- Here we have it guys ! My Favorite Character Lord Maul is finally back and have decided to upload an edit the battle that took place in the Finale episode of season 2 star wars rebels

When Maul and Ahsoka reunited, I wonder how much he had to restrain himself from telling her 'I told you so' smugly, considering he predicted what would happen in the future.
Now to be fair this was made before season 7 of the clone wars.

Why would I do that when she already knows that I was right?
Based on the fact that there were apparently rumors of Maul's survival, even being nicknamed "The Shadow," my headcanon is that between his time running a crime empire and becoming a weird cave hermit, Maul would regularly hunt down inquisitors, because he knew that if anyone would have information on Kenobi, it would be them.
We need a Maul show ASAP
that would explain his lightsaber at this point
I wanna see Maul hunt down inquisitors in the Kenobi series for this very reason.

Rebels has it's problems, but they did the power scaling really really well.
For the average Jedi, like Kanan or Ezra, an Inquisitor is a problem, a legitimate threat. For Ahsoka, a veteran of the Clone Wars and a prodigy, she can handily take them on, but can't exactly dominate them.
But Maul? Maul is a force of nature. He wipes the floor with them easily.
And Vader? Whenever Vader shows up, the goal is not to beat him, it's to get away alive.
Ashoka was even have issues with them before Maul arrived. People love to underestimate Maul’s abilities and power since he got beaten by a Padawan, bitched by Sidious, and killed by a very old Obi-Wan. But all that time in exile gave him enough time to gain knowledge, learn the force like never before, and learn to control his emotions which made him more level headed in combat. Maul‘s grown so wise with age and experience. Unfortunately he reverts back to his younger, angrier self when he encounters Obi-Wan again on Tatooine. It’s such a shame Maul didn’t use his experience and knowledge he got from all of that time he had learning, finding, and studying sith holocrons and used that to his advantage against Obi-Wan. Would’ve made for a more entertaining last battle. Sure the good guy’s gotta win for the plot, or else the events of A New Hope wouldn’t have happened or would’ve been changed drastically, but at least Maul’s last battle against his life long nemesis would’ve been a great one.
@@SonOfABith Well as for Old Kenobi, it was stated by dave filoni that in his old age he actually hadn’t weakened, and if anything was more powerful than in the clone wars, except arguably on mustafar, as for sidious, literally anyone except a handful of people would get bodied by sidious, and maul actually put up a good fight towards the end of the fight, and as for ahsoka we knew she only won due to mauls arrogance, as it was clear he was the stronger combatant, he disarmed her multiple times, and was only trying to reason with her
@@muhanaveed1999 I don’t recall that statement being said. I keep up with what Dave Filoni says. Obi-Wan hasn’t seen actual combat in probably decades. Maul has been fighting enemies since order 66. Trying to find holocrons to gain knowledge. Be it inquisitors or rogue Jedi. Maul had been walking in the deserts of Tatooine for days, maybe weeks searching for Obi-wan. While Obi-Wan has been camping probably eating while Maul has probably not eaten. Maul’s arrogance cost him the fight against Obi-Wan in the end and we all know that the plot wins in the end and the story has to go on for the sake of Obi-Wan being the one to train Luke in A New Hope.
@@SonOfABith True, another factor being that obi wan also tricked maul into using the same move he used to kill qui gon to kill obi wan, only obi wan was ready to counter it, this isn’t confirmed this is just a likely headcanon
@@muhanaveed1999 Yea it’s most likely a head canon. I did hear a lot about how Obi-Wan used the same move Qui-Gon did on Maul which fooled him into letting his guard down.
When Darth Maul pulls up I love the fact the inquisitors don't immediately run out of fear of a guy seeing them and laughing, cackling and grinning while also saying 'what fun.' I also love that Ezra sees his double-bladed RED lightsaber and goes, yeah this guy seems rational and normal to me.

@@kakapoopy9054 well to be honest, eighth brother would’ve survived if his lightsaber wasn’t damaged. And to be fair, he had to fight maul, Ashoka and kanan.
Inquisitors weren't meant to be Jedi killers. They were supposed to hunt down people like Kanon. Not fully trained padawons that kinda self taught themselves over the years. That's why the Inquisitors are fearsome foes for Kanon and Ezra, but a morning warm-up for Ashoka and Maul. Actual, fully trained Jedi and I suppose rogue Sith would have seen Vader himself dispatched.

I really like this new side of Maul. While he's ruthless to his enemies, he's sympathetic with his allies.

I mean if you compare that to normal sith style ways of teaching/recruiting students, he's actually pretty tame in rebels. Admittedly it's probably cause he knows his plans for revenge are doomed if he drives Ezra away, or cripples him, or kills him, or teaches him to give examples in run on sentence form.

