Amy Lee didn‘t like the male part in the song, but the record label obviously insisted. I personally believe that the two voices make song more interesting!
Very true. Just listen to Lindsey Stirling's "Love Goes On and On" featuring Amy Lee. Her voice is so well matched to Lindsey's violin that they almost sound the same in places.
I always love how Amy's beautiful angelic voice is backed by the bands' hard and grungie backing. It's a match made in heaven and it's been that way ever since they produced this particular track back in the early 2000's. So many other excellent Evanescence tracks to knock your spots off. Fantastic band, headed up by the amazig Amy Lee. God bless them. 🙋♂ 🙋♂ and God bless you both for another excellent reaction.
This is one of those iconic songs to last forever nothing but legendary still listen to it to this day, I remember I 1st heard it during the daredevil movie
I've had the opportunity to see Evanescence live in first Monday, November 03, 2003 Venue: Wolverhampton Civic Hall Location: Wolverhampton, England, United Kingdom first uk tours at was in the front row and was unbale to breath to see the bands see Amy Lee will blow you away. it from in the soundtrack of the film Daredevil. starring Ben Affleck.
The reason for the male vocals in this song was because the record company wanted a rapper in one of their songs. At the time, a female frontend band didn't sell albums so this was Evanescence's compromise. Amy Lee hated the idea at first but, she made peace with it. Check out Evanescence - Call Me When You're Sober. That video has a little red riding hood theme to it.. and the song rocks!
Amy Lee is still a legend. Evanescence released a new album in 2020 title track Wasted On You. She also did a song with Lindsey Stirling for Lindsey’s Album Artemis. It’s called Love goes on and on and it’s just Amazing. Amy’s voice is god tier ❤ And Lindsey did a song with Evanescence called Hi-Lo.
Amy reminds me of a couple of my favorite female singers from the seventies. Ann Wilson of Heart and Annie Haslam of Renaissance, similar type of vocals. There's so much more to dive into, Call Me When You're Sober, What You Want and a great cover of Korn's "Thoughtless" toname a few.
Great reaction Sam and Phil! Amy has such a beautiful and powerful voice. If you want to watch another version of this song, Amy sang this song with the Wagakki Band at one of their live shows. The Wagakki Band is Japanese and uses traditional instruments.
I’m just glad I got to listen to Amy Lee at local establishments before Evanescence became a global interest!!! Little Rock establishments pay tribute to AmyLee, thank you and all the best for your career, hope we contribute to your success!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
The interesting part of this song,is that Amy Lee fought to not have the "famous rap version" as a part of this song. However, knowing that i still prefered thoose 2 going back and fourth,Amy Lee and Paul McCoy from the band 12 Stones. (I found it strange at the time that he was presented under Evanescence like he was a part of the band, while in reality he simply was a guest artist/a featuring artist. I would have loved at the time to have him presented in the video title as i watched it on MTV all the time. This song means something special to Amy Lee,as she wrote it as only 19 years old,so i get why she fought her producer over having rap parts. Ironicly, this is the version that blew up,so Dave Fortman (producer) obviously knew what he wanted and was talking about. This is around the time that Linkin Park started skyrocketing alongside the other Nu-Metal bands as people so eagerly wanted to classify it as. Evanescence mixed both Nu-Metal with Goth-Metal,wich you can clearly see in this video, and in My Immortal where Amy Lees makeup and setting is very Goth. But yeah,i love your take on the video and the lyrics. It was written by Amy after an exchange with an acquaintance during a time she was in relationship turmoil; the song is about having been desensitized and realizing all the things she had been missing in life. And i feel like this comes through the most with both her cleans, and Pauls "growls/screams" and rap parts. Is Going Under gonna be theese 2`s follow up? Still my favourite song by Evanescence. Always wondered how My Immortal would have sounded if i had more UMPH? I feel like the answer lies in Evanescence - My Heart Is Broken. I think that is my 2 favourite songs by them, Going Under and My Heart Is Broken. Amy Lee has had numberous vocalists trying to cover this last song mentioned. Then there is always a wonderful duet that happened back in the day too: Seether - Broken ft. Amy Lee. It has abit of Evanescence feel meets Seether vibe over it. Seether is considered one of thoose many Grunge Rock bands that came out of the blue back in the 90s,early 2000s.
This is from an era that yielded a lot of throw away tracks but this one hit me hard with the vibe. The “Alternative” music from the 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s was music that I could put my headphones on, sit in a recliner, close my eyes and take a musical journey, high on life, not chemicals. This song had that for me which is why I had to find out who it came from the first time I heard it. #hangovergang forever 🤙🏽
This was their first song to hit the radio in like ... what? ... 2003 maybe. The first time I heard it was on my alarm clock radio! Do people even know what the eff that IS now? LOL! It made an impression even though I was half asleep!
Next, "Call Me When You're Sober". Paul McCoy of 12 Stones was asked to sing with the group. At that time the label didn't think a female only voice would catch peoples attention....they of course were SOOOOOOOOO wrong as Amy Lee has become one of the best. Their contrast in this song is awesome however. Loved that you 2!
Though this isn't the genre of music I normally listen to, but I was into Evanescence pretty heavy because of Amy Lee's voice. "Lithium" is a dope record as well.
I Remember in the 06/2007 on 2009, They were in Fashion the Videos of Dragon Balls Goku vs Broly ah... Old Times 😅with this Song and Bon Jovi with It' s my life, with a many Video montages
They were forced by the record company to add that rapper to the song cuz nu metal was all the craze at the time and the producers of the movie daredevil wanted a nu metal song for their soundtrack.
I'm trans so when he said im living a lie there's nothing inside spoke to me living female which was a lie because that wasn't my true authentic self and i finally did something about it 2020 and now has transitioned to male now and no more depression
People mostly forget that the male vocal in this song actually is a feature. I have no idea what happen to him (i forget his name) but last i know he was lead singer for 12 stones
The male singer isn't in the band. He's Paul McCoy, lead singer of the band 12 Stones. The record label forced his addition to the song, on the grounds that a female-led rock band would not be "marketable." During an interview, Amy Lee stated: "It was presented to me as, 'You're a girl singing in a rock band, there's nothing else like that out there, nobody's going to listen to you. You need a guy to come in and sing back-up for it to be successful.'" In fact, several radio stations' programmers wouldn't even listen to the whole song, and wouldn't schedule it for airplay until the song was featured on the Daredevil soundtrack and people started calling radio stations to request it. in 2017, the band re-recorded the song without the male vocal part for their 4th studio album.
So the story goes The Record Company wanted them to be accompanied with a male singer so Amy lee in the band pack up their shit and went back to. I think it was Oklahoma where they lived and then they ended up coming to an agreement to just do one song with the male singer and that was this one. But if you want to hear a Heartbreaker when they will definitely touch a sad nerve, my immortal, very good song very deep meaning, very sad.
Hey, I am just now finding your channel so I haven’t been here long enough to know the process of requesting songs. Can you please tell me so I’ll know for future reference? Thanks guys. The record company was afraid of releasing this as it originally was without the male singer. They didn’t think it would be a hit if it was just Amy because they thought her voice wasn’t powerful enough.
Cool song. Thanks! Try Britain's Got Talent audition performance by Aliki doing Bring Me to Life. I wouldn't say it's better than the original, but it's a bit different, and really good, with an interesting story to go with it! Thanks again for a great video and reaction!

