@@WhichEV So instead of the glove box opening manually with a physical mechanism on the glove box, its on the control center, which is actually just as easy for the passenger to use as the driver. Alot of criticisms of having to use the computer screen to do something like turn on or adjust the wipers for example is because people haven't read the owners manual! The Tesla DOES ACCEPT VOICE COMMANDS!!!! Last time I checked there were over 90 commands available including control of the wipers!!!
We asked on an EV forum whether people used, or liked using, voice commands. Less than half of people liked or used them. You can't force people to use voice commands. Not everyone wants to. Forcing everything via voice is a failure in the interface.
Thanks. They apparently brought back auto-dimming rear view mirrors. Sun visor clips are now magnetic. Finish on the front seat controls and window switches is different. new type of gasket along the base of the rear window to better catch water runoff.
So many auto journalists and bloggers criticising this vehicle because it’s difficult to operate all the controls via the touch screen. That’s not fair because up you can use voice commands for everything and as such easier than a conventional car, you don’t need to look for a switch at all.
If you like that mode of operation. If you talk to actual people - which we do a lot on social media - they don't want to operate everything by voice. This also forces all control through the driver. What if the passenger wants to change something and it's primarily operated through the voice control? Less of an issue for a Tesla, which has an intuitive and well organised menu, but the Polestar 2's pigs ear of an interface makes this more of a problem.
@Tee Bone We wouldn't quite have said it like that, but agree with your points. Not having a wiper stalk was a step too far in minimalism, especially as the auto wiper algorithm continues to be crap on Teslas.
@Tee Bone not sure what gives you the right to talk to me in such a derogatory manner, you would not say this to me in person. I'm entitled to my opinion and am certainly not a fool, in fact I'm a very successful and well educated person.

Nice review mate, however it would be great if you could add some security features like how the blind spot monitor, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, reverse collision alert and break, how to enable 360 degree camera etc. Thanks in advance, Cheers!
We're planning a specific video on the FSD and Autopilot features of the Tesla Model 3. This video was a bit too long already! You can't enable 360 video on the Model 3 yet, though. It's a feature Musk is now promising but it hasn't materialised.
It’s funny to see what the older generation isn’t exactly thrilled with. Yet the younger generation who I would imagine Tesla is targeting would love these new updates and features. One small example being the chrome exterior delete option. Regardless very thorough review! Thank you for sharing.
So the Model 3s average customer is between 35 and 45 years old. With the majority of those cars being sold to the lesser of those two numbers. I’m simply saying features and changes that the younger of that range seem to really enjoy the higher of that range and even above don’t seem either impressed or happy with. Just my assessment.

Good point about ambient lighting! They need to take a leaf out of Mercedes book (again) in that area. Done really well in recent C-class Mercs, for example.
Yes, just heard this. We didn't have a need to charge our car because it came full and we only had it a couple of days. This definitely warrants investigation.
I do have to say i disagree with the key card issue you mentioned i have my tesla app set up and when I get close to my 2021 model 3 and press the door it automatically unlocks and locks when I walk away.
People have reported this can miraculously stop working, or the seat won't automatically adjust to the profile based on the phone. Personally, although I have this set up, I still carry the key card just in case. Just don't trust it.
Whoever gave the Tesla a lower safety rating is just spiteful. Tesla invented the autopilot technology and they have executed it very well as compared to other car manufacturers, yet someone still has the audacity to say that Tesla's autopilot is poor?
We think there might be some politics behind it, and you can read the full story here: www.whichev.net/2020/10/02/euro-ncap-launches-new-assisted-driving-rating-and-tesla-does-not-come-top/. However, having to constantly jiggle the steering wheel rather than having sensors to detect your hands are in place on the steering wheel is an issue. Someone was recently arrested for sleeping with their seat reclined while using Autopilot. That should not be possible.
@@WhichEV I want to quote unquote what NCAP says here. "According to the NCAP, even though Tesla is a pioneer of self-driving technology, its “Autopilot” system does little to keep the driver engaged. Its distinct steering strategy gives the impression that either the car is driving itself or the driver has full control, and the system is more authoritarian than cooperative". The main reason Tesla invented this technology was for the specific reason to improve driving experience and reduce driver fatigue on the road. A system that alerts the driver to keep the hands on the wheel at all times and stops when the driver has ignored all the visual and audio warnings by the car's autopilot system disproves the notion that the system is not cooperative. If NCAP had made thorough research on the Tesla's autopilot, they would have made it a benchmark of automotive safety for all other manufacturers.
@@Lesiba2 We agree it's a bit ridiculous. But Autopilot does have its flaws. We've been having a parallel conversation on Twitter with a Tesla owner who won't use Autopilot at all due to the phantom braking issue nearly causing an accident on multiple occasions.