I love how the Inquisitor’s still call him ‘Darth’. Obviously, they were briefed by either Vader or the Emperor about Maul, so the fact that either one or both of them still regard Maul as a Sith Lord is quite interesting. Considering that Palpatine literally told Maul to his face that he was replace by Dooku, when they were fighting on Mandolore in the Clone Wars.
sidious viewed maul as an actual loss, and an actual apprentice, unlike dooku who was just a placeholder and a puppet.
@@awesomeas2 and lets also keep in mind technicly Maul and Sidious are the only true Sith while Dooku and even Vader are both fallen Jedi
I am quite certain that Sidious was reffering to Anakin, since Dooku was merely temporalily, and both Maul and Talzin warned him in the next events that he was dispossable and his doom very close, futhermore, while Sidious considered Dooku a powerful asset, he hardly saw it as a real Sith succesor, he didn't want to teach him nothing important and himself stated exactly that.
Also, Maul was named a Sith Lord by Sidious himself, I have my doubt that such a thing can be undone, since they both went to different paths and Maul was actually ploting against him as a Sith Lord with his own agenda, even Sidious called bs to the fact that Maul was willing to return to him, he knew tha he was raising his own sith apprentice (Savage) and was trying to cheat him either for killing him or ruin his plan from inside by putting his forces into a trap.
I personally considered interesting how The Inquisitors knew of Maul, probably as the former Emperor of the InterGalactic Underworld, who was also a Sith Lord, like Darth Vader, from who they are scared terrible, trained by Darth Sidious, from whi they are terrible scared as well, and thought so arrogantly "Hey, let's hunt this guy, surely it would be fine!" and the other two Inquisitors came from Ahsoka and Kanan, originally only one Inquisitors was there "hunting" Maul known as The Shadow.
I did call dooku a fake.
I love how he was so confident about inquisitors it seems he was toying with them but with Darth Vader on his way, he ran in pure terror. Maul might have endless oceans of hate but he is no fool to go up against that or worse, Vader sparing him to bring him before Sidious.
sad thing is, in legends/old canon a resurrected Maul bested vader. Vader had to resort to what amounts to a last ditch effort to kill maul, stabbing through himself in order to win. funny how Legends Maul is so much more powerful the New cannon maul, but new cannon maul is much more durable surviving what killed him in old cannon.

His skill was unmatched in his fight against 3 inquisitors, similarly to how Ashoka owned the Inquisitors fighting her Maul is a actual Sith
Want to know how incredible his skill really is? Watch this clip at 0.25 and you will see something you never noticed before.
Maul is not just using his lightsaber but is also using his cane as a weapon,
He uses his lightsaber aggressively to catch the focus of the inquisitors on the bright light of the beam, and in the low light environment his cane is practically invisible in comparison, which he uses to deploy quick stunning strikes.
Within the first 5 seconds of the fight he manages to hit two of the inquisitors across the head with his cane
If this fight had taken place in anything other then the format of a Disney television show, say one of the books
Maul would have definitely embedded a sharpened rock into his cane.
He would have killed 2 of the inquisitors before Ezra, Canaan, and Ashoka even joined the fight

Ashoka owned them the first fight by the second time it was pretty even. Even with Kanan helping she couldn’t defeat them they needed mauls help
I really like Maul in the Clone Wars and Rebels. Pure evil, yet focused and methodical in his actions. I especially like the fact that he kinda looks after Ezra, even tho he has his own plans for the boy. That's just good writing. Disney could learn much from those shows

I ALWAYS rooted for Maul as soon as I saw him again in Clone Wars. Only exception would be when he fights Kenobi together with Savage, but of course it was already evident that Kenobi wouldn't die.

My favourite detail is when Maul looks to the sides as the two brothers are attacking and he's locked with the sister. He already knows the (not) Jedi have decided to accept his help and he just watches them join the fight with no worry whatsoever that the inquisitors could do anything to him. A bit of arrogance, but mostly trust in his allies, which shows even further that he's not a Sith.
Trust in his abilities as well. Intensive training for long enough awards you that faith in your self.
He’s definitely a Sith, because he only did that to gain their trust for personal gain. As stated by many, he basically became an “anti-hero” rather than a “villain”. He wants vengeance which is not the way of the light.

The fact that Maul was just playing around with the inquisitors the entire time...
In retrospect, it actually surprised me that Ahsoka didn't absolutely stomp these inquisitors.
I mean, she kinda did. She had her own badass moment of going 2v1 and winning without even trying earlier in the season. At one point she even deliberately turned off her blades, let the 7th Sister swing at her, then grabbed 7S's lightsaber by the hilt mid-swing and tossed it away.
And yet Maul is still the better fighter of the two.

