    I did a 25 year old boat trailer and top coated with chassis black, and now a few years in and nothing shows rust , all brushed on , only 1 coat. Recently did my truck bed and I can say that it’s been easy to use and for me it’s the only thing I use from now on

      Did you clean with a degreaser first? Did you use a metal prep or just scuff it up?

    In my experience using this product if you take rust down to clean metal with a wire wheel or sandblasting, definitely takes more than one coat to seal everything up or rust will start coming back through if you actually actually drive your vehicle in the weather a few times If it’s not just a restoration project that’s going to be kept in a garage.

      Why not just use a High quality paint if you've gotten It down to clean bare metal?

  • @driverjamescopeland

    Great product, if you just want a cheap and fast "back to black".
    What I'm more concerned with, is minimum mil thickness, and if it's a skinned encapsultor. If you sand skinning ecapsulator, you lose most of the protection. If you're just using it in single stage, it's not an issue... but as a base for paint, it's something customers should know.

    Works great, do not use if you ever plan to weld on the object in the future, it will not come off without copious amounts of flapper wheels

    Can this be thinned to get it into small joints or corners? Do you need any primer on top if you paint over it or is there any limit to what kind of paints you can use? Charles

    • @eastwoodco
      @eastwoodco  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes, it can be thinned with xylene up to 10%.
      Topcoat able with virtually any high-quality coating - primer wise it would be up to you depending on your application.
      For example, we recently coated a frame in Rust Encapsulator Plus then Extreme Chassis Black - we didn't use a primer in between as both were black.

    • @eastwoodco
      @eastwoodco  Місяць тому +1

      We don't have access to POR15's chemical compounds but we can tell you Rust Encapsulator seals the metal off from oxygen so it is unable to rust any further AND it holds up to over 2000 hours of salt spray testing.
      And also it's ours ya know?

    • @reedstemen
      @reedstemen 3 місяці тому +1

      por is more expensive for no more benefits. I ruined a truck’s body repairs using por products, looks good for the first year then breaks off in strips and chips, does not matter how good your prep work is.

    • @eastwoodco
      @eastwoodco  3 місяці тому +2

      We don't know the formulation of competitor products... but this will seal the rust off from receiving any more oxygen and stop it from rusting any further, then can be left or top coated, and has EXCELLENT adhesion properties. We've seen those other guys stuff fail and flake off after a year or so - ours will not do that.

    love how they lie about it not covering the rust then explain that it in fact does cover up the rust, this does cover the rust completely and utterly, saying it doesn't because you guys are to lazy to properly explain it is pathetic

    • @caseybyington7197
      @caseybyington7197 3 місяці тому +16

      They thoroughly explained it, but let me help you further. By "just cover up the rust" he means that people ask if it "just covers up the rust and the problem, leaving the rust to continue to rust." Then he explains that, no, it creates a barrier that denies the rust oxygen, therefore stopping the rust from rusting further. Do you work for some other tool place or something? I see negative people on here all the time. I've bought quite a few things from this company and so far I've had great experiences. I've also been associated with some of their other services and subscriptions and what not and it's been great. I don't understand the negativity around this company at all.

      @driverjamescopeland 3 місяці тому +4

      I'm sorry... what was your point? It clearly says "rust encapsulator"... not "dissolver" or "converter".... ENCAPSULATOR. It's a polymer coating with a solvent compound that allows the binders to seep into the rust for better adhesion than typical chassis paint. That's it. No more. No less.

    • @eastwoodco
      @eastwoodco  3 місяці тому +3

      Hot take in the comments! Simply put Rust Encapsulator Plus seals off the rust and denies it oxygen so it can't rust any further - encapsulating it so that you have a clean rust free surface to work with.
