One thing for you to consider: those blocks are stronger with the holes facing up and down. Turning them so the flat sides are up and down will be less sturdy and they can crack along the flat sides. That's why you always see them being used with the holes going vertically. I don't want to see you struggling with broken blocks after loading up the shelves! I am super happy you have Matt on board, always love watching your videos, keep up the great work!
@MDFishTanks @FishShopMatt - Please do an Amazon Basin biotope for PIRANHAS! There are over 20 different species of piranha growing to 20-37cm so an eight foot tank would be perfect for them. Feeding time would be next level. It's got to be done.

Use Landscape Block Adhesive to secure the blocks to one another in place of mortar. Super cheap and easy to use , just throw the tube in a caulking gun. It's always a little sketchy when people use freestanding blocks because they don't have a ton of lateral stability even though they can support a boat load of vertical weight.
@@adelinawarriner6259Being solid doesn’t bond them together and they can still be bumped out of place. The glue will adhere them together and form a single structure.
Concerning the breeze blocks, check when you buy them, which face is designed to carry the weight. Cory might have placed the blocks, the way he did because the are designed to carry weight on the face.
I have been watching your channel since the very start in your shed. Your content has only gotten better and better!! My suggestion would be to make an 8 foot rainbow fish tank. That way you can give them an upgrade and maybe get some more 😊
Seeing where you came from, and seeing where you are now is like night and day. I'm so excited for your journey going forward with Matt, and seeing what you can do in the future!
MD, just watched and when you said you were going to use the "breeze blocks" on their sides instead of how Cory used them they will not support the wood! Assuming breeze blocks are what we call cinder blocks or concrete blocks in the USA you can easily break them at the cell web. Keep in mind they are meant to be used vertically. Two of the 2x4s resting above the open cells and only one on the center web will likely be disastrous once all of the tank and water etc weight is in place! Frans Frazier
My favourite videos are the ones where you two do amazing stuff together. 2 favourite ones are the Discus black water one and African river 8ft 1000 litre, 2 hour long video. Keep on inspiring people, you’re doing it great.
Please consider large wicking pots for your houseplants. Then check the water/fert level once a week and keep them grow well and fast! I vote for large Angelfish in the 8 foot tank.
Don't ever hesitate to keep those couch conversations in! It's nice to hear the thought process and its harder to edit down trails of thought when there is another voice. *I've always wanted Geophagus Altifrons or some Clown Loachs but they would just get too big for my 40 gal tanks. Something like that would be perfect for an 8ft tank!
8' tanks are the way to tank. I have been through so many aquariums and when I got my 96"x16"x16" I was done with hunting for the next "best" glass. There is so much room for activities and the fish LOVE the swimming room.
Aw, c'mon, you guys have LOTS of help! Flo, Annet, Phil... they're always there all the time!😆The 8-footers sound awesome too, I'm really looking forward to seeing what you'll make with those! And they will allow you to indeed step up the size of fish you're keeping as well - it'd be fun putting some of those baby bristlenoses in there and seeing how huge they get in there!
Concrete blocks and lumber work just fine. There are so many other cool fish that could be in an 8-foot! Freshwater rays may as well be in a big stock tank since you want to see them from above and they don't need any depth to speak of. There are LARGE beautiful pelagic Tanganyikan cichlids. There are also smallish Tanganyikan Tropheus, which are kept in large locality-specific schools on rock reefs. There are Tanganyikan Frontosas with lovely personalities. Iridescent Tanganyikan featherfins that make giant sand-crater nests. Giant pike cichlids from South America. Big gentle Uarus. Giant Snakeheads. Jaguar cichlids from Central America. But you really may as well get into saltwater if you are going to have 8 foot tanks! As a fisheries biologist, I refuse to allow you to fill those giant tanks with parrot cichlids or severums! Whatever you choose, I will be happy as a little clam watching from home.😊
Hello from over the pond. I have been watching the channel since the shed and I am very excited to see where it goes with the addition of Matt. I love the energy you both have and share. its a great vibe!! Keep up the great work guys! Cheers!
I am always hugely impressed with Matt's fish knowledge. I can see why Maidenhead Aquatics didnt' want to let him go completely. (not to mention the great free publicity you both bring for them)
Exactly. Dude is a walking fish encyclopedia. Like when they were brainstorming about the stingray fish tank and how it would not fit into their game plan. That's experience and knowledge.
for the shallow 4x4 try fiddlercrabs of vampire crabs, they can go out of the water, if you provide that and some beachhead, that would be so lovely to see. make a mangrove like scape. with room to build tropical vineplants and thing like that.
Only place I've ever seen a freshwater ray thrive was in a massive enclosure at Moody Gardens in Galveston. They're stupid big. Like close to a meter in width. Really neat seeing the xingu river ones and realizing that the pleco has the same spots, but sad that I don't have a pond that I can safely house a ray.
