I am kind of surprised when he said that people love to hate on Glover. I have never heard anyone say overly negative about it. Most people I have heard talk about seem to say that, while not the best, Glover is a pretty enjoyable game. It is interesting how people seem to live in different spheres.

I remember this game going from 'kinda frustrating' to genuinely 'pretty fun' the moment I turned off the setting that reversed your controls when you stood on top of the ball. That one change alone made ALL THE DIFFERENCE for me, turning Glover from an exercise in frustration to a moderately enjoyable experience.
If Jirard never made that change in the settings then it's no wonder the controls frustrated him.

Yeah, I wondered what he was talking about. I always played it with non-reversed controls. Reversed controls are horrible for gaming. You can do reversed X axis for flying, but that's about it.

I played Glover a lot as a kid because it was the game that came bundled with my N64. I loved the novel game mechanics that required you to transform or even abandon the ball to solve puzzles, but I never did finish the game and was convinced one couldn't without cheat codes. I also remember the controls being a hot mess, but this game still holds a strange place in my heart.

I do believe Jirard is the first G-Fuel sponsor person I know who has actively explained what the hell G-Fuel even is. Angry Joe has been sponsored by them many times, and I still had no idea what it actually was. Even Google wasn't much help. But here we have Jirard, within the first 20 seconds, loud and clear, explaining "it's a supplement that you mix in with your drink". Thank you, that's all I wanted to know! Did Joe just assume that everyone already knew that? I mean I could probably look at the packaging and put 2 and 2 together, but even then, selling a product means that YOU are responsible for 110% clearly communicating what EXACTLY it is you sell, even including "common sense" details so that even dimwits like me understand what you are selling.

To be fair, most N64 games controlled like a greased cannonball. A lot of people our age are inundated with nostalgia when it comes to the old grey box but those controllers were absolute trash when it came to finesse movements.

A blast from my past! This was one of the first video games I ever played (I grew up on an N64 and played “Goldeneye 007”, “Glover”, “Pokémon Stadium one” and “Pokémon Snap” I can’t remember which among them was my first).

since they were mentioned in the beginning, it's worth saying that piko interactive is not a supporter of games preservation and has a history of sending takedown notices to actual game preservationists keeping ROMs ( even ones that differ in build from ones they own / plan on releasing ) in order to monopolize access to them, actively don't believe that unfinished / unreleased / prototype games deserve to be preserved as-is, and replace logos from the original studios with their own branding for their lazy ports, among many other things. they're not a great company, and the shit they've been up to is very easy to find. they're very proud of being awful for games preservation lol

I had to stay in a hospital when I was just old enough to start remembering things. I know now that there was an n64 in the room and the game I was playing was Glover, but before I figured it out, all I remembered was that hellscape of a hub world

Glover is a game I owned when I was young, thought it was just kind of okay, then traded it for 30 or so Pokemon Trading Cards including a Golem which I didn't have, not the worst deal in the world
...now giving away Smash 64 along with it was where it became a dreadful deal and I wouldn't own Smash 64 and Glover until almost a decade later

I remember being a kid and playing Glover and loving it. However, I never got past the first world and spend most my time in the overworld area. I don't know if I would actually enjoying playing it as an adult, but nostalgia has me wanting to pick up the new release. I love the music and have fun memories of it but I do agree it is far from a great game.

Man, I loved Glover as a kid. Honestly can't think of anyone in my inner circle that dislikes it either. It's certainly clunky, I'll give you that, but man the charm of this game still sticks with me.

It's seems I'm not alone in this, but I freaking LOVED this game as a kid. Picked this one up from blockbuster and I thought it was superior to Mario at the time. Obviously I don't now or anything, but I look back at this fondly

I remember renting this from my local video store, playing it for 30 minutes, begging my mother to be able to go back because my store, like others I imagine, had a trade-in if you were not happy with the rental by the end of the first day, the store had 3 and 5 day rental periods on video games. She relented and I went back and rented Super Mario 64 instead. I hadn't played it at that point although it had been out for over a year or so. I always felt I made the right choice.

This was such a fantastic game! It may not be the easiest at first, but it has so many clever mechanics. It's a journey, and an experience to beat this title for sure. I dont think this is a bad game personally, it's just misunderstood. I appreciate the art style, the music, sound effects, puzzles, and the overall story and mechanics are just genius, and have not been used again since. It IS a hard game but hard does not equal bad.

Glover was so ambitious, that if it was measured in weight, the game would be crushed under its own ambition. Needs a lot of work, but glover can be its own stand alone game.

My brothers and I loved Glover. We never owned it. We would rent it from the local Hollywood Video. However we were little and never got far.
As a nostalgic run we bought it as adults and beat it and it was so disappointing. When I told my brother completionist did a video he said "Yeah Glover is so nostalgic, but it's nostalgic for the blockbuster era where no one had time to realize how bad it was."

I remember having this as a kid and I just never got too far into it. So when I saw this video I had to watch. Turns out there might have been a reason why child me never finished this game as a kid
It's really good that it's on steam for those who loved it as a kid. Most games will have someone who has deep nostalgia for it. So I am happy for them. I just wish some of the games from my childhood would be gotten on modern systems
