Damn bro. Your commentary actually made me smile and laugh. You got a sub. I actually subbed a couple of days ago...but I got to give you props on the video
As a UA-cam product and lifestyle artist-guru, one must weather the ups and downs of the algorithms. Stand strong when the winds of demonetization try to blow up my proverbial skirt. And also face the reality, that if I want to write another joke about cheap beer shits- sometimes I have to toil in the valley of jokes about expensive knife steel, to climb that mountain once again.
Great vid as usual dude! The Military was a knife I was wary of for years just because of “public perception”. However working outdoors, now that I’ve stopped caring and carried a Military for a while, there’s just no going back. It’s the most perfect cutting tool I think you can get! Thanks for all the great vids dude.
Hi, Ranger Jon. It seems I haven't checked in with you for longer than I thought. UA-cam does a TERRIBLE job of keeping me informed about my subscriptions, and that does tick me off. Google, for Pete's sake, can't even get this right and sufficiently user friendly?! So, hey, does that mean a Military has now kicked your black PM2 into back-up or secondary EDC status?!
I'm getting a millie in a few days. I have a PM2, Fact, and Endura so it was cool to see the size comparison between all of them. I have a better idea of what to expect
recently im big into zt and kershaw. non sprint run, still in production specifically since you can get the blade replaced for 10 bucks on a kershaw, 30 bucks on a zt. took about 5 weeks from me to them to get my zt0450 rebladed and sent back. i didnt want to mess up my 0450 and 0452cf since they are very expensive to me but now i dont mind. i decided to buy a 0393 because of this for my new edc. i love spyderco. the endura, police, and military are my favorite so i like bigger blades. i had some bad sharpening done locally which ruined the finish and rounded the tips on my zt0450, manix 2, and pm2. i cant get blade replacements for the spydercos so that was a hard lesson learned. so i also bought a kme and am learning to sharpen myself. i also like the kershaw cqc 4kxl. its a heavy sucker though. definitely not the best action at all, but at least you can wave it.
I carry my Military in my back right pocket. It feels too wide in the front right pocket, makes getting things out uncomfortable even compared to my CS Voyager Xl. But it is my favorite knife.
Matt Kandel lol i appreciate the honesty... I picked up a Pm2 m4 (dlc coated) natural g10.... And i use the shit out of it lol no intentions of selling it. You should use it.. Its fucking great lol
49Giants How's the Maxamet version? That's my next version, if/when they do another run. I like the ergos of the Manix2, but not the ball lock so much. You 'need' to get an M4 PM2 lol. Complete the set of supersteels .
Tony Canniffe hey Tony. The maxamet has been good so far. I haven’t hard used it, but for cardboard, plastic, paper it has been good, and stayed sharp so far after about 3 months of use. It came really sharp as well. The action is smooth
49Giants I got in on that one and have a spare I can sell you for what it cost me. I'm in Australia, so postage could be expensive. I was going to keep it but bought the CF one too from Knifeworks. Couldn't help myself. Lol.
I just feel that 52100 offers much better edge retention when opening letters and tactically cutting tape from boxes also containing knives over s30v. Damn it, got me again with Sprint runs Spyderco
Advanced Knife Bro everyone can use 6 PM2s with different steels. I find M4 best for letter opening, s30v for steak, and M390 for pokeing holes in PBR before shotgunning one.
Have you used the Spyderco Tri-Angle sharpener to sharpen the blurple PM2 yet? How does it handle the 110v? Did it take a long time? Am I asking too many questions
Yes... my experience may be different than most. I found it sharpened up quickly. Maybe Spyderco matches their edge grinds to the sharpmaker well, so it doesn't require an entire reprofile. I also didn't wait until it was looking like it came serrated, before I sharpened it. I also had the same experience with my 940-1s s90v on my sharpmaker too. I know this goes contrary to any steel nerds anecdotal evidence on the internet... but I have found edge grinds may have more to due with sharpening ease then steels in my experience. I've spent 40 minutes sharpening shit Chinese steel to get an edge usable, and 5 minutes with an expensive super steel sometimes. Also vice versa too. I have no problems with questions!
