It's clear to me you are someone who is deeply moved by music, and it's refreshing to see someone your age enjoying music not of your generation. I look forward to more of your explorations.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is an awesome album from the first song, and straight on through. His catalog is so deep that you’ll need to do a headlong dive into that 🐇🕳. ♥️✌🏼😎
If you're just starting with the legend that is Sir Elton John then you started at the right place of his very long career -- with his very first breakout hit.
I'm excited for you man. I was your age when I bought my first Elton single ("Philadelphia Freedom") then album ("Captain Fantastic"). Then I started backtracking his catalogue. What a great journey you're starting.
Yeah Elton has many songs like this such as Daniel, Tiny Dancer, Nikita, Candle in the Wind, Sad Songs, Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word, Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me, and more upbeat songs like, Crocodile Rock, Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, Bennie and the Jets, I'm Still Standing and Philadelphia Freedom.
@@paulqueripel3493 oops typing error there, definitely not besmerching Elton's good name, I will correct now before his lawyers get me. Thanks for pointing out my outrageous mistake.
Welcome down the rabbit hole, and it's a deep one! He has so many brilliant songs, of almost every type you will be astonished as you wind your way through his vast catalogue! Enjoy the journey!!
Elton is as a diverse performer as there is. He can do rock& roll bangers, ballads like the one you just reacted to and so many in between. If you ever watched the original Lion King movie, Elton sang the songs that Bernie created the lyrics to. Just listen to Crocodile Rock , Someone Saved My Life Tonight, and Funeral for a Friend/Loves Lies Bleeding and Levon. You will get the sense how different his music was across his career.
"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" is the first one I think of, but it is a double album and without one bad song; I'll be here for it. Or you could start near the beginning with his "Madman Across the Water" album and move thru their progression. His music changed a lot, but was always great. Looking forward to any Elton John, though!
With Elton, you will get plenty of piano. But... you go crazy for a killer guitar solo too. So, you MUST do "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" especially for 'Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding' Trust me.
Madman Across the Water is a great album! Especially three cuts - Tiny Dancer, Levon and the title cut, Madman Across the Water. Also, from Honky Chateau - Rocket Man is a great cut...just some of my favorites!
Bernie Taupin writes the lyrics. And then separately Elton puts them to music. What’s astonishing is that some of the lyrics (more poems) are such that no one else could make a song out of them. Here’s an example. One of my favorite Elton songs is Levon. Read the lyrics and then listen to one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Elton is a great pianist and has a huge catalog worth checking out. Another great pianist who is a prolific successful song writer is Billy Joel. He wrote one of the best songs about the war in Vietnam ever written, the video of Goodnight Saigon will bring you to tears...beautiful must see video.
This album 'Elton John' is generally similar to Your Song piano and orchestration. 'Madman Across the Water' is an extension but is more powerful sound wise and 'Goodbye Yellowbrick Road' is his magnum opus, with more rock type tracks. I'd start with these 3 and see how you feel about continuing. Always loved every song 50 years on.
You are so warm inside like I was when I heard this song for the first time a long long time ago in a galaxy faraway.....no no this is another story!!!
He has a lot of different styles of music from ballads like Your Song to some rockers. He's definitely worth doing a deep dive into. So many great songs.
Oh boy,,, you've just unlocked a 60-year catalog. You're in for a treat. Sir Elton's style varies throughout the years but the quality lyrics and piano are always present. As others have mentioned, you can't go wrong with Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.
