fantastic adaptation so far!
this is a peak series
I got the 10$ patreon! IT WAS NICE KNOWING YALL ON UA-cam 🖕 😊
@@billytheblackkid857 hahaha! 🤣
Its new couch time, Freshen that Scenery. Gets some Displate up.
@@muddyarsonist7090what’s the reason to do all that If they have a green screen
you know its serious when the no empathy trio are crying 😂
Lmao damn not the no empathy trio
@@YaBoyRoshi 😂 jk bro
Huh? These people cry in every show they watch?
@@arcanevi4477 No. Usually they laugh at deaths if a person dies really dumb. Roshi usually has no empathy for deaths. Lupa and Sheera will be emotional and Roshi is usually like, "well" and laughs. It's really hilarious though because it's a serious part. But it's one of the things I like about the reactions.
@@JMidoriya I wasn't asking, I was saying I see them cry in almost every show they watch
Fun fact: on the TV we hear something happening in Jakarta. Jakarta is home to the biggest mill factory which makes flour… Sarah and Joel are out of flour for the pancakes, then they decline to eat the neighbors biscuits, later Sarah doesn’t eat the cookies cause she finds out they have raisins and not chocolate chips… and finally JOEL FORGOT THE CAKE! The fungus was in the Flour! And they coulda been infected if they ate any one of those things during the day… thought that was a pretty cool detail
Mahhh, the spores were a much better way to spread the infection. What a loss.
@@NaoTolero It is spores. The spores were just in the flour, allowing it to spread so rapidly without anyone realizing.
@@NaoTolero Spores are cool but it just wouldn't make seense in live action. Spores aren't really visible to the naked eye. You can suspend disbelief in a game but realistically, you'd have to be wearing the gas mask at all times to avoid coming into contact with spores. Pedro Pascal already plays one character with a mask on his face the entire time it'll be nice not to play another LOL. I think the first look at the tendrils with that old lady were creepy . I'm excited to see where they take it.
If it were actually spores, humanity would get folded immediately. You'd have to be walking around like its Metro Exodus
@@Jorary209 that would be cool 😎
Making us follow Sarah for a whole day before she dies is such a brutal choice.
And such a good one too.
We got to see someone in Sarah’s school infected, more about the “flour being contaminated” & some character investment with Sarah… without changing or ruining who she is. A lot of good changes that didn’t affect the game’s story. Loved this episode❤️👀
It’s to create a connection. In the game you play her, that way you connect with her.
In the show we follow her day and we connect with her. Great way to show how to convey the same themes and connection across different mediums.
@@angelsantos8459
Wait, what? Who was the person from her school? And what do you mean regarding the flour?
@@lineage6579 A student that had a shaking hand when they were studying
@@zozilin
Yeah, I get it now.
fun fact: sheera said that sarah reminds her of the actress who played Maeve in westworld, it turns out that this actress is the mother of the actress who plays Sarah here in TLOU
Sheeragan is undefeated
@@ABCDjjw she knows too much fr bro
As soon as I saw her, I instantly knew whose daughter she was. Nico Parker is basically her mother’s mini-me. They’re both so beautiful.
Seeing Sarah die again was tough to watch. Adaptation is fire tho. Love it so far
Yeah its fire its fire
Ya, although I kind of wished the same "Don't do this to me, please" dialogue was added. That line made me cry much than I was already.
The added, "Tommy help me," tears me up
@@johnnyzhou4480 you're not gonna have a good time if you expect every line to be the same lol
@@CharlieBrown20XD6 I don't expect everything to be a one for one adaptation, as that is an unrealistic expectation and some things don't corelate well enough in live action. I just really liked that extra line they said in the game because I felt it had a lot of impact. Although there are plenty of things they added of which I do like and some I also don't.
The outbreak/car scene was super well done and really intense even for someone who already knows what happens.
Yeah, I finished the game like 12 times. And I still felt tense that whole sequence. So masterfully done.
They even played syke with us with the car collision
@@KhepriProductions2022 That really was subverting expectations done right!!
They captures the game for the most part
That fake out crash was a nice treat for gamers.
Lupa: "Yeah you just gon' murder me without my consent"
That got me 😂😂😂😂
I expected Lupa and Sheera to cry, but it even got Roshi when he's played before? Just showed how powerful an opening that was. It's not just about a girl dying, but demonstrating the joy of their relationship so you truly understand his loss. Great job, in the game and the show.
Yes. In the game we spend less time with her, but we CONTROL her and as such there is a connection there. So time doesn't really matter, it just works. But on the series, expending on her before shit hits the fan was brilliant.
Shit I’ve played the game twice and it got me too lol. It’s so heartbreaking
He actually cried in the little bit he's played of TLOU2
I played the game years ago, watched walkthroughs too, and I still feel tears prickle at my eyes. It feels so real and raw every time, phenomenal acting all around, and it makes me think of real-life parents who actually do suffer with the death of their own child, which makes me even sadder. Sarah was such a good kid, a kind person we get to know in such a short space of time, and her life is just snuffed out like that so brutally.
honestly her death hits harder in the show, joel shouting "help me tommy!" broke me a bit
Pedro Pascal is killing it! Just the emotion he puts into every word while he's holding his dying daughter feels so real and raw makes you feel like you're right there. Phenomenal acting!
One of the best actors in the game rn🤞 even as mando in the giant helmet he can express so much emotion
“HELP” and “They’ll never believe you” had me rolling.
Good to see y’all are enjoying the show
Dog was like “we both seen that shit right ?” 😂😂💀
That dog knew shit was about to go down before it really started
12:19 Lmao
Lupa and Sheera: with tears in their eyes, still recovering from the last scene
Roshi: BASTAN
LMAO
Favorite lines from this video
Sheera: “Yup, and I’ll kill her again”
Roshi: “they are making a sequel, it’ll be called ‘The First of Us”💀💀
Lupa: “you’re just gunna murder me without my consent. This sucks” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
finally the reactors I've been waiting for to get to this show
Same , they have such a great energy i always have a good time watching them
The jokes, banter, and theorizing are always top notch

