I did, I bought a bunch of replacement new old stock transistors from ebay and replaced with new thermal paste and had the same issue, then after about 30seconds the HOT shorted and took out the power supply fuse along with the bridge rectifier on the power board and possibly other components :( Either I was unlucky or the transistors are fake, but either way I highly doubt ill ever use another of these. Luckily I found another 20m2u on ebay with a bad tube(one of the color guns out) and no one was bidding so made a deal on just the boards. Previous owner recapped the boards with chongx caps though, so a full recap with quality caps is needed before testing.
Sadly I got burned out messing with it. Its still on the bench but been working 60hrs a week so havnt had time for anything else. I planned to swap the flyback and inducter coils from this onto my my working 14m2u board to get the 20m2u running but not sure if its worth the experiment.
Yes.... I managed to win a bid on a 20m2u with a tube with shot green gun so made him an offer for just the boards to save us both the price and headache of shipping. I know the board works from the photos and it was recapped......but...... Unfortunately it was recapped with "ChongX" capacitors 😭🤦🏻♂️ So..... A full re-recap is in order and just havbt found the time. We just had a bad storm rip through here last thurs and was without power for several days. Also in process of buying a new house so its hard to give any estimate but hope to do some testing soon.
I got another chassis board but the last owner recapped it with chongx cheap capacitors so I need to recap the new board and have not had alot of time after moving and a new job. Hopefully soon
