I'm coming up on my 1 year anniversary getting my Model 3 Performance. I picked it up the weekend before lockdown started last March. It still blows me away when I floor it from a stop or a roll. It's stupid fast. Just instant, silent, wide-eyed acceleration. It presses your stomach into your spine. I love it, I hope you get the opportunity to drive one soon!
I have the SR+ and originally I had range anxiety. What I found after a month and getting a 240v 40amp circuit put in, anxiety all went away. Now I never even think about it. I have only gone on one trip but even in the dead of winter I had no issues and handling in the snow was completely fine.
it's amazing to see how easy they can update the software over the air, just amazing, feels like the future (or like the first iPhone back in the days)
Better to by the LR, software updates are available but you cannot update range. You will never get the 263 miles on the sr+ and only can charge to 90%
@@ImJamila I turn sentry off at home i noticed it drains the battery. How many mikes/km you drive day? I live in hot area and the bettery been good so far.
I been thinking about upgrading to the Long range. Reason being is I drive a lot, don’t have access to charging at home so I supercharge all the time. My standard plus states 267 miles, but now my 100% is 245 miles, I did took off the aero wheels for a nicer look. Charging above 200 miles takes forever. Very time consuming. And anything under 60 miles gives me anxiety thinking My Tesla will die soon and sentry mode won’t work. So overall I charge from 60-70 to 210 miles for the most part. That leaves me charging almost every other day with a real range of 150-170. Also speed/acceleration, while It feels fast I realize how many gas cars beat my Tesla. 0-60 in 5.8 seconds doesn’t feel so fast anymore. Cutting almost 2 seconds would make a huge difference on acceleration plus top speed is higher. Overall having a much faster Tesla and cutting the charging from 3 times a week to 2 times a week might be worth the extra money.
SR+ is what I decided on as well. While I COULD have technically handled the payments on the LR, I just felt the added benefits weren't worth the extra cost to me. I do not drive that much (10 miles/week or so on a regular basis). When I do take trips, 99% of the time they are within 100 miles (well within the range of the SR+ there and back). I don't need the extra power the AWD offers. The extra interior features like heated interior seats I don't need. The extra speakers I don't need (I don't like subwoofers anyway). I haven't received my car yet...should be in about a month. My estimated delivery date has moved a week closer since I ordered, so I tend to look at the page at least once a day.
My biggest concern between the SR+ and the long range would be battery degradation in the long term. For the short range 2-3 years I believe it to be a non issue but past 4 years, all models will lose some range for sure where the long ranges extra 90 miles will be better for the long term owners. If you are daily charging to the recommended 80%-85% capacity the range will dip below 200 miles on the SR+. Then again if you have a short daily commute this is not an issue but for those with a 100+ mile commute and live in cold winter weather states, range anxiety will for sure kick in since cold weather will cut range very quickly. Saw some reviews where extreme cold cut battery range in half.
I have been studying all things Tesla for sometime and battery degradation is not an issue I have come across in regards to Tesla. Infact a study of the earliest Model S’s showed that their battery degradation was surprisingly low. From what I can make out, its due to Tesla’s cooling system.
The main difference is the duel motor and the premium interior. The range benefit is minimal on a long trip and irrelevant on short trips. I got my SR+ as I couldn't justify paying 8k extra for the premium interior + DM. 🥳
I'm torn between SR+ and LR, but your acceleration clip made me think SR+ is plenty. I didn't realize that the acceleration was still that powerful. Subbed!
Check out Carwows new video drag racing the three versions. You'll see that the SR+ isn't as quick off the line, makes sense since single motor, but can keep up pretty well from a rolling start.

@@sleasy01 Yea the standard range is fine if you don't take many trips. My family lives 2 hours away and there are no chargers along the way. I can make it there and back on one charge. Looking at the LR moreso for the all wheel drive and better sound system. The bigger battery, although I'm not really a long distance driver, gives greater flexibility in terms of heating/cooling. Also for leaving sentry mode on. Not to mention having more time to floor it! 🤣
Similarly why I bought mine. I don't want range anxiety on my 5.5 mile commute 😂 but seriously, I want to enjoy the car, not just use it to get to work

Also, you're correct. It is insane to drive a performance model. I drove a Performance Model S for fun, and it literally felt like someone picked me up, and threw me 300 ft. ahead in the road.
I would say if one can afford it definitely go for the LR, it is AWD and has better audio system. And even if you don't use the extra range, you can set the charge percentage lower so the battery is better preserved. The larger capacity also means when supercharging the charge rate will be kept at a high level for longer which results in shorter stops. If it is replacing a petrol car one can never have too much range in an EV.
I wish I could've used a referral link, but sadly I'm in Ohio. In Ohio and Virginia, you can't take advantage of the referral program due to state law. Maybe someday I'll move out of Ohio and be able to do that.

