I put a Borla Type-S cat back dual-side black tail pipe on my 2017 Silverado 5.3. I enjoy it; no drone; and gives enough sound to let people know you got something going on. I also plugged in a Rang Tech to keep the motor in V-8 at all times and this combination is the bomb. I actually had a utility worker on a road crew stop me and ask what I was running for an exhaust. In most cases, Borla has 3 levels of sound, going from low to high--Touring, S-Type, and Atak.
Borla Pro XS, my favorite all time mufflers. People complain it's too quiet. I can never understand why folks want their exhaust system to be loud, poping and crackling. The exhaust should sound smooth and deep, not poping, sloppy, clunking, or canned sounding, especially for a muscle car. You rather be heard half a mile away and let cops know your coming, or your gunning it. I choose great sound over loudness any day. And yeah it's quiet according to folks who want loud exhaust but it's not as quiet as you think and it's more than noticeable. My exhaust is not for everyone, it's for me too enjoy, and I love the fact there is no droning. I don't need the attention, definitely not from the cops. It's up there with the greatest mufflers.
@@zachattackcustoms the Borla Atak are great, hella aggressive and loud. It's just too much for my taste. It all comes down to preference as most things do. I like flying under the radar, step away from the crowd and not blend with everyone else.
I needed to hear that - thinking of upgrading my Grand Marquis with a dual exhaust featuring a pair of 19" Pro XS cans. I'm looking for "quiet until I stomp on it".
100% agree with you! The Borla ProXS muffler is literally the perfect muffler. I put this on my 2003 Z71 Tahoe and it really deepened the growl to that low rich tone without being overly loud. Sounds awesome at low rpm and barely noticeable at higher speeds which is what I wanted (again this is up to your own preference after all). Just a little boost to the sound without standing out too much. Not everyone wants to be loud. Truly chef's kiss.
For future reference, it's better to include some rev clips. It's not just you either. So many guys post videos like this with just clips at idle and it gives us no idea of what it sounds like when driving the vehicle. I'm not horribly worried about the sound at idle, it's the rev that matters. Just a thought anyway!
I completely agree with you and I hate I don’t have anymore clips with it. That was the only clip I got of that muffler cause I wasn’t crazy about it and it was before I started the channel. This muffler makes the tone a tiny bit deeper but does not add to the sound loudness at all. I learned my lesson and did much better videos on the Borla Atak Crate muffler. Sorry about that.
Black widow venom 250 is what you seek. Its deep and has the right loudness. Im doing a side exit and its a bit too loud in cab for that so im looking up the proXs. Great video 👍🏻
Borla XS Pro is the only good sounding borla Muffler to me the rest of the sound too loud. I like it smooth and deep three nothing sounds worse than the sound of a new loud Mustang or a Cowboys truck that Pops. If I want loud I will open the headers.
It does sound good and deep, it’s just a person preference on loudness. I do hate blaring and the the good thing about the atak is that it does still keep a deep tone.
400823 is the part number for the one I have on my 5.3 but you might want to go with a different crate muffler because you have the 6.2 (376 cu in.)The crate mufflers go by engine displacement for sound and by going with the right muffler you will have less drone. Check out Borla’s website and see which crate muffler is closest to your motor. But I don’t think it will be too far off going with the same. Just giving you all the angles.
What is the part number for this muffler? Have a 2021 GMC AT4 5.3. My last truck was a RAM and being so loud I like quiet. But factory quiet is too quiet..
Hey man, I don’t know if you respond on here but I’ve been trying to find a borla atak muffler for my truck which is a 2020 Silverado 5.3. But every website I go on says theirs will not fit
I don’t get why people dont want it quiet. It can sound good, but you want it to be quiet. If not, you just try attracting every state trooper and city policeman from all directions. It doesn’t make your car/truck sound faster.
I like a loud exhaust mainly because I grew up a Nascar fan. I have just always enjoyed a nice deep, loud, but not raspy tone. Now most teenagers want the loud raspy sound. I have had a loud muffler on every truck I have ever had and I have never had a ticket in my life.

The sound is not bad but it’s hard to beat the borla atak IMO.

ProXS is Borla's quiet muffler I believe, next step up and it's the XR-1/S-Type, and after that is the ATAK I believe.

Good deal, check out my video on the Atak before making a decision on the ProXS. I will definitely check out the black widow!

Thx for the video brother. I just picked up a Tb 6.2 and I need a muffler. What’s that crate muffler part of you don’t mind me asking.

@@zachattackcustoms awesome bro! Also any negatives on your ready lift?! Should I just say screw it and go 4inch from the gates ?!
No negatives so far, I would definitely go with the 4in for stance but it looks kinda weird if you don’t get bigger tires.

maybe you should call the professionals at Borla and not asking random people on UA-cam for best results…
Were you able to measure the actual case length of the borla?
No, I don’t have it anymore.
Does anybody know about weight. I am running Flowmaster's I think 40s. I was wonder if its a weight loss if so how much.
Xs pro vs xr1?

It’s technically not made for it but it works. I explain everything in this video. ua-cam.com/video/lNiiozyJekY/v-deo.htmlsi=2kohK3-FutT6Q64Y
And I have more sound clips in this video: ua-cam.com/video/gWqn39Pr9-c/v-deo.htmlsi=gZn1xp4F2DoeJqof
How is the drone on the borlas??
No drone until you do a true dual setup.
Did you keep
Your resonators ?
I did at the time but not anymore
If the proxs is too quiet then get highflow cats.
I have true dual borla ataks with an hpipe now and love it.

Its called “preference “
Do you want to sell the Pro XS?
I got rid of it a long time ago.
Try a cherry bomb M80
No differance
Loud stinks--loud exhaust destroys peoples ears . People with loud exhaust are jerks !
