That is more than a few chefs (most) I could name but I think Uncle Roger has 8.8 million still second/third place is not bad. He does not have TV shows but I do think he has learned from Nigel that humor helps.
One of the most under valued channel if Chef JP as well as Vincenzo's Plate. Making those smash burgers double patties would have potentially been more fair because (as Kendrick implied) the meat to bun ratio does matter.
not only that but 10 seconds later he makes a double patty burger and surprise it takes first place
Agreed, also felt he "fancified" the patty melt to make it win (two types of cheese, in-n-out sauce and onions), where the others got nothing
@@Danope6200 tbh the moment he switched from the methods section to the classics the fairness is already gone, the judges are now rating different variations of burgers instead of methods
@@mynameisjeff484 not to mention pretty much everything after that point that wasn’t specifically not a smash burger was basically a smash burger.
It’s hard to beat the smash burger if you get the meat ratio right. Which again is probably why every burger after it that didn’t specify to do it some way other than a smash burger was pretty much a smash burger.
@@TheNamelessTed idk about that. The burger that made MacDonalds a cultural icon was a single 1/10 lb patty on a bun with toppings. If you were really hungry you'd get three or four.
People are just getting more decadent over time.
What an insane amount of work. Thank you.
I love the concept of the OK smash, great way to easily incorporate onions into your patty!
Frybread, in South Africa we call it Vetkoek, (directly translated, fat cake). It's very popular and served with chicken mayo or savory mince (amongst many other variations). The burger idea is an interesting one, one difference, the Vetkoek is cooked beforehand and ingredients added afterwards.
During my childhood in Australia we were doing it tough and one of my favourite foods (that was very cheap) was "bread and dripping".
Precooked bread fried in fat.
I know it is depression food and I'm not that old ( 65 ) but it still tastes good.
These days the bread is two slices with butter and cheese in between but the frying is still in dripping.
Came to the comments to see if anyone explained that the fry bread was vetkoek 😂
Vetkoek, fat cake, igwinya are the most common name for it in South Africa. It's very easy to make.
Awe bru😂 didn’t think I’d see any fellow South Africans here
There's a food court called Fat Cake City in my area and they make vetkoek burgers.

Right! Let's go bannock.
Okay I was watching this and was wondering if anyone else realized the frybread. Was not expecting it for a burger method but was super happy to see the good rating 🙌
The fry bread is actually also a very traditional and popular dish in South Africa coming from the Afrikaans culture and is called vetkoek here translated directly to fat cake. It is made exactly the same as in the video but is fried without any stuffing just the dough itself

I dont like videos often, but this one deserves all the likes. I want that mega burger.
The perfect video to watch for absolutely no reason on a Friday morning
1. Use the same buns on every burger, and make the testers eat 28 burgers.
2. Watch your testers mark the two burgers that didn't use the same buns the highest - not for the burger, but for the bun.
And not even let them try the final product!
Bro made the weakest looking Juicy Lucy on top of it
Yeah but if you are trying to do a taste test you want to have everything the same so that there are as few variables as possible
I know this is late but I imagine these videos are made over the course of 2 months because I can't imagine making someone eat that many bites of a burger in one day or even in a week. People would get so tired of eating the burger that the taste would become gross not long after.
@@CubanPanda you think they're gonna spread the filming of a burger tasting video over the course of 2 months? that would be logistically insane and expensive compared to getting everything together and cooking all of them in the same day. this wasnt scientific, its entertainment, which has production constraints
Even though it was a simpler version that only used ground beef I was very happy to see a frita cubana on here. I understand that for the challenge it was just hamburgers but fritas usually do have chorizo, pork, and beef. It really depends on what you have at home when you make it

I've never once heard the rule on Jucy Lucies not allowing any other fixings. Not shocked it didn't perform well without some sauce. I also get the feeling that the Smash Burger would have done better if it were a double patty, the texture of a double patty double cheese Smash Burger is extremely hard to beat.
That said, a Smoked Steakhouse Frybread burger... yeah I can understand why that's the holy trinity. I want to try that now.
agreed 100% about the double patty, single patty on a smash burger doesnt seem right to me
It's just plain stupid that the smash burgers weren't double.
Jucy lucy should have had more cheese inside the patty, a slice on top and sauce.
For the juicy Lucy, the reason for poking a hole is to yes let the steam out but as well as taking the first bite of the burger doesn't have that huge buildup of grease burst out at you and possibly burn you.
REST YOUR FUCKING BURGER !!
This was a really interesting comparing. Learnd s lot.thnx

For the patty melt I also recommend trying it on sourdough bread, and for the onions I recommend caramelized onions. In terms of sauce 1000 island or basil pesto are good options
100% agree that is a true patty melt i do mine with swiss
I use rye bread for my patty melts, but otherwise I'm with you on the onions
@@ELPECEE Exactly. Patty melt is rye, period.
A patty melt is rye bread and caramelized onions. This isn't even a debate. It's like saying a Reuben is supposed to be on challah or some nonsense.