Whoa! Now THIS is interesting, A.K. Bro', very interesting! I have been avoiding S110V, S90V (and Maxamet) on Spydercos, especially any that might get employed regularly in 'hard use' situations, due to concerns about reprofiling issues. I don't need a second knife hobby -- resharpening nerdery. Geez, I haven't got that much time left at my age! So, my personal standard has been to ask -- from a position of explicitly declared non-expertise in the matter -- "Can I maintain this knife in a practical manner on a Sharpmaker?" I have tentatively decided that Bohler's super steels with what I think they call "microfine" structure should, in theory, better resist chipping damage and be easier to sharpen overall for their blade alloy class (K390 on my Urban Leaf, M390 on my LionSteel T.R.E. G10). My ZDP-189 Stretch? O.K., I figure I'd just send it off to Golden, CO if I damage the edge beyond my capabilities to fix. Immediate concern: I am actively after my best choice in a Manix 2 Lightweight; I settled on the ho-hum BD-1 for the above reasons, but was bummed that dealers are not shipping the translucent blue version they picture -- the older style, I now know, with the brighter blue scales and perspex ball lock cage. Grrrr... I figured for a Manix 2, I needed to be able to use it without inducing neurosis over hurting the poor baby. The cost difference is irrelevant, and the just sub-3-ounce FRCP version is a must. Should I just chance the S110V version, Bro', if I pick up the Sharpmaker?? And also, how about an EXPOSÉ video on this exact topic?! You are so right in your implications regarding received wisdom from the "steel nerds", though I freely admit to being a brother nerd over that point of knife lore. We need some alternative input here from someone with a Pabst in hand rather than a glass of wine, if you get my drift! Thanks!
Samuel Adams or Yuenling are good American beers if you are feeling patriotic. But Zima would pair better with the shirt knife combo if you want to avoid a harsh contrast to the color palet.
Nice review man. I enjoyed the pbr one too, you should do a which is the best cheap name brand beer in your opinion video! (and get the winner to sponsor you)
EDC with Aaron honestly... The liner lock on my mililtary is pretty thick compared to most liner locks. And Its VERY hard... Feels like it was heat treated well.
I've had my Military for a few years now and really like it , but that Ugly Frickin Clip keeps me from carring it . If they change the clip and just put some steel inserts in the g10 for tip up carry , it would go straight to the top of my collection and probably gain alot more fans .
Yeah the clip is kinda ugly by modern knife aesthetics- but it works and is functional. Maybe they'll upgrade it on the Military 2, and you can just throw this one away!
think of Knives like Golf clubs, they have different purposes. you need a SET to cover all the bases. SHHHH.... its the truth, and we all need to keep repeating it!
Yeah, just wish it were a skosh longer and with a less fine tip, yah know, like the Resilience. I really loved my Resilience. I had it set up the same way. I hope however is the new owner (finder) gets as much out of it as I did.
I just pulled the trigger on a vanilla s30v black g10 Millie. Amazon had it for $155 and I've been needing a work knife. Really been feeling the loss of my Resilience since it's been trade show season at work and building displays has neccecitated the use of a larger more robust knife. Lots of foam, cardboard, and wood cutting. While my Esee 4 has served well, some of the more genteel folks at the company have definitely shot me some strange looks. Even got a complaint. Hopefully this will help me keep my job. Either way thanks for the review. It came down to the Cold Steel Btoken Skull and this knife. Yours was the review that actually convinced me that this was the knife I was looking for. Thanks for the thoughtful, and clear headed observations. It's nice to have a reviewer that does actually understand what good knives are and can see past marketing. It's not easy to find that in pocket knife reviewers. Keep up the good work!

Crap! I just bought the Crooked River and I now I'm thinking I should have gotten the Military, with its subtle curves. I have been thinking the same, I will never use the Crooked River while barefoot.
I can almost guarantee most watching are more like yourself and buy more than one knife a month. Can never have to many cutting tools. With all the competition these days it's hard to choose one
You may be right... liner side only looks shiny, and lock has a matte titanium look. I couldn't find any official product description saying that, but it looks like it to me.
Advanced Knife Bro Thanks again, for allowing us here in Michigan a glimpse into your world; we are continually evolving- - happy to report that I just ordered my decorative button down shirt.
