  • You don't have to be a top tier mountain bike racer to benefit from putting volume reducers (Bottomless Tokens) in your fork. In this video we'll discuss a bit of suspension theory, how your riding will benefit from volume reducers and show you how easy and simple it is to install them on your Rockshox Yari, Pike or Lyrik fork.
    If you're a beginner mountain biker or maybe you're a skilled rider but a beginner bike mechanic, do not worry! This job is easy to do and the results can be very rewarding for you on the trail!

    Thanks for this. I have been considering this for a long time but i always thought it was a bigger job than this. Going to order some tokens for my yari now

    Which one best bro trek marlin 7 or polygon xtrada 6 1 *11?

      I think there is more value in the polygon bikes. You get better components for the money.

      I’m also an affiliate with bikes online so using that link I provided to purchase a polygon bike does help support this channel. If people are not sure about what bike, I usually tell them to compare components - polygon has much higher quality name brand components on their builds compared to their counterparts because they sell direct to consumer from the manufacture instead of having to go through retail centers.

    Will this reduce max travel of front fork? I am mounting a battery on the bottom tube but it only has 3" clearance from the front tire.

      This does NOT reduce your total travel. It just increases the "spring rate" curve so as you move further into your travel it will get harder to compress. This is what normally happens but now the ramp up is earlier.

      @@MTBTrailRider if i add 4-5 of these spacers to my diamondback release 3 2018 mid size mtb and air up the front fork to 100 psi, how likely would the front tire make contact with the battery if there is 3 inch clearance ? Worst case riding condition being riding on a bumpy pathed road and maybe speed bumps

    I feel like most guys are doing this before using there damper side and that's where most the technology is

    • @MTBTrailRider
      @MTBTrailRider  2 роки тому +1

      I understand, but the volume spacers will allow you to ramp up the compression earlier. The damper can make it feel stiff and less plush. Using the volume spacers allows you to have the softer suspension early in the travel and still give you a lot more support the further you go in your travel. This doesn’t mean the damper isn’t useful, but they serve different purposes.

      @@MTBTrailRider def agree I am still searching was running 2 tokens but I think was running too much psi never used last 20 mm and was not using any damping at all so leaving 2 token gonna try run lil more closer to 28% lower psi 10 but this was at bike park speeds and jumps u can get anywhere else but was harsh on braking bumps so trying to find good balance

    It's gonna make fork use way less travel

    • @MTBTrailRider
      @MTBTrailRider  Рік тому

      It's not just about using travel. If you want to use more travel just take air out of the fork. You shouldnt use 150mm of travel when you're riding a cross country trail and hit a 2" root. The spacers don't prevent you from using your travel it just makes the fork more firm the further you get into the travel. Which is important when riding bigger drops or rougher terrain to keep your front end from dipping on you.
