Merry Christmas everyone :) The first code in DKC3 was fitting for today. BTW: One of the codes for DKC2 was first found this year, 29 years after the game released.
You guys missed a major cheat code for Wario Land Super Mario Land 3. While paused in any level, it allowed you to modify allotted lives, coins, time remaining and power-up status. Plus, you could use this cheat as many times as you wanted.
@@thend4427 Yeah, this is more common in puzzle platformers but since Lost Levels is basically an official Kaizo hack, the same idea applies: The "suicide button" is used to reset a level at the cost of life should you find yourself stuck or in an unwinnable state.
@@BeauDuplechinI just learned that this code is also often used in most Nintendo games to “Soft Reset” them, so yeah, I can see why it’s named like that.
There is also the Kirby 64 cheat that was discovered a year or two ago, it goes like this: If File 3 is at 0% and File 2 is completely empty, do this at the HAL Laboratory splash screen when starting the game up: On the controller in Slot 2, hold the L button and press C-Up, C-Up, R Button, C-Right, C-Left and Start. If done correctly, File 3 should show 100% completion.
@@eddiestockstill3786The C buttons are awkwardly mapped to the right analog stick on Wii U N64 games by default. Might be worth remapping the buttons.

The function of the code was discovered around 2023, I believe. There are speedruns where you can hear the sound because speedrunners mash buttons when bored, but it was assumed to be a bug, not a cheat. The code, by the way, is up, down, left, right on the d-pad.
I've played DK64 at all the major stages of my life (childhood, adolescence, and adulthood) and never knew about this either. When the hidden rainbow coin in Fungi Forest was discovered, I thought that that was going to be the last secret ever.
I did not know about the DK 64 code, very interesting. Gonna have to see if people have a list of all the "discounts" the Locker gives you to enter the level.
@@TastySalamanders Given that the discounted amount for the last three worlds is the full amount for each one's respective previous world, I wonder if in an earlier build for the game B. The game WILL freeze if you kill any metroids, mainly because the game's trying to drop missile refills for missiles you technically don't have. While you don't have near infinite missiles if you do pick up an expansion, I think having the max amount of them you can normally hold (pretty sure it's 255) will do just fine, heh.
Okay, the video title was so bizarre you hooked me, good job. My dude, this used to be *normal*. Every software dev did this. Games with cheat codes are what you lost when those stupid "achievements" became a thing.
@dylanzlol7293 Basically PC games that still give you access to dev console. Games that predate achievements like Quake, or with engines that predate them like Oblivion and Skyrim. Dev console is not quite the same as the codes console game devs left in their games, which were usually dev or debug tools that just got kept in to the final product. And like I said, this was normal. Almost every console game had these. It is wild people nowadays would find this to be weird trivia.
Many years after its release it was revealed that there are button combinations to activate the cheats in GoldenEye without having to earn them. They're pretty long from what I recall but you can use them to beat a level unlike the ones from the cheat menu.

Hardr - 104% hard mode Tufst - 105 % hardest mode no check points and very few dk barrels( bonus rooms aside) I think that's all the in game cheats for this Dkc 3.
There was a recent cheat code discovered in DKC2 where if you pressed X Up, Y Left, B Down, A Right you would start the level over again without losing any lives, even if you didn't beat the course the first time around. Wish I knew that one as a kid.
*Goldeneye 64* You can unlock DK mode by completing Runway on any difficulty in 5 minutes or less. This is the easier cheats to obtain, because all you have to do is get the ignition key and take off in the airplane in about 2 minutes.
The Gold and Silver code also exists in Crystal, but it's more complicated, as it involves more buttons, and holding them in specific order. Given that you also need to know the password to reset the clock (which you are not knowing without messing with the game or using external tools lol)... it's most likely a debug feature that was left in the game, especially since it's not present in Japanese versions, where the only way to reset the clock is when the game thinks clock data is invalid or corrupted and makes you set it again.
It's a bit stretched but I'm gonna throw it here, because I played it on the Switch: NieR Automata has a code that must be entered in the first boss' (Marx) arena while standing between two barrels, that lets you jump straight to Ending E. You know, the ending that prompts you to DELETE YOUR SAVE FILE in order help another player's credits sequence minigame. Usually the very last ending you're gonna see. The code is: hold R (R2/RT for other consoles) and press *up down up right left square circle triangle cross* . You need to have defeated Marx and to stand exactly between the two barrels.
The ways to unlock modes, characters and so on in Mario Sport Mix was so awful (that's require much playthrough and luck to do that) so, thankly there's a code to unlock all of them🙏
How specific is the 'DKC2 all Kremcoins' one? Is it just enter and exit the cabin, run to where the first Kritter is then double back, enter the cabin, grab the 1-up and leave, run to where the first Kritter is again, double back again, enter the cabin again and the coin will be there? Do you have to grab and break the DK Barrel on the way back to the cabin for the last time? Do you have to stomp on a rat on the first trip to where the Kritter is? Do you have to hit a rat with the DK Barrel on the way back to the cabin for the last time?
1. Enter K. Rool's cabin without touching any bananas 2. Leave out the cabin right away 3. Jump over the two bananas to the right and head over to the four barrels that have the banana bunch on top. Take note to NOT touch or kill any of the enemies along the way. 4. Grab the banana bunch and head back to the cabin. You still much avoid the enemies and the two bananas on the ground. 5. Back in the cabin, jump over the note and grab the balloon then exit without touching the note at all. 6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 7. The 75 Kremcoins will be there in the cabin.

I also love the Zelda name tricks to start on the 2nd quest or play some special songs (Totaka's song and a main theme remix) in the Link's Awakening versions.

