It's fair to say that every vocalist uses their voice as an instrument, but the way Amy so intricately weaves her voice in and out of the rest of the band like a violin makes for such powerful, moving music. The Evanescence rabbit hole isn't a bad one to fall down.

So there's actually two versions to this song. This one has the guitar crescendo, but there's also a version with just piano. I really like that one too.

This song is almost 20 years old now and came out when I was in my early 20's. It's a song that defiantly hits harder today. Back then, to me it was just a great song by an awesome singer, now it's a very powerful emotional song. I can now relate to the lyrics, but not just towards a specific loss or relationship with someone, but towards my memories, my moments, and my mind. The older we get, the more the memories hurt, not just the sad and/or bad ones, like losing a loved ones, as I have lost both my parents over the last twelve years, but the good ones as well, like having a wonderful childhood, first getting marriage, your children's births and them being young, these memories of life, moments of time, will never be as great as it once was, as certain moments that will never be experienced again like they were when we lived them. My memories, both happy and sad, are slowly killing me as I can't let go and depend on them so much.
My daughter loved this song and I cannot hear it without thinking of her. RIP Kayla

Amy has the absolute best voice period. Theres not a song that she performs that you dont feel deep down. Pure perfection. Shes just as good live. Second best female vocalist in my opinion is Kirstin Maldonado from Pentatonix. Thanks and stay safe.
In my opinion the best female singer is Floor Jansen of Nightwish, but Amy Lee will always be one of the greats to me, her voice has so much soul.
@@shadweller Yeah, Floor is technically better, but Amy wins the emotional singing contest. Probably helps that most of her songs about about loss, relationships, mental heath and other emotional issues.

The misconception is that she is mourning someone who has passed when it is she who has committed suicide. Note the wrist wraps. Note that no one around her notices her. This is a very emotional song that makes me cry each time I watch it.

At first Evanescence album fallen is one of the most amazing records I've ever heard in my life. I never heard anything like that before. From Amy Lee's lyrics and Ben Moody's music. And Amy Lee's amazing vocals. They touched your heart and your soul. Now here's the sad part. Is each album came out they grew worse and worse. There would be one or two decent songs. Her vocals stayed amazing for a while. She still had all the Dynamics to her voice. And the warmth that touched your heart. But now Evanescence is somethingelse it shouldn't even be called Evanescence anymore. All the original members are gone band members. She went off into crazy directions and waited forever to put out another real new album again and now her voice is not anything like it was. Now she just screams and bellows. I know there's lots and lots and lots of fans and they're willing sheep to take anything that she puts out because they love her so much. But nothing she ever will do until she gets back with Ben Moody and starts to sing like she used to and I just get up there and scream and use her political views to do what she wants to further her career is Evanescence ever going to get to be like it used to be and never be as great again

Amy Lee is definitely an angel, but if you want your soul raelly touched, you need to listen to Aurora. I don't think she is completely human - otherworldly is the best I can come up with. Listen to Runaway, Running with the Wolves, The Seed, or I Went Too Far. They are a good place to start, but I gaurantee you won't stop there.

My mother chose her girlfriend over me when I was really young. She got into drugs and her girlfriend turned her against me. My dad used to drink and when he did, he would beat my mother. This song makes me think of her.