Umm... wife got it for me at a local jeweler, since my handmade one was giving me a rash. Here's what the receipt says "STULLER DURA-TUNGSTEN 7.3mm BRUSHED WITH POLISHED BEVEL EDGE." It's pretty durable (no scratches or dings), I don't break out, and basically wear it 24 hours a day.
Ended up getting the manix2 in s110v. The edge holding capabilities on that steel is fucking ludicrous. But then again the best steel I've had on a folder is 440c lol. Made 60ish cuts on cardboard and still paper towel slicing sharp.
I have this blade steel in the Military, Paramilitary 2, and Manix 2. It is a steel seldom seem in pocket knives, much less production knives. You mainly seem them in custom knives. It is similar to O1 and 1095, but should have a little more edge retention. Also, 52100 takes a very keen edge. It’s stainless equivalent is AEBL steel above 60 HRC.
Never had the Manix 2XL however it's not interested me that much. It's heavier and has a smaller cutting edge. I would see the only real advantage is if you prefer one handle over the other or ergonomics. But that's something you'd need both side by side for to check out.
I'm spitting with rage right now 😐. I use 52100 almost exclusively. It outperforms s30v in every way but stain resistance (with my super-secret heat treat). Curious? If you actually reply to this comment I will send you one to review.
Yeah but Medfords can double as a shovel! A 500+ dollar very smalll shovel. Very practical. Plus the brick like shape really let's people know you like carrying bricks in your pockets.
Just here to like before I even watch. I think 52100 is just too damn rust prone without enough benefits. M4 is too too nice. However, I think the CTS204P Military is my next Spydie. Hola
Advanced Knife Bro ya it was on a try with some other stuff that got dumped into the trash instead of the sink to be washed by someone not knowing it was there. I was a good knife. Forgot the model number/name but it’s not made anymore. Had the stainless handle.
"Cause one knife is really all you need"........well its treason then
Pinned.
Damn bro. Your commentary actually made me smile and laugh. You got a sub. I actually subbed a couple of days ago...but I got to give you props on the video
Sell it to me blade brew
Admirable you are still making videos after yesterdays artistic high of the pabst review. Lesser youtubers would have rested on our laurels

I have an update coming soon!
Great vid as usual dude! The Military was a knife I was wary of for years just because of “public perception”. However working outdoors, now that I’ve stopped caring and carried a Military for a while, there’s just no going back. It’s the most perfect cutting tool I think you can get! If I worked outdoors, I'd carry a larger heavier knife. I still have been carrying this one though.
Someday these videos will become canon in a knife review cinematic universe.
The PBR one was golden! This PM is also no slouch. Great work AKB!
That intro knife throw into the stump was awesome... you should make that a thing for every review.
Wait I almost do!
Ahh man that was quite an enjoyable watch. Kudos to you and your channel.
That tactical knife flicking at the end was ninja af
It's how tactical bros do it.
I'm getting a millie in a few days. I have a PM2, Fact, and Endura so it was cool to see the size comparison between all of them. I have a better idea of what to expect
I'm loving this peel ply carbon fiber. Feels really good. Great video, thanks
Yep, it’s a great handle/scale material.
Thanks for another stellar, fact filled and science based knife review AK Bro!
The sheer amount of awesome that are your reviews could not be contained in the Queen Mary....
SHINE ON, you Craaaaaaaaaazy Diamond!
Love Pink Floyd!
recently im big into zt and kershaw. non sprint run, still in production specifically since you can get the blade replaced for 10 bucks on a kershaw, 30 bucks on a zt. took about 5 weeks from me to them to get my zt0450 rebladed and sent back.
i didnt want to mess up my 0450 and 0452cf since they are very expensive to me but now i dont mind. i decided to buy a 0393 because of this for my new edc.
i love spyderco. the endura, police, and military are my favorite so i like bigger blades.
i had some bad sharpening done locally which ruined the finish and rounded the tips on my zt0450, manix 2, and pm2. i cant get blade replacements for the spydercos so that was a hard lesson learned.
so i also bought a kme and am learning to sharpen myself.
i also like the kershaw cqc 4kxl. its a heavy sucker though. definitely not the best action at all, but at least you can wave it.
Traded a brown mil.for a Benchmade 710 1410 w/ m390 and don't regret it for a min.
i regret not buying a 710
Police 4 added must be to the blue line comparison segment.
