I've spent over 500 hours on this damn game, you do bring up some good points but if you're someone who doesn't mind instances it can be a really fun game. Since the combat system revolves heavily around your mouse you get to just keep clicking away, and I get so much satisfaction out of just hacking and slashing and going into combos. If there was an open world version of Vindictus with more features I probably wouldn't have a life.
Well, if you're as hyped for an open-world vindictus-esque game as you say you are, I have one 7 day guest pass you can use to give it a shot. Lmk if you want it and I'll pm it to you, else I'll be saving it for someone who wants to try it.
Lawlophile I appreciate the offer, but I am currently on the Overwatch hype train a mere 4 minutes away from taking off, and I plan to play the game non-stop. Thanks anyways though!
+Lawlophile not really , the combat isn't as fun or fluid as vindictive...its more along the lines of being a more fleshed out Tera than vindictus like...not to mention story is pretty crap in BD
I have to give my input here. I've done over 2000 hours into Vindictus and I have multiple characters at endgame. You do not know Vindictus until you have at hit at least level 60 and started doing the raids. The game is literally nothing but raids against "epic" bosses that will kill you in 3 hits. Vindictus does not have a healer, dps, and tank class system. Everyone is dps class. The game centers around learning the boss attack patterns and maneuvering yourself around, dodging the boss attacks, and attacking the boss when it's safe to do so. The joy of the game comes from finding out the most opportune moments to attack and figuring out how to kill the boss faster by fitting in more attacks. If you base Vindictus off of anything before lvl 60 you won't get to know anything about Vindictus. With that said, I'm quitting Vindictus. Nexon/Devcat continues to pile on the requirement that you spend money to be comfortable in the game. So no more for me.
Chainblade Vella must dodge. Even sword Vella must dodge sometimes, and in the common terminology that the veteran playerbase uses for the game, your crosscut mechanic is your dodge mechanic. You only have to pay if you suck at the game.
Just going to address some of the cons you brought up. Honestly Vindictus as a game doesn't start until you hit level 60 that's when most of the story picks up and you get a few more of those "cinematic scenes". The game is heavily instanced(by far my biggest peev of the game) and doesn't include very much exploration but this is kinda, sorta improved upon in 2nd and 3rd season content(which I recommend you be level 60 or above to go into to)but those can still be kind of repetitive after a while. As for character creation...well honestly you cant do much along the lines of the base character build, but a lot of the later level gear looks pretty badass. Unfortunately if you want any real sort of "individuality" with your character you're gonna need NX. From what I've seen in this game requires very specific type of people to be really into it but there are alot people who just pick the game up when they have nothing to play. This game really shies when you have some friends to talk to while playing for some real fun. Vindictus has plenty of potential with almost as many problems but I still love it. This coming from a Lvl 85 main ongoing player so take from it what you will. P.S. Awesome vid Peon keep em coming.
I always thought this game looked really interesting since it's one of the only MMOs to run on the source engine. It sucks how such a cool concept can get brought down by copy paste dungeon and bosses.
+PixelCatGamer High level bosses have a good amount of variety. There's an ice age mammoth, a huge snake, a train robot, an android with spider legs, a 4-armed monster angel, three dragons with different elemental abilities, and some other things.
+PixelCatGamer you obviously havnt gotten to the end game yet. theres A LOT of unique bosses later in the game. giant dragons, a big red ogre, a giant serpent, more dragons ( they all have different abilities) giant spiders, a succusbus, shiet, even a thing that looks like Anima from Final Fantasy X. skeleton reapers, knights, this game has Plenty to offer, its just boring as fuck after you get over how unique the combat system is.
+PixelCatGamer It doesn't have a lot of copy bosses dungeons by look alike some of them but it plays really good looks really good you have to get into the game for a bit before you get to the really good things of the game
This is probably one of my favorite games since everything except the copy and paste dungeons. Also, I do agree that this game would be better with an open world exploration and open dungeons instead of copy and paste. I agree with the cons except for the narrative, although they are PNG images, they have very unique personalities and the story is actually pretty interesting. One thing that contributes to this game's emtertainment value is the end-game raids that are a lot of fun so to enjoy Vindictus, you'll need to be at the end game rather than just at the beginning.
+Poro Oreos I agree with the first two points but that's exactly what makes up an MMO/RPG however, money? You don't need money unless you are impatient as heck.
You need investment if you want to make a really good game b/c you need good artists and animators and people who are smart and you need to pay people and all of the technology needed.ℜ✦νєℕ
Poro Oreos You don't need a high budget to make a good game, take Undertale for example, it's made by only a few people and was considered one of the best games of all time.
While the presentation sucks, the main story of Vindictus is actually quite good - I tell most of my friends that try the game to read the story content on their first play, then skip it after that since it doesn't change, obviously. The combat gets a lot deeper as you get into higher levels and the repetitive dungeon design goes away when you get into the "Season 2" content, which takes place in several zones which are all instanced, but otherwise open-ended. You also get a lot of raid content at high levels and some of the end game content gets genuinely challenging. The biggest complaints about the game that I can muster are that it does have a P2W aspect (consumables like potions that don't require animation times, self and party rez, cosmetic items with attached stats, etc) and the servers get unstable when they run big events and during the holidays. The game definitely has some obvious flaws, but I personally think it's an overall good game.
yea the combat gets better and harder ,depending on class. But reading dialogs all the time anoying af, for some ppl.once u reach max lv its only grind sesion/daily dungs over and over for end game gear. The boat part is realy annoying its say's raids but feels like dungs over and over.got bored of all after 5months swiched classes to keep some interest .but ended not playing anymore but thats my opinion.
Dreznin Ive played for awhile and i agree with comment ive recently reached to season 3 which is hard as fuck but its really fun and looks pretty good.
if you're ever interested in learning more about the story, i'm pretty sure that this is a prequel to mabinogi, which up to gen12 has a really interesting plotline. too bad nexon drove that shit to the ground lmao
OMG PERFECT TIMING! I just got myself some evening food and i notice a new video from LazyPeon! Food always tastes better when you have something enjoyable to watch :3
Is Runes of Magic still around? I remember trying that game out when I got bored with WoW and a lot of people claimed it was supposed to be a WoW clone. You could try that game out, but I don't know if anyone even plays it anymore.
