I love how many cereals fall into the realm of "how much sugar can we put into this and still qualify it as breakfast". I actually haven't eaten cereal for breakfast in nearly 20 years because it'd frequently make me sick to eat that early in the morning, and the summer before first grade, I learned how to cook frozen breakfast sandwiches in the microwave I think my sisters may eat it for breakfast, but all three of us are actually more likely to pour a bowl of dry cereal to have as an afternoon snack
I LOVED snacking on dry sugary cereal. Never ever ate it with milk; the thought of sweetened milk grossed me out lol I only poured milk on Cherrios or Rice Krispies. Anything without the sugar coating.
@@SukiNoKoe When I was in kindergarten, my dad made me eat cereal for breakfast every morning, and he drank whole milk while my mom and I drank skim. One morning, we were out of skim and he made me use his milk That event turned me off from milk with cereal
For some reason, eating dry cereal injures my tongue. It won’t injure it from the first bite but after a few mouthfuls, it starts to cut into my tongue and I end up tasting blood :( The last time it happened was with the roasted oat puffs cereal (forgot the name). Also happens to me with eating hard candy sometimes especially m&ms. It’s why I stick to gummi :/
One cereal I remember that got discontinued was the Cinnabon cereal. My siblings and I really loved Cinnamon Mini Buns cereal, so when that stopped showing up at our local super market, we hoped this would taste just the same. It did not, the texture was all wrong and it tasted most of hazelnut. Fortunately an actual Cinnabon is something I always look forward to eating whenever I go to the mall. I still miss Cinnamon Mini Buns to this day and can still remember the taste. I really hope it comes back one day, or a cereal that captures its taste.
I remember actually seeing Pokemon breakfast cereal sold in a local grocery store. And, this was the original one, with monsters from the first generation, including oddish, which is a grass-and-poison-type pokemon. Clearly, the producers of that cereal didn't put much thought into their product. I only bought a box for the novelty, and never ate any of the cereal.
Back around 1984, there was also a DONUTS cereal. I even had the mail-in frisbee from it. All I can remember was that it tasted good, but was extremely sweetened. Didn't last on the shelves for long...
As someone who loves cereal and as someone who works in a grocery store in the untied states in the cereal aisle I can speak on the Dunkin’ cereal. In like the year or so of carrying it like no one bought it, it never sold in that time I stocked it maybe a half dozen times
I remember my sister buying the Dunkin cereals and because we're New Englanders we were basically legally required to try them 😂 They were really good, but Caramel was definitely my favorite
Personally, I like a good mild coffee flavor treat. I used to have a favorite coffee flavored hard candy until it disappeared from my local grocery. I still like coffee-nut M&Ms and tried some coffee Oreo cookies. A coffee flavored cereal sounds good to me.
I remembered cupcake pebbles. Even though the cereal is mainly a lot of sugar, close enough to some cereal options out there. I remembered when I was kid that my dad got us some, and I absolutely loved them and that they tasted like vanilla cupcake. I do prefer fruity pebbles more than the cupcake ones, but the cupcake pebbles were actually pretty good from my experience on them. I do wish that the cereal could make a comeback, but unfortunately I don’t eat much sugar as I used to, and usually stick to frosted mini wheats more often.
I think I know one reason the Spongebob cereal didn't catch on for long. If you want a cereal with nautical marshmallows, you can get a big bag of Marshmallow Mateys, which is basically Malt-O-Meal's version of Lucky Charms. It is a lot cheaper that the SB cereal probably was, and it has a larger assortment of nautical marshmallow shapes. And it tastes at least as good as Lucky Charms.
As someone who’s admittedly a sugar (mostly chocolate) addict, I’ll admit I’ll gladly try most of these. EDIT:also, a few cereals still have the the Turing milk green is still a gimmick in some cereals, a good example is Captain Crunches Halloween Crunch.
I remember when I got a box of sour patch cereal from Walmart just because it looked interesting, but when you actually try it with milk it's almost like the milk is spoiled because of the sourness the cereal adds. My grandparents got mad at me for not finishing the cereal.
Typical Grandparents: Grandma: I spent Simoleons on this cereal you better finish it! Grandchild: Yeah? try it yourself! Grandparents: ok your right that cereal is pretty awful!

