Thank you for this video. My husband bought me a Silhouette about 2 years ago. After he watched me make tons of decorations by hand but I haven't had time to learn more than just the very basic functions. This is very helpful.

Your video was clear, concise and the right length for a lesson. You really make it easy to learn. The offset is a new concept to me, and it took a moment t understand its use, but when you demonstrated using the colors (pink & yellow) I then understood. The site you shared is awesome indeed...thank you for a great video!

This is a great tutorial. I just got my Cameo and I only want to start with cutting paper for cards, I don't want to do anything with vinyl and every tutorial I've seen and blog I've read deals with vinyl. I just want paper basics! This tutorial was very helpful.

Hi Kimber! Thank you for precise and informative directions! I am a complete "newbie" and probably taking on more than I should, but I'm gonna give this a shot. My letters are rather thin on the words that I'm attempting and I'm wondering if I offset will this help me attain thicker letters? The last example you gave was offsetting the yellow and pink letters. If I made everything the same color, would that make for a thicker font in the words that I'm attempting? My 3 words are Bar Fly Crew. I'm using the PT Serif Caption font. At this point I welded the letters, but I was thinking that off setting might be a better option. The letters/words are going on a clear flat Christmas ornament that's round and about 5 inches wide. Thank you so much for your help and Happy New Year!!!

This was so helpful. If I may ask a question regarding text, please. When using script fonts with glyphs, a blue line appears under certain words/names - indicating a misspelled word. I've tried adding them to the dictionary but it doesn't seem to accept the word and the blue line remains which then also prints. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks so much!

Hey Kimber! Thanks for your great tutorial on using tText in Silhouette Studio! To be honest, I got an early version of the Portait back 2016 I think.. however, due to having to move my address so many times, my silhouette stuff has just boxed up and away for so long. Quite frankly, a lot of my silhouette stuff has gone missing (incl. cutting mat, cutting blade, tools etc and I am starting as a newbie. There is so much much new stuff out that frankly I don't know where to begin and what sort of cutting files you can use on basic Silhouette Studio. I have a Windows 10 laptop. Would you please advise me as to where to start!? Do I have to use vinyl etc? Help!!!!

I have the Cameo 3 and I have been trying to cut stencils for cookies. I cannot seem to get letters like the O, P, R, D, etc to cut correctly. I have tried bridging and still no luck. How do I keep the centers of letters in fonts so that I can make a stencil for painting on boards. Using COPPERPLATE GOTHIC font. Ie: Letters - D, R, O, etc... in capitals. And how to I get rid of an inner line in the letters? As the letter seems to have 2 cut out lines going around it.
    Thanks, Julie
