Why did the lightsaber stuck up with the staff? Shouldn't it break it?
The staff was made by Pure Beskar, a material that can survive many blaster shots, or lightsaber strikes and won't break.
Watch this video. www.youtube.co....
When her lightsaber sank in the river, has she ever gotten it back?
In the end of Chapter 13 she had both lightsabers on her belt so, yes.
Could this mean Thrawn, Ezra maybe even Sabine will appear in Mandalorian?
I kinda don't think so, however it is only speculation. This might be a tease for some Rebels Sequel coming in.
It's impossible that Ahsoka would have such a problem beating non-force staff user. - Ahsoka was not trying to kill nor hurt the lady. She was aiming for disarming her and getting information, she needed her alive.
Have you heard about modification for Jedi Academy that adds it's own playable gamemodes, skins from all across Star Wars no matter what timeline? Legends aswell, many skinpacks that add new models to the game also exist. Very realistic hard-to-learn lightsaber combat.

Is anyone else in love with the sound that a lightsaber colliding with pure beskar makes
Yes
Yup. Especially the volley at 1:51
Not just that. The way the clashes come right after the peaceful water sounds and build on the sound of footsteps and the occasional grunt of effort is amazing.
It’s awesome, but I think the folly sound when the staff strikes the ground in the initial fight was off a bit. But I still enjoyed the scene very much.
What one must take into account, is that in a Time Long Past, it was quite the common sight
Honestly imagine the legend of Ahsoka Tano at this point. She is one of the very last living Jedi who were not only trained by the Order, but was a commander in some of the thickest action, and trained under the legendary General Anakin Skywalker.
And Don't forget was also fo trained by the Sassy Obi Wan Kenobi
Though she definitely deserves it, I don’t think there is any legend around her. She stayed hidden throughout the Galactic Civil war and her past was wiped out alongside all the Jedi orders archives

Love how the magistrate visibly panicked when she changed to her reverse grip 😭
She realized Ahsoka was just fooling around with her the whole time. This lady couldn't handle a serious Jedi Master that fought Sith Lords. Yes, I call her a master because she pretty much is at this point in time.
Reverse grip is really just playing around or bad choreography. And it's overused in the last couple of years. Waaay overused.
@@thedokkodoka4349 You might not realize this, but Ahsoka used the reverse grip a lot in Clone Wars. Kinda her 'thing' iirc. So when the lady saw the reverse grip come out, its like saying "Yeah I'm about to somewhat try now."

@@thedokkodoka4349 You do realize that the Ahsoka character has been shown using this grip since she was introduced back in the Clone Wars movie? So with her character it's not a new gimmick but an established part of her character's technique.

I love that Ahsoka gave this woman the fight she thought she wanted. Showed her opponent that they indeed were skilled. Then when she switched to her reverse grip style she showed them why that skill isn't enough and never would be. Far more devistating than simply force shoving her or speedblitzing. Give someone what they want what they think is the thing they had envisioned.... and then yank the rug out from under them.
That is a real Alucard move right there. Give the adversaries the illusion of a chance, of hope, and then totally curb-stomp them right then and there.
Fun Fact: The actress who plays the Magistrate, is Diana Lee Inosanto, she's not only a legit martial artist/stuntwoman/actress but also the daughter of Grandmaster Daniel Inosanto, Bruce Lee's close friend & student who continued to teach Bruce's Jeet Kune Do fighting style after his death.
She's a veteran stuntperformer, who has worked on countless movies/tv-shows and is also teaching martial arts.
Thanks for the fact
In other words that girl is a badass

Yes! She's Bruce Lee's godchild and was Aaron Eckhart and Melissa McCarthy's trainer for their respective action movies and fight choreographer for RE:Apocalypse. No wonder the magistrate looked so familiar - I love anything FMA and am a big fan of anything Inosanto, Jeff Imada, and Ron Balicki (Diana Lee's husband!) - so pleasantly surprised when she appeared on screen. Wielding that beskar spear near the opening, I already knew the final battle will be between spear vs dual sabers - wasn't disappointed!
For those who asked why Ahsoka's fight with her was different.
1. You can't be careless and open with someone trained by Thrawn.
2. Ahsoka was trying to not kill her head-on or go too hard. She needed that information from her
And she was going a little easy to have some fun.
@@Dakarai_Knight yes
Its because its harder to choreograph a fight holding a blade backwards since this isn’t a cartoon where you can easily animate hard to perform movements

