When you first hit Project 4 Fortress and you hear that bassline take you into the level, you knew shit just got real. 35yrs old and my body still tenses up on reflex when I hear it. Incredible soundtrack.
Some of my earliest memories of video games, and only memories of video games and my dad intersecting, are with this game. I will likely never beat it myself, but I've seen my dad and older sister each beat it many times. I'm completely satisfied with it though because it was so fun to get wrapped up in their runs, all while listening to an amazing soundtrack. I can hear where certain parts are meant to be saxophones and guitars, and it's all held together by a sick drum machine and nasty bass guitar. When I hear the staff roll theme, it's such a blast of nostalgia. The song is so victorious and proud. It caps off the game on such a high. And then the song that plays as the credits stop rolling...beautiful. Maybe I should try to talk my dad into playing this again sometime. Things are a little more awkward nowadays between us, but it might be fun.
One of my favorite SNES soundtracks and games. It was the very first SNES game that I got for Christmas in 1991...even before I got my SNES! I still have it to this day!
Amazing game! A masterpiece by Capcom for the Super NES. Great graphics (for the time anyway), excellent level design, responsive gameplay and a BEAUTIFUL soundtrack that brings back many memories of a time that will never return. Thank you for uploading this.
My favorite side scroller ever. Funnest gameplay, great assortment of levels, freedom to choose level order (to an extent) and of course the best music.
Another thing I would say about this soundtrack is that it sounds VERY Super Nintendo. If you were around back in the 90's you just knew that only the Super Nintendo could produce these sounds and melodies.
I tjink its so amazing that what REALLY made us happy brings us back to the same place 30 something years later. That is a beautiful thing! Also my faves, Final fight series, sfa2, final fantasy sagas. AND Double Dragon series. All very cool music. Now I gotta fire my emulator up! 😂😂 ❤ u guys and Merry Christmas!!
"Welcome to Area 88." "A year ago, a ruthless army of mercenaries swept across the kingdom of Aslan and destroyed everything in their path. Guided by the arms dealers of Project 4, the mercenaries now control every area of the country except one. On a tiny piece of desert lies the last hope of the people of Aslan. There, in a small corner of Area 88, are the world's finest pilots, the U.N Squadron. For months, they have been waiting for the exact moment to begin their assault on the forces of Project 4. That moment has just arrived. Each pilot begins his tour of duty with $3000 in his flight account and an unlimited number of F-8E Crusader aircraft. As you destroy air and ground targets, money will be added to your flight account. This money can be used to purchase additional aircraft and weapon systems to help increase your chance of survival. And only the best survive." (From the Manual)
Todas las canciones especialmente el intro tienen un feeling inmejorables. Cada stage con su respecta canción era una aventura que realmente te conectaba con el juego.
A lot of this music would have fit right in on NES era Mega Man classic, and possibly some on SNES era Mega Man X as well. That is not a complaint, to be clear.
It makes sense that they sound like this. MegaMan one and two were both composed by the same people that composed this game. Manami Matsumae and takashi tateishi
I found myself humming the high-pitched part of Quartermaster Corps @13:00 and had to dig deep into my childhood to remember it was from this glorious game. Long live 8-bit music.
Forest fortress 2, seavet, boss 2, and the minks are when I knew at 6 that the stuff that got played on the radio would never be good enough ever again.
Capcom's music really did have a very signature set of instruments in the SNES era, almost all of these tracks could fit into a megaman x game and you'd never even notice.
I use the stages ( music ) to drive my big Mack on the port . You can’t tell me I’m not flying the way I maneuver with this soundtrack playing! Awesome game ! Awesome times and I’m getting a snes and this game for old time sakes ✈️✈️✈️
Era, es y será espectacular!!! Escuchar esas canciones es todo, moriré teniendo en mi mente ese juego!!! Y para que lo puedas aprender a jugar olviden poner pausa para cambiar de arma
This was my only SNES Game when in was 6 years old I was the only one kid with a sistem Cause i lived in a rural área And the Game was my Life Inbeat It 3. Years after cause the cave was very dificult
Dunno how the top comments dont talk about the minks more, its like the most capcom early mid 90s snes era soundtrack sound out of any capcom 90s soundtrack
@camschuster5947 It all goes into the future along with us as a companion bro! Buckle up and enjoy the ride into the stratosphere!! Gotta live it up! ⏳🚀 #16BitForever
Aaaah 90s 16bit SNES ERA MUSIC soooo good and sometimes the nostalgia of a simpler time, where the young generation wasnt awash with dumb shit like it is today. We were a hard working youth , doing chores to rent games, and saving all year and reading NMS to keep up to date with releases...sigh... nostalgia can hurt sometimes, and it can also feel good. But only kids of the 90s will know the magic of CAPCOM 16bit music and how it captured that decade perfectly....🤌🥰🙏🔥💯
They don't make games and soundtracks like this anymore!
Capcom tricked my dad into thinking this was some sort of Top Gun game back in the day and I’m glad they did.
That is an awesome memory!
Same
They tricked all our dads
LMAO GOOD ONE!
And it was WORLDS better than the actual “Top Gun” video game. 😎
36 years old and UN Squadron and Mega Man X are still forever the two best SNES soundtracks for me.
totally 100% agree. I'm 37 and still play both when I have down time
makes me sad that Megaman X is on spotify but no this, both games were prime childhood
Yes! Top Gear was great too!
Megaman 2 as well.
X3 🙌🏽
I use the Boss Music as a ringtone for my actual boss.