Subscribed in anticipation of your reaction to more Elton. He’s 76 and released a single with Dua Lipa which went #1 around the world and #8 on Billboard called Cold Heart mixed by Australian duo PNAU and contained lyrics from his songs “Sacrifice”, “Rocket Man”, “Kiss the Bride” and “Where’s the Shoorah?” which gave him the record of being the first artist to have a top ten single in 6 different decades. Last year he released “Hold Me Closer” with lyrics taken from “Tiny Dancer”, “The One” and Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” with Britney Spears which went #1 on Billboard. His last album released was “The Lockdown Sessions” in 2021 which featured “Cold Heart” but featured new songs with artists like Nicki Minaj and Young Thug, Charlie Puth, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Nicks, Surfaces and others. Incidentally, in the 70s about 4-5% of worldwide music sold was a single or album by Elton John. And yes, you’re right Aloe Blacc did use the line “And you can tell everybody” in his song “The Man.”
Sir Elton John was asked to play at Princess Diana's funeral. There was a tribute song to Marilyn Monroe called "Candle in the Wind". He changed the lyrics to "Goodbye England's Rose " for Diana's funeral.
My favorite EFJ albums are "Caribou", "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only The Piano Player", "Madman Across The Water", and "Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy". That's just a few of them. You are in for a Really Deep Dive, my friend! "Funeral For A Friend" from Yellow Brick Road should perhaps be your next song of his.
Hi Silas, new subscriber here from Nova Scotia, Canada. I agree with so many others about the "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album. P.S: You'll love the song "Tiny Dancer" from the album "Madman Across The Water"!
"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" gets my vote for album, but "Madman Across the Water" is my fav. ❤ He is all over, no genre type for Sir Elton. EnJoy Silas, looking forward to this!! ❤🥳
This song, being a slower ballad-like production, was a major game changer when it hit the radio in the early seventies. Slow music was struggling under the heavier rock music that had been blasting the charts from the mid-sixties to then. Taupin’s lyrics and EJ’s music scores hit the public with such a simple love song, that it helped bring in many, many tender, mellow, easy listening songs, which defined the seventies.
Oh Silas, this song is so good- Goodbay yellow brick road is a great album, amazing. Cocodrile rock is so funny, but Daniel, and Sorry seems to be, are beautifuls. Elton is one of my favorits singer and musician
He is one of the first artists I listened to as a child this was the first song on my parents tape as it happens,. So Sir Elton John was in Liverpool a few weeks ago doing his farewell tour. His piano skills both playing and composing are increadible, his style does vary there are more swing tunes, ballads rock, rock and roll, he has dueted and collaberated with many famous artists. He did a memorable episode of the Muppet Show. he has made film appearances and had a film made about his life.
You should listen to his song "Friends." It was my class song in '72. It holds more meaning now than it did back then. It is a short song not played much, but it is on par with "Your Song."
Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting) is a good one from Sir Elton John. He is a rabbit hole worth exploring for sure. So many different sounds from him.
Yellow Brick Road was the first album I ever bought. This is one of his most quiet and sweet songs. He has several that are more rockers. I am feeling really old right now. When you said that you have never really listened to Elton. I have trouble imagining a world without his music in it. This was the soundtrack of my youth. Play this one for your girlfriend and tell her it is her song now and she will love you forever.
So tough to pick an album. If I had to pick one, I'd say Captain Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboy, It was the first album ever to enter the charts at #1. Elton's drummer, Nigel Olsson is incredible on it.
I was lucky to see him live in 1992. Queen's Freddie Mercury just passed 4 month before and Elton's tribute to him was playing "The Show Must Go On". which was phenomenal and very touching.
I saw him last week in London on his farewell tour, 20,000 packed into the O2 Arena. He was awesome live, was my first and sadly the last time seeing him live. check out the yellow brick road album. his most recent hit was a duet with Dua Lipa, Cold Heart. check that one too.
Awesome reaction - it's wonderful to see just how much the music and lyrics clearly resonates inside your soul. That is a wonderful feeling and experience which makes music such a universal language. I saw Elton John live in London about 8 years ago. He was absolutely amazing. He can still knock his songs out live to a level that is so close to the original recording it's insane.
