- Today I'm in the Kirkwood neighborhood in east Atlanta to check out Evergreen Butcher & Baker and pick up some sourdough loafs, pastries, and some cuts of meat for the week. This butcher is a special place, one that I'd argue is essential to any neighborhood - a quality butcher and baker. Every Sunday at 1PM, a line down the block starts to file in to pick up one of these coveted burgers that sell out within an hour or so. The dedication to quality in every aspect of this place is evident in the double stack cheeseburgers nestled in long-fermented sesame seed buns. This place is doing it right. The beef is broken down by co-owner Sean, himself. The entire carcass is used. The cow is sourced locally. Even the pickles and aioli in the cheeseburgers are made in-house. Do yourself a favor and check this place out, and if you're lucky/patient enough on a Sunday, experience this highest of quality cheeseburger.
