There are cars that sound good, there are cars that sound epic, and then there's the Lexus LFA! This particular car is one of just 50 Nurburgring Editions of the LFA and my goodness is it to die for. Did Lexus get it right when they made this!?
They made the perfect engine, sadly it doesn't have a perfect transmission to match it. Let's be honest my grandma can shift faster than that in her toyota camry, like holy shit those upshifts are horrendous.
I think this car in 50 years will be one of the most desired "classics" in the world from the last of the naturally aspirated era. No one is going to want a hybrid from this era because it will be dated technology. This is pure and will always be desired.
Stephen Mason the first hybrid supercars, the ones that have set a new standard and changed the high end approach to delivering power, won't be desirable? Ok then lol
As a collector and a steward of collections I will shed some light on what becomes collectible. Besides performance and rarity there are many more variables. I won't divulge my full formula, however one of the things that will prevent LFA being a future classic is longevity of its reliability. Will this be easily to maintain and enjoy in 20 years? Will you be able to just jump into a 30 year old LFA and drive it? How many shops will be able to service it. Will the parts be readily available? All the modern super cars that are heavily electronically over-manufactured will hit its depression bottom and stay there.
Bonifasius Edwin I was talking about cars in general. LFA, F50 and Zonda are, in my opinion, the best sounding cars ever. (Obviously talking just about the road going cars)
Dr. Josef Blough Ph.D. I guess your someone who doesn't know cars then. Because this is considered one of the greatest supercars in recent years. It was under appreciated when it launched. But as time went on people began to realize how special this is. stereotypical brand whores are the only fools who dislike it.
*Literally this is my favourite Sounding car ever made since it came out! Before that was the Carrera GT and the Murcielago SV...But nothing can Beat the YAMAHA sounding/Exhaust system of the LFA! 😍😍😍😍*
Very disappointed not to of heard outside noise / drive bys. You've got a team to help you, surely one of them could of held a camera as you flew past?!
if someone compares you with another youtube channel, at least be supportive, or joke about it, we all know that you do this over years, she just wanted to say something funny...
The LFA was a crucial turning point in Lexus history, an important step in their evolution. Before then, everyone knew that Lexus produced dependable,long-lived,if boring luxury vehicles. Sure, they technically rivaled the German automakers and were as dependable as Swiss timepieces but they weren't anything to write home about, either. The LFA changed the game. The car was well-crafted and brilliantly engineered, that was a given, but it also had something that previously was lacking in her predecessors--muscle,presence and a bit of swagger, enough to rival the mighty Godzilla himself. Example:the digital rev counter was revolutionary for its time but it was also deemed necessary--the traditional analog tachometer simply couldn't keep up with how high the car's V-10 revved everytime she left her European competitors in the dust. And yet,the LFA was so well-designed and engineered, and built with such attention to detail and such revolutionary materials that it didn't sacrifice luxury for performance--a lesson that today's automakers have yet to fully learn. Despite the astronomical price of the LFA,despite that Lexus would actually lose money for every LFA they built, they understood that the cars that followed in the LFA's wake would be better than ever before. Without the support of the head honchos who saw the LFA's potential, the Great Experiment would never have happened and without the Great Experiment, we wouldn't have gotten great works of automotive art like the LC500,the RC and the F-Series--mobile pieces of sculpture that have the performance to match their auto show looks. Today's Lexus is anything but boring.
This video goes straight to my favorites, Tim. This is pure passion! I love it. And the sound of that LFA... Earbendingly astonishing piece of acoustics!
Remember, this car did 7:14min at the Nürburgring 12 years ago with old tire technology and all the advantages of a luxurious interior, at that time that was the road car record, it's a real car, it's not a show off. petrolheads dream of driving and owning one, but with only 50 manufactured the price goes up more and more
Good get on the LFA mate. I like that you know people who can provide you and the viewers with these types of driving experiences and they trust you to do it. That was excellent.
Everyone fawns over v8’s and v12’s, and rightfully so, but some of the v10 engines give the best exhaust notes in history. The Carrera GT, the LFA, even the Gallardo/Huracan, have some amazing exhaust notes. The GT and LFA two of the best in history to me.
