Do the people saying it's anti-feminist to criticize authors like Colleen Hoover and E.L. Fun extra fact with Nov 9; Ben *assume* his mom committed unalive over a breakup, but we never actually know if the parents were dating. There's lots of signs they were just friends who Ben assumed after seeing they texted each other. And shortly after the mom's death, Ben sees the dad being sad and thinks he doesn't deserve to with Ben's assumption of things, and that's why he starts the car fire that becomes the house fire that ruins Fallon s life. It's only later, right before Ben is seeing the news report about the fire, that his brother goes hey have you read the note, and the note explains no the mom had terminal cancer and didn't want to stick her kids with the medical bills. And just took actions first instead of telling her kids her plan??? Also wild you didn't even mention Ben dating his brother's widow for a year just after that brother died.
Love how every Carley video gets age restricted for no reason so we get the little sneak peek when it’s up for like 1/2 an hour and then we have to wait for a day gaslighting ourselves into thinking that video didn’t exist and then it reappears so we can watch it in full 🤩🤩🤩

(The ex-girlfriend is shot in self-defense and dies on the spot) When the couple is saved, the girl (Layla) is not her usual self and she’s very anxious (well I wonder why the girl’s been shot and almost killed!) and the guy is just bored with her and cannot stand her anxiety. At the same time, a spirit called Willow appears at their home and starts to communicate with the guy asking for his help to figure out why she is trapped in that house and whether she’s dead or stuck in between or whatever..he allows the spirit to take over Layla’s body when Layla goes to sleep and starts to communicate with it through Layla’s body, and he falls out of love with Layla and gives no shits about her, gaslights her when she’s thinking that something’s wrong with her body and she’s not sleeping enough, ties her to the bed when she finds out what he’s been doing with Willow, and abuses her..all this because he falls in love with Willow (the spirit).. Spoiler Turns out Willow had been Layla’s soul trapped outside of a body while the embodied Layla was his ex-girlfriend’s soul taking over Layla’s body..all this justifies what he’s done to Layla and the abuse he’s led her through because wow turns out she is Willow and they are soulmates!!

Spooky things start happening and long story short, a ghost posses Layla’s body each night and the guy falls in love with the ghost. So he’s cheating on Layla with a ghost in Layla’s body. PLOT TWIST it is revealed that when the ex gf shot Layla and was killed, Layla actually died and her ghost went to the place she met the guy and the ex’s spirit went into Layla’s body. So the ghost is actually Layla and they have to kill Layla’s body in order to get the ex gf out of there.

My toxic trait: Wanting to live closer to Canada to be BFFs with Carley to watch movies, read books, listen to music and talk talk talk.
That's what I commented yesterday.
I love women too, we have another thing in common 💙💙💙
this is so kind!
@@uncarleyI mean it. Girls day anytime you want. Shoot we can invite all us UnCarley fans. It would be a blast.
I realize now how lonely I actually am that it would be so fun to meet up and chat about books. Oh my life.💙💙💙
A parasocial queen
I've never read her books but im 99% sure half of the reason her books are popular are because the covers are so cute and aesthetically pleasing
yes absolutely they look GOOOD
It's because they market them towards young adult audiences as "romances" and young adults have no notion what a healthy relationship is like (I'm speaking from experience, I would've loved this crap if I was 13)
@@gabrielaharries8149 I definitely had a healthy notion of what a relationship is. I hated toxic romances when I was a teen ( except Twilight ofc)

this video got age restricted but colleen hoover is still out there letting her characters make fun of a newborns testicles, sure.

