My heart goes out to Graham Hicks. What happened in Vegas, stays in Vegas. That's the past now. Graham, if you're reading this, there's no doubt in my mind you can pull 505kg. Does he have the desire to devote another year of hard training for it...? Terry thinks he should go back to strongman comps. I think Graham at 40 should go for the DL record. And I hope Pa and Terry mind him for that year of hard training, as friends and colleagues whom he respects and trusts. Graham is a smart man and a proud man, but he needed some friendly guidance last week and he didn't get it. No one's fault...but a mistake that can be easily fixed and put right for next year...
Hicks should go for 502 in his gym, anyone who doesn't believe he's capable doesn't follow Grams training, he's an actual monster. Big love for the monsters quietly lifting unreasonably heavy things!
The constant back and forth about the Deadlift is because of two things firstly before Eddie lifted 500kg it was said to be impossible, he broke the world record record and then raised it by 30+ kilos to hit 500kg, a feet at the time astonished the strongman community. It was an iconic lift and will never be forgotten. It was also in competition in front of a large crowd and with other competitors. Secondly Thor lifted 501kg, through no fault of Thors it was in lockdown, so the conditions were different, no crowd, in his own gym etc. The lift was correct it was done with the correct weights and had the Guinness book of records there as well as the correct ref, so it was a good lift. The problem lies with how things change in competition with a crowd and others lifting with you, times get messed around, the crowd can be a distraction etc. This is why the saying goes it doesn’t matter what you do in training it’s what you do in competition that counts. I have no doubt that Thor will lift 505/510 in competition when the right amount of money is put on the table, he has nothing to prove to anybody. Eddies record stands for in competition and since 2016 everyone in competition has tried to beat it and not come close, in fact the closest we’ve seen was Mitch Hooper and he hadn’t trained for it. Now there is a competition that promoters can get behind Thor and Hooper head to Head in the deadlift, potentially both will break it and then I believe Thor will break it again. Once that happens, there can be no argument. Eddie Halls lift will always be iconic as the first man to lift 500kg in competition but Thor and Hooper will break it soon.

If the 2017 WSM events were chosen to suit Eddie Hall over all the athletes then why was the event selection not that good? The event selection at WSM was clearly not as good as it realistically should've been if the events were chosen to favour Eddie over all the other athletes considering the fact that the events at ESM (which Hafthor won) were very similar to the WSM event with the exception of the car walk at ESM Vs the squat at world's, both of which Eddie won anyway. So why was the event selection not that good? Surely Colin Bryce knew what Eddie's best events were back in 2017 considering all the Giants Live shows that Eddie Hall competed at and other competitions that Colin refereed and/or watched such as the 2015 Arnold strongman classic.

Rogue has become the world's strongest crossfitter 😂 I love the idea of the combo events, but they are so light. And WTF is a kettle bell doing in an overhead medlley? It feels like transitions and foot speed is going to make a big difference to people's results...
I don't mind Rogue being a bit different and having some crossfit aesthetic. It's mostly crossfit fans who watch this comp and if there is something that they can relate to and maybe consider to become strongman audience, it's a win for the sport. I don't mind events this year either, but they have to be heavy enough. Last year it was disaster, the pull was too heavy and bags were too close too light. I hope they make this right this year. What I really mind is their attachment to 10 athletes and some invites (including the missing ones) that were a disgrace. They should go for 12 or 14 athletes, the scene is too big to limit themselves with just 10. Especially for the comp at the end of the season, with lots of athletes battered and injured. I assume 2 or 3 of them will either perform subpar or straight out pull out of the comp. It's no fun to watch 2 horse race and giving higher arhlete count would be the best possible solution. Not a fix, but a solution nevertheless.