Top Gear vibes with the sofa chatting and racing digital laps. Have to name the channel off the scale or s/t. Went to Blackdown Maidenhead last week, very nice!
Pleased I stumbled over your channel. Going through a rough patch and there is something calming in watching and even just listening to your videos. Unfortunately, I now need to dig out my old fluval edge and do a scape.
The rack will be so cool! I just redid my fishroom and went back to the cinder blocks and wood for half of it. I love it. I set it up by myself, which was cool and I can move things around if wanted. I like the look as well. Left it "au nautral" 😊
I can go back to remind you every video to water the plants, but you told me your wife is on that . Great to see there is so much joy still in working the gallery, it looks great

I feel like you should mirror the other side. Like move the two empty four foots to the other section and have two fours and an eight on both sides. Does that make sense? Meh, just my need for uniformity mostly lol. Very excited to see the continued progress!
I have an 8 foot x 3 foot x 2 foot tall tank and cabinet, ordered through Maidenhead Aquatics Leicester. It was interesting getting it in the house and quite a few people to move it. I want to scape it next year so I`ll be watching you guys with interest 🙂 It would be awesome to see a temperate planted tank for the smaller temperate fish, mainly as that is my plan for my tank 🙂
Since Matt came to this channel, this have became my absolute favorite. You two are so fun to watch, and I get so happy from every video. Also, I LOVE all the Top Gear-references :D
About the 6x6 or 4x4 tanks, I think a 6x4 would be nice, it would fit the size of the aisle and wouldnt be cramped. Maybe you could go for a taller version as well. Like that massive from Jeff at aqua design. Just some alternatives haha
One of my favorite scapes you guys did was the Amazon tank in the shop. And the rope fish in that were by far a highlight. Would love to see something like that. Although I know it's kind of the same issue as it is with the rays.
I feel exactly the same about rays. Absolutely love them, been drawn to them since I was a kid. I’d love to work with them, but it’s a HUGE commitment and I like heavily planted tanks and playing around with scapes so much. If I ever own a shop or public aquarium there will absolutely be rays though. ❤
I really hope you do the Severum 8ft tank! I have 3 red spotted severum in a 4ft tank with friends, they are amazing fish... great channel, got me hooked a few months ago with your vids! 👏
Absolutely love the channel and with Matt onboard it has given it a new great dynamic, Matt was great with his guest appearances but now the way you both interact it’s natural fun and informative, the sit down chat you were having about fish and what to do and where to go with ideas was podcast esque and was great, just two guys having a nice chat, all the best going forwards both deserve it, thanks for the entertainment
For the 8 ft what about a giant South American biotope tank with wild discus, wild altums, compatible cichlids, dwarf cichlids and tetras in general? Like the one that you and Matt scaped in the shop but on a bigger scale?
For the 8 foot, it would be super cool if you made an "axolotl haven", you've both made scapes for an axolotl(s) before, but I feel it'd be a really cool scape for such a large tank. Can also include reall interesting spaces for shrimp as tankmates!
Concrete blocks are a great way to make shelves. They are strong and should last forever (unless you drop one, they will break). Can't wait to see what you guys do next! The 8 foot tanks are going to be so cool.
I like the way you and Matt are discusing the welfare of the fish before you buy them. The 8 foot tanks one has got to be discus fish they would grow so big in an 8 foot and look epic 😀
I wanna start off by saying you 2 guys are doing an amazing job. I love the chemistry between you guys. You'd make aqua escapeing fun. And that's what it's about having fun. I have one suggestion if you can make a Tank set up with waterfall and mist. :)
Woohoo! Another video! Edit: MD back on the top of track board I see! I love the side saga of motorsports in these videos. So niche but it’s my niche 😊
A great companion for sevrum that has personality and looks great is savine geophagus and golden salm/green terror fish would love to see that as would my son.
if you're allowed in your area, i would suggest for an 8' tank doing a local collection tank, imagine filming you 2 out collecting local rocks, drift wood, fish, crustaceans and idk what you got around there but even collecting local aquatic plants could be cool. would get multiple videos out of it, and the content would be epic!
I know you tried it before and didn't really have much success but given the fun your having with the Malawi tank and the addition off matt to help set it up, would you maybe consider doing an 8 foot Tanganyikan planted community. Tanks big enough to get an awesome variety of fish including openwater, shellies gobies etc? A true freshwater reef tank?
This is just a suggestion----i love the channel and it might be a pain to do but, as a viewer who watches for the aesthetic and doesn't know much about specific plants/fish it would be nice to see pictures of the plants/fish you're talking about. I absolutely loved getting to see the collaboration going on about the big tank but it was kind of hard to visualize, and I think it would be quite educational as well❤

@@IndoorEcosystem agreed! it always starts with that one small tank which leads to one tank after another haha
Love the plans! You should consider doing a tunnel/ bridge between the two tanks.