That tug of war scene - when he's trying to pull her up but she appears to be fighting - makes me think that he's trying to pull her into his world, but she's trying to pull him into hers. But in the end, neither wins. Girl, if your subconscious is telling you it's a hopeless case, you need to listen. Move on. There will be no winners here.
Amy Lee didn‘t like the male part in the song, but the record label obviously insisted. I personally believe that the two voices make song more interesting!
The male part is Paul McCoy from the band 12 Stones.
The duet is definitely makes the songs better, idk probably amy lee doesn't want her spotlight to be stolen or something
if there wasn't make voice the song would be bad.
Yeah because Amy Lee has ears lmao
Wait is that real? The male part is so iconic and is what brings the entire song together.
Amy Lee’s voice is still a voice to be reckoned with! This video will forever remain immortal!! Love you guys!!
Very true. Just listen to Lindsey Stirling's "Love Goes On and On" featuring Amy Lee. Her voice is so well matched to Lindsey's violin that they almost sound the same in places.
That's PAUL MCCOY of 12 stones ( the male singer ) Amy has such a fabulous voice.

12 Stones’ debut album is great.

Such a beautiful and powerful song, Amy Lee is an amazing Lady
video still gives me chills ... seen it over 50 times ... never gets old
A couple more of their songs are " Going Under" "Call Me When You're Sober" and a collaboration with Korn of " Freak On A Leash"
Sweet Sacrifice also
She also collaborated with Seether on the song "Broken"
Probably because she was in a relationship with Seether's lead vocalist at the time
This is one of those iconic songs to last forever nothing but legendary still listen to it to this day, I remember I 1st heard it during the daredevil movie
Hope you listen too 'Call Me When You're Sober' next, Amy Lee's vocals really shine there 🙂
Second that. My favorite.
Love that one too
I like that one but prefer the song going under

You are very lucky to of seen her coming up. I've seen her five times she is the best imo she is untouchable.
LP & Evanescence for me are the G.O.A.Ts of this genre of 2000s rock.
So damn good.

What a classic!!! Going under is my fave from that album. Just epic 👌👌👌

🇨🇦 There are two videos of these two songs that are Amy singing them live in concert, with her at the Piano !
i love them! saw Amy Lee in concert. her vocals are amazing!
my childhood song!!! this was my favorite song when I was 8
I just watched Amy a few weeks ago in Vagas at the Sick World Tour. She is still amazing
I saw them last year. Course she did my immortal. Her vocals are so good 🔥
Amy Lee was unhappily married and she met a guy that changed her world. Thus this song!!!
The guy is a band member from 12 Stones
What a group. Sensational.

The male vocalist if i'm not mistaken, is the frontman to a group called 12 Stones.
Though this isn't the genre of music I normally listen to, but I was into Evanescence pretty heavy because of Amy Lee's voice. "Lithium" is a dope record as well.
quick cool note she was trained in classical singing initially which is probably why it has that ballad feel
My man Phil was really digging this one..watching him jamming was so funny. 😄
I love Amy Lee she is magic. awesome reaction.

So unfair!! Amy Lee has the beauty.of an angel and the voice of one.

I recommend “End of the Dream” and “Bring me to Life” on their Synthesis album, if only to listen to
Both my immortal and Bring me to life were on the Ben Affleck Daredevil movie soundtrack
That's Paul, awesome singer, listen song Broken from 12 stones,it's awesome song, and Amy Lee, probably best female vocalist in the world ❤️❤️❤️
this song was used in Daredevil
I don't think Amy Lee ever accepted how much she was loved