+PixelCatGamer ITs still alive but with very low population and i dont think peon would enjoy it because of how dated it is and the graphics show how old it is now
hey, ive been playing this game since beta. we need to start the movement for a new open world mmo with this gameplay. all these new mmos suck. whos with me! (and vindictus amazing gameplay, the rest of the game is outdated)
Could you please take another look at Vindictus now? I would love to hear/see what you think of it now, you must admit the combat is awesome :p . apparently there is new stuff coming on the 11th of December.
Few things from veteran player. There will be soon UI update in Europe and NA. About dungeons. Yes, they are boring copy-paste. Game starts at 60-70 lvl when you can go daily raids, they are tough ones when you start playing Vindictus. And actually its sequel of Mabinogi, korea name is Mabinogi Heroes. Vindictus takes place in past. It makes sense when you know story :P
Hato1992 i know that mabinogi is released earlier than vindictus i played a crapton of mabinogi also one of the people who got happy when mabinogi 2 got cancelled cause it was just another vindictus game and not mabinogi
I was wondering, since it will be in closed beta again on November 13, that you will do a first impression on Blade & Soul when it will be released Free 2 Play in February?
+Tiear Rose I'm gonna cover end game stuff for blade and soul in a few weeks, I can't do a genuine first impression for the western release though as I played the "Play B&S" server in a first impression not realizing it was a out of date
+TheLazyPeon You can get into the Western beta easy enough. Keys are being given away on many fan sites. Thanksgiving week beta goes on for a week. You really need to remake the 1st one you did to right a wrong. Your video comes up first in all the searches for Blade and Soul first impression. Since your impression was off of a game that was a several year old beta version please redo it to rectify the mistake. Thank you
Whooo! Thanks Peon for another great video! You always entertain me and it's great to watch when I'm bored on the bus ride home. Keep at the great content
I stopped playing vindictus an year or two ago but not because it was bad but the community died a bit and nexon really screwed up ( per usual), i enjoy watching yoour vids but vindictus is an dungeon crawler so obviously there won't be an open world to explore and i totally understand that you don't like the way they presented qeusts but i personally loved it and if you take the time to actually read the story those dungeons get alot more bearable.(Since u will know why ur in the dungeon in the first place) Like alot of games vindictus is all about the endgame. raids in this game are really challenging and fun to play and one more thing vindictus has prob the best story in all the games i've played in my life so far which are quite a few. I even find it better than most books. The story and the way they implented it in the game was just amazing, sry i got a little bit salty when you skipped over the story aspect of the game
peon, I need to say thanks. thanks for doing a video on wildstar. I downloaded it yesterday, played for a super long time, and enjoyed it like fucking crazy. still enjoying it, and almost to the level 15 dream! :D now I officially have a game to play other than warlords of dumbnor.
+The Potato Same here, I downloaded Wildstar after watching his video, now I'm hooked. I'm so glad I found something that looks like it could take the place in the whole in my heart that WoW left when I could no longer afford to play it. Vindictus is still an MMO that I play regularly for 4 years now.
+Alp Ertan it's not impossible to have a game called skyrim 2. improbable and probably not the best idea, but not impossible. all they'd have to do is name it that.
***** I was joking to begin with, but technically you can name a game whatever you want regardless of whether it's in a series or not. I could go make a game right now and call it "Banana Hammer 5" if I wanted to, without making a 1-4. If Bethesda chose to drop the Elder Scrolls name for a game and call a it Skyrim 2, they could.
MANNN you're god damn right lol, that comment came out of someone who doesn't even read the story. It's better if he play games with more open mind to do the pros n cons. An "open world" doesn't always make a good game, and an "instance world" doesn't mean its a bad game.
i know its an old video, but guild wars 2 did something similar with it's opening sequences, except it's unique for all of the different races. you basically start off in a battle/warzone and it ends with a boss fight. super cool concept to get you hyped
You hit the nail on the head with your review of Vindictus, good job. Will you be doing an update for Skyforge? I noticed your last review was a bit early in open beta.
Vindictus is fun, when you have people to do some of the dungeons with. I've been playing this game on the US servers since they first released the dragon raids (When they were ridiculously hard and you had to work as a team to kill them)(Took like 2 hours to kill one). Even though the game is primarily instanced based, the story, if you invest in it, is real entertaining to follow. Some characters die because you couldn't rescue them, while others can die because you kill them. When you start to unlock even more of your characters moves, the combat just keeps getting better. All in all, it's a good game when you start and maintains itself by playing with other people on higher lvls.
Vindictus have the Best combat system in whole mmorpg genre. Very sophisticated but rewarding. Itd skill floor decreased a lot during years but cealing is Way higher as well. I came back to it few days ago and im sure ill give him much deserved love
Well I love the game, but mid game it gets awfully repeatable and late game is almost pay to win. You can farm for materials and stuff but the ultimatum is "Farm 2 years" or "Pay and get the stuff now", witch is...
Way late to the party, but I hadn't thought about this game in a long time. Did you get to see any of the mechanics where you grab the bosses legs with a chain and pull them over, or the counterplay that the tank classes can do? I played the sword and board class and had a blast, but it was very early on when there were only 3 classes.
As someone who has played Vindictus for about 4 years. I would like to say that this game was very good but has been slowly dying over the years. The community is slowly getting smaller, but typical nexon though with their idea of forcing people to take risks at some point involving RNG like enhance/enchant just to become stronger, there's no other way to upgrade afterall. The game also lacks depth, it's very repetitive in many aspects. Furthermore, PvP is not really balanced nor are the classes in terms of dps scaling, you can see at the end of each battle who dealt the most damage, etc. Compared to a few other mmo's, the upgrade system is not as bad. Another problem is that, although this game looks really fun and addicting, it takes either a hermit, wallet warrior, or some lucky guy who probably could've won the lottery instead to truly reach end-game in this game. No matter how hard you grind in this game, you can never reach true end-game without playing around with the RNG in it at some point, which is the scariest part. The combat system is probably thee best of the decade in my opinion, there's alot of clicking and button smashing involved (but it was really fun for me) and if you combine that with the awesome character customization in the game, it's pretty bad-ass. But for a grind game to take that much work and with such low drop rates makes it pretty hard to become strong in the long-run. Some mmo's have automatic attacking but this game really makes you work just to defeat a boss.