Keep the good work.
One of these days
I owned 2 Spyderco's. I bought the 18 pocket Spyderco soft case. So I had too fill it.
That's the Sprint Run I missed, and here you are beating the piss out of it! lmao
If I didn't baton with it, I'd have some very disappointed subscribers. Still works great though!
You’re deadpan style is amazing. I mean that sincerely.
Thank you!
I carry my Military in my back right pocket. It feels too wide in the front right pocket, makes getting things out uncomfortable even compared to my CS Voyager Xl. But it is my favorite knife.
Yet another excellent video!
Man i enjoy your videos sir
I am wondering if Spyderco is ever going to cave in and do a reposition-able pocket clip version.
4 years later and we now know the answer is yes! 😊
I have the military, I haven't carried it in a while. I should put it back in to the rotation.
I got the military in m4 with the natural g10 handle. Awesome freaking knife that I'll never ever use. One day I'll sell it. That's my story.
Matt Kandel lol
If only most collectors were this honest!!!
Matt Kandel lol i appreciate the honesty... I picked up a Pm2 m4 (dlc coated) natural g10.... And i use the shit out of it lol no intentions of selling it. You should use it.. Its fucking great lol
Great video as always!
Glad you like them!
One knife is all you need, but what’s the fun in that??? I have 3 pm2s maxamet, M390, and S35vn. So.... yeah. Thanks for another awesome video AKB!!!
Jesus! I have only 2 of the same knife- the Endura, and that's because my wife bought me a second one because I thought I had lost my first.
49Giants How's the Maxamet version? That's my next version, if/when they do another run. I like the ergos of the Manix2, but not the ball lock so much.

49Giants I got in on that one and have a spare I can sell you for what it cost me. I'm in Australia, so postage could be expensive.
I was going to keep it but bought the CF one too from Knifeworks. Couldn't help myself. Lol.
Glad you beat the thing, makes carbon fiber seem like an ok option.

"More is never enough" good video
Agreed!
Okay. Beer pairings are the next logical step. What would the Military pair well with?
Samuel Adams or Yuenling are good American beers if you are feeling patriotic. But Zima would pair better with the shirt knife combo if you want to avoid a harsh contrast to the color palet.
D Gray nailed it. Or a Bartles and James.
This is ashually a therapy channel for people who have knife addiction. Also wanna trade straight up a g10 s30v version, that's been to 4 countries?
I love the worn out pocket clip look. Is just beautiful and unique to you; and whatever random shit you do. And the few that actually patina maaan!!!
Nice review man. I enjoyed the pbr one too, you should do a which is the best cheap name brand beer in your opinion video! (and get the winner to sponsor you)
Sponsored by a beer company... I like it!
Great review!
I love my Ti Mili!
Great review buddy!
Even with the failed cardboard batoning we all come here for.
Turns out split bamboo is as bad as a baton as we all suspected!
52100 high carbon steel?!?! Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!!!!!!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
That batoning was pretty impressive for how thin that liner lock is... Makes me look at my sebenza with utter disappointment
Yep it help up fine.
EDC with Aaron honestly... The liner lock on my mililtary is pretty thick compared to most liner locks. And Its VERY hard... Feels like it was heat treated well.
Get a Spyderco Salt 1 or 2 ;) lol. I like mine. It weights 20grams, and I find it easy to thumb open.. but can't seem to finger open it as you do.
One of these days I plan on it!
"All its takes is to own one Chris Reeve to be denied a bank loan." :0
Friggin' LOL 1:30 🤣😂😅🥲
Do the cold steel 4 max scout please? 🥺
"One knife is too many and a hundred not enough." Word.
Fidgetability is important in folding knife
Hmm...weird, our yards look...similar, fine hobo-patina (randomly battoned/chopped/cut bundles of burnables).
Yeah, just whatever bullshit I need it for.
Great job!
I love a good fling and pop.
You must be very good at this.. I don't like spydercos (yeah, shoot me), but I still watch your reviews of those damn knives.
While you must have some sort of deep character flaw, that's fine with me!
Yes. Yes I do. And thank you.
@@AdvancedKnifeBro I have have half a character flaw
This beer video looks funny.
You should watch the part where I drink it.