Maul has such a unique fighting style. You can easily pick him out in this fight because of that, despite the mess of red sabers. He has always loved to throw kicks during fights. And with those metal legs getting hit by one of those kicks has got to suck

@@calpone6399 Thats also because Maul uses the Sith exclusive lightsaber form known as Juyo. It involves using hatred and instinct to fight and fuel the moves specifically and cannot be performed without darkside emotions. So much so that the Jedi order banned its use and the only Jedi able to modify it to make it useable by them was Mace Windu who calls it Vaapad
God just the “what fun!!!” With his laugh sends chills along with Ashoka it just really shows that the empires new men can’t compare to the caliber of the clone wars veterans.

The Grand Inquisitor then taught the others what he knew
It’s why the Grand Inquisitor was the greatest of them, he was the closest thing to being the apprentice of the Dark Lord
While the others were fed scarps of knowledge so they can do their job as Jedi Hunters. They’re not meant to be too powerful or they’ll be threats to the Sith
So when the Grand Inquisitor died, his demise presents opportunities to the remaining Inquisitors, it’s as if any of them could be the next Grand Inquisitor and can learn at Vader’s feet as well
But that never happened, Maul saw to that

Ahsoka: "Your master trained me before he become Darth Vader. And he trained me properly, not whatever Vader teach you."

The difference between Maul and other sith is that he actually is loyal to his brother and other apprentices unlike Sidious and Vader

@@michaelkean5969 I'd argue quite the opposite. That's why it had to be Sidious to turn him because Anakin's loyalty would not break easily. What really was the breaking point was not Anakin's loyalty, but the loyalty and trust of the Jedi. If the Jedi didn't try pushing Anakin away and holding back, and giving credit to his experience and perspective, Anakin may never had turned. He was loyal to everyone and everyone else broke that first. Hell, for a quick moment he would've arrested Palpatine if Windu chose his words a bit more wisely.

Maul really went from a side-villain with no more than an insignificant line or too in the least well recieved SW movie (at the time...) To one of the most complex and developed characters in the whole franchise. They REALLY should do a Maul spin-off like they did for Kenobi if they introduce him in a flashback in Ahsoka. It would be awesome if they could ultimately end his story like they did in Rebels.

I always liked the idea of a Dark Sider like Maul allying with the Rebel Alliance to fight the Sith out of his own self-interest as an anti-hero or anti-villain, rather than a Jedi working with the Rebels "because it's the right thing to do".
Like, the idea of a Sith Lord who saves the galaxy mostly by extension of being out to save himself is just such a cool one.
It’s actually amazing to see that Darth Maul is one of the oldest characters in this show. Besides Sidious, Obi-Wan, and Yoda, he’s the oldest one there from the prequel days. It’s amazing so much time has past and he’s still kicking.

LOL He's NOT at all "chaotic good" AT ALL, he's definitely chaotic natural to anti-villain status but FAR from "Good" at all as he was planning to still kill obiwan and even luke when he was just a kid.
I would call him True Neutral, funnily enough. He is fighting against the Sith, but just out of personal reasons. But he is willing to ally with everyone he needs, to reach his goals and to build or distroy every system he needs to do so. He doesn't care about methods, morals or therelike, he just has a goal and the strength to pursue it
It was all for personal gain. He also wanted vengeance, which, is not the way of light. So, many call him an “anti-hero” instead of his earlier title of being a villain.

They don't kill helpless/disarmed enemies. That's not "killing", that's execution which goes against the Jedi way. A Jedi kill has to be in the defense of self or others.

I actually can appreciate the artistic talent it takes to have someone killed on screen without making it too excessive for younger audiences. That takes skill. It might come across as corny for older viewers but realistically you can’t just have Maul out here gutting fools with a lightsaber on screen.

@@sicksadworld765 yeah but this show was on disney, not cartoon network, cartoon network was 100% more lenient with deaths, so you could get some pretty nasty kills on that one, whereas disney is so adamant on child-friendly that the one time they allowed an onscreen death (amphibia) the show had to put a 15 second warning at the start of the damn episode saying "someone gets STABBED" and it wasnt even that violent, just shocking, wouldnt be surprised if we got way more gruesome deaths and themes in this show if not for disney bullshit

I honestly don't care about the Jedi code excuse at this point in the show, there was no reason for Ezra not to finish the inquisitor when he kills all sorts of imperials.
I think the issue is less with killing and more brutal executions fueled by anger against a defenseless foe. Killing a foe in the heat of battle out of necessity is rather distinct from that to many people.
Actually, I don't think that Ezra directly kills any imperials until after the time skip. He only stuns them.

There is a difference between shooting back at a soldier activity trying to kill you, and executing a woman caught helplessly in a Force grip. Maul was purposefully trying to get Ezra to cross that moral line. Otherwise, he would have killed 7th Sister himself earlier or let the battle between Ezra and 7th Sister play out normally

Anonymous what’s interesting is that the only difference in power between palpatine and maul is their knowledge in the force. Palpatine is more knowledgeable which gives him the advantage, while in lightsaber combat they are near equals. With further training, maul would have become more powerful than sidious.