You should have a serious word with your video editor, Sir. The audio levels are all over the place and worse still the audio seems to change randomly between the camera mic and your wireless lapel mic. Someone has forgotten to mute and activate the right audio channels. Very sloppy audio work.
We know about this. In fact, the lapel mic stopped recording early on in the shoot and yet was still coming out clearly on the camcorder headphones so we didn't realise. We had to give the car back straight after shooting the video so couldn't re-do it and had to find some way to fix the audio. We either had to drop the video entirely or find a way to make use of what we had. Considering the number of views we've had on this video and the healthy effect it has had on our subscriber base, going with the very imperfect end result was the right decision! We're using a different setup now to avoid this happening in the future.
People simply don’t understand that Tesla don’t have gimmicks outside the software. If you like different coloured lights or daft led patterns then buy a German car. If you want good tech that drives fast and does everything you’d expect well and for 10% of the cost then buy a Tesla. It’s a no brainer unless you don’t have one.

2:04 "Three times more efficient than an electrical heating element"? Incorrect. A resistive heating element is near as dammit 100% efficient as all electricity used is converted to heat. Where the heatpump wins is that it is moving heat that already exists (either outside or from the cooling fluid from the motors and battery) into the cabin. 2:27 You can pair the phone to the car. No. The middle seat in an E-class Mercedes is much wider and more viable. Indeed, the middle seat in a Tesla Model S or 5-seat Model X is more viable too.
«A system shamelessly stolen from Mercedes». For example, the 2001 BMW 7 Series introduced the gear selector on the stalk much earlier before Mercedes did
Sure, but the Model S literally used the Mercedes part at the beginning, then moved to Tesla's in-house version later on. We're not saying Mercedes has some patent on it, just that historically it was a Mercedes system from when Mercedes was collaborating with Tesla early on.
Are all the windows double glazed? How many other EV manufacturers go to that level of detail? Are Tesla the only EV manufacturer with double glazing? Does the extra glass add weight? Is this going to cost a fortune if someone breaks a window on your car to steal something from the seat?
We think it's only the front ones. We don't know of any other manufacturer doing it. No idea about the cost. Probably pricey and Tesla-only to repair though.
Yes it is only the side windows at the front that are double glazed. It is to help cut down road noise. A few other manufacturers have started doing the same thing.
Weirdest review I've seen yet :p 1: Bluetooth is the standard key, the card is secondary. 2. The memory function of the seat is not complicated, it's done by itself by using your phone to unlock it so that the car knows who is driving 3. It's not hard to press the "glove box" button. 4: Whats up with the audio :D
Yeah, but when Tesla loans you a car for review, you can't use the smartphone as a key. They don't give you access to it on a Tesla account or smartphone. Plus, anecdotally from groups, if more than one person uses a car, they often DON'T both use the smartphone as key. It can be problematic when both phones are in the car.
Its not an ipad. Its a modern interface for a 21st century car. Much cleaner that the mess most manufacturers foist upon us. Its not hard to use. 20 mins and u soon get used to it......just like any new car.
@@WhichEV took me a while to get used to it and I understand the concerns but it's the same with any revolutionary technology. Lots of people prefer push button mobiles as the battery lasts ages and easier to use. Not nearly as useful as smart phones and quickly date though. I do agree that it can take some getting used to. That's where voice commands help a little. Evs themselves though are a whole new way of working. Also remember the long term aim is autonomy. That screen makes more sense when the car is doing most (hopefully all soon enough) of the heavy lifting when driving.

As we've stated elsewhere, not everyone wants to use voice control. Plus, what if the passenger wants to open the glovebox? They can't exactly reach across and enable voice commands on the steering wheel... the obsession with voice commands is stupid.
@@WhichEV So instead of the glove box opening manually with a physical mechanism on the glove box, its on the control center, which is actually just as easy for the passenger to use as the driver. Matter of fact, it makes opening it for the driver less of a reach. Sounds like you are just old school, which is fine, and like the manual aspect of physical levers and buttons. Your opinion on the voice command helps show this as well.

@@WhichEV Does the rear bumper still fill up with water and rubbish?
@@Sb99992 Yes. That adds to the cargo capacity. It's a feature.

It’s funny to see what the older generation isn’t exactly thrilled with. Yet the younger generation who I would imagine Tesla is targeting would love these new updates and features. One small example being the chrome exterior delete option. Regardless very thorough review! Thank you for sharing.
When you say "older generation" bear in mind who can actually afford to buy a new Tesla. It's not 25-year-olds!

That's about 40k - 50k.
Which currency?
Very informative video. Just the audio was a bit "echoey".
Believe it or not, the mic stopped working and we only realised when the car had gone back to Tesla. We had to do lots of treatment because the sound was from the camcorder directly and not the lapel mic. Still far from perfect but better to put out in this form than not at all!
Thanks! See you comment above...
Agree. Very echoey
am i tripping or is the audio fucked up 14:10
We had some problems with the mic - check other comments.
teslas are cool but I can't get past the length of those trousers.
They were nice and warm and it was 0C that day.
its a beauty
The white and black trim goes well together.