Glad to hear you clear up the eddie thor thing. Eddie was the worthy winner in 2017. Funnily enough a lot of the people who squinney that eddie had favoured events also wanted a deadlift free wsm so that kiels could get a win
When Terry Hollands shrank down, he was surprised how thin his legs were. 1 do you think he could have won WSM if his legs were bigger? . 2. The alien cunts quads are huge, is this his source of power. 3. Should Tom focus on his legs?
do you know what planet Mitchell Hooper is from because I cannot think of another strongman who started this dominant ,can you think of another strongalienman?
I see it a bit like we have the Olympics record, the World record, then Personal Best. There can be three times all running for any athletic event (for example). Eddie has the WSM record, Thor a legit Personal Best. Not the same thing.
Honestly, the opinion that Thor doesn't hold the deadlift world record has no solid ground to stand on. If you want to put a disclaimer that Eddie has the heaviest deadlift in competition - fine - but Thor has the unqualified world record. For the deadlift world record (that Thor holds) - the weights were weighed after, an experienced referee judged it, a Strongman body sanctioned it and WSM and Giants Live don't have any legitimate claim that they are the only body that can certify a strongman record, Guinness WRs was there, and the lift occurred at a designated time and was recorded. This lift was meant to occur at a contest so it wasn't as if this attempt was setup from the get-go to occur at Thor's gym - but lockdowns happened so Strongmen did the best they could. No one says they don't believe Thor lifted 501kg, no one is saying that Magnus made a shady call, there is just this hand wringing about the location it occurred. If Thor's record doesn't count, then Tom's 286kg stone doesn't count. Giants Live even de facto accepts this record as they put the record breaking attempt at 505kg. Deb8 me c#*t
Bro, watch the video. @2:29 "and I do believe that he deadlifted 501 also before any of you fucking run off with that". Thor has the deadlift world record. Eddie has the in-competition deadlift world record. Yes, Thor tried his best but lockdowns happen, so we recognize his in-gym world record and distinguish an in-competition world record. In competition doesn't mean someone else is streaming from their gym too. Get on a stage, in front of a live audience, as part of a competition, with multiple contestants, not just Fred in Chicago on video, and without having absolute control over timing and whatnot, and then you've got a competition. I'd actually put money on Thor being able to do this next month if he felt like it. He pulls the 1000 like a joke. So.. do it. Thor cares less about clarifying this for the world than he does getting the bag. So he's waiting to get a bag for doing it again, and I don't blame him for it. But you shouldn't care about this more than Thor does. p.s Tom's 286kg is a world record, but not an in-competition world record. See how easy that is. Its okay. :)
I love when Eddie dick riders talk about how Eddie did it in competition. The dude was a guest lifter who nearly died and wasn't even capable of walking let alone actually doing the rest of a competition. Embarrassing argument.
Hicks is not stronger in the gym, he maxed out at 450kg x 2 reps and 1 heavy rep of 465kg. I think Hicks should have demanded from the organizers that he should be allowed to use his own bar that he trained with, and his own platform so it would have felt more comfortable
Strongman has all been faked and scripted since Mark Henry. WWF needed to protect their investment and cut a deal to use fake weights etc. Other sponsors caught wind of it and did the same thing, allowing more money to come in and grow the sport. Anyone who gets genuinely injured at comps these days are usually unsponsored or just low down on their sponsor's roster. I'm surprised they didn't speak about it in the new Vince McMahon documentary. It's all about money at the end of the day

Overrated how? Thor has himself restricted GL would gladly have him, I wouldn’t trust to many other than GL to run it tbh, they can provide decent livestream , venue etc
Also how can u complain about GL price when it's 9 quid for what must over 100 shows past and present that u can watch and rewind seriously what a joke it's 9 quid at GL is entertaining where as Arnold's feels like a powerlifting show
Do you think if eddie could have trained to do the deadlift out of comp that he would have pulled 520 in his peek. Same set up and format thor done his wr. I think.eddie would have done 520 thor hit his limit at 501 his height puts him at a disatvantage for heavier weights. Were as eddie could have done much more weight. And only man that will do 505 or more in comp is the phenom mad moose mitch hooper GOAT
Mark Boyd and Don Idrees have fallen off the face of the Earth. Good riddance. Rogue pays well, but their last show had a cock-up event--the bull pull--that injured athletes needlessly. Giants Live is the gold standard, because Darren Sadler is a man who obviously eats, sleeps, and breathes strongman. Neil could use some new jokes, yes, and Kazmaier blows as a commentator...but Terry and Loz and Radzi are always outstanding at presenting, interviewing, and doing color commentary...

