Just ordered one based on your review, living in Florida its a must for beach and boating! Like everything else around salt water you must rinse in freshwater after use, cause everything rusts eventually!
Just got this knife for my son for deep sea fishing off san diego. Told him only thing I want in return is more fresh Dorado and Blue fin. Thanks for review
Looks like a great knife for Summer Vacation. A "Don't worry, be happy" knife. A knife that doesn't take itself too seriously, until you insult its stainlessness.
"looks real sassy" I'm sold!!!! For real though, it looks to me like a Spyderco Resilience with upgraded steel and lock. Which is great. I love the simple handle.
@@AdvancedKnifeBro I finally pulled the proverbial trigger on this one & it has replaced my PM2 as my left pocket EDC. Oh yeah, I have a new YT Acct too!
By far my favorite knife review of any reviewer. I actually laughed 4 times during your video. And thank god for cussing. I’m so tired of videos without cussing. In my terribly done video of this knife I shove in a few choice words. We are all “adults” here.
Glad to hear your was stiff too. Was actually thinking something's wrong with this one and I should return it. But I guess I'll keep working it out and slicing myself up everytime it lands on me
Nice Billy Ocean (O'Shane) reference, lol! I've always been intrigued about this one, haven't seen as much on it as deserved. Thanks for reviewing it. Always great detail and funny.
I like it a lot. A lot of little considerations were taken to make this knife interesting and well thought out. The flush interior, the light weight- all excellent considerations when making a good every day carry.
For eample I'm carrying a Cold Steel Code 4 today and it keeps sliding down my pocket and bumping against my flashlight. I feel it swinging in against my man boob as I walk.
Advanced Knife Bro lol. Yea in light clothes it can definitely make a difference. But I’m normally in dickies, some kind of cargo shorts or long gym pants with a string to hold them up. So it never really was a problem for me. Code4 is a good knife tho.
Advanced Knife Bro for me 7 to 8 oz is where I can feel it in my pocket. In my cloths I can’t really even notice a 6oz knife in my pocket. And I definitely can’t feel the difference between a 4 and 6 oz knife in my cloths. Never really tried a crazy heavy knife in my workout pants tho. I could probably feel a difference in them. With those I normally carry a sabenza or pm2
Advanced Knife Bro You know what they say... "Porki Chilli has observational super powers." ... Okay... no one ever said that, but I still totally agree.
I thought about an LC200N Mule myself -- fantasizing that one wasn't as yet unobtainium -- but, honestly, I can't see much practical benefit to LC200N on the right fixed blade design. I'm steeling myself to pull the trigger today on a Bradford Guardian in Nitro-V, though, which might have further benefits. Practically speaking, I'm pretty much already 'there' for any salty on-water tasks I could anticipate with the Krupp 4116 on my cheap Cold Steel Lites with polypropylene handles.
Frederick J. Yeah 4116 will pretty much get you through most tasks. And Bradford guardians are very nice, I almost bought the m390 version, but got a griptilian in m390 with carbon fiber handles instead. Nitro-v wasn’t around at the time, I might have went with the guardian lol.
You can still grab one on Massdump. For another couple of days, or so... I have much optimism that the N690cos + the minimalist, easy take-apart design on my new Spy-DK will effectively be as "Salt" as really required for small boat sailing and sea kayaking, given sensible end-of-working-day maintenance. Definitely a featherweight, but very capable thin shorts, sweaty day option, I think, subbing for my likewise 1.90 ounce K390 Urban!
Were you goin for Martin Yan? With the Guy Fieri joke. Just couldn't figure it out cause....well I'm in it for the jokes. And the knives. I also like the flashlights. And a touch of the ennui. But, based on your comments, I wish other people watched them more. Knife.
love ur review style. and hilarious and true about guys buyin up the sprint runs/exclusives and flippin them for more. like that new. rivers edge cutlery para3...
I have both plain edge variants, I think it’s one of their best models yet. I’d really like to see a smaller variant, and sprints. I much prefer it to the PM2.
That’s partially true. There have been revisions to this model. If you look at the description in the video at the time this knife was reviewed the screws were steel and not titanium.
Goodbye SpydieChef (from my buy next Spyderco list), hello Caribbean (to my buy next Spyderco list). I almost feel like something happened here today. Hooray!
...Or for some more hedonistic "vacation" destinations, perhaps, which sort of package you got. Again, not a quandary I'll need to contemplate, being now both old *and* respectable (yawn)...
That's definitely not true. I emailed Spyderco about this directly (after the review) and Sals assistant told me they were stainless. Liner is LC200N though, and the clip is Ti. That isn't to say they might not make upgrades, but as of a week after this review production models were shipping with stainless screws.

