- Apple’s battery life keeps getting better and better… my MacBook Pro M2 lasts me 1 1/2 days of work. But to increase it even more, i use these three tips.

you can also set key brightness to 0, unless you’re in the dark you dont need it
Close apps? Only if you’re not gonna use them the same day. Restarting them will use a lot more battery than keeping them suspended for some hours.

What did you not understand in the few word that I wrote?
If you want an explanation, you should ask “why?”. As I don’t want to write so much here, go read about it or watch some videos (macmost is a good channel).
This is not iOS. Suspending applications doesn't work here.
Applications continue to run and consume RAM or even Swap.

I use a shortcut from the shortcut app to quit all apps at once
That last tip is not a good tip. Whirl it might seem counterintuitive, keeping apps in the background (with no window open) uses less battery than closing and restarting them when needed. This is macOS, not Windows, apps are designed to work this way
I know the first is on by default but I'm not sure about the second one. I don't have a Macbook yet but my dad has the M2 Air from work. Currently I have the M1 Mac mini but plan on buying an M2 Air later this year.

Instead of setting optimized battery charging, you could get Aldente which will charge your battery up to a defined threshold. Reaching this max. charging level, the power adapter is used such that your battery is not affected at all 👍🏼 Further, to avoid micro-charging, e.g. charging 79%-80% over and over again, you could set the min. level for charging to 75%. Lastly, avoid to have your MacBooks battery 90% for long time. Both will drain capacity.😊

You kind of can with certain apps, but by default you’re not able to. You’ll probably have to reopen it within seconds anyway so just keep it open

Here’s the deal - batteries don’t like to always be at the max charge
As I keep my macbook plugged in a lot, i use AlDente to set the max charge to about 60-70%
It only charges the battery to that point, after that it uses the power from the charger directly and saves the battery life.
I had mine for a year and only 40 cycles, 99% health.

Great video, i bought m3 macbook pro base version last week and my battery doesn't last for even 5 hours, for example i lost 59% battery in just 3 hours. Do you think i should replace it? I am still eligible for it. I use google chrome, slack and some softwares like analytics, clickup, jira etc.
I think battery life in macbook is very very good as compared to windows laptop...so no need of this..

Do I understand it right that if I switch on "optimize battery charge", then it's not supposed to charge beyond 80% unless I prompt it to?

I only have the MacBook Pro from 2013 late retina it doesn't have this setting
Even the M1 MacBook Air and M2 MacBook Air have incredible battery life; 18+ hours. Apple Silicon is incredible, guys.
Tip 1 buy a macbook
Close non use app will not save battery lol…especially if you will restart them later on (it will maybe save some ram but even for that point is not like we live in 2009 today pc and mac are optimise)
Yup bro but i think right at the moment only iOS is optimised for not losing battery even with background apps on.

My mac lasts a full day with 20-30% left remaining. I don’t use any of the settings in the video except optimised charging and I don’t close any apps. The point being, why people still use ‘tips’ when one can easily have their machine last 1 1/2 days. Use your devices without worry guys.
Batteries degrade over time. These practices are good for people who want to maximize the lifespan of their batteries.

I don't get how someone would want a mac for anything except editing or something (cuz like its performance is a lil better than windows laptops) but also at a MUCH higher cost which evens it out. The screen just looks so weird and all those apps cramped in at the bottom? That just looks so weird in my opinion, Windows OS is always the GOAT
so the only things against it is you dont like the dock and the screen borders
windows have always been ugly except vista and 7 era

Don't use when its pluged buy aldente set limit at 70% and activate heat protection (32°C) also don't use it when its getting under 20%