Wow, where to start - hard one for several reasons . There are songs I think you need to hear right out of the starting gate. But, start with Elton's early years. That is a must . Those are the years you need to listen to, they are phenomenal. Empty Sky, Elton John, Honky Chateau, Madman Across the Water , Tumbleweed Connection, each it's own masterpiece. Many will suggest Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - a brilliant LP as well. Can't go wrong with Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. If I were you, I would delve into the genius of Elton John and Bernie Taupin - early years first, you'll understand why as you take this amazing journey. ✌❤
Elton is a world treasure. As far as albums go, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is a masterpiece but it's a two album set so it will take a bit of time to get through. Madman Across The Water is a single album with three of his greatest songs of which Tiny Dancer is an ultimate must hear. Elton is a master of the piano; I know you'll be able to appreciate his talent and artistry. Can't wait to have you dive into his rabbit hole, you'll get lost.
Worth listening to the whole album. Many people only know his more pop songs, but if you check out his early albums you’ll find he was so much more than that. Recently he has collaborated with Dua Lipa and Britany Spears who incorporated his songs Rocket Man and Tiny Dancer into their songs. Elton had a song writing partner who wrote lyrics for him. Elton felt he couldn’t write lyrics.
Hey guy, I'm just an random French guy who just discovered you and your sensitiveness after having listen this amazing song of Elton maybe 10times this night, I'm a classical piano player too, and I was crying sharing your emotion watching you and listening to it again (I think it's enough for tonight ;) I'm (a bit;) ) older than you, but I can tell you than I felt deep hope for your generation able to feel free to share your feelings on your channel about such music and lyrics, thank you for that, just subscribed, maybe I would be able to give you advice to a French very deep a powerful female artist who changed and maybe saved my life soon. Love, respect & tolerance ;) that's all we need
You should listen to Goodbye Yellow Brick road, Rocketman, Dont Let the Sun go down on me, Someone Saved my life tonight next! These songs are life changing. You need to check out the band Chicago too! Music was the best in the 60s and 70s 😊❤
Just subscribed to your channel. As an old guy who has known these songs my whole life, it is so awesome to see someone so young experience the many great songs from the past. It is my belief that the music of today cannot hold a candle to these masterpieces. Just my opinion. But I really enjoy watching you experience great music of my past for the first time. Carry on my friend. You've only scratched the surface. Cheers!
Elton John, Tumbleweed Connection and Madman Across the Water his first three albums were unique for their time and well worth checking out. There were many hits after those albums but for me those three were an incredible introduction.
Elton John wrote a lot of the soundtracks for Disney movies so you probably have heard more Elton John than you think. One of my personal Elton John favorites is a dual song called, "Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" but there are SO many hits that are fantastic by him. It's a very deep rabbit hole.
Early Elton is my favorite - true legend in every sense, This song and Heroes by Bowie are not songs I play in public because they bring out the sad, Both are fantastic
Your best starting point based on variety and quality is "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" (1973), but everything from 1970-1976 is excellent, top notch and fantastic. He also had many good and some great albums through the decades since.
The album called Tumbleweed Connection is a great album to start with from Elton John but having said that, many of his albums from the 1970's are really great albums and most are well worth an album review. Being a huge Elton John fan and personally owning all of his albums from the 70's, I can tell you that his music is beyond great and it is hard to go wrong with his great music! Dive Deep, you will be glad you did!😊
Another GREAT one is "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues"...and "The One." Haunting song about a father and son (son dying of AIDS) is "The Last Song."
Start with this album from 1970 and listen to "I Need You To Turn To", "Sixty Years On", "The Boarder Song" but most of all, "The Greatest Discovery". Then move on to the album "Goodbye Yellow-Brick Road" and do all of it, if possible. Elton's impact on music is profound; He's a true artist. You are going to enjoy the journey with Elton! Thanks for doing this one.
Love Elton John. Listen to the Tumbleweed Connection Album. Some great songs on there such as Amoreena and Come Down in Time! Really enjoyed his musical partnership with Bernie Taupin!