But I feel s3 is giving a fresh start to Vindictus, the bosses are awesome it's really fun to play. I do agree that the community is dying off, with the new events for some reason I see little to no new players now days I don't know why...
a year later but, from what i played vindi (for like 2 years back when europe had its special version), the game was fun, but highly repetitive and grindy and with little social aspect to it. the combat? very fun the story? i was thinking was quite good the raids? some of them fun, some of them bullshit (especially those with human size enemies like the army dude with big sword, as its hard to notice their stuff and react appropriately). graphics? amazing at times Probably the most fun time I had in the game was from like the icy mammoth to the red giant raid times and big frog, even the fallen angel/cow. But, that's where the good part ends. The grind in it is huge, it would've been so much easier for players if the top they could get was +5 or +10 on equipment. If enchanting success rates were higher. Afterall, the appeal of the game is the fun of the combat system, not the daily grind. Back when i quitted, a lot of people just logged in, put high requiements in raids, did those raids asap, and then went out, simply because they were 'grinding'. It sucked the fun and joy out of the game, sadly. also nexon's treatment of eu sucked as well, so, i didn't even bother to reclaim my account. The combat and gameplay are again, amazing and it would be great to see other mmos use it, even more so if its open world and not class/gender locked, but that won't happen any time soon.
Not sure if you poke around the comments here still, but the reason the dungeons are copy paste is each area is randomly generated, puzzles together the dungeon from the different rooms, they switch it up later on, but overall yes, it's very copy paste, and it gets old. The quest system stays mostly the same, the devs seem to have gotten better at game development as they've gone on, and have added some voice acting, more cinematics, and some real time npcs that you can talk to instead of just talking to png images, but again, largely the same. The starting instance where you fight the spider is something that gets revisited again, and there's huge, 32 man raids that are really intense, sort of a mashup of god of war and monster hunter. DevCat seems to have kept their farmy little missions that you experience at the start of the game to a minimum, and most of the late game content is huge boss battles, which is good because the game is still fairly populated and it's not hard to find some pals to play with. The combat is fun. Really fun. Each character is totally different (other than vella and lann which are basically male/female versions of eachother if you use swords) and that makes boss fights even more fun. Overall, it's a fun game if you like hack and slash, and real time combat, the story is alright, but it's real easy to get burnt out on because of the repetitiveness. I've put probably 2000 hours into the game and I don't regret it, but I can't play for long periods of time.
dude vindictus cant be reviewed at lvl 20, u must be at least lvl 60 to even coment on it, its a epic game full of raids this is a game where u can play all day without being bored. this is not black desert that u can get the idea at lvl 5 cuz it will be always thwe same
It's not really a review. It's a first impression, says so in the title. Other than that though, I feel like I should give the game justice and play it for myself.
This is why Vindictus is not popular. Most people don't make it through the early levels because they get bored of the copy and paste dungeons and never reach level 60. This isn't really a review anyways, it's a first impression, and many new players will have this same first impression. It's a shame a great game concept is ruined by the early leveling.
Unfortunately they did this in a completely illogical way that only made it far worse. Now, instead of having challenges available to keep you interested early game, you have nothing... I really wanted to come back to this game and introduce some people to it because it was amazingly rewarding years back but I can't play it anymore. Without access to hero mode (or even hard!) there is just no reason to play. Boggles my mind how Nexon could be so stupid.
Omg this has to be you best and most comical vid I've had the pleasure of watching. I used to play this as well. I had the same reaction bro the raid as you did. Now if you can't finish a raid you can call for help from a friend or anyone in server or at least you could a few years ago when I last played.
Vindictus is one of those games I've found that just rapidly grows repetitive but yet somehow not stale. Playing the game on and off since 2010 (not including like a year or two since I lost my account info until I wanted to get back to Mabinogi lel) it was something I was able to spam out long enough to get to level 38-40 and get my transformation out there but then sort of dropped, that was on an Evie who I got to lvl60 and now play scythe evie to have more fun though i've switched over to Arisha whose spellsword mechanics is pretty satisfying and the change in between enchanted and non-enchated as well as the spell-drain block mechanic and the parry mechanic makes it a lot more satisfying and challening to play especially when you're so squishy. Kai is also kind of fun in this sense because of his cinematic spells but also the switch with longbow-shortbow depending on what you need to do--though that changes in a party where you just sit in the back compared to solo. tl;dr Vindictus is one of those games thats really fun for the first few days maybe if you're more casual but then sort of becomes something you come back to way down the road, especially if you're not an MMO gamer but it does its job of a few hours of entertainment well--especially if you're a fucking pervert.
+Bohunk Funk Oh yeah, the higher level raids and dungeons feel a lot more explorative, and honestly? The raids are super fun in the way they incorporate the environment personally. But again, I couldn't grind from 1-60 in one go and get it done in a week, just too much effort.
Nice editing skills. But man, you could at least try and cut the game some slack. It's obvious the difficulty is low in the start, and gets gradually better. You barely played enough to judge the game. It's obvious those hoarfrost bosses are similar, they're brothers. You're a WoW player, but you just ignored the story? You know that people who do that in WoW quit it in like 5 minutes, right? And as for it being instanced - there's no helping it. Such a combat system is still way too fluid to be on an MMO. BDO tries to adopt it but still fails, although it IS fast paced. If you ever find a game that has epic raids, awesome combat and a difficulty that keeps rising as you progress through the game(and in a 2010 game, that is), tell me. That game will be exceptional.