20:07 the Luther came from the animated series The Boondocks, if you haven't seen it I highly recommend it!
I really like the specifying of specific kind of meat, bun, etc. As it keeps everything fair and balanced. Then if people would like to use an alternate bun or something like Chorizo patty, they have 30 methods to decide which they want to use. Props to pappa for sticking to the "method" being the key difference and allows all the trends and variations to be applied on their own.
amazing. my journey begins!
You did a good job with those. Only a couple things in 30 I had a suggestion.
Considering he did the Texas toast one with 2 patties I feel as though he should have done 2 patties for all of the smash burgers too because he himself said he does his smash burgers with 2 patties and all of their ratings were consistently lower due to not having enough meat and tasting too much like bread
Also it bugged me that at the end it still says the old tied second place burgers are in second place when now it should be the Luther burger lol like that was ranked second best and just fully got booted off the scoreboard as soon as it wasn’t first best
he prepped the patty melt so much better too lol, lame

The amount of dedication, concentration, patience, effort, and WORK that you put into this video is ELITE.
What? This is less effort than like 90% of the dudes videos. The taste testers have a much harder job here and they sucked at it. What is the absolute worst is that half of the burgers he had no idea how to make them properly and failed at it.

This video was EXTREMELY disappointing - they forgot to judge the megaburger.
Method 30 reminds me of Vetkoek here in South Africa. Take a Vetkoek dough, put a patty in it and then fry. Sounds interesting! We usually fry the dough and then put stuff on it like it was a bun. Most of the time, it's curry mince.
A category for different cuts of meat would’ve been awesome! 🤩
I've been watching your videos since the sourdough starter ones which got me into cooking youtube (haven't made any though ahaha) and I must say, what an amazing journey of growth you've been on, amazing work.
Lovely! The fried bread - we call it vetkoek (fat cake). I prefer to use yeast. You can proof it longer or shorter or proof twice to get different results. I've tried the wrap before fry, but I prefer to add the patty after making the vetkoek. It's nice with savory, but butter, apricot jam and cheddar on a fresh, crispy vetkoek is hard to beat.
That Cuban Frita sounds great. Do a video on that 1 hahaha gonna try it tonight

I grew up with Vetkoek (fry bread) and I am 58. We have made it every way possible. The vetkoek burger, the vetkoek hotdog, you name it. But just fry it plain, fill with filling of choice (chicken mayo, curry mince, whih is the traditional South African thing to fill it with), or with jam or golden syrup. Make small finger food vetkoeks and fill with pastry cream and a drizzle of glazing. With Vetkoek in your repertoire you are never at a loss what to feed people.
I was about to say that's a vetkoek. I agree with you. So many ways to style a vetkoek
I have always called it "bannock" and we all made it with everything, bannock burgers, tacos, corndogs and hotpockets. Bannock or vetkoek is amazing.
I'm not good at cooking and I don't enjoy it but these videos are very entertaining
My family use to use the George Forman grill for everything growing up! Hotdogs, chicken, burgers, grilled cheese.. you name it George did it! 😂
I first time I saw the Luther burger was in the Boondocks animated series. I then found out it was also the origin of the burger. Grandad’s version was far more indulgent and when people ate it they would get a food coma prompting the restaurant to get beds instead of tables.
People worked a lot more than, we have become coddled by tech. It is a lot easier to eat a slightly burger when you do manual labor instead of sit on a chair and type all day. When I get out I do 15000 to 20000 steps a days not 500.
And I'm sure all of your steps are uphill in the rain, too. You aren't worse than cubicle office workers for doing manual labor, but you aren't better than them either.
Your weird elitism aside, having worked construction for a few summers you're absolutely right about being ready to tear through a massive lunch after spending all day hauling things to the dumpster during demo.
Loved it. It was a fantastic journey, start to finish.
I kinda left the channel for the last year because too many sandwich and unhealthy recipes. But I see that you really got some hot new content with the crab fishing, 100 food hacks and all that. What I want to get at is that this type of videos makes it highly entertaining, unmissable and I learn a few stuff.
This is sandwich/unhealthy food content peak!
He should do a “Every type of pizza” in this type of format
We need more videos like this it’s actually entertaining to watch keep up the good work

My George Foreman grill has been the best sandwich/panini press for the last 10-12 years, maybe more. I would never thinking of cooking anything on it - just a double sided, ribbed (for all of our pleasures) toaster press!
Joshua, you are insane. This video includes 31 recipes. That's huge! Incredible good job. You are the best 😎
Sous vide burgers are legit the best burgers I've ever made at home. The real perk is they can be as thick as you want. Super good.
Do you need to serve them as soon as they're out of sous vide or can you refrigerate them and then only sear them before serving?
@@bananeeek8376 I've done them either way, but the better result was to let them temper/refrigerate, Then unpack/dab the surface with a paper towel, then salt/pepper and sear.
Treat it the same as you would sous vide a steak. Ensure correct hygiene practice and never exceed over 2 hours > weight to cook time does vary.
I'm kind of surprised he didn't do internet Shaquille's version where the "grain" is all in one direction
@@bignate2814 if he had there is zero doubt that it would've been the winner. No contest
Agreed!!
All these would make an incredible menu at a burger joint