I feel like people don't understand what a record means. Sorry, but what you think is the official record doesn't matter, 501 is the official record, the end. Yeah, Eddie still has the record for highest lift in competition, but you can add all sorts of addendums to a record to make it legit, all that matters is what is the highest that is RECORDED in regards to the qualifiers given with the record. I have the unofficial record of highest deadlift in my home gym. It's a record because it's not hearsay, it's been RECORDED, but it's unofficial because there has not been any quality checks from any kind of trustworthy authoritative source that can reasonably make us conclude it is legit. So you, Eddie has the official record for highest Deadlift in a competition, big whoop, he also has the record for highest deadlift in THAT competition, or on THAT day. Thor has the official record for highest deadlift PERIOD. He has the official record for highest deadlift in his gym, highest in any gym, highest in finland, highest while wearing blue shorts, highest in the world, highest IN GENERAL, PERIOD. His deadlift is THE record because it doesn't need those silly addendums that remove certain higher lifts from the equation. Eddie has the highest in giants live, I have the highest in my living room while drunk, but Thor has THE HIGHEST, this is not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of FACT, that's what being an official world record means. And I'll do one better, not only was this a completely legit way to do a record in ANY circumstance, eventually during covid, but it's the superior way to do it and the fact that there are more controlled variables means it is MORE legit than any in competition record, and ALL records should be done this way to maintain the purity of the sport. To prevent unfair advantages, to prevent people coming only to do a record while skipping the rest of the comp or half-assing it simply to get that "in comp" requirement out of the way, and to prevent uncontrolled variables that potentially invalidate the validity of the record. I have spoken.
No hate, i don't think hixxy can pull it. Least not going by his previous prep. If he gets stronger at locking out? Then maybe, as he isn't lacking speed, but doubt it. Thats not hate it's just fair criticism. thats just silly, if Thor would weight the same as Mitch, he looks like when he boxed eddie, with a six pack and very low body fat, he is just naturally heavier
I see Mitch put the challenge out to promoters to host a 505 lift. I'd hate to see them do it under one of these one off shady middle eastern deals. Won't feel as legit being in a one time show in Dubai or something. They probably won't end up getting paid either.

Pa O'D'wyer, my first stop while having breakfast. Your opening thoughts on commenting about people's comments: "It's fun to do while we wait for people to lift heavy shit." You never disappoint.
On the 501 KG saga: I completely agree with you. I've competed and performed professionally on international stages around the world as a ballet dancer, but I've always been into lifting heavy and boxing since my teens and still lift at 57. There's a huge difference between what you can do in rehearsal and what you can do on stage. The stage, the lights, the audience, the judges, the lead up to a performance or lift (that has to be done when you're told to not when you decide you're ready "in your shed"), all those things change how you feel and perform. Some rise to the occasion and challenge, and some fall quite spectacularly. I've seen great athletic ballet performers (who were amazing in a rehearsal) but ended up looking intermediate level dancers. Some chucked their guts up before and during performance because of the anxiety the stage caused them. People who say it makes no difference (where or when you do something just as long as you do it), I would say they have never competed or performed, or they're just "Silly C#NTS" © Pa O'Dwyer. By the way, great vest.

Rogue has become the world's strongest crossfitter 😂 I love the idea of the combo events, but they are so light. And WTF is a kettle bell doing in an overhead medlley? It feels like transitions and foot speed is going to make a big difference to people's results...
Do we know the weights yet?
@@xaviermitchell578Hooper released a video on it
And yet they're still heavier, livestreamed for free, and a better event than WSM....
What's that tell you?
What about the stone platforms all being lower than the year previous that was mentioned alot any truth to that
Did not hear that before il check
@@paodwyer__ it was mentioned by world's strongest fan just after the event plus other things but I can't remember what they were
Pa, this format really suits you. Bluntly cuts through all the BS that floats around Strongman with people too afraid to speak their mind because it's a sport full of ass kissers
10:42 I was at giants live last Vegas, I was sure Hicksy was gonna pull 505. Was shocked he had a mishap on the lift before. I feel for him because he’s dedicated so much time to that lift and I know he could have pulled it. I agree with you hopefully we can “ bully” him into pulling 502+ in his home gym.
Keep up the great work Pa
If Martins was healthy do you think he'd have a chance of beating Hooper and Tom at WSM?
Tom, maybe. Hooper, no chance.
Healthy? Absolutely. He was the same kind of athlete as Hooper, maybe slightly weaker.
But man, idk if he'll ever be healthy again :(
Heard a lot of hatred about your videos and commentary on the internet. Gotta say pa, its all a bunch of shit. Your great and i have been loving your videos. You got a new subscriber
Pa’, what is your future looking like competition wise???? How are you feeling?
A strongman athlete union had been a topic discussed in the past what is your opinion on that?
Glad to hear you clear up the eddie thor thing. Eddie was the worthy winner in 2017. Funnily enough a lot of the people who squinney that eddie had favoured events also wanted a deadlift free wsm so that kiels could get a win
A strongman competition without a deadlift isn’t a strongman competition imo
100%
Your points on how WSM 2017 events were not rigged is spot on! I've been thinking about this for a while, and I'm glad someone else has said the same.
When Terry Hollands shrank down, he was surprised how thin his legs were. 1 do you think he could have won WSM if his legs were bigger? .
2. The alien cunts quads are huge, is this his source of power.
3. Should Tom focus on his legs?
I love Pa's exasperation for these silly sausages.
Pa what are your thoughts on the upcoming armwrestling match in December between Brian Shaw and Eddie Hall and who do you think will win?
Shutting down the thor crybabies excuses! Awesome!
Why did you not compete at giants live qualifier?
do you know what planet Mitchell Hooper is from because I cannot think of another strongman who started this dominant ,can you think of another strongalienman?
I see it a bit like we have the Olympics record, the World record, then Personal Best. There can be three times all running for any athletic event (for example). Eddie has the WSM record, Thor a legit Personal Best. Not the same thing.
Soz meant Eddie has THE competition deadlift record
Great idea to get behind Graham to do in his gym in his own time and he can pull 502kg and get the gym pr record
Hicks is not stronger in the gym, he maxed out at 450kg x 2 reps and 1 heavy rep of 465kg.
I think Hicks should have demanded from the organizers that he should be allowed to use his own bar that he trained with, and his own platform so it would have felt more comfortable
Just like thor
Strongman has all been faked and scripted since Mark Henry. WWF needed to protect their investment and cut a deal to use fake weights etc. Other sponsors caught wind of it and did the same thing, allowing more money to come in and grow the sport. Anyone who gets genuinely injured at comps these days are usually unsponsored or just low down on their sponsor's roster. I'm surprised they didn't speak about it in the new Vince McMahon documentary. It's all about money at the end of the day
I think with 2017, Thor should have won the tyre flip because he's faster than Shaw and the plane pull for obvious reasons. So there's 2 points
Would love for you to react tom getting rid of that dangerously lazy inept useless creep Dan 🎉🎊🎉🎊
I have been the only one calling for this since 2019.
I even got banned from visiting their gym (had a break in highlands every 4 weeks for a weekend) because i was constantly causing scenes online about how bad he is.
The so called mobility coach didnt help. Making you two do advanced stretches (at worlds) without even 30 seconds light cardio, nothing!!!! still to this day triggers me 😅😂😂😅
That's like taken a band oit ofr freezer and expecting it to stretch
Hope Graham does go for 502 in the gym or even 500kg
Let’s everyone keep bugging him lol