I currently have 5 lvl 60 characters on this game, and i just can't get enough. If you really get into it, the combat expand much much further, than just clicks from the mouse and such, and you can pull off extremely awesome moves. There's many more things to explore, when you reach the end game dungeons, it gets more beautiful, it gets more epic, and there's raids too, with giant ass monsters, and it's a bliss to see helluva lot of guys running around, hacking and slashing on the monster, with many different moves.
def not worth playing.... -GL making gold at 90...with the HORRENDOUS RNG In raids....I got my first ES after 4-5months of doing S2 raids :D -Classes are imbalanced af Vella and lann are practically the same but one is female and one is male and yet Lann blows vella out of the water 100% to 0 in terms of DPS but shes getting a rework so thats okay -Lets not talk about the enchanting....you spend like 400mil crafting a orange weapon and its 40% success rate to put an amazing Scroll on it and if it fails it blows up....but they give you the option in the store for like $8 to protect it...fail.... -also getting a weapon to +10 is super expensive you might as well use ur real money to do that its like 400k a pop to enhance it plus it resets after 5 or so so be ready to spend mad money -servers are okay but the game is poorly optimized so dosent matter if you have two GTX 970's you're gonna feel lag sometimes Honestly the biggest problem is NA vindictus is a shit hole so noone really cares and the updates are slow as shit NX items ar eoverpriced zzzzzzzzzzzzzz GL if you wanna play it the only bright side is the combat system, I hope you have a job or some money saved aside for this game :D its pay to win to get good weapons, RIP those with no NX and no job. They either bot gold or buy it or have extreme luck if you can get past the stupid horrendous RNG and terrible Enchanting system jump in and waste time :D TL;DR -enhancting sucks major cock, GOOD FUCKING LUCK GOD BLESS YOUR SOULS, needs a rework or something -Poorly optimized game -RNG is really bad, Like really awful i havent seen it this bad in a game ??graphics are okay -over here in NA, Na vindictus is really bad, the updates roll out slow and NX items are stupidly priced - alot of pay to win with weapons and enhancing -100% runes? wtf is that thats not fair -a lot of events are buy X amount of this and get this costume and black friday events with "buy X and buy this -events are really cash grab lately, I wouldnt mind this if they had a good support team and good dev team like league of legends or blizzard to back the community but NA vindictus does not.. +++combat syste is amazing source me played 4 years :D you dont have to believe me ofc people will disagree but you'll understand once you're 90 and you'll see honestly if you have questions pm me :P the combat is good but i mean thats about it...play with friends it gets boring fast... also play on east vindictus aus is dead europe is w/e NA is active on east west is like meh
+Jordan marie Pretty much this. I really didnt have a problem with most of the things he did not like. Heck....I prefer instanced dungeons, but hey. to each their own. What you mention here though is what finally drove me over the edge. I was willing to spend money. Dont mind that. What broke me was when I used 7 runes trying to put on a scroll. Lol. Never had a game make me that irate. Problem I'm having is finding another game with combat like this. Everything else I have tried which are supposed to be "action" based feels just horrid in comparison. Oh well. Something will come along eventually that catches my eye.
+Jordan marie Making gold in this game is a coin toss. You can ether hope to get lucky in S2 and treasures or juts farm up crafting materials and have a steady income. It all depends on how you do it but it does come down to rng at the end. No Vella and Lann aren't the same. The both share the same weapon but how they deal optimal damage is handled differently. Lann relies on getting crits and vella focused around counter attacks. The NX items for enhancing and enchanting are basically insurance for your weapon not blowing up. If the increased the success chance then this game would slip into a much more P2W aspect. Sure your explosive enchant failed but on the plus side you still have a weapon. I don't know what kind of weapon you are using that cost 400k per enhancement but this isn't the case. You can go broke really fast and the system isn't all that great since it's luck based. You don't need to spend any money on this game at all to be as good as the people who do. Their aren't really any items that are pay to win exept for the outfits that increase att damage. Runes only keep your weapon from exploding but they don't increase you chances. A free playing would ether; A, save up gold to buy a +8 or higher or B, have a spare weapon and enhance that.
+Bladnaster Naster ~~ me too, its been years and i still havent found a game that matched vindictus's combat, i hear black desert is quite similar and it looks 100x better, obviously the beta is out but im waiting for the full release
Great vid once again. You left out the most hilarious part of the game though. Basically it's when the game does that flowery role call of all the players on the ship; however any time that I played I incited a rampage. Something about the sound of wanton destruction, while this heroic music is playing power bombs my funny bone.
Funny how you made this video right around the time I stopped taking this game seriously. You hit the nail on the head. Vindictus subsists pretty much entirely on its combat, which gets far more interesting once you're fighting end-game raid bosses. But even that can only last so long - I got burned out for good after soloing Lord Glas Ghaibhleann. I was just in denial about it until the 5th anniversary event. >_>
Given both a great combat system, and nice aesthetics, this game surpasses most the mmos I've tried. The interface helps to make it feel less clustered. Mobs don't have health bars. All debuffs you inflict are under your hp bar, not the boss's, if the boss even gets one. To me, that adds to the aesthetics. It makes the combat feel more serious, and not like some joke. Recycled instances do plague Season 1, but the sequels kinda just put all the bosses from their respective instances in one dungeon. But the story this MMO has is still ongoing. Most stories and quests in mmos just seem like busy work, with no real purpose behind quests aside from 'because the NPC said to do it". Vindictus isn't free of that, but it definitely isn't ruled by it. I've only been playing a year or so, but from what I can tell, a lot of the issues players have had have been fixed. For example. Evie can now move while channeling, and her Mana Amber doesn't send her flying across the map upon taking heavy hits. Some say this game is dead. As for me, it's only just begun.
I haven't played Vindictus, but from what I've seen, it's combat system is why it's played as much as it is, and why I would play it. I'm not a big fan of MMO's where you point your mouse at an enemy, sit there and press 1-9 on the number pad (or whatever hotkey they are assigned to) to do your skills. Those feel like turned-based RPG's and I only play a select few of those. Games like Vindictus, Dragonnest, Rusty Hearts, and Blade and Soul is where my cup of tea is at.
Yeah, I think the "Pros" would outweigh the "Cons" for this game. Although I do agree that games that are heavily instance-based is better played with others, but I'm fine playing solo.
I played as a Fiona in this game for 3 years...after lvl 60, raids are where it's at! Me and my wife both played this together(She was an Evie). Fun, addictive hack n' slash!