@@gemigisteve5947 I get what ur saying but in a way, that kinda makes them unique idk

Shoutout for the editors note at 3:25 saying important stuff about fungus
X3MA must've love 'fungus' a lot 😏
nah what's crazy is that supposedly the fungal infection spread through grains, like wheat. So all the times Sarah and Joel didn't eat biscuits, said no to cookies, and forgot the cake saved their lives
3:13
I'd like to take a moment to appreciate this kind of fun fact from the editor. I actually started checking the documentary and it looked amazing. Editor-san, feel free to drop more of these gems every once in a while 🙌🏼
They made us all cry at Sarah’s death like it was the first time 😭😭
I feel like it was worse in the show. They added a few extra seconds. It stings 😭😭😭
I was dying laughing when Sheera impersonated the dog and said “they would never believe you” 😂😂😂😂
Also when they edited the dog saying “Help” when he scared Sara.😂😂😂😂😂
Man I thought I wasn't going to cry again. Great adaptation.
yup. Played it for the first time almost 10 years ago now. Replayed it more then 5 times by now. But when Joel said "Tony help" I crumbled man. I....I can't explain it, the desperation on his voice, and asking for his younger brother help on something no one can do in vain....dayum.
11:03 y’all did NOT splice in crying pedro 😭😂💀
The camera cut, and Lupa still screaming is freaking hilarious 😂
I accidentally hit the home button lmao fuck that game

Man I just had one of the saddest nights of my life, with my grandma on her last metaphorical legs and the whole family breaking down while I wheeled her to bed, but y'all might just be the only ones on UA-cam able to get a laugh out of me currently, and I appreciate you so much for that. Though, this show might not be the best for that.
She is gone now...
Damn so sorry to hear that, my thoughts are with you and your family man. ❤
Best wishes man, hang in there.
Thinking of you tonight, been there, man. You can get through this
I hope it gets better man!

The actress playing Marlene in the episode is also the voice actress of Marlene in the game.
I like how Marlene is played by the actual actress who did the mocap
And the voice
As someone that hasn't played the game, this show was still great to watch. Makes me actually want to play the game.

I never played TLOU but fuck when I saw that beginning outbreak scene I got chills. My heart drop and I was trying so hard not to cry. Never realized this was game adaptation until the end when we exited the HBO menu. I was surprised and immensely impressed. I can’t wait to see more!
those first 20 mins got the whole crew sobbing bro
They did the scenery super well like even some of the buildings were to the POINT almost thought it was a cutscene from the game 😭😭😭
The dog saying help had me crying 😂😂😂
I'd have taken that sweet baby lol
My expectations were low, but I was pleasantly surprised. This has the potential to be one of the best video game adaptations ever.
Not the dog actually yelling help at 7:14 lmfao
Bro fuck navigating back in the day. You had to print out all your directions from mapquest and if you missed a turn you're just lost as shit hoping you find your way back to a road on your print out. Shit was wild.
Love when the Jamaican rise up from lupa lmfaoooo
1:45 Had me DEAD, Lupa was not playing around LMAO
This show has power! Everyone started having tears in their eyes. They never cry at all! Good job Last of us
The way Joel says Tommy help me when Sarah is dying kills me 😭😭
7:14 That edit on the dog killed me.
I like how they gave the VA for Marlene the actual role...Like she was one of few who they actually used her body as a model in the game so it made perfect sense (plus, she's one of the people who did the clicker screeching noises, shit was scary to see in the booth).
Man I cant WAIT to see the main characters show up. Brick, Bat, and Bottle.
Yo your editor is fucking hilarious. When the dog came to the window and screamed help I was dead. I must've rewound that part like 5 times. In fact, I'm still weak just thinking about it.
I love how the actress who plays Marlene in the show, is the same who played in the first game

