    Bruce, thanks for your review. Since my wife's car has a graphene/ceramic coating, I apply a spray coating in the fall & once again in the spring on her car. The company boast a 1.5 year longevity. I do a thorough deep clean & decontamination each time before I spray the coating. Most of the time, I use a rinseless wash during the year (about once a week in the garage during the winter).

    Awesome showcase. I guess a fair product to compare to ADS phobic would be cancoat. Would love your review on the 2

    • @Bruces-Garage
      @Bruces-Garage  16 днів тому +2

      I think that is the best comparison. When I used CanCoat I did the “spray and wipe” method on a microfiber towel. It was super easy, worked well, and added nice gloss with good hydrophobics. However, while you can do that with PHOBIC, I chose to spray on applicator, apply, let it flash, and then level. This method adds longevity, but does lengthen application. But you can apply it in the same way as CanCoat. If comparing, we’d have to follow the same application method to be fair.

    Great review! Do you have any thoughts on application/performance on plastics and glass?

    • @Bruces-Garage
      @Bruces-Garage  15 днів тому +1

      Thank you! I did apply it to the plastics and seems to work fine. Deepened the black color a bit, but these the trim was not faded. I did not apply to glass, but you certainly can. I tend to use dedicated glass coatings, but honestly I don’t know how much of a difference there is in terms of durability. The greatest challenge with glass coatings is the friction from the wipers. The more you can minimize the use of the wipers, the longer the coating will last, but most glass coatings are simply not as durable as on the paint as they can’t truly be absorbed. But I do find glass coatings to be very beneficial from a visibility perspective.

    I’m wondering why, other than cost, I would use this product rather than any of the easy to apply coatings that are good for five years or more? The prep and application looks to be the same! All that work for half the life, and we don’t know for sure what the life really is.

    • @Bruces-Garage
      @Bruces-Garage  16 днів тому

      Great point - I failed to demonstrate that you can also apply this via a "spray on wipe off" method - although much quicker application, you lose a little longevity. I think the sweet spot is for pro detailers that want to offer a low cost option for ceramic that will last 18-24 months in real life. They can get at least 6 vehicles done out of one bottle, so it's a great option for them and the consumer. Thanks for watching and sharing your valid perspective.

    • @DShiley
      @DShiley 16 днів тому

      @@Bruces-Garage Spray on wipe off would give it a leg up on conventional coatings, but I don’t think I would want to use this product in that fashion. Any product that has the risk of high spots needs to be controlled. I can envision mist and overspray landing on a completed area or panel, and if you don’t see it right away, it is going to have a not to pretty finish. You have obviously recognized this potential problem with your cautions to spray product onto the applicator “away from car”! One thing this product tells us Bruce is the future of ceramic coatings is cheaper, easier, and more durable! It is moving into the realm of quick detainers!😀

  • @rooboy99
    @rooboy99 16 днів тому +1

    I dont see much of an application time saving with these shorter term coatings. I guess if somone was planning to polish every couple of years then this would be a decent option. But for the weekend enthusiast, theyre never going to use the whole bottle. A smaller bottle for the DIYer could be a good option

    • @Bruces-Garage
      @Bruces-Garage  16 днів тому

      Another application option is to spray on surface or MF and wipe off. Much quicker, but you do sacrifice some longevity. I agree that 90 ml is a ton for the average consumer, even with 2 cars. I think the sweet spot is a Detailer that can offer low cost of entry to customers. They can get multiple vehicles from one bottle.
      Thank you for taking the time to share your insights and watching. I really appreciate it.

      Your average sedan can be coated in 15/20 min with Phobic. It’s much quicker application than most traditional coatings imo.

  • @TomScelfo
    @TomScelfo 16 днів тому +1

    I love Armour Detail products (Hero, Amplify, Pilot, etc.) and appreciate your excellent review. However, I don’t see any benefit of applying the ceramic coating to the applicator via spray or drops. The coating process is the same. Anyone who has applied a ceramic coating knows that the prep takes longer than the application. So, other than saving money on applying this ceramic coating over most others for the initial application, why wouldn’t I apply a ceramic coating with a longer life? If I need to apply this coating every 2 years, the cost savings begins to disappear compared with long lasting ceramic coatings with a 4-6 year expected life.

    • @Bruces-Garage
      @Bruces-Garage  16 днів тому

      @@TomScelfo Thanks, Tom. Appreciate your kind words. I think if you’re an individual and comfortable with ceramic coating application, I’d apply a multi-year coating as you noted. If you’re not comfortable with the traditional method, most people would be ok to spray on a microfiber and wipe off, realizing that will get you about a year protection at most, so that’s option 2. The other use case is for detailers who want to offer a lower cost entry level coating since they can coat multiple vehicles. I know some detailers are going to do that and offer minimal paint correction - or essentially a quick one step polish and then coat. Hope this helps.

    • @Bruces-Garage
      @Bruces-Garage  11 днів тому

      Maybe. Here’s the deal. If you’re a pro, you can apply it quicker than a regular coating at a much lower cost (90 ml bottle allows you to protect at least 6 vehicles) and thus a new offering for customers. If you want the quick apply method - spray on to a microfiber and wipe on paint. That is very quick and will give you a year of protection (per ADS). So it’s a bit different than simply a spray coating.