With the character customization, I think you missed the body editing as there's more customization then what you showed but liked the review :) I, personally, love this game and have had it for a few years
You should start making videos of some MMOs that you play on the side other than WoW (: Id love to see some of you max level characters on other games or even just your leveling process
imo, vindictus is one of those games where it really starts later on, compared to the late game, the early game is so easy I could sleepwalk through it, but later on you get to bosses that will take 20 minutes+ of constant intense dodging in order to not get one or two shotted depending on how good your equipment is. Overall, not a game for everyone, it is the most grindy game I ever played, but the combat has stuck with me as the best in the genre by far especially the unique play styles for each different character. If you decide to play vindictus, get to level 56, that's when you unlock all your skills, the game play really opens up around level 30 since that's when most characters get their advanced dodges or core skills to future game play.
+Alisson Possa I finished it today but I'm gonna release it later in the week so it doesn't get buried by every other wow UA-camr doing the same thing :')
tl;dr this is a first impression video and doesn't actually say much about Vindictus past the first few levels; read on for further information. I'm so grateful for so many of the comments on this video. I'll reiterate some things and give my view. The first and foremost thing I'd like to say before mentioning it later, is that the very idea that Vindictus has copy-paste bosses is a very harsh and misleading thing to be said when you hardly made it into the mid-section of Season 1. Yes, there are multiple similar bosses in the three starting areas, but after that, the bosses really unfold. I don't discount Vindictus for character creation. Each character has a backstory, and it doesn't bother me whether or not I'm playing as a male or female. At endgame, everyone looks different enough anyway with the options given. I main Vella, the character you were using. I don't think you saw half of her potential even after getting that far. It almost looks like you didn't bring up the skill window at all. Characters do have "active" skills that can be bound to the hotbar and each character has something super unique about them. I didn't see you cross cut even once, which is Vella's main counter move. My perspective on instances: Endgame of many other "open world" games usually has you sitting around in a town anyway, going into dungeons at your leisure. As many have said, the story is quite good. It's cumbersome to get through but it ties in really well to other parts and the world is built very wells. Repetitive dungeons: It gets better. I personally think that it's outstanding you get any variance at all dungeon-to-dungeon since you could be playing any other game's instances and literally doing the EXACT same dungeon over and over again for levels or story. The early dungeons are meant to be easy and repetitive, which doesn't necessarily help but your characters are very limited until 60, which is about the time you have access to all your skills. Really, the game shines after Season 1. I say that, though the overall game changed significantly last year to make Seasons 1 and 2 very easy. Season 3, which is the current season of the game (basically major story arc) is where the difficulty lies. The bosses through S2 are still very fun to fight. The downsides: Since I don't find much of what you said to be downsides, I'll give some more things that most people would actually find as downsides. Vindictus DOES suffer performance issues. Being on the original Source engine, Vindictus has its share of problems with frame dips being a concern for a lot of people. Another downside is that all instances are peer-to-peer. Meaning the party leader better have a good Internet connection, or the party will suffer. If you have a good Internet connection, you can host without a problem, and it alleviates some of that. Vindictus has a strong pay-to-convenience model that has gotten stronger and weaker since the update I mentioned earlier. So yeah, whales will pretty much be the highest damage dealers. But the game is pretty strictly PVE with very little PvP. Furthermore, it's not super difficult to make money, and the whales will have made high-level gear available to the standard player, for just a bit of grinding for each piece (if you don't want to enhance yourself). The game shows you how much damage YOU did as well as the #1 person in percentage form. If you try to compare yourself to the whales, you won't feel very good about your dps. However, while they have this in place, there are also easy ways to get decently geared for little-to-no NX input before trying to grind money.
Now I'm curious. I use a little program called turbo mouse, which is an auto clicker that is activated by pressing ctrl, and turned off by pressing alt. Since it's click to fight, I wonder if turbo mouse would make you into a hyper slashing machine? Might be fun to check out real quick if you're ever bored for a minute.
Thing's that you should keep in mind: (I'm currently 80% through the game Vindictus) -The plot is actually good. Not sure why no one cares for it. Ever heard of a visual novel or maybe a book? Don't let the PNG. pictures fool you into thinking it's a complete waste of time. -The early is easy; you can put it on hard and it's still easy. It gets much harder in the late game. -I found the the character customization to be decent. 7/10 It could be worst. -Severs are not greatest. Make sure you play on the east severs if you're in the east US.Do the same for the west. It should help a great deal.
Just so you know~ +TheLazyPeon MOST of the classes actually get TWO weapon options. The staff user gets a Scythe that is fucking hella. Scythe Evie is one of the top DPSing classes and Staff is dope too. If you ever like magic users deff give either a try!!
I think Vindictus is one of the better mmo's though because it's so much easier to get good gear without spending real money ;0 Although, i'm not entirely sure if thats still the case NOW.
thx 4 ur thoughts on vindictus which I share. I hear that the game changes after u reach certain lvls & move n2 the 2nd season. Please play throught 2 lvl 60 & tell us what u think.
Speaking as a veteran player that has played this game for almost 5 years now, I feel that the heart of Vindictus is in the raids, particularly the level 60 ones and up. The story is actually really good but the telling of it is atrocious. The voice acting throughout the game is horrible, and the long arbitrary dialogue is boring, but the overall plot is amazing imo. A lot of the pivotal moments in the story actually got me all feelsy.
Someone needs to make an open world MMO with the same combat system as Vindictus. I don't think I've played another MMO with a smoother combat system.
Ashes of Creation
Project Awakening
None of those two are even released tho
They aren't?
Black desert online?
Never mind, Ignore my comment about only being able to play it in the US and Aus, turns out I downloaded the wrong fucking version >.>
+TheLazyPeon silly peon xD
Lol
+TheLazyPeon Wow I've played that game like a month ago, and I stopped it exactly because of the cons you listed ^^
+TheLazyPeon FailFish
+TheLazyPeon do maplestory or mabingoi next
I actually find this game to be a hell lot of fun, I don't care if it's repetitive, it's just so badass and awesome.
+Rhinovex Does black desert online count as an open world version of Vindictus?
No idea, never played it, although from what I've seen/heard it seems it's not has heavily focused on PvE as Vindictus is.Lawlophile
Well, if you're as hyped for an open-world vindictus-esque game as you say you are, I have one 7 day guest pass you can use to give it a shot. Lmk if you want it and I'll pm it to you, else I'll be saving it for someone who wants to try it.
