The marijuana issue is ridiculous when one considers the history of how federal marijuana legislation was enacted in this country and the long rivalry with the alcohol industry. Marijuana and alcohol are essentially the same and *should be treated as such*: in small amounts they're medicinal, but heavy and prolonged use/abuse has negative effects. Then there's the pharmaceutical effects regarding pain management that I'm positive BIG PHARMA is lobbying hard against. My uncle Ricky (82) began growing over ten years age when his wife, aunt Elda, got sick with cancer. He didn't care a rat's piece of cheese what the Fed's thought - he wasn't harming anyone, he was helping his wife and he wasn't going broke doing it. *edited for clarity
They're not "essentially the same". Alcohol has literally killed millions of people, and has contributed to countless other lapses in morality resulting in serious real world consequences that directly affect others. Cannabis has killed exactly zero people. Sure, you can get very intoxicated on either one, but it's not the same - so much so that it's not even comparable. It's not even comparing apples to oranges. I've never seen any solid scientific evidence of cannabis causing harm with long term use. I've seen studies that correlate cannabis use with mental disorders, but they had small sample sizes and besides - that's basicaly like saying asprin causes headaches because people that take aspirin experience headaches.... and you can guess who funded said studies. That being said, it's not illegal to drink bleach or smoke cigarettes, and it shouldn't be illegal to drink alcohol or smoke cannabis. Even if they can all kill you. Even if you would recommend people don't do it - freedom first. I agree to some extent that they should be treated the same legally. I think anyone 18 or older should be allowed to buy/sell/trade/consume either one freely without fear of prosecution. Licenses shouldn't be cost-prohibitive or arbitrarily limited in numbers, but they are. People should be free to choose to purchase alcohol or cannabis from a local producer without the need for a license, but there should be a system in place for producers to obtain one. The free market would quickly result in most people obtaining a license to ensure product safety to their customers, and if people still chose to buy a bottle of moonshine or a bag of weed from some random dude in a parking lot, that's on them, but people should be free to choose. A license to sell liquor is basically a "what if" law. What if someone sells to kids? What if someone sells tainted alcohol? Well how about we just make both of those things illegal and leave the what if laws to societies devoid of freedom.
Daily medical users of cannabis are still robbed of their second amendment rights. Even if I never traveled with them together, I would still be a prohibited possessor in my home, and defense of myself would be illegal if I used cannabis regularly, the same as opioids (my illness qualifies for either). More reform is definitely needed.
the medication you take should not effect ppl around you that is the main issue just because you want to smoke it that dose not mean you can or should be allowed
@TaskForceEntertainment2022 right so some people "medicate" with alcohol, even though of course Marijuana actually has medial uses and alcohol doesn't, what's the difference there? People who drink can certainly effect those around them, often more so then Marijuana. The only argument would potentially be the smell, but the same could be said about cigarettes. Cigarettes and alcohol are both legal and both can effect people around you and both have less (if any) medical benefits.
There’s a dispensary that’s connected to a gunshop in my city lol so I don’t get how they can still justify making it illegal to have both on you at the same time.
The only reason the government keeps it illegal is because they can't effectively tax everyone who is using it on the sly. The medical card users pay plenty of tax on it but there are millions who use it without any card because they don't want to lose their 2A rights in the commie states.
Actually medical card holders in most states pay very minimal tax. In Illinois it's like 1%, the same as on prescription drugs. It's really the only benefit of having a card anymore in states where recreational is also legal. States can and are making lots of money on taxed weed. They way to do that is to set substantial but not outrageous taxes on it. If you tax it at something ridiculous like 25-40%, people stay with the black market. At around 10%, most people won't bother with street weed and the state makes hundreds of millions a year.
Back when I had a card I didn't realize that was the case until I got to the end of a long line and then they showed me the "VIP" entrance for medical people!🤣 Really though the most reliable way for anyone to avoid lines is don't go on a Friday night or the weekends. Pick a random Tuesday afternoon.
Our forefathers drank beer daily and opioids were commonly used! The legislative branch found no need to regulate either at the time of the Constitution and Bill of Rights 1791.
They charged this dude with felony firearm possession for smelling like pot? Not even in possession of the weed? I hope they get sued after the Supreme Court gets a hold of this
In 1619 the Virginia Assembly passed legislation requiring every farmer to grow hemp. Hemp was allowed to be exchanged as legal tender in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland. Domestic production flourished until after the Civil War, when imports and other domestic materials replaced hemp for many purposes.
Hi Steve. It ceases to amaze me how criminals who actually commit crimes, including unlawful possession etc don't get convicted or they get off with no bail and serve no time, but law abiding citizens get convicted. It just boggles my mind.

1781 is when the first time marijuana and hashish was brought by the Turkish ambassador that came brought a bunch with him and many of the founding fathers also grew it on their farms and consumed it regularly as well. Even the history channel reported about this back in the late 2000’s on one of their special series.