💯
Best soundtrack of any game ever. Been gaming for almost 30 years and this is it, my favourite soundtrack of all time.
And the game is top10 easily
Gunstar Heroes got better songs, but UN squadron is also great
The briefing music still gets me SO hyped
Same. It's the soundtrack that makes me still remember this game to this day.
It’s why I came here, stuck in my head former years now
I’m almost 30 and Front Line Base still gets stuck in my head from time to time.
You're not alone, friend.
Briefing for me
@@plank5797 Same!
Same... the title screen and front line base does it for me.
Briefing and enemy air force for me

I finally beat this game for the first time in 30 YEARS!! One of the best soundtracks in a video game!
Try beating it on GAMER mode (hardest difficulty, need a cheat code 2 unlock) GOOD LUCK. GODSPEED.
There's something empowering about the introduction music. It makes you feel like you're there!
The music to this game was highly underrated 👌
That Final Boss track was so fucking epic when you first heard it. I was more used to hearing Game Over 😂
Final boss in Under defeat will impact you aswell mate.
Ah yes, battleship Minks, classic
The whole OST is a masterpiece 😍
The Minks was the wall I hit as a child, lol. Took me years to finally sink that bastard.
Indeed, MINKS is the TOP BGM in the whole ost. Front Line Base & credits come in close 2nd & 3rd top best IMO

The intro music is seriously amazing.
Idk how we came across this game as children but we played it so much, this music takes me back!
My favorite side scroller ever. Funnest gameplay, great assortment of levels, freedom to choose level order (to an extent) and of course the best music.
Based on the manga and anime "Area 88"
Thanks for the heads up. Going to have to order it from my lgs
Original arcade composers:
Manami Matsumae
Takashi Tateishi (“Forest Fortress 1” track only)
SNES arrangements and original tracks:
Toshio Kajino, Mari Yamaguchi, Yasushi Ikeda
THE MINKS. BEST TRACK OF OST SOUNDTRACK. HANDS DOWN. NO DISCUSSION. so fricking epic especially the bass drop
We can't argue with you there!
Probably one of the most underrated soundtracks for gaming
the Bass line is this whole soundtrack is so damn legendary and the whole soundtrack just hypes me to another level 🌫🛫🌩
This is by far one of the greatest games that will ever be made.💯 one of the top games of my childhood!
Another thing I would say about this soundtrack is that it sounds VERY Super Nintendo. If you were around back in the 90's you just knew that only the Super Nintendo could produce these sounds and melodies.
10:52 If I had to pick just one. I used to do extra chores to rent this game when I was 5.
The Battleship Minks was my favorite level and boss. It felt really dope from the beginning to the end, soundtrack included.
Why had no one every tried to remake this or Carrier Air Wing . Its like the world forgot how to make a fun side scrolling shooter after this game.
I tjink its so amazing that what REALLY made us happy brings us back to the same place 30 something years later. That is a beautiful thing!

If anybody ever questions how music can effect your emotions please know I uncontrollably sob to this quarterly
um ok
I totally feel you. The music is beyond anything made today
Vastly underrated comment. This, Chrono Trigger and Axelay really get me going.

Forest fortress 2. And final boss. And bangers. This game will forever love rent free in my head
The melodies dude! So many interesting melodies in one game.

My first plane game when i was a child. I've done it hundred times! A masterpiece! Thanks from France
Forest fortress 2, seavet, boss 2, and the minks are when I knew at 6 that the stuff that got played on the radio would never be good enough ever again.
To this day, the most fantastical thing about the entire game is the idea that UN would ever lift a finger in any conflict ever.
Boss 1 & 2 music brings back so much stress...
Briefing is what inspired me to want to be a fighter pilot.
That's awesome!
Did it work out?
Best snes OST out there, along with Mega Man X, DK Country and Mario RPG. It's has no business being that consistently awesome.
That pause sound tho 🤩
Bruh
This is my all time favorite game! I love this game I wish I still have it
OMG. Brings back so many memories!!!
LO MAXIMO !