Great review cover lots that others don't, but the "woke leather" comment seems a bit petty, Veganism and caring for the environment would seem to be something that might appeal to Tesla's target market? Still gave you a like despite the anti-vegan comment, despite stereotypes we can take a joke!
Most people find that funny. We don't mean any offence to Vegans! It's just British humour... Clearly the reason why Tesla switched was because it was better for the company's target market. I believe earlier Tesla models did use leather for seats.
And thanks for the like!
Good review.
Thanks!

Any review that bleats on about everything being in the touch screen, without ever mentioning the well developed voice control, is missing a crucial feature
But it's not very good if you don't have an American accent. I own a Tesla myself and last time I tried to use the voice control to call someone (yesterday) it played a Spotify playlist instead. It never does what I expect when trying to adjust the windscreen wipers. It's just not fit for purpose.
Great!
Thanks!
I can tell he just hates Tesla for no reason.
Really? He owns one.
stfuuuu🤣🤣this mans drilled the whole track😭😭
We actually have no idea what you're talking about.
The interior noise insulation is crap at 60 mph and above compared to some Hyundai ev
Build quality is improving but is still below par.
The majority of buyers seem willing to overlook that!
get a pop filter bruh
We had problems with the audio on this one. We've changed our equipment since then.
Volkswagen will beat Tesla this year with their New Electric cars. Mutch cheaper than Tesla. Tesla is stil ahead tecnicaly but the VW INSIDE is mutch nicer.
They mostly address different markets at the moment. This will change when the "$25,000 Tesla" arrives. That will be directed squarely at VW.
@@WhichEV Don't think so. VW can produce far more than Tesla and the new cars are mutch more practical for daily use. For a small group Tesla will be favoret but for the European middle class Tesla is no longer something they want.
8:18 shamelessly stolen from Mercedes? This is a car from the USA, where this kind of ‘shift’ stalks are very common. I wonder where Merc came up with their idea then? Yes, I know Merc used this in the 70’s, but it ain’t exclusive.
And the comments on the keycard and the cumbersome chair controls are laughable. Anyone who drives this car daily will have a smartphone connected. Which comes with the user profiles option. So you have to set all your options just once. Get with the program please. Or just go for the Polestar I guess.....
I own a Mercedes and the stalk for the auto box is EXACTLY the same as on the Model S and X. They are literally Mercedes parts: forums.tesla.com/discussion/46331/how-much-mercedes-is-in-a-tesla I also own a Tesla Model 3 and I don't use the smartphone option because it's much easier to clone the entry key with that.
@@WhichEV you literally say in your video: “the right hand steering wheel stalk, a SYSTEM shamelessly stolen from Mercedes.” So not the actual part, which isn’t Mercedes anyway in this particular model, but the chosen system for engaging the drive modes or shifting as you will. And with regards of the use of the keycards; you really should’ve chosen the Polestar, which seems better suited for people who can’t decide between being an early adopter and the feel of their ICE.
@@Dumdadum76 The steering wheel stalk on the Model S and X are Mercedes parts. Tesla has then carried on the same system to the Model 3, which uses the same method but a Tesla part. Not sure why you're being so argumentative about this keycard business either. Are you in the US by any chance? In the UK, Teslas have a high insurance premium because they are very easily stolen, due to the ease with which their keyless entry can be cloned. Someone in a nearby street had his S stolen last year precisely in this way. Personally, I've chosen not to use the phone because it minimises the threat of this happening. Nothing to do with ICE. The VW ID.3 has a system to prevent cloning happening. In this area, they are ahead of Tesla.
@@WhichEV the keycards work with NFC, which is easily clonable. Which is well documented. The keyfob for the model S can also be cloned just as easy. The app communicates via bluetooth, which can also be hacked in 2 minutes. So, all solutions are equally unsafe. This is bc of the Tesla implementation. Why didn’t you just choose a Polestar?
Look man, just take my comments as is, but maybe consider it and take it into account for your next review.
His review is a "shit sandwich" effort. A lot of misguided negative comments.
Rubbish. The reviewer actually owns a Tesla Model 3 and loves it. So clearly you got the wrong impression. It's just not a complete fanboy review. Was that what you were after?
I stand by a "shit sandwich" review. Sounds like someone worked hard to not sound like a fanboy. An honest review with the correct information would have been nice. Instead, we got conjecture and inaccurate information along with the negatives and a sprinkle of positive (yano, to not appear to be a fanboy).
@@topcat4265 Beg to disagree. You have to talk about the negatives. This is an honest review from someone who actually owns a Tesla Model 3, but isn't a cultist.