Piano player. Great voice. Had a great writer. He was a monster in the 70's. Few equals in number of great songs. Just about impossible to recommend what else of his to listen to next. I have a dozen or more favorites, and only a few may overlap favorites of other fans. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is my fave song, although a tough call. The story is timeless.
One of his first and best - up there with his top 6. For me anyway. This came out right after my parents got divorced. 😟 I was about 11. It reminds me of being with my Dad and little brother. He is an absolute brilliant pianist. SO, To answer your question: Listen to “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. No way in hell you won’t like it. It’s that good.
Probably the Best Entertainer of all time. Yellow Brick Road album is tops but, all his works are terrific. Do yourself a favor and listen to all his works.
“Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” gets my vote for next. But “Don’t Shoot Me I’m Just The Piano Player” is a personal favorite because I listened to the 8-track dozens of times as a child.
Love that album, too! "There's a fly in the window, a dog in the yard, and a year since I saw you..." Ir's a shame that album doesn't get more attention.
You can never (ever) go wrong with Elton. I would suggest covering his discography in the order they were released. Starting with the Elton John album (BTW, his very first album is called "Empty Sky"), but most people are not aware of this album. If you wanted to cover a song from that album I'd recommend: Skyline Pigeon. Anyway, you'll get a much better perspective of his music going in chronological order - at least through the 70s. BTW, I'll add a key thing that makes me absolutely LOVE Elton... the Band. His band (Nigel, Dee, Davey, and Elton) are some of the most underrated musicians ever IMHO. I can see why since Elton is such a big name and brand. (Oh, and pay attention to the background vocals, Dee, Davey, and Nigel - kick ass on them.)
Definitely the Yellow Brick Road Album was his best seller, his most iconic songs came from that album, also mad man across the water... Rock on Brother, you're doing great, love the Boston review, made me laugh on the foreplay/long time kick! I was a DJ back in the day.
IMaybe you could go along the lines of what youve been doing. Its a great way to do it. Albums in a row from when he started. him and Phil Collins...LEGENDS! thnx Silas! Keep up the awesome vids!
Back in the day, he was known as one of the only people to keep up with Led Zeppelin partying. ...it's in an old Hit Parader mag I have, I think. I have a pic with him sitting at a table with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and groupies. REM, Bernie Taupin wrote almost all of his/the lyrics!
If you enjoy piano with pop music, you should check out Bruce Hornsby's "The Way It Is." It's an incredible pop song about racism. And yes, Elton John is a god among other musicians.
It's clear to me you are someone who is deeply moved by music, and it's refreshing to see someone your age enjoying music not of your generation. I look forward to more of your explorations.
A agree he is amazing to watch.. he can let the music in…lovelovelove ❤️✌🏻🌸

My thoughts too!
If you know deep purple or led Zeppelin normaly you should know Elton John 😅😅. It's m'y generation insane good singers and insane bands. Stay safe
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is an awesome album from the first song, and straight on through. His catalog is so deep that you’ll need to do a headlong dive into that
🐇🕳. ♥️✌🏼😎
His first big hit, and my favorite song of Elton's. Short, but beautiful. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Madman Across The Water are great albums.
Check out Tiny Dancer, was used in the soundtrack for Almost Famous (the movie)
If you're just starting with the legend that is Sir Elton John then you started at the right place of his very long career -- with his very first breakout hit.
We are so lucky to have a man so gifted in music arrangement to exist in our time.
Dude "Funeral For A Friend/ Loves Lies Bleeding" is so you. It's from the "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album which is worthy of a full reaction.
I'm excited for you man. I was your age when I bought my first Elton single ("Philadelphia Freedom") then album ("Captain Fantastic"). Then I started backtracking his catalogue. What a great journey you're starting.
Omg. For sure!
BOTH MUST HEAR Classics,, Elton John "Levon" & "Daniel"
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is a masterpiece and a great album to start with.
Don't let the sun go down on me, your version with "son" has a totally different meaning!
