@Hei_Darkfire, he’s not really a Sith. He’s like a grey Jedi, but closer to the Dark Side. That’s why their lightsabers are orange instead of red.

We already have kylo ren. He is already a former jedi with a traumatic past that understands why the jedi failed including his uncle. He has a clear goal but a conflict to overcome: "let the past die. Kill it if you have to. It's the only way to become what you're meant to be". But deep down, he doesn't want to let go of the oast. I mean, he also had that kind of dialogue. Baylan skoll would fall short next to kylo in the sequels. Literally the only bad thing people have to say about him is that he gets angry easily xd

I've always loved how Lightsaber combat forms mimic real life historical combat forms to an extent. However, once Ashoka body'd his apprentice, the GLOVES CAME OFF. Baylan went full send and overpowered Ahsoka easily, in defence of his Padawan.

Daenerys was ultimately in pursuit of a duty that hadn’t been intended for her.
She was just a princess, in the beginning.
But then, all of a sudden, she is (as far as she knows) the last Targaryen.
So she has to assume that mantle and pursue the throne, as any Targaryen, as any conqueror would.
But in the beginning, all she’d really wanted was that house with the red door.

Daenerys was hypocritical. She wanted to end the cycle of rulers and the ruled by being…the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms? Of the world? Her crusade was a flimsy reason to justify her conquest.

It's more that Daenerys wanted to rule in a manner where she wasn't as removed from the smallfolk, or as ignorant/cruel towards their plights, as her father had been. Or the Lannisters and their allies.
That's the kind of wheel she's talking about, the kind of petty infighting and power plays that often trample the smallfolk or actively abuse them.
Daenerys was a conqueror, no two ways about it. But prior to the absolute disaster of writing that was Season 8, she was relatively more moral than several other rulers of note.
There was a pretty clear distinction between her and, say, Tywin or Cersei Lannister. Or Balon and Euron Greyjoy. Or the Boltons, and the Freys.

You know, Baylan Skoll would be the main antagonist of the Sequel Trilogy, alongside Thrawn, instead of Palpatine and Kylo Ren, as he could be considered a mix of both Qui Gon Jinn and Thanos.
A Jedi who survived Order 66, however, as he learned that the Jedi were too arrogant and got involved into politics that led to their downfall, therefore he had lost faith in the order, and so he created a new order of Dark Jedi, and turned the Knights of Ren into a military force, instead of Stormtroopers.
He would work with Grand Admiral Thrawn as they both have a common goal, achieving peace, so they made an alliance, renaming the former Galactic Empire into the Eclipse Reign, as their military forces are force user who used both the light and dark side of the Force.

Above all the other praise for Baylan Skoll, and Ray - there's one thing about his character, and the fight scenes he is in. He uses his physical strength, which is rare among the jedi and the sith. Very few force users use anything but their force power in fighting. Baylan, like Vader and Darth Malgus use their physicality in the fight to a great degree of advantage over their opponents who mostly rely on force strength.

I’m glad they are deciding to recast Baylan for the second season. Dont get me wrong, I am absolutely heartbroken by Mr Ray’s passing. But it was because of his performance that made Baylan’s character so memorable and already an iconic Star Wars character, and I dare say one of Disney’s best Star Wars creations. It would’ve been disheartening to kill off Baylan’s character when Ray brought so much to the character. I’ve seen many people say that Baylan outshines Ahsoka in her own series, and I agree. I remember that after the third episode, I was ALL IN for Baylan. I’m excited to see what is in store for his character for the future. But I am so thankful for the performance Ray gave. Im hoping that the new actor for Baylan realizes what Ray brought to the character, and pays tribute in his portrayal. Rest in peace Ray

@@lessermook7608he will be killed in the next season through the appearance of Abeloth. The focus will be on the awakening of her and most likely the son. So I guess the character of Baylan won't get that much screentime.

Possibly the only other quote/unquote charismatic and chivalrous sith ever introduced alongside Count Dooku. You're instantly invested whenever he's on screen. Though we don't know anything about him, and we only know he's to be considered a villain, you can't help but have respect for the character and the brilliant actor who plays him. We know he's bad, but there's the sense that he truly believes what he's doing is with good intentions. That, combined with his commanding presence, makes Baylan Skoll one of the best SW characters Disney has ever given us. And I hope Ray Stevenson sees that he's getting the praise he deserves.

I wonder about his deeper motives and allegiances. He was trained and raised as a Jedi initiate, then (presumably) as an inquisitor or Sith merc but in this show he was neither Jedi nor Sith (despite the red saber). I think this is the closest approximation of a Grey Jedi/Force-User we have yet gotten to see on screen. Considering the Force in SW is likened after the Ying-Yang concept he would fit the role and his goal of finding true balance/the source does line up with that.
