When I switched from my KRKs to Neumann KH 120s it was life changing. I plugged the KRKs back in and they sounded broken in comparison. I think everyone bought KRKs because of a few big name suggestions and they are affordable. Different ears different monitors whatever works !
4:00 "I decided to switch to the [KRKs] and hear them out. When I hit the button to switch over I was hit with what sounded like the most god-awful mix of my life" 5:00 "If my mixes sounded good on my Amphions they seemed to sound good anywhere I took my mixes" Hmm...🤔
The one15s are great, but you kind of need a full frequency monitor to reference with them, I struggle on them as lone monitors. The low mids are scooped on them in comparison to my Kali IN8 V2's. Although I find them both useful, the one15's for very precision oriented work especially in the highs and high mids, and the Kalis for a more full body sound. I think every good engineer should at least try a 3-way monitor, the mid range clarity is just something you can't get in a 2-way. Although one15's are great, I would say I use them as my "auratones" in tandem with my Kalis. I am on them a lot less even though they show me much more detail in the high frequencies.
I paid a professional to have my room acoustically treated and as he was describing the "levels" of treatment I could add, he mentioned Level 0 was "Do nothing and mix on headphones" 😂 We moved eight months ago and I haven't bothered to install any treatment yet. I put up a ceiling cloud but then I moved rooms but it was a pain in the ass so I just put the panels in the garage. Last song I finished I mixed on headphones, did a car test and said "Shit, it's pretty spot on." WHAT IS HAPPENING??? Anyway- thanks for this vid, I enjoyed your perspective.
@@richertz hmmm. Could be a room issue? I know they have other models that go down further than 45Hz. But I haven’t run into a problem with low end. Took me a minute to adjust to them though!
KRKs have sucked since 6000b. 7000b, 9000B speaker models. Their speakers were OEM's from Focal. Then management/ownership changed and they went down hill. The only newer (now 20 years old) model that were relatively good for editing, mixing if desperate were were the V4 MKII I had a pair of the 6000b and 7000b, and they were one of the best at the time.
I bought a pair of One15s to replace my HS5s around 2 years ago...and I'm still on my HS5s. I do wonder whether I just need to take that leap and accept that the first couple of weeks will be rough.
wow that's crazy. So much money for monitors you don't use? I mean, you can always keep your HS5s to have a quick check at the end of every mix, just like people usually use NS10s or Auratones.
I'll say it like this ...as long as people are mixing better than me on similar equipment I don't see the need to invest in expensive stuff ... but man have fun with those sweet things
There's no nice way to say this, I had to click away due to your voice. Nasally and whiny is usually a bad combo when it comes to effective youtube presenters.

Hell yea! Whatever works for sure. Glad someone had a similar experience with these.

Cool to see that alot of people are getting these! When I bought them it was rare to see.
Which flat headphones do you recommend?

😂 o man! The headphones are killing it! Haha. Thanks for watching bud.
I had a similar experience when I got my Trinnov.
Glad someone can relate!
And people listen to my songs, mixed on Focals, on their iPad. At least it sounds good here 😅
Hahaha! Ain’t it the truth brother!
you cant ever downgrade speakers...its a law
True!
These Amphions alack low end - I've paired up with the iLoud MTM and its a great combo
Nice! I still have my sub if I want to turn it on but I rarely do now a days.
@@HomeRecordingNetworkdo you not struggle to hear the low end? I’ve heard others find them similar. Mids are great though.
@@richertz not at all! Do you have some of the smaller ones?
@@HomeRecordingNetworkI’ve got the one18s

Glad the algorithm brought me here today, great vid!
Thanks!

Yes! Trust the process! Amphions are sooooo good.

KALI LP8s
...or LP6s
Personally havn't tried the 6's but the reviews seem to be similar
I love my 8's

What maters is to know your speakers also to calibrate your room or equalize the speakers.
Very true!
Krk=shhitt sound

Is it? I must be the exception then. I must be doing something right! 😂 thanks for watching anyways bud! Cheers