I just started liking this car. It’s the best Japanese supercar ever made. I know they had dedicated facilities/factories just for this car, like a carbon weaving section! They chose their best technicians to handle everything. They so need to make a new one!!!
Worked at a dealer for 4 years - during training, they'd re-iterate that it's part of their long-term brand planning, to build a new LFA every 20-25 years.
How could people dislike this car, it's a piece of art and sounds like an F1. Some people say that videos doesn't do it justice, but I'm here grinning. Can't imagine hearing it in real life!
I've been waiting for this video for long. I think that the sound that it makes, even in idle, is really astonishing and there's no match for other enhanced cars fitted with straight pipes exhaust. In the fullness of the time, most of the cars will have to be some to be better, due to the fact that we're now moving towards turbocharged engine and they don't make that pure sound like that on the LFA or the like!! I'd like to get something off my chest, if you still own your Ferrari, will you take part at the mille miglia?
Simply put. The low tech transmission served to save overall engineering concerns and weight. Furthermore the feel and sound harmony between shifts both up or down were more easily tuned with the slower shift speeds. In doing this the engineer's were able to perfect the "note and feel" of both. The driver gets both sensations simultaneously in a more viscerally exciting way. It lends the driver confidence within a few hours of driving the car for the 1st time. In doing this the driver "owner" can enjoy that beautiful sound and control it confidently. Driving with a permanent smile or grin is standard equipment on the LFA. Ask any owner the "note and feel" of the exhaust and transmission are high on the list of best reasons to own the LFA.
I'm talking about overall package, of course this won't be the best performance road car with Veyron and several other monster performers that have been released since this debuted. But this just has the overall best package, a blend of both worlds and the sound feeds your soul. Jeremy Clarkson has driven top notch performance super cars, even better ones than the LFA. You haven driven so many good supercar. But you still get so excited with this LFA. It must be god damn good driving it and hearing the music coming out from the engine. 😱

Shmee150 you should buy a regular one before the price reach 1 mil...
Dat transmission doe
Shmee150 damn, this transmission is so bad
The Lexus LFA is next to the Lamborghini Huracàn my favourite car. I love that engine sound sooooo much.
They made the perfect engine, sadly it doesn't have a perfect transmission to match it. Let's be honest my grandma can shift faster than that in her toyota camry, like holy shit those upshifts are horrendous.
Lexus LFA
Design: 100
Interior 1000
Sound: 10000
Engine: V10
That rear looks hot af
Like: 300!
lol
Gearbox 10
Interior should be 10

Stephen Mason the first hybrid supercars, the ones that have set a new standard and changed the high end approach to delivering power, won't be desirable? Ok then lol
no they wont be desirable because they simply wont work. lol
Yeah, but the oil that goes in these cars will be even more desirable, so you better start stocking up?
As a collector and a steward of collections I will shed some light on what becomes collectible. Besides performance and rarity there are many more variables. I won't divulge my full formula, however one of the things that will prevent LFA being a future classic is longevity of its reliability. Will this be easily to maintain and enjoy in 20 years? If only it was manual
After 7 years it still looks super fresh, modern and cool. Beauty!
Totally true
*_9 years isn't even that long ago_*
@@Shmee150 I’m a new fan
2022 and I still agree!
The LFA is one of my favourite cars ever and, in my opinion, the best sounding road car ever. Is just insane.
my lawnmower also sounds insane
z anthony lol sure
Nlargo 812 superfast
One of the best sounding cars in the world. No matter how old is this car is, the exhaust sound still rocks. Nice video Tim.👍🏼
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
Best sounding V10 ever made, even better than the CGT
Yes, 1. LFA 2. Carrera GT 3. Huracan/Gallardo 4. E60 M5/E63 M6 5. Audi R8 V10
Agree
Reminds me of the glorious days of Formula 1
Billeh yep then viper to me them huracan than r8 then m5 then GTA spano then carrera gt
autopost85 thats an accurate statement . The e60 m5 was a gem
autopost85 Huracan and R8 V10 share the same engine.
Lexus is one of my favourite manufacturers in the car industry.
ALL the F cars are amazing
Lexus are good for really petite/short people.
Better sound than an actual f1 car
That's because Formula One cars have a particularly ear-piercing tone which is rather higher in pitch.
