CrossFit Athlete Andrea Ager performs an insane Tabata workout consisting of an array of staple CrossFit movements, and also takes a minute to chat about Tabata and CrossFit in general.
What is Tabata? 20 Seconds of sprint/work, 10 second rest, for 4 straight minutes. Tabata music lets you focus on your workout, rather than think about having to look at your watch or a timer.

Tabata Training began in the mid 1990's. Japanese fitness researcher Dr Izumi Tabata created a HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout, using this very method. Dr Tabata proved the tabata method to draw heavily from both the aerobic and anaerobic systems, unlike most conventional workouts, which tend heavily favor one or the other.
The Tabata Interval has gained a lot of recognition throughout the Crossfit community, running community, and health clubs across the globe, for its versatility, adaptability, and positive results.
The Tabata Interval Method has proven to maximize VO2 max, while also building endurance, burning fat, and retaining muscle. Though the Tabata was not designed as a fat loss or weight loss program, it has gained a lot of recent attention in response to tabatas ability to speed up the metabolism and burn fat.
What is Crossfit? A workout program designed by Greg Glassman, which follows daily WOD (workout of the day) posts on the company's official site. CrossFit often uses tabata in their w.o.d.

I dont know why people are so against crossfit. Better than sitting your ass on the couch all day right? Do what you like.. Crossfit, bodybuilding, Yoga, sports.. Just fucking stay active and stop all the damn hate. If you worry about injury, maybe it isn't for you... Many successful and strong athletes in crossfit. More power to them and to those who use crossfit as a tool to stay in shape
Common sense, moderate thoughtful approaches, critical thinking and logic are unwelcome here on the interwebs.
Meaningless comparison. Many ppl are against crossfit because it is highly commercialized, unsafe, inefficient, wanna be quasi sport that is based on little or no knowledge about biomechanics, physiology, and safety in training. That is why.

Exactly! I do yoga and bodybuild at home but I want to do crossfit soon. Either way you can build muscles. Depends on your goals
@@EchoClam exactly the fact with any ring or bar exercises it is the kipping that is the most important part of the exercise. She looks great, but let's see her do strict dead hang muscle-ups, V ups, or pull ups, & don't get me started on how much leg drive, & arms are used on what they call a kb swing. It is great she & many others are active, but it saddens me to see here say she wants to do crossfit for sixty years so in her 80s I'm guessing knowing she will be very lucky if she can physically do it in her 40s due to the abuse due to poor technique, at such high reps. When you are in your teens, or twenties you could get the same or better results doing a fraction of the reps or time training if it was perfect form, & stop all the damn momentum. If you want to keep moving do some cardio, sprints, or prowler work. Pullups are not cardio.
Anyone that is complaining about this workout should really save their time and energy for their own workout.

Pretty cool, I agree that it is annoying and distracting to look at a timer when doing Tabata workouts, great idea incorporating the "timer" into music!

Tabata songs have helped me take my workouts to the next level. My training is so much more focused on the 'work'. I agree it creates a rhythm for the workouts that helps you stay motivated. I have a lot more successes with Tabata Songs. I tell everyone about them.

Awesome! Strange that no-one did come up with this earlier? When doing the Tabata, I always have to keep my eyes on my timer, which is a nuisance for the concentration!

That overhead squat with 135 pounds was very impressive. Wow.
I the crossfit disk are lighter, mostly rubber so than can drop them. still very good.

Theyre not lighter...theyre just rubber. 45 pounds is 45 pounds. whether it be in rubber or metal form.
ohyeahididthatbaby right, but I think a crossfit 25 or 35lb is the size of steel 45lb so it looks like your lifting heavier than you are.