Well ya talked me into the Military, & now I can get rid of all my other knives, but not machetes, axes, tomahawks, or cleavers.
think of Knives like Golf clubs, they have different purposes. you need a SET to cover all the bases.
SHHHH.... its the truth, and we all need to keep repeating it!
I like this idea!
I don't need to be chastised about how many knives I own whilst watching a video about knives I want to own.
I ain't your boss
since i lost my Resilience, I've been eying this knife up for a while... I might just need to get it.
It’s a winner as long as you’re ok with pocket clip and liner lock.
Yeah, just wish it were a skosh longer and with a less fine tip, yah know, like the Resilience. I really loved my Resilience. I had it set up the same way.
I hope however is the new owner (finder) gets as much out of it as I did.
Passing it on... giving you a chance to get a new knife- sounds good to me!
I like the longer blade. Clearly very slicey. The tip down thing aggravates me though.
It don't bug me much.
Nor I (L.A.P.G. TBFK -- same deal). There has never been a day in my life where I had enough rocks jostling around in my head to believe that I needed faster deployment.
I think "peel ply" carbon fiber is actually a textured sheet (ply) of carbon fiber bonded over plain old G10
That’s not what it is according to everything I’ve read. Here’s some discussion, and a place to start. It’s just a textured surface carbon fiber.
www.bladeforums.com/threads/what-is-peel-ply-carbon-fiber.621213/page-1
Being the PM2 so popular wouldn't make sense to offer this knife in a compression lock configuration with the same clip orientations?
IVE BEEN ASKING THAT FOR YEARS BUT THEY WONT DO IT. cmon spyderco! orrrr how about a pm2 xl so it has a 4in blade lol.
I think they just want everyone to give in and buy the original Military, and then sell us all the new one later on.
They do make a left hand military but only in standard g10 s30v. Good review thanks 🐱
Crap! I just bought the Crooked River and I now I'm thinking I should have gotten the Military, with its subtle curves.
I have been thinking the same, I will never use the Crooked River while barefoot.
Don't, it's a harder knife to safely close one handed.
The subtle curves, well formed, almost always beat out big and buxom, IMO.
I'm worried about that Delica, I hate loosing knives
I can almost guarantee most watching are more like yourself and buy more than one knife a month. Can never have to many cutting tools. With all the competition these days it's hard to choose one
You didn't peg the Military into the stump in the end and I got a serious case of blue balls. Goddamn my aching balls!
FINISH ME!
Ha, ha, ha. So it's come to this, eh? There are some advantages to being in the seventh decade of one's life...
I think the lock side liner is titanium.
You may be right... liner side only looks shiny, and lock has a matte titanium look. I couldn't find any official product description saying that, but it looks like it to me.
Actually, I just did a quick check. It's magnetic, so it's likely just bead blasted steel. :S Less exotic, but still cool. Cheers.
Advanced Knife Bro you should get the knifeworks exclusive military... don’t think about it just run to the site and buy it.. thank me later
Love my military’s, And you. Also lamp
Amber lamps.
I still like watching your videos even though I'm so over that zombie apocalypse knife hording thing .
But what if Zombies are REAL? are you willing to take that chance, at the expense of sound financial decisions?
If the Walking Dead has taught us anything it's that you gotta have dreadlock's and a sword .
Its been 4 years, and im wondering if he still has just 12 Spydercos.
Less now
I carry mine in case I’m ambushed by medieval samurai again
My daughter likes your shirt.
Well played sir!
Advanced Knife Bro Thanks again, for allowing us here in Michigan a glimpse into your world; we are continually evolving- - happy to report that I just ordered my decorative button down shirt.
For parties and UA-cam!
Hey, random question, what kind of ring do you wear?
Umm... wife got it for me at a local jeweler, since my handmade one was giving me a rash. Here's what the receipt says "STULLER DURA-TUNGSTEN 7.3mm BRUSHED WITH POLISHED BEVEL EDGE." It's pretty durable (no scratches or dings), I don't break out, and basically wear it 24 hours a day.
Thanks for the reply! it looked similar to the ring I wear and I got curious. Entertaining video as always, cheers.
