One thing that is a pet peeve with me but is normalised nowadays - sitting at a table with someone for dinner but spending most of the time on your phone. My sister did that to me once and when I got tired of it I called her out. She was most upset and stalked off - but I felt like she was being rude to me because she could barely hold a conversation, she was on the phone so much. In my opinion if you are out with people you should be present in the moment, at least for the most part. Everyone checks their socials and takes pics, but people nowadays take it to the extreme of bad manners.

I attended a wedding rehearsal dinner, the time say 6pm tell me why the married couple showed up at 8:45pm, I told my mom if you were not with me I would have gotten into an Uber and left. Fumi I could have been at another dinner hanging with friends I have not seen in a long time. I was soooo made.

  • @chenaichihota9129
    @chenaichihota9129 Рік тому +13

I believe the French epitomize sophistication and find little I can fault them for in as far as etiquette, class, dressing etc.
The rule of thumb is not to eat before going out. One must always eat in a reasonable fashion and as I studied them I learned that as a people that love food and cooking it is important to eat and enjoy the meal in front of you so as not to offend. The way around this is to ensure you exercise SELF CONTROL, leaving something on your plate and not eating until you’re unhappy.
Eat just what you need and slowly, allowing your brain to register that you are in fact full, appreciating the love and effort one has put into the meal.
I also want to point out that too many people don’t actually know what “class” is. Clothing, and materialism does not equal CLASS ladies.
Hands up if, like me, I have met the classiest people in the poorest circumstances even coming out of a hut.
Class is the simple ability to accept others and treat anyone you encounter with the same love and hospitality especially if you are in a social setting.
It’s making anyone you encounter feel good and amazing after being in your company and that is class.
Never get dressed believe you must look classy. It’s not a thing or a dress it’s an ongoing doing word ie a verb that makes you stand out, no matter what you have on.
Put a smile on peoples’ faces all the time and you will exude class and sophistication. No matter what car you drive or what you’re wearing.
Thoroughly enjoying the show. It’s eye opening to misconceptions and fun to watch only do what feels good to you and make everyone around you feel the same.
In as far as your plate, always leave a morsel and happily eat to your satisfaction each course and that makes the host and everyone feel appreciated🙃😊. They also drink a lot of wine and in following what Aunty Fumi is saying, getting drunk is not recommended but pacing is as drinks will flow so it’s all about SELF DISCIPLINE. Well done ladies for looking for exactly what makes you comfortable in your own skin. People smell pretension from a mile away.💕

Having a meal before going out for a dinner or any other event, helps one handle hunger better and it doesn't stop you from enjoying whatever you will be served at such dinner . Like she rightly pointed out, it just makes 'Self Control" easier to observe.

I will only wait max' 15 minutes after that I leave! My time is precious. Do not take my consideration and kindness to make a fool out of me. Raise your voice at me and you'll see the back of my head because it's my cue to leave! When you started banging your head, I lost - laugh out loud! Thank you Miss Fumi, fabulous!

Great tips! God bless you. When I first saw a female bang her hair because it was itching , I thought she was freaking insane. She just happen to be the cashier at a grocery store. Good hygiene and manners is important for both men and women and knowing that some habits is best left at home with the person and the savior. Pushing your chair in is so important . It drives me crazy to walk in any establishment and see the chair's scattered. We all are a work in progress, none of us are perfect. Thanks for these wonderful videos.

Aunty Fumi, we learned a lot of these from home; but sometimes, companies from Varsity, or work, kinda influence people to change. For me, my dating my husband INSTILLED punctuality in me. Oh yes! He left me one day when I was late, and I was horrified. My told me, that I deserved it. Then, she'd relieve me from my house chores to make it early to my dates. My father's family is loud, and I'm STILL working on my voice. I'm very conscious of it, so it's a work in progress.
What I ABSOLUTELY ABHOR is foul language, expletives: they just don't make sense, and most are demeaning to women.
Thank you SO MUCH FOR reiterating these values again. 🙏🙏

Yes fumi perfect. Many of the things you mentioned, people do not realize how embarrassing they look. I love your father’s suggestion. I never thought of that, but I always try to eat as little as possible for many reasons. Not to get anything stuck in my teeth, to pay attention to what is going on around me, and most of all to ensure I don’t look as you say hungry.😅

Good day Fumi I am glad to see this type of content because in today’s society it is very much needed…. I’m the same age as you born in the UK West Indian parents migrated to the US we grew up in a VERY different era but many women can stand to learn a lot of the 💎💎💎you are sharing especially if they’ve never been taught how to conduct themselves as a lady at social gatherings… One of my pet peeves is when I’m at a elegant event and there’s that one woman who takes her shoes off on the dance floor 😱🫣it’s like nails on a chalkboard for me smh… when purchasing shoes ladies learn how to walk in them with confidence it really makes a difference there are all types of tricks available… practice at home if you have to… 😄smh…👠👠👠👡👡

Dear Fumi, I'm a new subscriber. I stumbled upon your channel via the bra hacks. You're giving me motherly advise. Something I never got to experience as an adult woman. I wish I discovered your channel years ago.
I love your video's and I'll look forward to seeing more of your content. Thank you for all the advise. Greetings and lots of love from The Netherlands!

Thanks Fumi. I feel like these are all quite standard having grown up in the 80s. Perhaps because etiquette was still being taught at school then. I really don't know what happened to the teaching of social skills since then. That said my parents used to force us to practice then while eating at table at home and I also took my own kids to "Manners for Minors" classes when they were at crèche level (between 3 & 6 years old) after they'd started learning how to feed themselves.
