If a solo is melodic and makes you cream your pants, it's Marty. If it's frantic and makes you crap your pants, it's Dave😂

I don't know if anyone else does this, I always call out who's playing each solo whenever I listen to Megadeth with anybody

You can usually always tell (especially on this album) who does each solo simply by who does the more thrash/speed solos (Dave) vs the slower and more melodic solos (Marty).

It is very easy to tell the difference between Dave and Marty. Marty's playing is warm with finesse while Dave's playing is cold and brutal. They augment each other perfectly and need to reunite to close out Megadeth's career. Let's hope!
Now that I've heard more from the band, there is a definite fire and ice style of playing between the two, and they completely compliment each other's styles perfectly! Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed
Two more amazing songs. I can't imagine what it's like to wait so long. The first time I heard this album I started it again lol.
In the late 80s/early 90s in the USA, the Army had an ad campaign with the slogan "Be All You Can Be," with pictures and videos of stoic soldiers, non-bloody combat, etc. So In Take No Prisoners, the line, "He wanted to be all he could be, now he's nothing to no one, etc" was a riff on this. It was pretty damning for anyone who grew up then.
He's very politically driven and unwaivering in his beliefs at least 😂 and maaaan imagine...JUST IMAGINE, the first time you ever pressed play on holy wars....then no no no, you get to listen to Hangar 18....next week 😂😂 glad you're still enjoying man

The main reason you need to listen to this albums completely at once it’s because it’s so sad when you have to stop in between songs. It goes together like one musical.

Every time I hear poison was the cure, it reminds me of a Smokey and the Bandit car chase scene with is playing in the background lol its probably my fave song on the album. Well done🤘

About the lyrical themes.
Dave is super smart. And always ahead of the curve on anything he writes. Imo the best "political" albums he made, were "Endgame" and "Dystopia". Very politically charged albums (although there's a love song on one of them and just a fun tune about funny cars :D )
Best thing about his writing is, that songs from 1990, still have the same effect and meaning in 2023. 33 years after the fact.
Yeah you can tell the guy definitely has a good grasp on the English language and has a good understanding for the power behind words 💪🏻

You have nearly finished this album, just three more songs to go. You should do all three next week. One of the songs is vocal, bass and drum only. That song is 'Dawn Patrol'. It's less than 2 minutes. The other two songs are 'Lucretia' and 'Rust in Peace... Polaris'. Once you finished this album, I suggest you go back to 1986 and list to "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying". Dave and David are the same. Chris Poland was lead guitar and Gar Samuelson on drums. Both Gar and Chris played together in a Jazz Fusion band in the later 70's before joining Megadeth. Musically different but the same. A little cruder, more raw energy.
As for solos off "Rust in Peace", the players are as follows:
Holy Wars… The Punishment Due- Marty solo 1 and 2, Dave solo 3
Hangar 18- Too many to list. 11 solos. Marty plays 8 while Dave plays 3.
Take No Prisoners- Marty

The bassline is just crazy awesome. And i can't fathom how the hell did David Ellefson (their bassist) play the tune night in and night out on tours. Must've ran his forearm raw or something