Anything sounds better than nowadays f1 cars lol
TheUtgardian Channel yup, even an Abarth 4-Cylinder. ;)
kasi282 fake sound by Yamaha piping..
Sam Toure It’s not a fake sound... it also sounds best from outside too
The best sounding V10.
Daniel Sadjadian The best sounding*.
Only AMG engines (in the form of Pagani Zonda's engines) get close, followed by Ferrari and Lamborghini.
Imo Carrera GT on 1st place LFA on 2nd place M5 E60 on 3rd
all Pagani engine is V12
Bonifasius Edwin I was talking about cars in general.
LFA, F50 and Zonda are, in my opinion, the best sounding cars ever. (Obviously talking just about the road going cars)
Carrera gt straight pipes...heavenly!
All hail Yamaha!
Nyperia Yamaha b holding it down for Toyota tht engine is top
THE SOUND OF IT ALONE WORTHS EVERY SINGLE PENNY IT COSTS!!
Under appreciated car by collectors. I still can’t believe one with nearly no miles sold under MSRP a couple months back at Sotheby’s auction.
Dr. Josef Blough Ph.D. That is actually the exact opposite lol. An owner of an Audi dealearship owns an LFA.
Dr. Josef Blough Ph.D. I guess your someone who doesn't know cars then. Because this is considered one of the greatest supercars in recent years. It was under appreciated when it launched. But as time went on people began to realize how special this is. stereotypical brand whores are the only fools who dislike it.
Dr. Josef Blough Ph.D. Ph.D. my ass
Mike Labonte zero to sixty in four seconds "supercar"..?
timmy _ zero to sixty in 4 seconds..performance?
The best car ever made in my opinion
That's it!
*Literally this is my favourite Sounding car ever made since it came out! Before that was the Carrera GT and the Murcielago SV...But nothing can Beat the YAMAHA sounding/Exhaust system of the LFA! 😍😍😍😍*

That's a badass car, super nice
wonderful .... a car the DOESNT make all the fake pops, bangs and burbles!! How novel!! Well done Lexus!
Still watching this, this car gives me goosebumps and shivers my soul. The sound of this car is unreal.
Best sounding V10 ever. Nothing beats the sound of that 4.8L Naturally Aspirated 1LR-GUE V10 Engine 🤗
One of the greatest exhaust sounds ever!!🔥👍
You bet! Nice First comment today
Sourav Patil No Doubt
Does it have double clutch transmission or standard ? How do you fell about gear shifting ? I'm about to buy one but really relay on Shmee score
Sourav Patil
it would be a tough choice between this and the Carrera GT for best sounding v10
That was epic! Shmee has been really killing the videos lately. I just love the sound of the LFA because it is addicting.
What about all the cool quirks and weird features ... this is straight Doug DeMuro Style ;)
I think this is straight Shmee150 style, similar to many videos over the years now
huge fan of both of you , no offense ;)
if someone compares you with another youtube channel, at least be supportive, or joke about it, we all know that you do this over years, she just wanted to say something funny...
Shmee150 your too full of yourself
they do it in ever video. Joke gets old
Lexus LFA has the best v10 sound period
Say what?
Nexus LFA? Was that made by Google? Lol
The Lexus LFA is overrated, its all about the Nexus LFA.
‘L’ and ‘N’ aren’t even consecutive letters on the keyboard... how did you mess that up? 😂
The LFA was a crucial turning point in Lexus history, an important step in their evolution.

I am currently using a Lexus LFA in Need for speed Most wanted! What a coincidence....
Haha, have fun
Shmee150 Just hearing those exhaust brings music to my ears...
LFA sounds really good in that game!! In Forza Horizon 2 also
is it the mw2 or the shite one ?
Schwarznigga imagine calling the original most wanted the shitty one, you have the worst taste In racing games I’ve ever seen
This video goes straight to my favorites, Tim. This is pure passion! I love it.
And the sound of that LFA... Earbendingly astonishing piece of acoustics!
How can a car sound like that!(no words to describe the sound)
My favorite car😍😍😍
I'm not surprised! It's so good
Remember, this car did 7:14min at the Nürburgring 12 years ago with old tire technology and all the advantages of a luxurious interior, at that time that was the road car record, it's a real car, it's not a show off.
petrolheads dream of driving and owning one, but with only 50 manufactured the price goes up more and more
This car is a fine example of how awesome Japanese sport cars are. Anyways Great Vid
I HONESTLY preferred driving my Toyota MR2 over my Porsche 911 Carrera when I owned both concurrently.