Lawlophile
I appreciate the offer, but I am currently on the Overwatch hype train a mere 4 minutes away from taking off, and I plan to play the game non-stop.
*claps claps* :)
hahah im vella, what is dodge LOL and yes it requires you to pay.
Chainblade Vella must dodge. Even sword Vella must dodge sometimes, and in the common terminology that the veteran playerbase uses for the game, your crosscut mechanic is your dodge mechanic. You only have to pay if you suck at the game.
Well, this game is more Tank with no dps. Tanky dps. Normal dps. Super glass cannon dps actually.
Cody Sewell are you sure about this? ...how much time you playing vindictus
I didn't know you watched Peons channel lol
+cody tyler exactly, i'd say at least get past lvl 35 and the Blood Prince before passing judgement.
2 much work and time .-. AND money.
ℜ✦νєℕ
*A good mmorpg/fps/moba game that's free.
The game definitely has some obvious flaws, but I personally think it's an overall good game.
he's a newb (noob) :-j
yea the combat gets better and harder ,depending on class.
Best END and you're right my friend
Dreznin Ive played for awhile and i agree with comment ive recently reached to season 3 which is hard as fuck but its really fun and looks pretty good.
if you're ever interested in learning more about the story, i'm pretty sure that this is a prequel to mabinogi, which up to gen12 has a really interesting plotline.
too bad nexon drove that shit to the ground lmao
OMG PERFECT TIMING! I just got myself some evening food and i notice a new video from LazyPeon! Food always tastes better when you have something enjoyable to watch :3
+TheDeathCrafter haha I always have to watch something with food too :)
Is Runes of Magic still around? I remember trying that game out when I got bored with WoW and a lot of people claimed it was supposed to be a WoW clone. You could try that game out, but I don't know if anyone even plays it anymore.
+PixelCatGamer ITs still alive but with very low population and i dont think peon would enjoy it because of how dated it is and the graphics show how old it is now
PhasedBased _q3a_df Ya I couldn't get into it either when I tried it out years ago.
+PixelCatGamer pixel!!!!!and the only thing i loved about RoM zas the guildhousing and how you needed to gather mats for it
Ansilo's adventures If you like guild housing and having to get mats for it Warframe (if you look shooters) has exactly that with clan houses (dojo)
Runescape guy
hey, ive been playing this game since beta. we need to start the movement for a new open world mmo with this gameplay. all these new mmos suck. whos with me! (and vindictus amazing gameplay, the rest of the game is outdated)
You mean combat, most of its gameplay loop outside combat is plain hideous.
@@miguelcondadoolivar5149 yes combat
Could you please take another look at Vindictus now? I would love to hear/see what you think of it now, you must admit the combat is awesome :p . apparently there is new stuff coming on the 11th of December.
Few things from veteran player. There will be soon UI update in Europe and NA. About dungeons. Yes, they are boring copy-paste. Game starts at 60-70 lvl when you can go daily raids, they are tough ones when you start playing Vindictus. And actually its sequel of Mabinogi, korea name is Mabinogi Heroes. Vindictus takes place in past. It makes sense when you know story :P
yes this game really needs ui update i can't see any amount of stuff I have its so small and chat window is so confusing.
its not a sequel of mabinogi its a prequel
hovsep56 Its sequel - next game of series, but story is in past. Vindictus was released later.
Hato1992 i know that mabinogi is released earlier than vindictus i played a crapton of mabinogi also one of the people who got happy when mabinogi 2 got cancelled cause it was just another vindictus game and not mabinogi
hovsep56 I didnt know they wanted to make mabinogi 2, but this probably was changed to heroes, thats all.
Played this for a year, and I can say it has one of the best stories i've seen in a long time.
Peon you're becoming the only youtuber I watch and really enjoy lately. Stay awesome!
+Meow Aww thanks man :)
I haven't played Vindictus in about 2 years but I remember it having the best combat mechanics of any mmo I've ever played.
dang 2 years, im currently playing it waiting for lvl 95 to come out... so ya... just getting shards and Comp mats to beef up my Vella. :P
vindictus is good IF YOU HAVE FRIENDS TO PLAY WITH (i need friends T_T)
+Jesse Lehtinen I would be your friend but, you like anime. So....
+Jesse Lehtinen I love anime, and this game. I play on the west server, add Syphera :] (i have other characters but that's the one I main :])
+toot1231 when did i say i like anime
Jesse Lehtinen Your avatar kinda gives it away.
***** no one should ever judge someone by their avatar or looks
I was wondering, since it will be in closed beta again on November 13, that you will do a first impression on Blade & Soul when it will be released Free 2 Play in February?
+Tiear Rose I'm gonna cover end game stuff for blade and soul in a few weeks, I can't do a genuine first impression for the western release though as I played the "Play B&S" server in a first impression not realizing it was a out of date
+TheLazyPeon i mean you could do it like how you did the second gw2 video
+TheLazyPeon You can get into the Western beta easy enough. Keys are being given away on many fan sites. Thanksgiving week beta goes on for a week. You really need to remake the 1st one you did to right a wrong. Your video comes up first in all the searches for Blade and Soul first impression. Since your impression was off of a game that was a several year old beta version please redo it to rectify the mistake. Thank you
Is this game set in an open world?
You have no idea how happy i am to see this video pop up, 17 min video, work in 30, FUCK YA!
+TheRAZONER Well that's good timing :D
I absolutly love your first impression Videos! keep up the good work peon
8:47 actually in reality when you visit the same place, it tends to fucking look the same.
Whooo! Thanks Peon for another great video! You always entertain me and it's great to watch when I'm bored on the bus ride home. Keep at the great content
I stopped playing vindictus an year or two ago but not because it was bad but the community died a bit and nexon really screwed up ( per usual), i enjoy watching yoour vids but vindictus is an dungeon crawler so obviously there won't be an open world to explore and i totally understand that you don't like the way they presented qeusts but i personally loved it and if you take the time to actually read the story those dungeons get alot more bearable.(Since u will know why ur in the dungeon in the first place)
Like alot of games vindictus is all about the endgame. raids in this game are really challenging and fun to play and one more thing vindictus has prob the best story in all the games i've played in my life so far which are quite a few.