The writer paying attention? Wasn’t this episode written by the guy who created her?
@@NTWoo95 yes, and he also directed the episode lol

I like the fact that Ahsoka's only reason to fight was to disarm the magistrate and ask questions. she didnt even need to fight longer than mere seconds, she has been in full control the whole fight, and clearly pulls back in order not to do anything more than disarming her adversary. she goes full Ahsoka only when the magistrate disarms her, so she gets tired of toying around and wins in a matter of seconds
In essence, Ahsoka fights like a Jedi even if she's not a Jedi anymore. It's a great detail.
Because they were knowing each other and they had different objectives. The Magistrate wanted straight forward kill Ahsoka and prove her habilities in battle. Ahsoka on the other hand didn`t need to prove anything but to have her disarmed, tell her important intel and have her removed from the city administration. But Ahsoka needed to know the limits of her adversary.
@@alexandrelot2798 i'm not fully sure that Morgan Elsbeths objective here is to actually kill Ahsoka. I've theorised that she is one of the Ming Po, a group of people that were massacred by Death Watch during the Clone Wars (at which Bo Katan and Ahsoka were present). In this light and the fact that she works as one of Thrawns agents, her fight with Ahsoka can easily be to finally vent out the inner turmoil that she's harboured since, as well as allow Ahsoka to earn the information she seeks as a warrior (her actions on Corvus acting as a beacon fire that an empathic Jedi would be drawn to resolve, and doubly so for Ahsoka as she's looking for ezra at this time).

@@Cailus3542 Ahsoka is more of a Jedi than most actual Jedi of the order.
People like to ask "Why did Ahsoka almost lose to her?" The answer is simple: she wasn't taking the fight serious.
Anyone who is a fan of Ahsoka knows that her natural fighting style is reverse grip. The majority of that duel, Ahsoka was standard grip. When she got serious and switched to reverse grip @2:10, the fight was over in 15 seconds.
Ahsoka was distinctly going for a disarm and interrogate too. With this woman potentially being trained by Thrawn, Ahsoka wasn't taking chances either, so she fought reactively, and once she had the measure of her enemy, Ahsoka beat through her defences and disarmed her
I feel like if she started off with her reverse grip style, the magistrate would have lost immediately. But she needed information out of her, so she tested her.
@@willhyde5026 I noticed that Ahsoka went for a couple of killing strokes, but luckily the magistrate was able to dodge and block those.
@@zacharygilmore1075
You can compare it to Jack Sparrow testing Will Turner (Curse of the Black Pearl).
Jack tested him with some basic attacks and when he easily counters it, he added more intensity and even asks how is his foot work. So I'm quite surprised with people saying she's weak when she isn't.
When I saw that she switched grips, I just nodded and said she's dead. She's done this before with the Inquisitors lol! She knelt offering the enemy to strike her down then she just disarmed the sister and ended her with a force push for a bitch slap.
Exactly. The instant Ahsoka went to her usual reverse grip, Elsbeth was finished.
The attention to detail in the Mandolorian is astonishing. The fighting styles are on point. Ahsoka fights with emotion like her master, while Luke fought in a very calm collected manner. Like the force was guiding his every move.
I mean, his hood covered his eyes, so I’m pretty sure that’s exactly how it went. He was fighting in Jedi Ultra Instinct mode😂
In EU, there's a part where Luke actually lets the force [guide him] whereas the common Jedi/Sith use the force to [assist them] in battle. In his hallway scene, that's why he moves so much more smoothly (supposedly) rather than jumpy movements with the lightsaber.
I mean, it's not really "on point." She could have ended the fight at the very beginning during the first block just by casually sliding her saber down the length of the spear and slicing off the Magistrate's fingers. Lightsabers aren't swords. They're fucking lasers-on-a-handle. You would NOT fight like that with a lightsaber if they were real.
Nevermind the magical mass the "blades" get when they're ignited in the shows. Even the center of gravity changes when they're thrown; it's the handle that should be spinning, not the full fucking length of the weapon.
@@DocFunkenstein well don’t forget that Jedi use the force on their Sabers. A lot of what happens is because they use the force. Like ur supposed to hold the ignition button down on a saber so the only way they are able to throw it in the first place is because they are using the force to ignite it in the air. Which also explains why the momentum is at the laser not the hilt. That being said ur right about that one scene with Ahsoka.
Seems like productions nowadays have no choice but to pay attention to detail. Viewers apt to rip you a new one if there are any holes
To everyone wondering why the Magistrate had a chance: Ahsoka used the force in this fight a total of zero times AND she used a standard grip on her sabers up until right after she lost one of them. Once the reverse grip came out, she began to give 10% of her effort and the fight lasted 15 seconds. She didn't want to kill the magistrate, she needed information. She coulda force pulled the spear out of the Magistrates hand at any time, but chose not to.
Ahsoka learned from Frieza
Or used the lightsaber to just slide down the spear and take her arm off on the first block. The fight was slightly honourable, Ahsoka was just giving her a chance to show off a little, but then when the fight needed finishing. Bam. Done.
Holy shit you’re a nerd 😂😂😂😂