Oh and stop shaming me for watching your videos. Time enjoyed is never time wasted. Also, I learned about guts getting in holes so win-win! 👍🏼
Seems like it's a little chunky? Blocky? Is it bulky in the pocket? I don't leave my knives in the ocean so rust free doesn't matter as much so I'll probably opt for the PM2 when I jump on the Spyderco train.
It's a bit wide, but not heavy. I dunno, it's a little more about weight to me since I carry it by itself in an inside suit pocket. PM2 has a slimmer profile for sure.
Choil vs handle it really depends on the knife and task. It does help with controlling the blade. It's not very useful for battoning so I can see why you don't like it though :P I spend about half my time in an area with sub 3" length stupidity laws and for some reason there are makers that don't think dudes with bear claw hands should be able to get a full grip on a smaller knife. I've seen a few smaller knives with handles that effective grip lengths seemingly made for toddler sized hands because of the butt and guard thickness/sticking out. So a choil can turn a knife I simply can't/won't use into one that I can. There are also sub 2.5" knives that would be impossible to have a full grip on without a choil, like the dragonfly/pilar.
Have a sheepsfoot and is a great food prepper. The handle scales are cool, just did not like the shiney on the black. A little 600 grit wet sand killed the shine and gives a bit better feel. One of my favs.
@@AdvancedKnifeBro Thanks, if you know of any others that are popular, let me know please. I miss the days where Craigslist was a good place to buy - sell - trade knives.

This has probably been said already but all "true" Salt series knives (not all LC200N knives) are supposed to be fully corrosion free. That's why it has LC200N liners, and that's also why it has a titanium pocket clip.
@@AdvancedKnifeBro yeah, I believe that is why they later went to black hardware on the CQI-amended Carribeans. I think they are doing this on all Salts from here on out.
I suggest all knife company should make the handle blade space tapered customized to the blade to add more stability in closed blade centering, handle durability and aesthetic geometry.
I want this knife... but I own a Lc200n mule already, and I am satisfied with that given the issue of galvanic corrosion. Mean this shouldn't be an issue if you take care of your blades, but the "rustfree" claim just seems too good to be true. Even my pm2 which I consider to be pretty corrosion resistant... Already has surface rust on the stop pin after 3 months of light almost everyday use. My only mistake that I made (that comes to mind) is I washed the knife too much. I always dried it with a microfiber cloth afterwards. I attempted to get every nook, but some how came short at the stop pin. So now when I look at knives, I consider the totality of the piece. No sense to have a rust proof blade if the handle can still rust out. Also, the Spyderco rep informed me that they use tool steel in the pm2s stop pin because it is hard steel... My question, wouldn't stainless but the same if not better because now the pin is even less susceptible to rust? I plan to take my knife a part tomorrow for a deep clean, something Spyderco doesn't exactly enjoy... but like I said if the stop pin was stainless I wouldn't need to do corrective surgery. RANDOM NOTE Bought a Viper Knives Fortis and it is what a great pocket knife should be. m390 blade with full titanium frame lock.
On a slightly more serious note (only slightly). The only spyderco I own is the Para 3. I kinda like the size and handling. Is there something that's similar but different enought to get from Spyderco? I don't know why but I've never really looked at Spyderco, even though many people swear by them.
I just bought the Para 3... I'll let you know in a few weeks after I get it. I feel like it's small like my efficient or delica. I generally don't like smaller knives like this.
I like the pm2 choil quite a bit. I've had my eye on the lil native but haven't done anything about it cause I have a pm2 Wich is the daddy version and I can only justify my want of it. Because I want it. Yes. Also the fact that you like the fact so much interest me. I like small stabby blades. Like the leek or that line. And the crkt m16. Seriously I love that blade. But I never carry it because the stupid fram lock on mine is so hard to disengage. Whatever. I really enjoyed this video
It's partially looks, partially the utility of the thin tip. It's just a knife I feel good about. Light, doesn't take up much room in the pocket- grippy. When a manufacturer takes time to consider blade proportion to weight, and not "overbuild" a knife that doesn't require it- then I really like it. Buy a fixed blade if you need a "tough" knife.
Indeed. With laminated scales that beefy, what's a full length liner really doing for you? Beef up around the compression lock, optimize the design for balance in hand... and you're done (?).
I address this on my Esee laser strike review... spyderco choils are way to shallow for me. The laser strike choil, is deep, comfortable, and ergonomic.
The liners are also lc200n but I don't know about the screws.
Says stainless on a lot of the internet product descriptions. Can you confirm where you got this info?
Advanced Knife Bro I heard it in a interview with Eric but I can't confirm because it was live on Instagram.
I’d like that to be true... I’ll keep an eye out and add a correction to the description if that’s true. Maybe I’ll email them.

When a manufacturer takes time to consider blade proportion to weight, and not "overbuild" a knife that doesn't require it- then I really like it. Buy a fixed blade if you need a "tough" knife.
Advanced Knife Bro fair enough. Good response
I just wish it had no liners, a wire clip, and grey handle scales. I do agree that knives are better without finger coils.
Be lighter without the liner... quite a few big cold steels, and some benchmades are like that.
Indeed. With laminated scales that beefy, what's a full length liner really doing for you? Beef up around the compression lock, optimize the design for balance in hand... and you're done (?).
Definitely prefer a choil on most of my Spydies
Is The Shametrain like a follow up to The Human Centipede?
A to M all the way down.
Yeah I'll wait for that different handle color passive aggressive knife bro
A properly passive aggressive comment!

Those are some swanky looking shorts! 😊
My favorite. I feel so fancy when I wear them!
I like the option of using a choil. Like on the Millie. I’m ok with being forced to use it on small knives.
Soft screws and lock tight 😺🙀😹
Yeah I don't like it on small knives, just to give you a proper handle size.
The choil on the para3 is a little too small 😁 i like the choil on the rat 7
I address this on my Esee laser strike review... spyderco choils are way to shallow for me. The laser strike choil, is deep, comfortable, and ergonomic.
