  • What is The Amp? First and foremost, it’s a 50W Guitar amplifier. The preamp is based around a single 12AX7 running at high voltage in a discrete Class A circuit. The tube preamp reacts with a guitar the same way any tube amplifier does: it generates harmonics and the sweet sounding high fidelity tone that tubes are known for. Along with tube EQ. there is on-board reverb and tremolo effects so that The Amp can be used as a grab and go amplifier. But thats just the beginning of what The Amp can do.

Also would it work "sound wise" with pedals AT the direct out? In other words whatever goes in would be output at the direct out,main, or pedal out? Thank you pal. Really. Fran

      In Laurel Anderton’s have it listed at £799, which in my world, aud, is about $1400. It might well be worth it, but it’s really hard to wrap my head around an analog class D circuit costing that much. If it was A$5-800 I’d have already ordered one.

  • @key2Dhwy
    @key2Dhwy 6 років тому

    It looks to me that one has to put pedals at the input of The Amp to use the power amp section and pedals connected to the Pedal Level Out cannot use the power amp section of The Amp, thus eliminating the pickup-to-tube connection if you want to use the power amp section with pedal effects. Was that clear? Either guitar>The Amp>pedals>other amplifier or guitar>pedals>The Amp>speaker.
    That seems odd to me to limit the signal chain in this way.

    • @sinjon
      @sinjon 5 років тому

      key2Dhwy The pedal output goes through the preamp tube. I believe the power section is all digital. This is a hybrid amp. So you’d still get tune sound when using pedals after the amp

    I am so happy to see guitar amps being made for real world use. Usually the newer practical designs are "jazz" amps. Lighter, aux outs, etc.. But most of them are not full featured. The Quilter Micropro 200 is a good example. That is a full featured amp. I would like to see more use of the small military style tubes, like the one found in the "Blu Amp". Bass players got hip YEARS ago!. It is to the point now they have a great selection of practical amplification. What did guitarist ask for AND receive. Low wattage, EXTREMELY expensive bedroom amps, with NO features. Go figure. I am a professional musician. I want an amp that is versatile. compact, full featured, and loud enough to do most gigs. I do not think that is an impossible request. I love the sound of a Fender Hot Rod. But the amps only work for 2 months. Same with the 40 watt Vietnamese Marshall amps. At any rate, I believe this is a step in the right direction.

    This is very appealing to me for small on the fly shows. One thing that I think would improve the product is if it had bigger knobs spread out across the top in the white space. Since I can see a lot of people wanting to put this on a pedal board, they may also want to make mid song adjustments with their feet.

    How about a smaller footprint and instead of trem and reverb have TWO amps for stereo config,no foot switches needed.IE an amp that fits on a pedal board next to, behind or ABOVE the pedals so the effects and amps are a single discreet board for quick set up and break down.Most guitarists have lots of pedals so maybe better to focus offering the stereo option no other manufacturer offers - it's a GREAT sound having that stereo field and that would make it so simple for set up/break down.

    hey milkman , you say a "class D power supply" i am guessing you meant to say the power AMP section , or what drives the speaker and output of this device is of the CLASS DEE variety . now are you going to clue us in on what the "D" is short for .... psst here is a clue for all you guitar guys with your wallets open .... the "d" in class d is short for DIGITAL . i can not make this up , i can not tell a lie . its true . if you read the description it says " blah blah BASED blah 12ax7 discrete class A blah harmonics sweet high fidelity blah tube tone , blah tube eq reverb tremolo blah just the beginning ... because the REST of the story ,. where this thing is getting its 50 watts from is from a power amplifier which the designers who created it have chosen to refer to its classification as DIGITAL . now i am no fool , i am WELL aware of reality as i have been building and using my own class d amp rigs since 2012 , my whole band runs them. i am merely being 100 percent honest here , i LOVE class d amps . but i feel the average guitar player ( cover band shredder types ) would DESERVE to know what they are GASSING for , as when THESE TYPE of "people" find out they have been lied too or held back any , oh i dont know KIND OF relevant info ... ( this thing is class D for DIGITAL ) this croud tends to light up the torches and storm the castle with little to no forethought or restraint ... just look at the comment section and see the butt hurt from buying entry level modeling products with horrible presets ( although these units are a charm to program and tend to sound very good for pennies on a dollar prices) and 2 hundred dollar spyder combo amps from guitar center to get a sampling of the buyers remorse turned rage generating a virtual hurricane expelled via an army of mouth breathing hater aid chugging keyboard warriors who will summon up a lynch mob at the slightest whiff of anything related to the binary system faster than i could say pinch harmonic . there certainly is no A/D D/A as we are all accustomed to with the much hated line 6 , or other digital devices this is a class d chip amp . so be careful what you wish for guitar player joe with your dreams of all analog tube tone to compliment your gauges , hipster beard , skinny jeans , man bun and ironic tee . CLASS D does NOT stand for "dank" .

    • @ethanmobley
      @ethanmobley 6 років тому +1

      petey twofinger The "D" in "class-D" absolutely, positively does not stand for "digital." That's a common misconception, and people (including Captain Anderton) incorrectly refer to them as digital amplifiers, but there is nothing inherently digital about class-D. As with anything, you can have digital elements involved in controlling and such, but the amplification in class-D is no less analog than class-A or AB amps.