Reasons the magistrate lasted as long as she did:
1) Ahsoka wasn't trying to kill her, so she was taking it easy. She was only trying to disarm her opponent to get info on Thrawn.
2) it's heavily implied that the Magistrate is a survivor of Dathomir. Her makeup artist outright says this and Ahsoka herself states that her people were massacred during the Clone Wars. Morgan Elsbeth is honestly a very witchy name too if you think about it. Being a force sensitive witch would explain a lot.
3) It's only when Ahsoka was disarmed did she realize she was underestimating the Magistrate. Once Ahsoka lost her second saber and took on her usual stance, the fight was over in seconds.
As he says ^
And she is à night Sister... à witch , it makes sense now

i love how instead of just force pushing her or force choke her or just overwhelmed her with pure speed and strength alone, Asoka decides to just beat her in combat showing her that even while holding back she’s more stronger then her. My god we need her series NOW!!
also this is just a small nitpick for me but Ahsoka Tano is one of the most agile characters in Star Wars, i wish we would have seen more of that to be honest. Ashoka likes to jump a lot during battles, and likes to use her agility to her advantage but i mean by the end of a new hope Asoka must be in her early 30’s by now so it makes scene why she isn’t jumping around like in Clone wars haha but still a very well executed performance by Rosario Dawson who made one of my dream cameo appearances come true. much love ^^

I think Rosario Dawson did a great job as Ahsoka. The little mannerisms, the eyes, even the voice and tone all fit the character. My only issue is with the montrails. The montrails look to be the same size when she was 14 at the start of the clone wars. She is in her mid 40s ish now and should be closer to what they were like in Rebels. Other than that, Bravo!
yeah that's what I was thinking too it certainly bugged me a bit but her performance was quite good and I can't wait to see more :)
Maybe it would have been too heavy for her to wear and it would be a bit harder to even move around in them, but I see your point and I agree.
@@leonidasrising5998 I'm pretty certain that's exactly the reason. Go look at how terrible Shaak Ti looked in the prequels. Ahsoka could've looked that bad.
I get that length wise they would have been impossible for Rosario to do the stunts with if they were Ashoka's adult length, but I kina wish they had made them out of a little better material.
The "small" montrails are for functional purposes. Some things that work on print or in animation just wouldn't work in live action, and would just look goofy and off.

Right. So, to me, the beginning of the fight was a nod towards the original trilogy, and their "old man fight". THEN, they steadily amped it up, until the magistrate could no longer keep up the pace.
I agree with all of you, Ahsoka was formed by Anakin, lived through the Clone Wars, battled Darth Maul, AND Darth freaking Vader in her time. She could have ended the fight in seconds. But disarming someone without killing them is a lot harder than just dealing a killing blow I think. She had to be careful with how much she put in the fight, or she'd have killed her by mistake.
She mainly fight with reverse grip, yet didn't used it until she was disarmed. This is proof enough that she was going easy on her opponent. But the magistrate did put up a good fight for a non force user against a confirmed jedi knight. Not that strange for an old Thrawn subordonate, the grand admiral was, himself, a good fighter even against Jedis.
OR, she could disarmed her in 2 seconds flat with a smile on her face. They wanted to make it feel more serious and set up the lady as a better opponent. It was a bad idea...