I'm a TA in English Literature (in a non-English-speaking country) and a TON of my students were shocked that I never read Colleen Hoover books and were like 'you *have to* they're sooo good' and I am so glad I never took that advice. Not to say that I don't read other literary trash, but this seems like a lot
Can’t forget that in Ugly Love the girl he had a kid with was his *step sister* - does it come up later and is it important to the plot? Absolutely not it has no affect on things it’s just a fact that’s just THERE like WHY
NOO
they were never actually related tho
the laughing at their son's balls quote will always be living in my mind rent free (derogatory)
THE VIBRATOR AD IS JUST SO COLLEEN
Hey thanks for taking one for the team and analyzing these pressing matters. I’ve always wanted to know the tea about her but could never bring myself to read the books so thank you ily
im so happy to save you the time
I recently made the unfortunate decision to read her book “Too Late” because I hadn’t seen many people make videos on it so I felt a glimmer of hope but I was appalled by how genuinely awful it was 😭😭
literally all her books seem UNHINGED
@@uncarleygirl they are 😭 it would be funny if u know there wasn’t all the ~romanticising of abuse~
@@aislingkennelly850 I NEED to know the story line. Villianise CH's writing as much as possible and call that book shitty please, when you tell me the storyline 'cause I'm a #cohohater to my core
@@daidipyaa omg so basically the book literally starts off with an assault scene (massive TW for that and it’s continuous throughout the book ew) then u learn it’s about a girl called Sloan which is actually a pretty name but anyway and she lives with her bf who’s a drug dealer and she puts up with him and his awful abuse to save her brother who’s sick and she has no source of income 😭 then she’s basically “rescued” by an undercover detective and they start a secret relationship but it’s just so badly written it’s unbearable and there’s no connection to the characters i just hated it so much lmaooo i feel like the actual story had potential but CoHo has zero writing skills and continues to prove that with all of her books❤️ there’s so much unnecessary violence and assault it really added nothing to the story, i’m all for authors writing about dark and even taboo topics if they do it correctly, but she does not. last thing i’ll say is i hated the unnecessary violence against Sloan because it felt like we the readers are meant to root for her relationship with the detective guy who “saves” her, but she’s been so abused and all the men are so awful besides mr. detective that i’m like of course she’s going to like him he’s the only “decent human” in the story, but he still has a position of power over her and abuses that… and don’t even get me started on the lack of female characters and if there are any they’re seen as “competition” unless we’re explicitly told they’re not like the detectives work partner 😭😭 this is such a long comment so i hope it answers your question lol!!
@@aislingkennelly850that was amazing, thanks for taking the time bc I'm never reading any more of her shit, but I need to know the talking points to flag the abuse
That one sounds so bad I don't even want to watch a summary, so bless you for saving me the trouble
HOT TAKE: All of the people who read c*llen h**ver books and “enjoy” them only like them because they never went through a w*ttpad/ao3 phase and it SHOWS. Based off of the summary of these (god forsaken) books I have read the equivalent on w*ttpad when I was 14. I can currently read better books for free on these websites. (PS I hate her books because I don’t condone abusive relationships in books. I have already read enough of them written by 13 year olds lol)
Her books just smell of 2013 Harry styles fanfic
Like I genuinely can read better written and composed literature for free on ao3 written by a phd student
I feel like her book “Layla” is not hated enough I wish it was in this video, the world needs to know how fucked up it is
May i ask what it’s about ? I’ve seen it a lot and I’m curious
@@iris_0404 It’s about a couple who get attacked and shot at their home by the guy’s obsessive ex-girlfriend.
Spoiler
Turns out Willow had been Layla’s soul trapped outside of a body while the embodied Layla was his ex-girlfriend’s soul taking over Layla’s body..all this justifies what he’s done to Layla and the abuse he’s led her through because wow turns out she is Willow and they are soulmates!!
@@iris_0404it’s about this guy in a band and he meets a girl, Layla, when he plays a wedding gig and they fall in love. He has a crazy ex who finds out about her and shows up and shoots Layla and the guy kills the ex. When Layla wakes up she’s super different and the guy (forget his name) takes her back to the place they met.
BUT ALSO Layla post shooting is severely depressed and showing signs of ED. She doesn’t know she’s the killer ex gf. The guy ties her up while him and the ghost Layla figure out what to do

Thank you so much for lifting this weight off my shoulders I will never have to think again about if I should read a Coleen Hoover book or not
im so happy to help
Between uncarley, Nicole Rafiee, A Clockwork Reader, and Casey Aonso, I’ve had way too much Colleen Hoover exposure and now know the plot by heart of all of these books😭
everytime i feel insecure about my writing im going to come back and rewatch this video because this is like a new york times best selling author, literally one of the most famous YA romance novel authors. And it looks like this.
colleen hoover is certainly one of the authors of all time
I will never forget when I watched a tiktok about november 9 and was spoiled the “plot twist”. I literally just sat there baffled as to how anyone would read that and be like yes this is romance
1:50 Just because we disagree, doesn’t mean we have to disrespect each other. Exactly. ❤
Glad Carley didn't have to actually read the books to make this video cuz this already must have been torture, imagine the whole thing! Thank you for your service really
literally googling them was traumatizing enough
The REAL twist of November 9 is not the arson reveal, it’s that his name isn’t just plain old Ben, because that would be too normal, his full name is *Benton*

It Ends With Us was sold to me as a romance book and I had no idea what it was about. It’s so problematic that this story is sold / shown as a romance story. I enjoyed reading about the thought process of what goes on with people’s mind in these types of situations, but that’s it.
Edit: I still wish I knew how heavy this book was, before getting into it.
im a literature major and My friends were forcing me to read this book and i haven’t read it still but i could smell that it is bullshit from a mile away. I am just amazed at how it got so popular and my favorite thing ever is to be validated by uncarley 😆😆😆❤ lovedd this video
I remember being in the book shop and that day I thought ‘let’s be different !’ I’m usually a sci-fi, dystopian, murder mystery or mystery girlie, and I don’t ever lean towards romance. That day I picked up It Ends With Us, looked at it, and generally thought about buying it, before putting it back because I had other books I wanted more. The first thing I saw on UA-cam after that was a CoHO video talking about the contents of her book. I’ve never been more happy with myself, thinking that my teenage brain actually had something in it💀
