Thank you for talking about this. I’ve been on 400mg of Sam-e for many years now. L-theanine in the evening. I’ve tried going off but I slip into a depression every time. Super scary but good to know that what I’m taking is working for me.
I just was tested for the MTHFR gene and I do have the defect. I just started taking methyfolate and higher doses of methylcobalamin. I take glutathione now too because I know I have detox issues. which is also part of the MTHFR thing. I am concerned about the homocysteine imbalance possibility with SAM-e as I know I have a lot of inflammation already and heart issues and liver issues too. Went off my paroxetine and wellbutrin months ago and am trying to balance things with the vitamins. I already tend to be hyper a lot of times, even when I get depressed. So I dont want to risk more of that. I may try what I'm doing for now and see maybe later if I want to try SAM-e. This was a very helpful video even 3 years after it was made. Thank you.
I took SAMe once only 200mg. It made me extremely nervous, I felt I truly understood what anxiety was for the first time. None of the amino acids, nor St. John's wort, had that effect. PQQ and B6 helps me.
Thank You from the bottom of my Heart and the Top of my Heart~ you have helped me more with this 6 demential chess game than any other MTHFR doc has ~ hard for this old broken brain~!!!
Hey Chris, i have mthfr a1298c heterozygous mutation. i took sam e just for 5 times, 200 mg over 15 days. I felt mood swings, anger and depression. My homocysteine increased. I have a very poor stress tolerance(may be comt). Last year when i took SAM e, i took it with methylated b vitamins. At that time my homocysteine did not go up and i did not get depression. I just had anxiety as side effects. Can you please guide me ? I am totally confused. I never had such depression my entire life. I always had poor stress response, anxiety and mild ocd symptoms along with low mood. Please help.
What if SAM-e is ineffective for depression? Would could we explore instead? Glycine buffer doesn’t help, as it just makes me feel more wired and anxious. It never helped for sleep and in fact gave me insomnia and also induced a panic attack at some point. Creatine, TMG, sarcosine, methylfolate, methyl b12, methyl bs, hell all methyl donors for that matter make me feel off or worse at some point. Large doses of niacin also doesn’t really help. Magnesium no help. God help us.
Maybe you are not really absorbing a lot of these minerals nutrients. Anyway start with probiotics and consider supplements after, make kefir and food high in b vitamins. (Kefir would be obv the best) but also high quality animal protein, non fort nutritional yeast, molasses. Magnesium, sodium ascorbate, vit d k2 in high quantities, zinc molybdenum methylfolate that would be the most important imo
@@HippityHopity im in a hole right now. Im taking 200 mg of 5htp. I just hate going back on the doctors pills.i have 400 mg of samie.but i never tried ltheanine
@@sandyhobo2053 sorry to hear that. L Theanine is expensive, but for me, totally worth it. I take 400mg of that each evening before bed. I tried going off just that at one rime and after a week I felt like shit for about two weeks so I decided to go back on and it took a week for me to feel the same again. Sam-e every morning too.

Wow, that's one of the videos you gotta replay a few times in order to digest and absorb all the content (at least I do ;). Great one. Thank you!

You might be an overmethylator
Glycine mechanism checked as pointed out in the video, plus B12, folate and molybdenum.
Are these what you take with Sam-e

I took dapsone and have had depression and nerve pain ever since ? I don’t know why
How dangerous is the negative feed back on methylation cycle from elevated SAH

What about 5HTP? Have you tried that?
hi did you find any solution??? How you doing ?

For a lot if people they have problems just from the bad food choices even mental problems. Try elimination diet. Eat nothing but kefir
Can it be taken with an ssri?
Talk to your doctor. Gotta be careful.
Whats better for depression, samie or 5htp?
I personally prefer Sam-ev400mg daily every morning and LTheanine at night. I’ve tried going off and ever time I go off I slip into that dark hole 😩

If you use 5-htp, try using l-tyrosine as well with it to balance our dopamine/norepinephrine.
@@bigpoppapenguin4219 thank you.

I take glycine and ears start ringing like a bell. Noooooo way
Anyone on here used Sam-e for insomnia ? I know that's not it's primary purpose, but just checking. If you have used Sam-e for insomnia did it help?