This is always how I imagine it. Samurai style. With pause in between. The choreograph is just in right amount. No unecessarry lightsaber movement or swing.
and no unnecessary music...
You know y’all basically just disrespected obi wan and qui gon vs darth maul which is the best lightsaber duel of all time
@@mari2x474 not really. That one is one of my fave too.
A lot of people hate on Rebels (for good reason sometimes), but one thing to take away is that final, samouraï-style Kenobi vs Maul duel. Short, precise, both characters looking for the advantage before the fight even starts, and then a few streaks of light saber and the fight is over.
@@alexandrearrive6199 I prefer this too. It makes the duels feel more personal and visceral. I think back to the first duel between Luke and Vader in Empire Strikes Back in the carbonite pit.

Disney has gotten so, so many things wrong with SW. The use of Ahsoka was perfection. They hit the jackpot with rosario dawson. Whatever she wants to be paid, pay it. Can we just pretend like the sequels never happened and rewrite the whole thing with Luke and Ahsoka in it?
I fucking agree so much, get the new trilogy out of her and make it about Luke, Leia, and ahsoka finishing the sky walker series.
Agree. Sequel trilogy horrible. Horrible.
They had so much stuff from the books sanctioned by Lucas that they could've used and instead they went off in a different direction and none of the movies really even connect to each other

Last jedi: Luke dies of exhaustion and is scared to do anything

Wdym? The only thing Disney got wrong with SW were those damn sequels, they could've been made better, even with the new characters. But the rest of star wars products so far had been from quite good to acceptable, with some few exceptions
There is actually a good third trilogy where they can take a lot of source material from. Its called heir of the empire, the original thrawn triliogy.
Yeah theyre working on decanonising sequels and solo but dont rush them...
From 2:12-2:13 if you pay attention, you see the magistrate's eyes widen with fear and suprise when Ahsoka changed her grip. As the Audience, we know when this happened, Ahsoka conveyed the Message "Alright, Playtime is Over"

This reminds me of Maul’s fight with Vizla. I feel like Ahsoka was just toying with the magistrate (I mean come on she isn’t even force sensitive. There’s no way she could’ve kept up with even a fully trained Jedi in a duel that actually was trying) but the moment she pulled a (debatable) dirty move disarming Ahsoka she ended the battle seconds afterward.
@@Allsoproductions The resonance of the spear, that weird wiring sound that starts after she bangs it, disrupts the connection with the force so it was more of an equal footing. However Ahsoka's power started to defeat that, hence the change in the sound.

Ya, she was sizing her up. When she got disarmed is when she was like "Ok, time to get serious"
"Where is Grand Admiral Thrawn?"

@@mariocar0727 It only took me a few minutes to fall in love with her after she stepped off the drop ship in the Clone Wars movie. I wasn't too sure at first, but when she called Anakin "Sky Guy" I just knew she was gonna be awesome! 😁
You can tell Ahsoka wasn't even putting her all into that fight. She just wanted to show how easy it is to defeat the Magistrate with little power, forcing the woman to submit and answer the question about Thrawn. Or maybe Ahsoka wanted to amuse the woman with the little duel. Who knows
Probably both, knowing her.
I really like this fight, reminded me a lot of the Obi-Wan vs Maul duel on Tatooine. The Magistrate clearly knew what she was doing and they spent a lot of time testing each other, which I love. Ashoka won easily yeah but it was definitely a really cool fight. Great to see her back, hopefully we are getting a show centred around her. The opening sequence with her taking out the guys in the fog was so damn good!!

