That's going to help loads of people, THIS is the best type of tech video, simple and straight to the point. Wish I had these around when I started instead of winging it til I self taught myself the trickier bits. Worth mentioning the mrp ramp control cartridge too it's an amazing upgrade for volume spacer settings on the fly.
I really like the RS cassette tool cap makes it super easy, plus who doesn't have cassette lock ring tool it's like the 1st tool you should buy.
Thanks, Tommy! This is quite an intermediate video, but it's also pretty essential for a plush feeling suspension setup! 👍
Just like that!
No non-sense, straight forward instruction all from a beautiful human being in the Forest of Dean! EPIC content!
Thanks so much for the support, Ron! Glad to see you're loving the content!
Literally the vid I have been looking for this week! I wanna change the amount of volume spacers in my fork and I was like: hmmm, I am sure Gmbn tech has a vid about that.
Haha! Hope you found it useful! 👍
had no idea you had to equalize the air chambers by cycling the fork super useful thanks a lot
Very informative, this Lady knows her stuff.
Anna certainly knows her stuff! Thanks for watching! 🙌
Thanks again, Anna.
Straightforward instruction on essential home mechanicing.
No problem! - Anna :)
Thanks Anna! Just what I was getting ready to try. Easy peasy. 👍
Good luck! - Anna :)
Thanks Anna. I need to do this, but had a few questions. You’ve got me all lined out!
I'm glad i could help! - Anna :)
Five minute content is good, more please, and this type especially. Please take us through adjusting everything.
We're glad you like this length of video content! We make some videos like this, so they can be easily watched while you work on your bike. 👍
I love you Anna!
I added two bottomless tokens to my RS fork last night and enjoyed the difference it made to today's ride 🤙
That's great! Getting your suspension running prime is so key! 👍
Could you guys do more on Öhlins Rxf 36 m2 fork and Ttx2 air shock? Would love to learn more. Thank you!! Amazing content nonetheless
Great video. Just bought a new Fox Factory 36 fork and wasn't sure how to install the spacers properly. Nice easy job. Shame the proper socket tool is so outrageously expensive!
I just want those Orange Fox Team top caps...well jealous!
They’re amazing! I have one and I wish I got it sooner because I already rounded off a bit of my top cap…
Silverfish swap your dials for the orange ones if you get your fork serviced. I begged our rep to blag me a set but he said they aren’t allowed to sell them.
You'll need to get a tune-up from a participating Fox service centre, I'm afraid. - Anna :) 🧡
You can also use an adjustable spanner, as long as it’s good quality and doesn’t have play in the jaws. It’s what I use!
If you buy all the tools to service fox forks it’s really expensive! but only thing you really need is a wiper seal insertion tool. But they’re a tenner on Amazon.
You can buy a proper non chamfered top cap socket tool for less than $15 online too. No need to risk damaging your fancy fork. The official fox socket is outrageously expensive
Great video, thank you.
Cool vid, I din't know about cycling the fork at low pressure to equalise +ve and -ve air chamber pressures. If you want to make your own top cap socket though, I wouldn't use a 12-sided socket for this. The top caps are alloy (or even plastic sometimes) with really shallow hexes; soft material + lack of surface area = easy to round them off so you need to adapt a 6-sided one like the Fox one shown. 12-sided sockets are more suited to cars and stuff where fasteners are difficult to reach
I am doing that today! I would give it a clean with a rag or towel first… wouldn’t want dirt getting in there, cheers!!
Good point! - Anna :)
Must’ve read my mind as I was just ordering one for my fox 36 😮
😉😅
Thanks for information
No problem! Thanks!
Great video. That ratchet looks like something Noah would have used to bolt his ark together though, treat yourself.
😅
Thanks, just one thing do we only have a spacer on one side and not the other !
one leg (stanchion) has the air shaft and the other leg(stanchion) has the damper....dont need to add a spacer to the damper leg
@@lcc8394 thanks for clearing that one up 👍
@@mactully322 ...we put oil into the damper leg of the forks so technically that kinda is a volume spacer but we dont put ait into that leg....the oil comes in different thickness (actually weights) and is sold as w7...w10...w15....w20 ect its the thickness of the oil and how the damper work that work together to control the overall effect of the damper
I thought you're not supposed to cycle the suspension whilst the pump is attached? or is that a pump, forks specific thing...
Don't worry, it's still safe thing to do because for most forks it still wont exceed the maximum pressure treshold for the pump. It will be different story for rear shock though, because the pressure will be way much higher.
@@gryfunyt thank you my dude. I did not know that!
Will be fine on the rear,,your only cycling it to the negative air port(about one third of travel) not bottoming it out.
I had ramp installed on my yari fork I can change spacer with twist of a knob
At Suntour XCR 34 can I put spacers?it's working?
O cool
Is that cycle to equalize necessary? With every fork model? Why does the fork then work better?
Yes because you are only filling one chamber side , it only fills the other side after you cycle the fork a few times. If you fill just one side to say 80psi after you ride the bike in anger you will find the fork only has maybe 60psi post equalization. I cycle 5x at least 5x when filling a shock , basically until the pressure does not change statically after cycling, that is what you are looking for.
@@CarkeekW Ok thank you :)
DVO forks is different you pretty much need to do a lower service to add volume spacers.....Trust forks have to be sent off to tuners to add spacers.....not all forks are the same as fox or rockshox
That's frustrating, huh.
“Little bottom bracket tool”? It’s a cassette tool.
Haha, yes, you're right. It was the end of a long day and I must have needed coffee/cake. - Anna :)
@@gmbntech haha I work in a shop so I get what you mean 👍
It’s a cassette tool not a bottom bracket tool for Rockshox 🤦♂️
I know. It annoyed me when I watched it back too! D'oh! It was a long day. - Anna :)
👍👍👍😬
i´m using my key to release the air quick...
Hi! We'd suggest using a shock pump to release the pressure in your suspension. Releasing it slower is better for the suspension! 👍
I’ve known that rear shock spacers would make my bike 100% better but I’m too lazy to buy them
Why not let the whole air out just by pressing the valvenipple in?
If you let out too much air at once, it could trap some air in the negative air chamber
The air can escape too quickly and potentially damage the internals of the fork. Same with rear air shocks.
Slowly do'es it.
Didn't know that it could cause damage. Have never had an issue, but probably best to be safe.
2nd to comment lets go

Just buy Ohlins forks and then it's a 5 second job!
Install is a verb.