12 is not a problem. The people telling you it's a problem simply lack the funds for them
Lou Ciamillo truth
Yep. You got it. Why is this any one else's business? After all, you can only stab two people simultaneously in a "tactical" (>cough, cough!
Ended up getting the manix2 in s110v. The edge holding capabilities on that steel is fucking ludicrous. But then again the best steel I've had on a folder is 440c lol. Made 60ish cuts on cardboard and still paper towel slicing sharp.
That one makes my list of want to have. Not sure about the 52100, though it’s a great Steel.
I want to spend some more time with it. Love the Military.
I have a knife review dropping today that uses AEB-L.
Advanced Knife Bro That would be interesting to see. Hopefully, it has a Rockwell 60 or above.
I gave the thumb up but I don't have time for a comment today, sorry bro.
I don't either man... no big deal.
Saw you drinking Boulevard in on of your videos. Are you in the Kansas City Area?
great vid. Is it a rust bucket?
It can be. I dry it off though.
Which do you prefer: Manix 2XL or the Military?
Never had the Manix 2XL however it's not interested me that much. It's heavier and has a smaller cutting edge. I would see the only real advantage is if you prefer one handle over the other or ergonomics. But that's something you'd need both side by side for to check out.
Hell..my old timer will do any thing those will do.
Yup. That's the secret about knives!
Not typically a comment guy but you asked so I am. If you could only ever have one Spyderco which would it be?
Para Military 2.
No shame in my Shaman.
Hey, you reviewed a balisong yet?
Holy Crap, carboonie Fiber, like damn... like holy shit, like dang....
Hey man can you do a reveiw on the para 3?! Thanks man great reveiw
I might... not soon as my knife budget ain't big- but in the near future.
Advanced Knife Bro aha yea man i hear ya, anyways looking forward to it it's a great knife! Keep up the funny and entertaining videos!
I'm spitting with rage right now 😐. I use 52100 almost exclusively. It outperforms s30v in every way but stain resistance (with my super-secret heat treat). Curious? If you actually reply to this comment I will send you one to review.
Why are you mad?
I like the shirt. It was a good buy
BON oh BOS
I can't justify buying more of the same knife, but that doesn't mean I dont.In conclusion..........I'd fux with that.
Nice!
03:13 finger meat seems to have fallen down to fertilize the grass.....
Yeah but Medfords can double as a shovel! A 500+ dollar very smalll shovel. Very practical. Plus the brick like shape really let's people know you like carrying bricks in your pockets.
A lot of smart people are saying hey... I bought a Medford shovel. Have you seen these medford shovels? Everyone uses them as shovels.
Advanced Knife Bro They're fantastic, terrific, just terrific. Huge, trust me, i know, i know shovel knives.
Can you do a PM2 cardboard baton test? I just got one and I'd like to know if it can take the abuse like the military.
I'll work it in.
Just here to like before I even watch. I think 52100 is just too damn rust prone without enough benefits. M4 is too too nice. However, I think the CTS204P Military is my next Spydie. Hola
All good choices. I shoulda bought the Natural G10... oh well.
Shirt is far better than the knife, and I like knives.
Great review. Now don't get a Big Head when I tell you my wife likes your videos, but she does!
My wife rarely laughs... ...
#300! I miss NOVA.
I have one spyderco, had two. One got thrown out.
Which one got thrownt out?
Advanced Knife Bro ya it was on a try with some other stuff that got dumped into the trash instead of the sink to be washed by someone not knowing it was there. I was a good knife. Forgot the model number/name but it’s not made anymore. Had the stainless handle.
F35 = $100M each. "Pocket knife market is a lot more lucrative than making parts for airplanes." .... Still so devastatingly true....
I think I'm gonna start making some.
Advanced Knife Bro Knives or Jets? Ahhhh who cares. I'll take a couple of whatever you decide.... As long as it's official akb swag.
The Military is easy to use with gloves on.
Which branch of the military is it and what country does it serve?
Mr. Morris - it's an Airman 1st class in the Uzbekistani Coast Guard.
Djibouti Patrol
Advanced Knife Bro - hahaha, nice!
Giggidy
When's the shirt review coming?
Soon as I start my shoe reviews...
Here's the comment you asked for.
do accept beer donations? this is the greatest channel of all time.
I could, but I think those are expensive to send through the mail.
