I worked as local crew for a Megadeth concert a cpl years ago. Not only did we see Dave buzzing around all day with clipboard in hand working on sorts of random stuff, but at the end of the night he thanked us all for our hard work as he was on his way to the tour bus. Def one of the hardest working and nicest rock stars I’ve had the privilege to work for 🤘🤘

Who was the worst artist you worked for?
I had the privilege to meet Dave twice, really lovely and gracious, took the time to stop and talk with me for a while.
Dave is all grown up and "old" now but most people are still judging him as an angry "younger" Dave. He's earned his role as an "elder statesman"

Agree, he does tend to still mention the Metallica thing a lot though.
But as far as I’m concerned he made his mark the day peace sells came out, those first four albums alone are enough to ensure his status. He has nothing to prove to anyone.
The younger fans that complain about Dave usually only care about what Corey Taylor thinks about anything oh yeah Corey taylor is a well respected political expert too

So glad to hear a mature Dave explaining the pitfalls of successful people who think that because their more successful at something or are more popular then you are, somehow they are a better person then you are. Dave is a person that has had a lot of demons and all that comes from the rock star lifestyle and knows from experience the consequences of such behavior and has learned from hard mistakes and can now explain on a more personal level against the self absorbed entitled musicians and people that are amongst us 🤘🏼❤️
I was a concert photographer in the 80s and 90s. I hung out with Dave handful of times including driving him around, taking him to radio interviews. He was always the nicest guy in the world. he was always very polite and let me take all the pictures that I wanted of him and the band. He was always just a regular guy. He cheated, everyone politely and professionally, and I could never say a bad thing about him.
Megadeth fan since 85... Mustaine is one of the greatest of all time....
Just saw a concert clip of him from not too long ago sticking up for a fan getting beat up by 3 or 4 security guys for no reason. Dave is cool imo 💯😎👍❗
He tried to have security pull me out because crowd surfer kept hitting me in the head. I commend that, but everything in this interview is laughable and untrue. This is the opposite of who he really is. 😅
every time i have met dave it's always a smile and a firm handshake :) dave always has a minute for the fans :)

My old band toured with megadeth on Dave’s summer metal tour called Gigantour. We were actually hand picked by Dave’s son. So we were the young guns on the tour. Dave was nothing but professional and supremely kind to us the entire tour.

Especially now. I've seen interviews where he was still moaning saying some songs on the first Metallica album were his and complaining and the interviewer asked if he got paid. He said, "Well, yeah" which clearly took the wind out of his they screwed me over narrative he had for many years. Also, he bought a winery for his kids and wife to run. That's some entitlement there.
@@Scott__C yeah if anything, his ego has grown since the 80s. I remember him clearly saying in interviews that he wanted to present the band as a band and not just his personal project. Nowadays it's pretty much his solo project with a band behind him. Their music videos even open with "Dave Mustaine presents".

@@russellspear6188 They are because he's now trying to sell me wine. He's the one who announced it publicly. An investment would be a silent monetary partner in an existing winery. I don't know any other things he does with money.

When I met him back in the '90s he was angry but he wasn't an asshole. Side note I thought it was awesome because I myself am an angry ginger to this day.
There’s a profound difference from the way someone comes across in an interview and the way he treats people on the road that work for him or the professional staff at a venue.
Outspoken? For sure. Sometimes misunderstood but also sometimes perfectly understood. That doesn’t mean he’s an awful person to regular people he interacts with in his work environment.

I've seen Megadeth twice!!!
It may seem a bit ironic of Dave, telling us to not be an asshole, but remember, a lot of what we know about Dave comes from the corporate media. Corporate media thrives on drama, real or imagined. If no drama exists, media will create it. And many times, someone who speaks the truth, as they see it, get called an asshole, by people who see things differently, and people who are trying to hide that truth.
Dave is one of my all-time favorite guitarists. The guy is no Yngwie genius but plays some incredible guitar. His leads be really eerie sounding. It's a damned shame that he was fired from Metallica. Dave is a far superior lead guitarist than Kirk Hammett. 🤘

From my understanding Dave went religious.. which is fine. He has songs in his past catalog that he will never play again because they go against his religious beliefs.
I do not share the religion thing personally.. so I would have no problem.. but I am not him, nor am I in charge of his decisions in that regard. If Megadeth are the headliners.. they kinda get to make those choices.

I have a feeling, based on what Dave said, that the superstar female artist (that came before Madonna) he was talking about was Stevie Nicks. She was the biggest female artist until Madonna came along.
I was thinking Jennifer Lopez. I've heard that she makes similar comments to people around her and looks down on pretty much everyone. That said, I'm sure there are plenty of artists that do the same these days so you can probably take your pick among them..

I think Dave hinted on Rockline a more than a couple decades ago that it was either Cher or Bette Midler. And they both still act that way.

First of all, I commented before I was even able to listen to the interview. I was merely making a joke based upon the video’s title because Dave Mustaine is widely known to complain about nearly everything.
But secondly, and more importantly, Dave is suggesting that his longevity is due to him not being an asshole. This is absurd because everyone in metal knows that Dave is an asshole. It’s why he can’t keep a steady lineup in Megadeth.

Why am I looking at this guy while listening to a Dave mustaine interview?
Says the guy who played on a festival in Brazil with Destruction, Shymphony X and other well known bands and ORDERED THE ORGANIZERS to ENFORCE That every single band get in their backstage room while Megadeth walk to the stage. I was in the Destruction backstage at the time and I saw their singer says “fuck you” to Dave.
Yeah the bands where tuning up while they were trying to play their set. Tell the whole story

Kerry King and Dave Mustaine sound like they've got beef but I know I can't make a judgment or tell you where that's coming from. People have not been happy with Kerry King's behavior. People have not been happy with Mustaine's behavior. Kerry says he can't believe anyone could be around Mustaine for five minutes. And that could all be from Kerry King playing Megadeth's first five shows and splitting? And Dave has this endless hurt from being ousted from Metallica.
But my two cents says Slayer, Metallica, and Megadeth are the Big 3 really and Anthrax are well outside of that. I'm really sorry to be saying that about Anthrax because they do have a number of good songs but I have Among the Living and if you ask me I like Stormtroopers of Death better than Anthrax so there's no way they should be a Big 4 band. If it needs to be a Big 4 type thing then I'll compromise and put Pantera in there.