This has the potential to be one of the greatest shows ever to hit TV and it’s barely the first episode.
I also love the little art you throw at us with the music between your spoken intro and the reaction starting.
Yall got the fire editing and intros and transitions.
It’s dope they had the showrunner, Craig Mazin, cameo as the soldier who shoots at Joel and Sarah 👀
I love the raw reactions- it's refreshing to see people moved to tears, thank you guys for sharing this with us! I love watching movies with you!! ❤❤

Man seeing them all tear up, you know this show is going to be amazing. The reactions was just TOP tier this episode and the commentary as always funny asf.
Lupa is just like me with those kinds of games. Screaming and jumping around in my chair lol
Lmao that Lupa bit in the intro got me rolling ☠️☠️☠️
22:01, I like the little sound indicator they use when an enemy sees you. Nice callback to the game.
OMGGG YEESS!!! Right when I was gonna search up reaction videos to the pilot episode, here you guys are!!! Super juiced to kick back and watch you guys (: thank you so much for this! By far my favorite video game since the age of 13!
The sound design on this show is some of the most breathtaking shit I've ever heard & faithful as HELL to the games
LETS GOOO DIDNT THINK YALL WOULD REACT TO THIS SO SOON! IM SO HAPPY
Shout out to the editor for all those fungus facts at the beginning of the video
I think the scene where tommy and Joel got separated with a vehicle on fair is straight up A RESIDENT EVIL 2 reference that was GOOD!!
7:14 made me choke on my lunch just now. I love these edits.
Lmao is lupa Jamaican or sum? That bombo rassclatt is accurate
I’m pretty sure him and Roshi are.
Yep
Absolutely y’all is one of my fav reaction channels. Emotional when the right buttons are pushed and all really funny as well!
That opening scene had me creeped out as what the epidemiologist was explaining how Cordyceps; which is a real fungus in our world, can not only take over a person’s mind but control them while they’re STILL alive & aware. Plus, the way he describes it is so based on scientific fact & the thought of it happening in our world sends shivers down my spine. Such a smart way to start the show as I got immediately sucked into the world!
p.s. love how HBO is adapting the game as it’s so damn faithful in-terms of the story, with changes that service it. Already my favorite live action video-game adaptation, up there with the likes of others adaptations like Arcane & Castlevania! Plus, huge shoutout to the cast as they’re literally killing it! Especially Gabriel Luna as Tommy; who sounds EXACTLY like his video-game counterpart, & Nico Parker for giving us an endearing Sarah.
That lupa clip got me crying I gotta see those streams
The house on fire comes from people cooking something and either getting distracted or killed, this good catches on fires and than the house

I wasn’t sure how I was gonna feel when THAT scene happened, then it happened and I realized “Yup this still hurts” lol
12:19 As someone who lives in Boston I can confirm this is how it is currently
you three are perfect. each one of you have different emotions. love your reaactions!!!
I love how they’re incorporating multiple parts from the game aside for staying true to story. Such as using the actors for the clickers so it gives the team that worked on the games a chance to work in the show as well and not just rehiring.
That squeak noise when Ellie flew into the wall😂
You guys should watch Paul Stamet's speech where he talks about his mother's cancer.
As far as the “why do so many peoples houses catch fire during a zombie apocalypse” Dinner/Lunch, people cooking is why houses catch fire during a zombie apocalypse.

Everyone talkin about how great the breakout/Sarah scene, but for me another scene stealer was the actress who plays Tess. She is amazing, and I’m waiting for really good things for her
Fringe & Mindhunter both feature that actress, she’s amazing.
bro the acting from pedro was top tier. Mans got yall clapped in the first episode😭
Loved seeing you guys’ reaction! Lupa’s excitement for the show was contagious😂
I think one of my favorite details is Curtis and Viper. In-universe, there are supposed to be 4 movies in the franchise, and Joel went to see the last one before the outbreak- we can see an old poster for it next to Joel in the QZ when that one guy tried to recruit him into the Fireflies. Curtis and Viper 2 is the last movie Joel watches with Sarah in the show, and the second game, it's a movie that Ellie wants to watch with Joel as well.
I do like the way they did Ellie. She's perfectly acted and written 😂
I love that they were so detailed with this show compared with the game, even down to sarah and joel watching curtis and viper 2 which ellie talks to dina about watching with joel in the last of us 2, perfect adaptation so far and hoping this serious delivers on every episode!
Bruh everytime without fail that intro beat gets me hyped af