Should've done it 3 weeks ago when he actually peaked 😂
What would happen if Eddie hall came back?????
So weird to be hating on GL when they’re by a million miles the slickest productions. By a million miles. It’s fanboy stuff.
Why can’t these people just appreciate all the shows? Rather than hating like a petulant 12 year old.
❤
Hello from sweden
I like fish!
Do you feel Eddie is overrated within strongman with only 1 major titles where Thor has 8 major titles Europe 5 Arnold's 2 WSM 1 ...As Thor is really restricted in competitions as he wont lift in any GL comps so would it work if Glen Ross put on max DL comp ?
Overrated how? Thor has himself restricted GL would gladly have him, I wouldn’t trust to many other than GL to run it tbh, they can provide decent livestream , venue etc
Btw, I have the world record deadlift using a block and tackle(not in competition though)😂😂😂
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You know what carries a lot of weight for me? Half ton deadlifts
💪🙂
Pa you the man keep up the good work
Mark Boyd and Don Idrees have fallen off the face of the Earth.
Radzi is the king and I won’t hear otherwise
You can't even say that word on your shirt, the way you have it spelled, because of youtube censorship.
Omg thor fan boys are going to go crazy with excuses even when facts are put in front them this should be funny
I think Hicks should have demanded from the organizers that he should be allowed to use his own bar that he trained with, and his own platform so it would have felt more comfortable

And just like Eddie.
@@getchapull3541 you mean same bar and weight everybody else had chance to use tell me who else got pull same weight as thor to show it was real weight
Haha I notice you don't like WUS. It was WUS that had events called Rogue Record Breakers. Not that hard to understand.
Thor will crush it soon anyway

Is your merch on sale in Glasgow in 2 weeks????
It’s not unfortunately, il be there tho hopefully 🤞🏼
@@paodwyer__ WTF!!!!!!!!! 🤣
thors was just a gym pr
No hate, i don't think hixxy can pull it. Least not going by his previous prep. If he gets stronger at locking out? Then maybe, as he isn't lacking speed, but doubt it.
Thats not hate it's just fair criticism. I'm a huge man united fan, but they are shit and i will say if another team is better, or if a player is without bias
Hixxy obviously isn't shit, FAR from it, but i doubt he can pull 500
I know Thor can and believe Mitch can
If Mitch & Thor both pull 505 Mitch would be the better lifter because he is 50 pounds lighter
thats just silly, if Thor would weight the same as Mitch, he looks like when he boxed eddie, with a six pack and very low body fat, he is just naturally heavier
I see Mitch put the challenge out to promoters to host a 505 lift. I'd hate to see them do it under one of these one off shady middle eastern deals. Won't feel as legit being in a one time show in Dubai or something. They probably won't end up getting paid either.
