I always say, I don't have casual sex because I don't find anything about sex to be casual. The risk of pregnancy, disease, the emotional/spiritual attachment involved are too high to be dealing with casually. Those risks don't go away in a committed relationship but I think they are better managed. I find the general public to be severely lacking in basic sexual responsibility and discipline.

I decided to be celibate and stopped dating since May 2022. I've been getting a lot of pressure from my family to "find a man". They really don't understand the challenges of dating in modern society. It's too risky and I would rather be single and safe.
One of my guy friends is 39 and has no kids. He's Puerto Rican (culture has a lot to with it) and constantly gets pressured to just have kids. They no longer care if he's married or not. Just hsve kids. He says "Im not about to have children by the wrong woman!!"

I can come confirm your mom's info. Up until August 2023 , I did medical records at a pediatric clinic. In the last year, we have seen an uptick amongst teenagers going to the ER for STIs. The ED faxes a summary of each visit to the patient's pediatrician.

As someone who had no self-respect or acknowledgement of my value, I was this girl and I know there are a lot of girls out here that deal with this/have dealt with this and I pray for this young lady. It took too long for me to realize that I had value, that my body was a temple, that fornication and sexual immorality was sinning against my own body (1 Cor 6:18) as well as God. I was molested as a child and it had a profound effect on how I viewed sexual pleasure and secrets and without doing the hard work to reflect on that trauma, I was putting myself in harm's way for a long time to feel better/good instead of honor God and my body. I pray for these girls/women..

From what I understand, hookup culture is decreasing among women. The reason? women are consuming less alcohol. Apparently alcohol consumption was the driving reason for many women to engage in hookup culture. Now that more women are choosing to remain childfree and reproduction laws for women are becoming more restrictive as well as the increase in STI's and the high rates of struggling single mothers, women now more than in the recent past are hyper aware about what and who they let enter their bodies. Not all women of course but it's growing.

I’m in my thirties and I don’t even bother to date anymore. Dated two men in the last seven years and neither one of them was a positive experience. Sometimes I think that it’s not worth it these days!

People are pushing back on starting a family, women are encouraged to have “rosters”, and casual sex has just become the norm. It is now widely accepted that having a high body count is just part of being young and “experimenting”. Musicians are promoting this to the youth.
People can do what they want at the end of the day though. I just wonder about what the generation will be like in 10-20 years time. Going through your life and just hooking up with a bunch of different people is rarely the key to fulfilment, especially for a woman.

Those scriptures you read are spiritual medicine. When we administer spiritual medicine to ourselves, we're less likely to need a doctor when we remain moral. And just think, you got people out here who don't believe the Bible is the word of God. Only our Creator can give us the right information to keep us healthy. Better than any doctor ever could. That's the best preventive care.
Watching this as I head to my PCP appointment. Trust me, there are people out there who still care about their health. I also still ask my partner for STD results, and I would want him to do the same with me.

As a black ARNP I can confirm that my AA patients are the hardest to convince to get tested for STD's and discuss birth control with, yet we have the highest rates of everything. We absolutely need to be diligent regarding our sexual and emotional health.

I remember asking a guy to go to the urgent care before we ever do anything. I went and got my test within a week and then I got ghosted. I feel like there truly is no hope for dating, even if you decide to do it safely. If a man won’t even go to the clinic to be safe I don’t even see how waiting til marriage is possible. (Something I wanted to do before I gave up on that also.)

after my ex husband, i refuse to have sex with just anybody. dare i say you gotta be my next husband in order to get this!🤣 i do have the urge but my need to trust and connect with the individual ranks higher. so i just stay to myself and not play with anybody’s time because most guys are looking for that good time immediately. also getting checked is so important. being in the moment can get you messed up so i wouldn’t recommend one night stands in this day n age. just stay safe everybody no matter what you choose to do.
