14:28 the Model 3 is more efficient than the Model Y so it gets more miles per hour of charging than the Model Y at the same kW charge power. Tesla wall connector owners manual has a chart showing the MPH charge rate for each model per amp setting. If you plugged a Tesla Semi into your charger, it would get much less miles per hour. I hope that makes sense the way I explained it.
SR+ has enough range if you have kids. We have to make stops every few hours for them. As long as it takes them to get out and use the restroom the car is almost fully charged.
Is it a 2021? How's the supercharger charging rate with it? Will it get to to 150kwh charging at some points? Do you happen to know how long it takes to get from 20-80% at a supercharger?
@@danielcdeyoung it’s been a while since we have gone on a long road trip. I think it takes about 30 mins to charge from 20 to 80%. I think I get pretty close to 150kwh at supercharges. There's no option to heat the steering wheel, because it still is on the old software version. Once it eventually downloads the new version (the one that has the slightly different UI), the option will be there.

You can use voice control for heated steering wheel or access it through the AC controls. All the way to the left where you control the heated seats. Can also be turned on with the app.
Regarding the different charging speeds it is all about the efficiency between the Model 3 SR+ (142 MPGe) and Model Y LR (125 MPGe). So you have the same on-board AC charger 110v or 220v in the US so you are getting the exact same kW of power, but to calculate added miles per hours you have to multiply with the MPGe giving the SR+ about 14% higher miles per hour on a home charger. I believe that a smaller lighter battery has less resistance when pushing electrons so it is able to push at a faster rate than your larger battery in the Y. I am a Tesla share holder and love Teslas. However, Tesla over exaggerated their range claim. For example, a model 3 SR+ with a claimed 263 mile range would realistically cover about 220 miles. I wish Tesla’s range claim would reflect real world range.
You can get that range no problem but you have to drive the speed that warrants that range just like a gas powered car. The tough part is charging takes so long so you don’t run the battery down so much
@@Gjeebs I think to get the range advertised, you would have to drive at 55 mph under ideal conditions without using heat or AC. In my area if you drive 55 mph on the highway, you’ll get run over. The charging speed in miles per hour os considering the tesla's efficiency. Since you are comparing Nick's Model 3 charging speed to your Model Y charging speed, Nick's will have a higher mph since his will get more miles per KW. If you measure the speed in KPH they will be the same.
The Standard model plus is rear wheel drive only. The long range is all wheel drive and dual motors ..so the power is very noticeable at take off and low speeds and at cruising speeds and it's very noticeable
I’m in Phoenix and considering a Model 3 SR+ as well. I have a question about the glass roof. Does it do a good job keeping the heat out? The Phoenix sun is so intense I worry about there not being a covering.
It's most convenient to think of charging speeds in distance per hour, but it's a mistake to confuse this with actual energy transfer and this is becoming more common as EV drivers begin to think of charging in distances. MPH/KPH is a great way to compare different *cars* on the same charger and even to compare different *chargers* on the same car, but it's not an energy metric and should not be used as such.
@Gjeebs my 2021 M3 LR says it has the latest update, but doesn’t have the boombox nor the latest UI. I looked it up. Apparently, newer Teslas don’t get the latest update to prevent the whole fleet from have the same update = same software bugs. My service app couldn’t help with that either!
Can someone explain the meaning of heat pump? I mean don’t all cars have heat pump? Are we talking about a heater for heating up the inside at winter time? Sorry for stupid question but it seams weird if all cars don’t come with heat pump. In that case from what year did they get it in m3? If I buy an earlier year without, can one upgrade to the new pump later?
Bought this same M3 last year and ended up selling. Wasn’t impressed with battery life/range. I live in north Texas where it’s pretty flat and I would only get 160-170 miles tops on full charge. Other than that the car was awesome. Would recommend getting the long range model or performance.
I live in Vegas which has quite a bit of uphill driving and I can do over 200 in my SR. So many things come into play on range that it’s hard to pin point an exact number. Although I love my SR if you have the coin for the LR that’s the route I’d go. To me the SR great for average driving and moderate road trips. If you drive it for work or are constantly driving out of town it may not be the option for you
I also love the way it looks, def what I'll be doing when I buy my Tesla. I think its a way better option then having to buy new 20inch wheels that will end up with more maintenance long term + less range.

@@GjeebsFulll reflective cover and leave all windows down about 2 or 3" underneath
I just got my 2021 long range and I love it. I don’t have a charger option yet but moving soon. Is supercharging it a few times a week bad?
Just don’t charge it to 100% and you will be fine
How much was it to get the wheels powdercoated?? They look great!
Based on my own research in my area, it usually depends on the size of the wheel. But I’ve been quoted at about $100 per wheel.
Having that trunk mat is nice, the charging hardware case’s Velcro messed up my carpeted mat.
You can buy the new center console for your model Y! Not terribly expensive and quite worth it in my opinion!
Where do you buy it from?
Are the wheels coated satin black color?
Space grey
I thought I read somewhere that they switched batteries on the SD from Lithium Ion to LFP
They are LFP now. This one is not
At my home charging with my Bosch charger, my wife’ s Model 3 got 28 mph and my Model Y got 25. The Model 3 is more efficient than the Model Y.
Heated steering wheel option should be under the rear seats heat tab
The SR+ doesn't have it
Wow there is a speaker under the screen! That’s new.
What is the 25% off
????
Do you ever have a problem with clothes colors bleeding into the white seats?
Not yet
Can someone explain the meaning of heat pump?
I mean don’t all cars have heat pump? Are we talking about a heater for heating up the inside at winter time?
Sorry for stupid question but it seams weird if all cars don’t come with heat pump. In that case from what year did they get it in m3?
If I buy an earlier year without, can one upgrade to the new pump later?
Looking to order model x by the end of this year
Nice! The refreshed version looks amazing
Bought this same M3 last year and ended up selling. Wasn’t impressed with battery life/range. I live in north Texas where it’s pretty flat and I would only get 160-170 miles tops on full charge. Other than that the car was awesome. Would recommend getting the long range model or performance.
Agree. Long range is the one to get
I live in Vegas which has quite a bit of uphill driving and I can do over 200 in my SR. So many things come into play on range that it’s hard to pin point an exact number. Although I love my SR if you have the coin for the LR that’s the route I’d go. To me the SR great for average driving and moderate road trips. If you drive it for work or are constantly driving out of town it may not be the option for you
Doesn't the LR also have premium stereo? is that worth it?
No tesla logo on the front ?
And where did you get the trunk rubber mat?
The powder coat looks great. I’ve thought about doing it for my 19’s. Did he tell you how much it was?
I also love the way it looks, def what I'll be doing when I buy my Tesla. I think its a way better option then having to buy new 20inch wheels that will end up with more maintenance long term + less range.
Agree. Thats like a gun metal color right?
Nice vid! Very informative! Have you noticed if the cabin noice is lower inside then M3? We here in northen europe still waiting to see and testdrive a Model Y. greetings from Sweden.
What/where do I get the 25% off
I'm in the Phoenix area also and looking to get a SR+ Model 3. Is the audio system the same and does it have the same number of speakers as the LR?
Not the same
Where to buy the silver pedals
Hi! wondering if you could share the link/brand for those great floor mats off Amazon? My Model 3 is en route
amzn.to/3goLbVU
Hi Gjeebs do you live in a hot climate? And if so, does that glass window heat you up in the summer? Thanks
I am 6’2 240lbs. Will I be comfortable driving it.
Where are the mats from ? Can you provide a link ?