Yamaha
Well maybe if I had an Mr2 and a carrera I would NOT drive the MR2 more
I want lexus and yamaha collab again! Greatest sounding car ever🔥
For me one of the BEST sound of the world .😍😍😍
Good get on the LFA mate. I like that you know people who can provide you and the viewers with these types of driving experiences and they trust you to do it. That was excellent.

Damn , I thought Tim wasn't going to slam it right to the redline in this car! How wrong I was..........
That noise has to be heard!
he went up to 8k, didn't hit the redline at 9.5k
Best sounding car ever made.
I love the V10 in this thing! It is certainly one of the best sounding cars ever made!
Definitely
I have the LFA exhaust acceleration sound as my morning alarm and its beautiful.
you are the only car-youtuber i watch consistently, because nobody else gets to drive so many different special cars!
Thank you!
Shmee did u ever consider getting a lfa at some point? Cause well that exhaust note gives me eargasms
I did, and with hindsight I should have done so!
Shmee150 :DM
I'm at a loss for words,Tim used them all up!
I just started liking this car. It’s the best Japanese supercar ever made. I know they had dedicated facilities/factories just for this car, like a carbon weaving section! They chose their best technicians to handle everything. They so need to make a new one!!!
the Lexus LC500 sounds also very very sick!
Timo Klap not CLOSE to LFA
Yeah the LC500 sounds beast too. Lexus IS quickly getting a good reputation for making great sounding cars
And now Toyota is doing fake BMW cabin noise with the Supra 😒
3:36 “Just listen to this...”
*An unskippable ad plays*
Best exhaust sound ever!
The technology may be outdated, but That sound will never be!
I love the sound of the lfa
What a beautiful car. The design is functional but still elegant, that makes it timeless.
Who else would you go to to tune your exhaust system than a manufacturer of musical instruments, and the LFA is pure music.
Musical instruments AND motorcycles.
Reverend Eslam musical instruments came first and thank god it doesn’t sound like a motorcycle, urgh!
Not to forget the Carrera GT. Same amazing V10 Sound. These 2 Cars will go down in History for their *epic* Exhaust tone.
holy sh*t your reaction to the sounds at 6:58 made me feel like i was in the car also ha, great video.. what a car!!!
Amazing car. In 2010 this was definitely ahead of its time, even more futuristic than some cars from 2017.
Thanks Smee!!!
Amazing sounds!
This made my day
This car was ahead of it´s time especially the interior!
I absolutely love this car, what a sound! What an engine! What a sound! #Bestcarever Great video!
That sound is a speeding ticket collector!!!
Makes it so tempting to just keep the accelerator floored.
What do we have to do as a civilization for this company to make another car like this
Lexus intends to make an LFA every 20-25 years so that every generation of enthusiasts can own one. (Or at least save our pennies, hoping)
Garismatic AN LFA ?:P we need more, where'd you find that info tho
Worked at a dealer for 4 years - during training, they'd re-iterate that it's part of their long-term brand planning, to build a new LFA every 20-25 years.
Garismatic that's interesting, thanks for sharing that man :D
Garismatic Like a new generation or just 1 of the current one? And will it have the same engine???
How could people dislike this car, it's a piece of art and sounds like an F1. Some people say that videos doesn't do it justice, but I'm here grinning. Can't imagine hearing it in real life!
It would be impossible to keep your foot out of this car. That sound is intoxicating.
The best sounding V10 ever.
Fantastic car.. Clarkson-may-Hammond and now tim!
No way you got a key to that! Subscribed! :) Goosebumps on every kick of the pedal.
You should own a LFA car is fast and has the greatest production exhaust sound til date
the best sounding production V10 ever, will not see another such glorious sound in a production car again. Hats off to Toyota
THIS CAR IS IN-SA-NE! HOLY SHIT!
Dream Car 😍 No modern super car comes close to the looks or sound of this car IMO
It's a pity you didn't capture the exhaust sound from outside on a drive-past. That's the best sound of all from an LFA!
I was all by myself and time was short!
