Take no prisoners is masterpiece musically and lyrically. First part lyrics are like generals or war murderers who like to send and kill people in war. Second part is a protest Dave made against war in a fun way and being sarcastic aswell. He is worried about young men who go to war and their lives are just meaningless. Very dark topic.

Definitely the best lyrics in the album. I don't really care much for lyrics or vocals when I listen to music, but these ones stuck with me ever since I listened to them. Also the title track's lyrics are pretty memorable in my opinion, especially the cadence and how they follow the riffs' rhythm.

"He once had to be all he could be
Now he's nothing to no one, nowhere to see"- This is a rather scathing reference to the US Army recruiting program whose media slogan at that time was "be all that you can be,... in the Army".

Oh damn, I didn't know that. Gives that line a bit more venom with that context, thanks for letting me know!

Yes! Finally! Someone else did this! Been a long time since I watched a video on this song. My absolute favourite in the album rhythm wise. The riffs are just insane and the energy never lets up, the pace is just off the limits! Just the solo is kind of meh in my opinion but it doesn't really take away from the song.

I honestly like Poland’s solo on this song more

@@Ae0liann I like Poland's solos in the demos quite a lot. I prefer Marty's 2nd solo in the song Rust In Peace, but the rest I prefer Poland's. Makes me wonder how Hangar 18 or Five Magics would've sounded with him.

The song is about those combat Veterans that came home disabled, missing body parts, especially those from the war in Vietnam (that was the most recent American war when this came out in 1990), and the fact that society at that time didn't seem to care about their well-being. The reference to being all you can be in the Army (a common advertisement on TV at the time) and being given a wheelchair when you come home all point to this being about disabled combat Vets.

a rally against the futility of war and the human cost to the soldiers; how we as a society wave them off to die and if they come back we ignore them and hope they take their experiences quietly to the grave...

dude, from this album, do Lucretia. Here's another huge thrash band that rivals Metallica and others (is better than Metallica (cough)) .. Check out Testament. Pick a song any song.
