I'm watching this in 2019. So far, this was the most simple recipe I've seen for rock candy, and the only one to use kool aide. Great video.

Add 3 cups of sugar to1 cup of water and then you only wait 5 days to a week

After you take those out, can you put more skewers in the sugar water and grow more?
I love this so much! You are so creative! AND CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You deserve every single one of those subscribers, and MANY more!
To help them grow, take each stick out of its glass every 1-2 days and put it into a clean glass. Strain the goo, and pour the clear liquid into the fresh glass with the stick. (You can nibble the remaining crystals or redissolve them if you can resist!)

Yeah Sanilla. There can be different ways to spell names. As in Sarah, and Sara.and Kris and Christ. Names can be spelt differently, depending on how their family members decide.
Just a quick tip, you can put the jars on a heating pad, and that will increase the amount of growth. I did a science fair project on the fastest ways to grow sugar crystals and the best way to grow them is on a heating pad!

It takes about 3-5 days usually

I read the comments before watching actual video, by the way. People are saying she stated that it takes about 2 weeks. It doesn't. If you do it correctly, it should take like, 2-5 days. I boil water, add tons of sugar, disolve the sugar, let it cool down. Then I take a popsicle stick and tape it so its atleast and inch up from the bottom of the cup that your supposed to pour the syrup you made in. After a few hours, you notice cyrstalization. (Sorry if I spelled that wrong). I eyeball everything but it turns out really good anyways. I put koolaid with the sugar and the actual candy itself ends up tasting like a glass of koolaid.

Looming Land there are a bunch of recipes for making these online, she probably just researched and made her own unique way by adding and getting rid of some steps, but maybe she didn't, I don't know for sure of course lol
If you want a real answer, it's because it takes time for the sugars in the substances to crystallize. Therefore, it takes a long time.

I made these today, they turned out very well
I had to order kool aid because we didn't have here, but when I tried the diy, it was brilliant, I loved making it because it was really fun!! I will make it another time for parties!!!!

Rock candy is my all time favorite candy. It's a favorite to both my older sisters too. I grew up in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, Canada, and we live about almost an hour away from this park. Upper Clements Park. Unfortunately, it's going out of business, and they sell rock candy at the gift shop. It disappoints me that they're closing, because I love going up every summer. I hoped that someday if I had children, I could take them there. But things can't last forever, and I'm pretty sure someday they'll put something nice in Upper Clements' place.

omg i remember when i first subscribed to your channel happy 1 million
for you science geeks (me) rock candy is formed by saturating water (with sugar), then boiling it and further saturating it until the point of supersaturation. then adding more of the substance that the water is supersaturated to causes the molecular structures of the sugar to react with the supersaturated water to form crystals. :-)

The rock candy look so yummy
After you remove the rock candy sticks, leave the mixture in the glass until it has finished crystallizing. Now shatter it all up and use as a fun flavored sugar for tea, guests, cupcakes, etc.
