- We spent 5 full days exploring the charming Portuguese city of Porto in the north of Portugal, where we were seriously impressed by the array of colourful buildings, stunning riverside scenery and laid-back city vibe. Oh...and the food. The pasteis de nata were amazing! Porto is a historic city that's home to some beautiful churches, an abundance of sightseeing opportunities, boat trips, port tasting and much more. There are also some great places to visit just outside of Porto. In our video guide, we share some of the top things to see and do in Porto, with a few lesser-known Porto attractions.

Portuguese wall tiles are a big part of old architecture. Nice thing about them is the owner never needs to paint them. Paint stores don't like them. I was stationed in the Azores on Terceira. The main cities(places I visited) of Praia da Vitoria and Angra da Herosimo are both similar. Angra has an ocean side fortress, an old Cathedral and both have tiled buildings with orange rooftops.