+The Potato That's awesome dude! that's what this series is about, getting people to try other games :)
TheLazyPeon woah. didnt think you were gonna reply, haha. love the videos btw.
+The Potato Same here, I downloaded Wildstar after watching his video, now I'm hooked. I'm so glad I found something that looks like it could take the place in the whole in my heart that WoW left when I could no longer afford to play it. Vindictus is still an MMO that I play regularly for 4 years now.
asking for a vindictus 2 is like asking for a skyrim 2
Asking for vindictus 2 is like asking for Half Life 3
+Alp Ertan did u even read my comment?
+Alp Ertan it's not impossible to have a game called skyrim 2. improbable and probably not the best idea, but not impossible. all they'd have to do is name it that.
***** I was joking to begin with, but technically you can name a game whatever you want regardless of whether it's in a series or not. I could go make a game right now and call it "Banana Hammer 5" if I wanted to, without making a 1-4. If Bethesda chose to drop the Elder Scrolls name for a game and call a it Skyrim 2, they could.
Vindictus is actually a prequel of a MMO called Mabinogi. They follow the same timeline and go together though the gameplays are different
Nice review, you've hit on all the points spot on for the first impression in the early games and for shadowed the end game a bit.
''Copy and paste zone'' Man if you read the story maybe you understand that it's still the same place...
MANNN you're god damn right lol, that comment came out of someone who doesn't even read the story. It's better if he play games with more open mind to do the pros n cons. An "open world" doesn't always make a good game, and an "instance world" doesn't mean its a bad game.
Yup
I miss this game, thanks for reminding me of it. I played the Beta, and played for about a year straight.
Set in a world where you don't really care enough to pay attention to... Dude you skipped half the dialogue.
i know its an old video, but guild wars 2 did something similar with it's opening sequences, except it's unique for all of the different races.
you basically start off in a battle/warzone and it ends with a boss fight. super cool concept to get you hyped
Could you do a lets play series of elder scrolls online?
+PoDaPowder this idea sounds really fun actually, would love to see him do some ESO videos similar to the iron man challenge series!
just re read your comment, he's done a first impressions on eso, but a let's play of another mmo I'd watch
You hit the nail on the head with your review of Vindictus, good job.
Will you be doing an update for Skyforge? I noticed your last review was a bit early in open beta.
+OneMiddle Finger Not much have changed in that game, it's just grind all day everyday :) The Same Missions over and over
Could you do a World of warcraft first impressions as a joke
That's going to come in about 4 months XD
Vindictus is fun, when you have people to do some of the dungeons with. I've been playing this game on the US servers since they first released the dragon raids (When they were ridiculously hard and you had to work as a team to kill them)(Took like 2 hours to kill one). Even though the game is primarily instanced based, the story, if you invest in it, is real entertaining to follow. Some characters die because you couldn't rescue them, while others can die because you kill them. When you start to unlock even more of your characters moves, the combat just keeps getting better. All in all, it's a good game when you start and maintains itself by playing with other people on higher lvls.
unfortunatly you didnt show the Dark Knight and the Paladin which would be nice to show
Vindictus have the Best combat system in whole mmorpg genre.
Was looking for this like years.... thank you very much!
Can you try out Lord of the Rings Online? its got alot of content, i played it for 4 years
ur mom
You certainly won't see any new players now that they removed difficulty from the early game. Literally nothing to hold peoples' interest anymore :/
a year later but, from what i played vindi (for like 2 years back when europe had its special version),
the game was fun, but highly repetitive and grindy and with little social aspect to it.
the combat? very fun
the story? i was thinking was quite good
the raids? some of them fun, some of them bullshit (especially those with human size enemies like the army dude with big sword, as its hard to notice their stuff and react appropriately).
graphics? amazing at times
Probably the most fun time I had in the game was from like the icy mammoth to the red giant raid times and big frog, even the fallen angel/cow.
Played this game a while ago. And stayed only for the combat. Everything else is piss poor
Same I Got to like level 60 idk how the questing was so fucking boring
+PatsNation
because you werent reading the dialogue
dude vindictus cant be reviewed at lvl 20, u must be at least lvl 60 to even coment on it, its a epic game full of raids this is a game where u can play all day without being bored. this is not black desert that u can get the idea at lvl 5 cuz it will be always thwe same
thats why the gaming system before reaching lv60 needs to improve.
PvP is dead in this game, because it was forced into the game and is completely imbalanced, Peon.
Omg this has to be you best and most comical vid I've had the pleasure of watching.
I used to play this as well. I had the same reaction bro the raid as you did. Now if you can't finish a raid you can call for help from a friend or anyone in server or at least you could a few years ago when I last played.
A Day to Remember! >:D
I completely agree lol
i went from 1-50 in 3 days what are you talking about
Nice editing skills.
There's many more things to explore, when you reach the end game dungeons, it gets more beautiful, it gets more epic, and there's raids too, with giant ass monsters, and it's a bliss to see helluva lot of guys running around, hacking and slashing on the monster, with many different moves.
def not worth playing....
-GL making gold at 90...with the HORRENDOUS RNG In raids....I got my first ES after 4-5months of doing S2 raids :D
-Classes are imbalanced af Vella and lann are practically the same but one is female and one is male and yet Lann blows vella out of the water 100% to 0 in terms of DPS but shes getting a rework so thats okay
-Lets not talk about the enchanting....you spend like 400mil crafting a orange weapon and its 40% success rate to put an amazing Scroll on it and if it fails it blows up....but they give you the option in the store for like $8 to protect it...fail....