@@paulqueripel3493 oops typing error there, definitely not besmerching Elton's good name, I will correct now before his lawyers get me. Thanks for pointing out my outrageous mistake.
Tiny Dancer....amazing tune
I grew up listening to Elton John. Such talent. Many great albums. 2 are Rock of the Westies and Brown Dirt Cowboy. Enjoy. Thanks for sharing.
And both of those entered the billboard charts at #1 which had never ever been done before.

Elton John sang Pinball Wizard in Tommy the movie, It's also a little longer with another verse.

Love the 70s Elton

Yes, I love how passionately your are with music. It takes a very special person to have a true reaction to music. Keep up the great work 👍.
Try Tiny Dancer, equally as goose bump raising as Your Song IMO. Enjoy the trip!

There's one very good reason why he's sold 300+ million records!

Elton’s got a huge catalog of reaction-worthy songs. And he has a very loyal fanbase. (Same thing goes for Simon & Garfunkel and Steely Dan). 😊
Elton's BEST is Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding (don't separate)...on the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album
I am normally not down for sappy love songs. But once in a great while, one comes along with such beautiful poetry…..
Elton is a world treasure. As far as albums go, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is a masterpiece but it's a two album set so it will take a bit of time to get through. you said it, such a beautiful song

Elton John, Tumbleweed Connection and Madman Across the Water his first three albums were unique for their time and well worth checking out. There were many hits after those albums but for me those three were an incredible introduction.
You couldn't have picked a better introduction to Elton John - this was his first hit song in the early 1970s.
Bennie and the Jets is my favourite Elton John song !
You are a Music Explorer! You got the goods, subscribed!
Early seventies Elton was untouchable, just brilliant. Yeah gonna go with Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, his best work by far and a double album at that.
Early Elton is my favorite - true legend in every sense, This song and Heroes by Bowie are not songs I play in public because they bring out the sad, Both are fantastic
Yes, you really should check out lots of Elton John. The "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album is a good one to start with. Thanks Silas!
You are going to love Elton! Madman Across the Water is a great album!
Your best starting point based on variety and quality is "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" (1973), but everything from 1970-1976 is excellent, top notch and fantastic. He also had many good and some great albums through the decades since.
Dude...that reaction to that was precious! lol
Man he's got a million albums out there , but I would probably start with Goodbye yellow brick road ! Are maybe Captain Fantastic !?
Love Elton John. Listen to the Tumbleweed Connection Album. Some great songs on there such as Amoreena and Come Down in Time! Really enjoyed his musical partnership with Bernie Taupin!
One of the greatest love songs ever!Up there with For Crying Out Loud by Meatloaf.
You should do some reaction on Billy Joel songs too!!!
One of his first and best - up there with his top 6. For me anyway. This came out right after my parents got divorced. 😟
I was about 11.
Calypso by John Denver
Bob Seger's "Night Moves" will definitely have you out of your chair, fyi!
@@k_salter EXACTLY! Blues for Baby and Me! Have Mercy on the Criminal! Texas Love Song! The whole darn thing.
Yes this is a good representation of Elton’s sound
Honky Chateau is a good one Also he worked with T Rex
Do either Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy or Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Both are fire. As usual, great reaction Silas....stay the course
Roy Clark yesterday when I was Young
REM was great, but didn't write ANY lyrics for Elton.
@@marilynholt3775 rem means remember unless you're being facetious...accident caps
ELTON JOHN, " YOUR SONG ". more.. album's "MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER", "HONKY CHATEAU", "YELLOW BRICK ROAD".
"Sixty Years On" 🥳
You definitely need to watch the movie Rocketman. It's the story of Elton from a child through his first 15 years in the music industry.
If you enjoy piano with pop music, you should check out Bruce Hornsby's "The Way It Is." It's an incredible pop song about racism.
And yes, Elton John is a god among other musicians.