They always say get the best you can afford and a question I asked myself before buying was "how would you feel if you were in your SR+ and someone drove by in a LR?" and that was enough for me to make my decision. In the UK it's a smaller price difference. Cats are lovely by the way 🙂
I ordered my sr+ last week and collecting next month, I drove sr+, LR and performance before deciding, I can’t justify £6,500 extra for 1 second faster 0-60 and the difference in sound system is slightly more bass and that’s it , SR+ sound system was still better than 90% of cars out there. I don’t need the range and in uk we done have crazy snow/terrain to need AWD so for me I’d rather keep the 6500 and do something else with it
@@Bembli it's honestly a healthy mix here. I think the average commute in the UK is shorter than in the states so range isn't a massive deal breaker. NO SALES TAX, 10% EZPASS DISCOUNT ON THE EV & SAVING 4K A YEAR ON GAS AND 600 ON OIL CHANGES? OH AND RANGE , RANGE AND MORE RANGE? LONG RANGE FOR ME
Whats the sound system like? It's my only concern, has me more interested in a Model Y-SR.
they share the same audio system what??
@@TheGrandLineGames it doesn't, some speakers are disabled in SR+ no sub, less immersive.
does your SR have heated steering wheel?
I would say if one can afford it definitely go for the LR, it is AWD and has better audio system. And even if you don't use the extra range, you can set the charge percentage lower so the battery is better preserved. The larger capacity also means when supercharging the charge rate will be kept at a high level for longer which results in shorter stops. If it is replacing a petrol car one can never have too much range in an EV.
I quit after skipping a minute ahead only to still be in the intro and seeing cats. Huge waste of time.
I wish I could've used a referral link, but sadly I'm in Ohio. In Ohio and Virginia, you can't take advantage of the referral program due to state law. Maybe someday I'll move out of Ohio and be able to do that.
Does it come with white wheels? The look silver on the website
I was so confused, I was like this is not a sketch monkey video 😂
Front not flush
of course you do,,, no one on the planet would ever say they like the cheap one over a better one
Tank you!!
Put a paint protective film on on it.
How tall are you ? The car looks like a toy car next to you.
Far too many adverts for a 12 min video
You are trippin about 99% don't need the extra miles. SMH
Not really. You lose range over the years and it's greatly reduced in the winter.
Upvoted for combination of Tesla and kitten content.
Are you from Scotland? I can't quite pin the accent.
Lol that's a first! No I'm from Sweden :)
should have gotten a couple year old fast version
Hi bro i speak french and i dont understand very good your vidéo so, sr+ is better than LR?
Nice! You kinda look like Neil druckmann
3:43 you shoudt charge to 100% every day, unless your SR+ has LFP battery. whitch i belive is only for china made model 3.
I don't think this is correct, both models should be charged to 100% when using home chargers.
@@GraemeTaylor well at least whit my model 3 Tesla doesn't recommend charging to 100% every day (recommended 50-80%) and I don't have LFP battery. But whit other owner how got LFP battery Tesla recommends charging to 100%
In my opinion the audio system of the SR+ sucks compared to other cars in a similar price range...
Audio quality seems to sometimes change whit some updates. In 2019 when I got my car it seemed like base was lacking and something was off. but now it sounds good so audio quality may change whit updates usually better. But to be honest my LR has better audio system from factory. so it has subwoofer and some extra speakers compared to SR (but it would need larger sub and amp sens i can't feel the base in my seat)
@@aleksisoukkala I test drove both SR+ and Performance for one hour. The speakers of the SR+ sounded terrible compared to the speakers in my VW Golf GTE. The speakers of the Performance were much better than in my GTE. I can't see myself buying a car with such bad speaker system as the SR+'s with no way to upgrading it... I hope for other competitors like Ioniq 5 and Xpeng P7 to be able to compete the Model 3 SR+
@@sharkflower123 actually there is way to upgrade SR sound system, and activate 4 additional speakers (that are in the car). but as usual whit Tesla it needs third party hardware. sens Tesla cant see opportunity to make money from official upgrades or options (like power frunk and trunk before 2021 model).
@@aleksisoukkala I would not like gambling with my factory warranty, especially not with Tesla, but yes, that is an option :-)
Don't forget you could always trade it in on a new one......lul
sorry to admit but your music makes my dizzy
I thought you wanted to feel the tactile feel of buttons and knobs over touch screens. But when it is a Tesla that suddenly doesn't matter huh. Ah well enjoy it!
That's right! Works well in the Tesla
They always say get the best you can afford and a question I asked myself before buying was "how would you feel if you were in your SR+ and someone drove by in a LR?" and that was enough for me to make my decision. In the UK it's a smaller price difference. Cats are lovely by the way 🙂
Great choice. What do they go for in the UK?
I did my own video on why I personally felt the SR+ (here at least) isn't great value for money when compared to the extras that the LR gives. If you don't need or want dual motor the SR+ is a good choice, but I feel it's too expensive compared to the LR