-also getting a weapon to +10 is super expensive you might as well use ur real money to do that its like 400k a pop to enhance it plus it resets after 5 or so so be ready to spend mad money
-servers are okay but the game is poorly optimized so dosent matter if you have two GTX 970's you're gonna feel lag sometimes
Honestly the biggest problem is NA vindictus is a shit hole so noone really cares and the updates are slow as shit NX items ar eoverpriced zzzzzzzzzzzzzz GL if you wanna play it the only bright side is the combat system, I hope you have a job or some money saved aside for this game :D its pay to win to get good weapons, RIP those with no NX and no job. They either bot gold or buy it or have extreme luck
if you can get past the stupid horrendous RNG and terrible Enchanting system jump in and waste time :D
TL;DR
-enhancting sucks major cock, GOOD FUCKING LUCK GOD BLESS YOUR SOULS, needs a rework or something
-Poorly optimized game
-RNG is really bad, Like really awful i havent seen it this bad in a game
??graphics are okay
-over here in NA, Na vindictus is really bad, the updates roll out slow and NX items are stupidly priced
- alot of pay to win with weapons and enhancing
-100% runes? wtf is that thats not fair
-a lot of events are buy X amount of this and get this costume and black friday events with "buy X and buy this
-events are really cash grab lately, I wouldnt mind this if they had a good support team and good dev team like league of legends or blizzard to back the community but NA vindictus does not..
+++combat syste is amazing
source me played 4 years :D
you dont have to believe me ofc people will disagree but you'll understand once you're 90 and you'll see
honestly if you have questions pm me :P the combat is good but i mean thats about it...play with friends it gets boring fast...
also play on east vindictus aus is dead europe is w/e NA is active on east west is like meh
The company Nexon who made this game favors the Koreans over us
have you tried lvl 20 , the big raid boss drakes?
This game has decent combat.. but it'll give you carpal tunnel like no other game.
osu?
Try the original gunz or watch pros playing starcraft 2.
Great vid once again. You left out the most hilarious part of the game though. Basically it's when the game does that flowery role call of all the players on the ship; however any time that I played I incited a rampage. Something about the sound of wanton destruction, while this heroic music is playing power bombs my funny bone.
Vindictus has story better than most AAA titles.
How did you switched the server again?
It's an RPG and you don't want to read stuff... STOP PLAYING RPGs!!! You people are fucking up MMORPGs with your lazyness!
Thankyou
So did you miss the sliders or just did not like them?
Love your videos, keep up the good work mate.
honestly I go to you if I'm interested in a new game. you do a great job and are interesting and fun to watch. thanks man!
Peon you can play outside the US i played it...on the EU server?
Funny how you made this video right around the time I stopped taking this game seriously.
You hit the nail on the head. Vindictus subsists pretty much entirely on its combat, which gets far more interesting once you're fighting end-game raid bosses. But even that can only last so long - I got burned out for good after soloing Lord Glas Ghaibhleann. I was just in denial about it until the 5th anniversary event. >_>
Can i ask I can't install The Vindictus Game i want to play cuz my Region is not available From Philippines
I loved this game! Played it like crazy! It is redundant at first, but when u start leveling up it gets good! Keep playing!!!
Although I do agree that games that are heavily instance-based is better played with others, but I'm fine playing solo.
is it still worth playing or are the servers dead, is it p2w or something other bad bout that game? thank you!
I played as a Fiona in this game for 3 years...after lvl 60, raids are where it's at! Me and my wife both played this together(She was an Evie). Fun, addictive hack n' slash!
Vindictus is really focused around the end game. There are raids that have more than one boss. It's pretty fun.
With the character customization, I think you missed the body editing as there's more customization then what you showed but liked the review :) I, personally, love this game and have had it for a few years
I could not stop shivering when I watch Peon fights the BIG NOPE in the Prologue.. dang...
You should start making videos of some MMOs that you play on the side other than WoW (: Id love to see some of you max level characters on other games or even just your leveling process
Since you have a VPN. Will you try Dragons Dogma Online?
imo, vindictus is one of those games where it really starts later on, compared to the late game, the early game is so easy I could sleepwalk through it, but later on you get to bosses that will take 20 minutes+ of constant intense dodging in order to not get one or two shotted depending on how good your equipment is.
Overall, not a game for everyone, it is the most grindy game I ever played, but the combat has stuck with me as the best in the genre by far especially the unique play styles for each different character. If you decide to play vindictus, get to level 56, that's when you unlock all your skills, the game play really opens up around level 30 since that's when most characters get their advanced dodges or core skills to future game play.
so wait i can play it outside us and eu? in the pros and cons u said u downloaded the wrong version
can you solo the raid bosses if you are called Kirito?
Hey Peon! When are you going to do a video with thoughts of the news from Legion?
Waiting for it!
Is it an open world?
lazypeon's fear of spiders is always fucking hilarious
Now I'm curious. I use a little program called turbo mouse, which is an auto clicker that is activated by pressing ctrl, and turned off by pressing alt. Since it's click to fight, I wonder if turbo mouse would make you into a hyper slashing machine? Might be fun to check out real quick if you're ever bored for a minute.
Peon, can you pls send the items from your mage transmog??
Are there any games similar to Vinductus but with open world?
might have to check this one out. thanks for the review, I've never even heard of it ^.^
"This is how MMOs should start their game!"
From Software: "Lol, been there done that." *Makes Darksouls 3*
Just curious, any crafting in this.
"Fucking hell look at that beast!" 1:04 into the video! I couldn't stop laughing! I'm subbing just for that! Well done man, Well Done.
Mr.Peon, could you possibly do first impressions of music? I'd so suggest Belle Manoir as your first one. =)
Thing's that you should keep in mind: (I'm currently 80% through the game Vindictus)
-The plot is actually good.
I would like to see a video ranking all the MMOs you've played at some point.
Just so you know~ +TheLazyPeon MOST of the classes actually get TWO weapon options. The staff user gets a Scythe that is fucking hella. Scythe Evie is one of the top DPSing classes and Staff is dope too. If you ever like magic users deff give either a try!!
Is it available in SEA server?
That feeling of getting rekt by gnoll chieftain at red ruins as a new player is nostalgic af. 😲
Can you play again now (2018) and make a video about the differences?
I think Vindictus is one of the better mmo's though because it's so much easier to get good gear without spending real money ;0 Although, i'm not entirely sure if thats still the case NOW.
thx 4 ur thoughts on vindictus which I share. I hear that the game changes after u reach certain lvls & move n2 the 2nd season. Please play throught 2 lvl 60 & tell us what u think.
falling log trap used to one shot you. Ah the good ol days...
I truly love how this game runs on my potato of a pc, love the combat mechanics so damn much.
Does anyone knows if this game is still IP blocked to US territories?
