestly.

    • @LameGaming
      @LameGaming  Рік тому +1

      Id definitely mux mod it. The old hack and switch rgb method might sound easier but youd have to run a ton of wires and lose ability to see osd when rgb is active.
      With this set rgb is injected late in the jungles circuitry so none of the menu settings have any effect. I had to use g2 adjustments, and set rgb cutoffs in the service menu to get rgb signal really dialed in..... Muxing allows you to see the osd/service menu while viewing your rgb signal..... Id hate to try to dial things in without that ability, you would have to switch rgb off just to see your menu with the old switch injection method.
      Definitely would go with mux method. Would make an awesome arcade cab tube. I thought about using mine with a mistercade in a cab maybe in the future.