You should have asked me! I could have driven while you stood and filmed from the side of the road!
Still my favorite supercar! ESP Nurburgring in white 😍
Am a lil disapointed by lack of exterior filming of the exhuast noise :^/
I LOVE this sound, like a deeper sounding 4 rotor from the 787B Mazda Proto
I've been waiting for this video for long. I think that the sound that it makes, even in idle, is really astonishing and there's no match for other enhanced cars fitted with straight pipes exhaust. In the fullness of the time, most of the cars will have to be some to be better, due to the fact that we're now moving towards turbocharged engine and they don't make that pure sound like that on the LFA or the like!! I'd like to get something off my chest, if you still own your Ferrari, will you take part at the mille miglia?
I'm not sure, maybe one time I'll do the Ferrari Tribute event, time will tell.
One of the best sounding cars
They should put this engine in the Lexus LC F
19Jos88 that’s have a twin turbo V8
I think this engine costs more than an LC F! ;)
Rey Fakhar nope. The RC F has a N/A 5.0 litre V8
Ask any owner the "note and feel" of the exhaust and transmission are high on the list of best reasons to own the LFA.
tesla should put this sound system in their cars
The best digital display alongside the ones in the modern McLarens and clearly the best exhaust note alongside formula one cars.
Oh man, LFA, M5 e60 or M6 e63 and Porsche Carrera GT, three best sounding (V10) cars of all time.
Btw keep up the good work Shmee ;)
Josip Petek R8??
Daniel Mcneill Meh, those three have much higher pitch by my opinion
Please those other cars don't come close to the LFA and that's just fact.
Performance? No. Sound? Oh yes
It didn't stop him from saying this is the best car he has ever driven.
I hope our future generations wont forget about something like this naturally aspirated v10 beast, I hope they continue
Best car ever made, shmee if you ever get this car, I will make hundreds of different accounts and subscribe through them all 😂
I dont think he has the 2.8 mill these ones are going for but maybe a stock lfa
Not better than a 918 or GT2 RS 😂 I'm a Porsche fan boy so don't roast me 😂
SMohinder not in terms of performance obviously, it's the sound and driving experience that makes the LFA special.. Jeremy Clarkson said it was the greatest car he's ever driven
Abu Nation I know but I am a fanboy so I will 100% disagree 😂 To me Porsche is the best in everything 😂 I know I'm 100% wrong too 😂
SMohinder hey atleast your honest haha don't forget the Carerra GT is also one of the best pure sounding cars of all time as well
everyone hates on lexus but i personally love their cars way to go lexus!
YESSSSS!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS, THANKS TIM!
No worries, I hope you enjoy the video
It has been my dream car for years, i bet it is an unforgettable car to experience driving, especially the noise, breathtaking..
When you're driving, that sound is mesmerising
Owning one is my dream for sure!
At the 6:45 minute mark reving up, I thought he was going to lose it. Right on the edge of a full breakdown!
the best car ever.
This super car won't catch fire like all the rest!!
It has no custom exhaust
This car is music to my ears!
It's music to everyone's ears!
Man every person driving this car always has that consistant reaction about the sound. I wish i could test drive one.
For all the haters... Shmee is in the video. You can shut up now.
Haha, mixed reactions aren't there
Shmee150 👍 Keep up the good work. Long time subscriber, thanks for keeping the channel interesting.
This is not just a car. It is a monument and with the time it will become an ancient monument. It will appreciate with the time specially in electric car era. I love this car.
Best sounding v10 ever?
You haven driven so many good supercar. But you still get so excited with this LFA. It must be god damn good driving it and hearing the music coming out from the engine. 😱
Thumbs up if u think that is one of the best sound ever!
Shmee😎 This is MY car. Finally
When u get a bunch of engineers in a room and ask them to make the supra better
Great video Tim your driving was a lot more aggressive here, back then! Great content. Beautiful LFA
"best sounding car"
Literally in EVERY fckin sportscar review, not just in yours...
This is the most amazing car I have ever seen. A special car.
The sound reminds me of v10 f1 engines
You keep telling us how beautiful the sound is, then continue to talk right over the beautiful sound.
can you make a 10 hours sound compilation of the LFA
Haha, sure why not!
You've definitely got it in slow shift mode, gear change is so much slower than it could be