9:35 Super Mario Kart's little driver code: press Y and A on the driver select screen to permanently shrink your driver. This will not work in all modes.
You actually don’t have to press B for the Star Fox 64 one, just move the joystick after a couple seconds. I can’t believe I didn’t know the Super Mario Kart one!
I would argue the famous Metroid passwords are not true cheat codes, as they were not intentionally programmed. The password system is really just a transcription of the game state into human-readable form that can be restored later. JUSTIN and ENGAGE just both happen to be valid passwords, though the latter really shouldn’t because it breaks the game by drastically overflowing the play time counter.
By using cheats to get all the Kremkoins or Bonus Coins, you can get to the rematches with Kaptain K. Rool and Baron K. Roolenstein before reaching their first bouts.
It's really weird. The passwords get generated based on your ID number, money and name, although the game does not tell you how. So, people in 1999 had basically no way of actually getting the correct password. Nowadays, there are generators like this one: legendarypkmn[dot]net/pass/
The time reset in Pokemon Gold & Silver wasn't as easy as you made it look; the code you had to enter was generated based on your character's name, your trainer ID, and your money on hand.
I don’t know what rock you're hiding under, but old-school games found on NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis codes aren’t a secret unless you’re 10 years old.
I love the sports mix one I remover a buddy mentioned it back in the day and it was a rumor so we tried and it was funny seeing the game just completed instantly lol
I had that moment but with Ocarina of Time. There's never any cheat codes for Zelda games so I was always skeptical of the method to get the Golden Scale early. I had my ex-best friend try it since I was watching him play it. In the fishing game as Young Link catching the biggest fish awards a Piece of Heart. As Adult Link doing the same awards the Golden Scale. It's an item that let's Link dive deeper and an upgrade to the Silver Scale. I forget the method but you must do something specific as Young Link. I told my ex-best friend what to do and both of us were so shocked when it actually worked. This made me wonder if other things I thought were bupkis were actually legit. I can confirm the Sinking Lure is real and that I have found it. As far as the Hylian Loach goes I've never caught it or even seen it yet.
the title makes it sound like Cheat Codes can just 'appear' in games out of nowhere...the devs HAVE to code a specific Cause+Effect in order for specific button inputs to trigger specific results... (then theres methods such ss GameGenie, GameShark, ActionReplay, etc...but those are more like Directly Editing the game's code to overwrite certain values, so theyre more-or-less "community-made" rather than dev-intended)
Kirby's Pinball Land has one that lets you fight all the bosses without going through each board, which is very helpful if you find getting through them hard. At the title screen, hold Right and press A + B + Select. That's literally how I beat the game, never done it legitimately lol

In the Super Mario Kart one about the effects of the permanent Poison Mushroom effect, Ive always just pressed Y and A at the same time.
0:18 I Cry Like Dixy 😢
Awwman😅🫂
DKC1 had the 50 lives cheat too, can’t remember where in the save game select you went, but it involved typing BARRAL on the game pad there.
By using cheats to get all the Kremkoins or Bonus Coins, you can get to the rematches with Kaptain K. Rool and Baron K. Roolenstein before reaching their first bouts.
For 2nd gen pokemon you need a code randomly generated by your name, currency and ID

Quick question, what exactly is the password and how do you find it?
It's really weird. The passwords get generated based on your ID number, money and name, although the game does not tell you how. So, people in 1999 had basically no way of actually getting the correct password. Nowadays, there are generators like this one: legendarypkmn[dot]net/pass/
"Secret Cheat Codes". Proceeds to include easter eggs and non secret cheat menus in Rare games.
When games were made with passion and not to sell
The time reset in Pokemon Gold & Silver wasn't as easy as you made it look; the code you had to enter was generated based on your character's name, your trainer ID, and your money on hand.
Super Punch Out's "2-player mode" should've been featured in this
The Kirby's Dream Land is told to you in-game if you beat Extra Mode
Doc Louis be like: "Can you beli-- Hold on a sec... *eats chocolate* Can you believe this?"
I forgot you could put cheat codes in in DK 64
My guess is that the Yoshi suicide code is a leftover from the earlier test version of the release
9:21 why is that so creepy.
You don’t need to press B for Star Fox 64. Just pull for a couple of seconds, and it’ll work.
9:00 Not on my copy, you don't have to press the B button. My North American copy, anyway. 🤔
How did some people not notice these?
I wonder…
The starfox 64 cheat code is actually very funny.
I- legit never knew about the cheat code in DK64.
Do you use the mic for anything in heartgold soul silver?
So the Super Mario Kart one doesn't involve a mini mushroom like the thumbnail implies, but ooh 👀
Meanwhile Yoshi spun himself to death.
the title makes it sound like Cheat Codes can just 'appear' in games out of nowhere...the devs HAVE to code a specific Cause+Effect in order for specific button inputs to trigger specific results...
(then theres methods such ss GameGenie, GameShark, ActionReplay, etc...but those are more like Directly Editing the game's code to overwrite certain values, so theyre more-or-less "community-made" rather than dev-intended)

Geo(Gohan): hey

You dont need to press "B" on the starfox menu. Just move the stick.

💀💀💀💀💀
Did the video mention what the Paragon Mode button presses are? Waiting on that screen for the amount of time shown doesn't seem to do it.
Maybe they're references or for developers
Kirby's Pinball Land has one that lets you fight all the bosses without going through each board, which is very helpful if you find getting through them hard.
At the title screen, hold Right and press A + B + Select.
That's literally how I beat the game, never done it legitimately lol
I wish that was continued with that