The logic that a "criminal" isn't entitled to 2A rights would lead to including that person's right to free speech, right to vote, right to protest, right to exercise religion, etc. Because they are saying that committing a crime eliminates your rights from the Constitution.
When your society votes to make a substance legal.... you shouldn't lose constitutionally protected rights because some foreigners (FEDS are Foreigners to me and my statesman) disapprove.
Missouri repealed the prohibition of marijuana 6 months ago, and our amendment protects gun owners within the state, but not from Federal agents, so it's a grey zone mine field for someone if they want to be sure they are doing the lawful thing.
What grey zone? Federal law takes precedence over state law. Liberals can pass all the state legal MJ laws they want to entrap conservatives and take their rights from them. And I guarantee state law enforcement will arrest for violating this regardless and turn it over to the feds if they choose to do so to get a nice felony enhancement for other criminal charges.
@@bradleyrhodes2820 While I would agree, it's a small consolation to own that knowledge if you are arrested, jailed, fined and fired from your job, could lose your home, marriage and kids.

4.5 Years in prison? My friend Ralph was railroaded by the fuzz here in NY, and had a 14 Year prison sentence! *Possession of marijuana in proximity to his firearms.. But in Nazi-NY, they went above and beyond.. They took every single 'add-on' that his rifles had, added them all up, and charged separately. Unreal.. I remember 1 charge that was having a 'bayonet mount' specifically.. Absolute corruption/tyany.
The job of an FFL isn't to investigate people for their use of marijuana, their job is to see that they fill out the paperwork and have the proper ID and if they are approved let them have their paid for property. Where I live there are at least 5 or more marijuana dispensaries within 10 minutes, so yes many people locally are buying and using marijuana. I also happen to live in an area with more nudist communities than anywhere in the US, personally I think that is more weird than someone who smokes marijuana. So, morally speaking what is right and what is wrong and who has the right to tell you that your banned from participating in your constitutionally protected rights. If your bank robber, no guns for you, smoke on your own time, not a bad person, well you should own a gun as you deserve to be able to protect not only yourself but your family and your property.
I got charged in a similar instance. I went and got my medical card and the judge gave me a plea in abeyance or something like that after a year on probation charges were supposed to be dropped but now I’m to scared to carry or even go shooting it’s been years since I’ve felt lawful even though I’ve gone through all the procedures
I don't use it, but have always thought it was rather ridiculous it was banned. Haven't heard of anyone being high and shooting up their neighborhood. Snack machine, maybe. Don't carry when you're impaired -- alcohol, weed, whatever. Regardless, Daniels should be out. He didn't commit a crime using his firearm.
It isn't about that but is about increasing jail sentences of gang members. Caught with a gun and test positive for Marijuana now you have a federal beef you can plead out for another 2 to 5 in jail. At least that was part of the plan to keep black people form owning guns.
Should we not carry when tired? On the way home from a ridiculous 12 hour graveyard shift? That's similar to being drunk. Being stoned after smoking weed pales in comparison to the impairment of being drunk or merely tired. If I want to have a smoke, that shouldn't require to disarm myself and become vulnerable. With all of the government funded propaganda studies against cannabis over the last century, I'd be willing to bet money the answer is no. Or, that study is omitting key components to make it sound much worse than it is.
No. Correlation =/= causation. There have been a few biased studies that show a correlation between schizophrenia and cannabis use. Implying that cannabis caused the skitzophrenia without any articulable reasoning would be akin to suggesting that aspirin causes headaches because people that get headaches use aspirin. There has never been any sold scientific evidence to suggest that cannabis use causes schitzophrenia - at least that I've seen. And I've looked.
Schizophrenia can be triggered in someone by weed, but those people where already schizo and where going to turn anyway. Schizophrenia usually hits in you early to mid 20's and 1-2 percent of the population is going to have it whether they use cannabis or not.

Excellent excellent analysis Mr. Stephen Great video very informative I appreciate you making this video you are a blessing to all of us Pro second amendment citizens. 👍🏼💯
When you buy a firearm you have to declare that you are not an "unlawful" user of marijuana. Since Marijuana is illegal on the Federal level, if you say you aren't a user on the form, you are "lying" to the government. Until that is corrected, they will continue to arrest people. If you have a medical card, you are not an "unlawful" user on the state level but are still "unlawful" on the Federal level. If you cross a state line from a state that allows marijuana and go into another state that allows legal marijuana, you are still a "criminal" because crossing state lines falls under Federal jurisdiction / intercommerce laws.
The court has already ruled that lying on a form in order to maintain a basic right is protected speech even if you’re lying. You have no obligation to self incriminate.
Are there tests that can delineate with absolute clarity if someone is under the influence of pot at that moment as opposed to if someone got high with a fishing buddy three weeks ago. Thanks for your help.

The amount of cases this is going to affect is gonna be crazy.

Doing the lawful thing? The law itself is unlawful.

Wow, thats awfull
Each drug has a different level of intoxication and impairment. We don’t find people laying on the side of the road from an overdose on pot.