Ahsoka Thano(s)
Wow
And here we are in the new Ahsoka series, Morgan Elsbeth being a right pain in Ahsoka's side again
the way she duels it's just so... wise and respectful, at the same time it's mortal and badass
AND THE SOUND OF HER SABER? Awesome! we need more different sounds of lightsaber in live action (kylo's saber it's kinda cool)
What I think is really interesting is that Ahsoka’s sabers make exactly the same sound as Darth Vader’s, only pitched up half an octave. Despite sounding completely different, it’s made from the same recording from before 1977.
I like that sound too
I also like different saber sounds. Vader's, Ahsoka's, Kylo Ren's, and the Darksaber.
I know right I love her sound on her sabers I had to go and buy me the light saber that had her sounds in color which is why I love her to death, she’s one of the most powerful Jedis besides Luke Aniken Obi-Wan Kenobi, supposedly mace windu was supposed to be the best with the light sabers no I disagree I think that is Ahsoka. Due to her reverse grip, yeah I bought one dueling light saber that has everybody even count Dooku then I bought the dueling light saber of Kylos I have the actual saber, that thing is heavy as hell LOL but it is awesome
For those that don't know; The reason it makes that noise is because of the crystals inside her lightsabre. A sith who uses the force on their kyber crystal will make it turn red due to the hate and rage. The reason why Ahsoka's lightsabres are white is because the crystals originally belonged to an inquisitor or sith (can't remember) who had red sabres. When Ahsoka extracted the hate and rage from the crystals they turned white leading to why her lightsabre color is a pure white.
2:12 You can see the fear on Magistrate face when Ahsoka finally uses reverse grip and she realizes that real duel begins.
This fight was phenomenal, to me at least, seeing the progression, the control, then seeing the fear on the magistrates face. Ahsoka is NEXT LEVEL, she was always in control of this fight. Not even Darth Maul could kill her, came close though. The magistrate was good but never truly stood a chance against Ahsoka. She was just toying with her, she could have ended it rather quickly.
Reverse grip is stupid and you would only ever use it if you're a fictional character fighting a moron.
@@turrible2s She is a fictional character... She's fighting a space wizard, having a back handed grip isn't a liability in their world.
@@turrible2s Blade momentum isn't necessary with a lightsaber - the blade will blaze through anything it touches except those materials resistant to it and another lightsaber. Reverse grip, while controversial, gives Ahsoka the leverage that icepick-gripping a dagger would, and this iteration of Ahsoka mixes standard grip and reverse well. The only stupid thing about reverse grip is the danger of hitting oneself, and Ahsoka has had decades to learn not to hit herself with her own blades.
Side note, daggers and spears can be used reverse-gripped. The grip is far from stupid - it is the application that makes it unwise. Note how Ahsoka flips her grip constantly in other fights, and primarily fights standard gripped in this one. She isn't stupid, she knows the ins and out of her chosen style

2:09 this this right here is why I love reverse grip. People ever fight anyone who uses a reverse grip style ever in the time they are training so once someone breaks it out they become very hesitant because the angle of attack changes it is not an easy prediction and it shows the person is very clearly skilled to be using a super unorthodox fighting method
Definitely shows ahsoka has had enough
Indeed. Back in early high school, I used to have lightsaber duels with a friend and he would be winning a majority of them. I decided to practice using the reverse grip (thank you Force Unleashed lol) and I was able to pull more than a few victories over him.
Nowadays, we’ve been equally matched without much differences as our styles have evolved past what we used to have.
Long story short: an unorthodox style (when properly trained and practiced) can overcome typical forms of combat
Just a disclaimer to anyone reading this, reverse grip doesn’t apply to actual real life, this is just fantasy.
@@tweso1499 same, I had a group of buddies who’d all be slow duelling and they were all mirroring each other’s strikes, didn’t work against me for some reason, ends up discovering that I’m subconsciously left handed. It was pretty neat when we all figured it out and we were all surprised.
@@tweso1499 Funny story actually. So in gym class the other day, me and my friends were playing badminton and my team was losing. Mostly due to my fault cause I kept missing the birdie. We were just playing for fun and we were already losing the game so I thought "why the fuck not" and decided to switch my grip on the racket to the reversed grip like Ahsoka's. In the ancient Mandalorian Wars the mandoa cruzades uses meele weapons made by beskar like her armours. Is wonderful see the classical lore being adapted in this canon series.
Vibro blades
The sound that beskar makes when it blocks a lightsaber is honestly the most satisfying thing.
it's so funny to me that a throwaway line in _a new hope_ brought us this scene. "your father fought in the clone war" or something along that line. did lucas know what that meant when the script was written? i don't know, but if it wasn't for a single line of dialogue from old crazy ben, we never would have had ahsoka, rex, hondo, ventress or this fight scene. amazing.
also: that cloak drop. kenobi would be proud.
He always knew, up till prequels at any rate. He pretty much explained that "his" Star Wars was about telling the story of Anakin Skywalker, his rise and his fall up till his redemption and death.
When he produced TCW and Ahsoka was intoduced, he definitely knew someone this close to Anakin would be long lasting... or very short lived.
