For the steroid response, you are entirely right. People will blindly follow what someone is doing, at the expense of their health. It is better to assume there are users than confirm which opens up a whole different issue.
I understand why people dont talk about steriods for reasons you mentioned, plus others. The real issue is that kids and ignoran tpeople think they can win the olympia, set records in PL, or win arm wrestling and strongman competitions natural... which they can't. Gotta get Kaz in the time machine as well. Personally I think Kaz is the one person from back in the day that given the modern advancement in, well everything since then, that he would a podium finisher against anyone from today. JP would be in that conversation as well. But personally I think prime Bill beats prime JP all day long. Hell in 1988 JP was in his prime, and Kaz was a few years past his best with a lot of injuries that took a hell of a toll on him and his performances. And yet against the odds Bill being past his prime very nearly beat JP in his prime. A prime Bill would have definitely beaten JP. (And can’t go by the results on Pure Strength ‘87 as there was so so sooo much shit that was pulled on Bill to make sure he didn’t do well. Even Geoff had mentioned a few of them. They played dirty to beat Bill as, and this is from Geoff himself, they knew they didn’t have a chance if they didn’t play dirty, and dirty they indeed played. Be interested to know your views on the current WSM show. Seems they’re going backwards in regards to advertising and hype. Still is the main event for me but others are catching up. I feel WSM seems to be falling behind in the way they promote it now.

Some thoughts: re: bit tom's coach, look at it from his point of view too, if you've got someone who is no longer responding to your input, then it's right for him to move on too. If you had a time-machine, you could take thor back to show him double-dipping. I will always laugh at the non-flattering pictures moving slowly into frame. How contrived do you think the thor/eddie beef is, because let's be honest, they've not done bad out of it financially.
Tom's saying he has a disc issue that's causing nerve problems. Isn't doing Glasgow, but is going to do Rogue. If you were his coach and his issues were as he says, would you suggest he sits out the rest of the year?
I genuinely feel strongman can discuss about steroid usage but it can affect their reputation to compete and get sponsorships. In summary their livelyhood will be affected just by doing that. However at the rate we are going, I have a feeling strongman will slowly become open about every aspect (programming, recovery, steroid protocol,etc). All in all people like Pa and Evan should be there to occasionally stir some trouble XD.