You two together just bring so much joy and inspiration to my own personal hobby journey. Thank you❤
I feel like you should mirror the other side. Like move the two empty four foots to the other section and have two fours and an eight on both sides. Does that make sense? Meh, just my need for uniformity mostly lol. Very excited to see the continued progress!
I'm guilty of backseat 'scaping as well today😉
Altum angelfish for the 8-foot!!!
my favorite aquascape duo, cat shop matt and MD
Best typo ever! Lol 😹
Loving the combo of you two!! Do a Amazon puffer community tank. Full Amazon species of tetras and puffers etc
"Do the movements" 😂😂😂😂 (@06:00)
I had a pink parrot cichlid that was a tank breaker. Violent fish
About the 6x6 or 4x4 tanks, I think a 6x4 would be nice, it would fit the size of the aisle and wouldnt be cramped. Maybe you could go for a taller version as well. Like that massive from Jeff at aqua design. Just some alternatives haha
I have to say that the team up with Matt is UA-cam Gold! Entertainment value is off the roof!
i would love to see you guys do clown loaches in an 8 ft tank
I like the transition of this channel from simple aquascaping channel to a aquascaping/fish knowledge and a mini podcast 😂😂
One of my favorite scapes you guys did was the Amazon tank in the shop. And the rope fish in that were by far a highlight. Would love to see something like that. Although I know it's kind of the same issue as it is with the rays.
Think you should use the old fish water on them plants also 8ft oscar tank 😉
You guys are an ALLSTAR team!!! Love watching you brainstorm and joke around 😉
You and Fish Shop Matt are my favorite channels to watch ❤️😊
Those blocks you showed in the video are concrete cinder blocks not breeze. Breeze blocks are very soft and not designed to be structural.
The room is really coming together guys! Thanks for posting so much content so quickly!
8 ft Discus tank 🎉
Can't wait to see those tanks. 8 ft are gone be insane and the shallow sound really fun to.
just love that energy and all the projects. Can't wait to see how they shape out !
I like you to start doing alot more with the killifish range because there are some beautiful varieties of them.
The severum idea is great!
You too should do couch talk once a month on updates and talking fish and tanks. Was great to see that.
I am looking forward to seeing your new setup!!
Concrete blocks are a great way to make shelves. They are strong and should last forever (unless you drop one, they will break). Can't wait to see what you guys do next! The 8 foot tanks are going to be so cool.
Loving the new upload schedule! Can never have have enough of you guys!
Great vid! Just an idea in the 8ft you could put pike livebearer wich I think is a great fish
Sorry to all the ray lovers, but stingrays are boring, so glad you're steering clear of them... Your plans are exciting, so good luck :)
MD is pumping out content like never before! Love it!
Well done guys, your channel and yout work is amazing 👍👍
With regards to the 8ft . . . A group of XXL Bleeding heart tetra would go nice.
I’d love to see a Bichir in the 8 foot tabk as well as some Aponogeton as it would do well in the space.
Love when fishtubers support each other. Its like your favorite bands feature your favorite singers in their records😅
Loving this new setup guys keep up the great work
I like the way you and Matt are discusing the welfare of the fish before you buy them. The 8 foot tanks one has got to be discus fish they would grow so big in an 8 foot and look epic 😀
2x 8 footers will be epic!!! cannot wait!!
Jellyfish!!!! various miniature ones!
I wanna start off by saying you 2 guys are doing an amazing job. I love the chemistry between you guys. You'd make aqua escapeing fun. And that's what it's about having fun. I have one suggestion if you can make a Tank set up with waterfall and mist. :)
Maybe in the four foot cube lowboy?
Yes I really am enjoying the content so much lately honestly you and fish shop Matt are really killing it over the last few weeks
I would like more content if time wasn't wasted on just eating food. I don’t want non-aquarium vlogs.
Cheers from France !
That conversation sections was super interesting. MDxMatt podcast soon?
Woohoo! Another video!
Edit: MD back on the top of track board I see! I love the side saga of motorsports in these videos. So niche but it’s my niche 😊
A great companion for sevrum that has personality and looks great is savine geophagus and golden salm/green terror fish would love to see that as would my son.
The lounge area looks amazing surrounded by tanks! Looks dope!
if you're allowed in your area, i would suggest for an 8' tank doing a local collection tank, imagine filming you 2 out collecting local rocks, drift wood, fish, crustaceans and idk what you got around there but even collecting local aquatic plants could be cool. would get multiple videos out of it, and the content would be epic!
MD the red shoulder severm is beautiful
This is just a suggestion----i love the channel and it might be a pain to do but, as a viewer who watches for the aesthetic and doesn't know much about specific plants/fish it would be nice to see pictures of the plants/fish you're talking about. I absolutely loved getting to see the collaboration going on about the big tank but it was kind of hard to visualize, and I think it would be quite educational as well❤