Being British, I didn’t have “loud” and “sweet” cereals as much. I had kind of the generic ones like Coco Pops, Rice Crispies & Corn Flakes. I am curious to try the Dunkin Donuts cereal as I love coffee and it does look nice on the box. ☕️☕️☕️
Pop Tarts Crunch and Cupcake Pebbles are delish. I'm surprised that there was no mention of the butchered version of Rice Krispies Treats (or the ones with the stale mini marshmallows) that killed the cereal because Kellogg's refused to admit that they made a mistake.
Speaking of Rice Krispies, there used to be Halloween ones with orange and black Rice Krispies, but I haven't seen them since the early 90s? Yet every December I see Holiday Rice Krispies. Why?! I loved making Halloween themed Rice Krispies Squares, and now all I can make are the regular and holiday versions.
I do remember seeing sour patch kids cereal and I was like WTF that looks extremely disgusting who in the right mind wants to eat some sour cereal with milk 🥛
9:10 Canada actually has a law where cereal based around cartoon characters or movies are basically banned. The only exceptions was if it was like Cheerios tying in with a movie release or Fruity Pebbles which has returned to store shelves in January 2022
Dude, they literally sell the Sour Patch Kids cereal at the Fry's sown the block from where I live! I wouldn't touch it myself tho. Just the thought of eating sour cereal really makes me feel a tad bit nauseous... 🤢
I don't blame you. Some of the cereals they covered in this video made me happy I have mostly moved away from eating it for breakfast as I've gotten older
This just made me remember how much I miss King Vitamin cereal. We barely got sugary cereals as kids, and I'm very thankful for that. I think we got the Nintendo one once and mostly just ate the Mario kind, because we weren't familiar with Zelda. We did like the 80s Dunkin Donuts cereal, though.
The weirdest thing is, it didnt technically come back, but apple jacks currently has a green slime variant out right now that turns the milk a sickeningly green color
i remember most of these cereals as i grew up in the 80's and 90's, though i don't recall how any of them tasted very well, i believe the pop-tarts cereal was ok, not great, but not terrible. i obviously ate the TMNT cereal too, and i imagine if i used a time machine to get a hand of a fresh box today i probably wouldn't like it lol
I feel sorry for your stomach. I had the knock off large bags of fruti peddles, coco peddles, froot loops and my favorite captain crunch. I gained so much weight at that time but it was a super cheap breakfast.
@@3arthandsky cereals are high in sugar for sure so you can gain weight, honestly pop-tarts are the worst for that, these days i have a gluten-free diet though so i only eat chex
Ugh, I loved the Sour Patch Kids Cereal! I ate them dry. They were a great snack! Unfortunately, Post was releasing so many great tasting cereals at the same time, between Oreo O’s, Mega Stuf Oreo O’s (my favorite that was sadly discontinued), Golden Oreo O’s, Chips Ahoy!, Sour Patch Kids, Nutter Butter and others to where I couldn’t support them all at the same time. When they discontinued Mega Stuf Oreo O’s, I contacted Post directly and they confirmed it was discontinued, as was Sour Patch Kids. 😞 One cereal I really miss was Smurfs cereal from the 80s. I have never been able to find a suitable replacement and I distinctly remember the flavor. It was like Strawberry and Blue Raspberry flavored and it was sooo good.
I swear one thing on youtube that always makes me happy is seeing my favorite youtubers crossover like you and the critic or other examples like the game grumps and markiplier it's just good to see my favorites interacts😁
I miss Frosted Rice Krispies. Thing is we used to have cereal when watching Saturday morning cartoons. Since most channels don't have that, kids didn't get ushered into getting up in the morning to rush to watch their favorite shows. Watching Wacky Races and other cartoons from that generation aren't the same. The only thing that came close was watching South park episode "Handicar". You noticed all the adults were in their jammy jams and grabbed a bowl of cereal.
Honestly, I'm a big fan of the dunkin donuts cereals. I can taste caramel and mocha alongside the coffee flavor, and it's nice as an occasional thing to eat. I had no idea cereal was trending downward. It's kind of disheartening as a person who grew up on having cereal in the morning, even if I do have something else for breakfast these days. I'd like to think cereal could still be kept around, but instead of a breakfast item, maybe a dessert type thing? I've seen people use it as a topping for ice cream and frozen yogurt.
There was one limited run cereal I remember from when I was about seven or eight years old that I really wish was permanent. My mom and I both loved it. It was a Winnie the Pooh cereal shaped like the honey pots, and it had a honey flavoring. But like, you could actually taste the honey; not like Honey Nut Cheerios where there’s just like a mild hint. It was so good and I was so disappointed that it was a limited run thing. Also Strider, please make a list of best Canadian cartoons!
Legit I tried the Sour Patch cereal. My local 99 Cents Store had plenty of stock so I went for it. Boy oh boy. It was much better without milk, but once you added the milk it was just disgusting
@@Aironites I think people that enjoy the taste of sour milk are the ones with bad taste buds, man. Like I said it's definitely fire without the milk but when you add the element of the crystals making your milk taste spoiled it loses all fire-ability
I actually remember having the Nintendo cereal. From my dim memories, the Mario and Zelda cereals basically tasted like the old version of Trix. Vaguely fruity in a stale sort of way.

Never forgot that Pop Tarts Crunch commercial! Total ear worm!🤣 I liked the Nintendo cereal when I was a kid and yes they were fruit and berry flavored, but it cut up the roof of your mouth like Cap’n Crunch.
I heard about the sour patch kids cereal and I did see it in a grocery store. But I never got it and you can guess why. The idea of your milk becoming sour is just disgusting. Just because Lucky Charms works with having marshmallows in the cereal doesn’t mean you can put sour patch kids in there. Plus, I barley ever eat cereal anymore
I literally only remember frosties, the rest of the cereals are a bit later and by that time I was grabbing a toast and coffee before racing out the door.

It’s really comfortable being able to sit down and relax without it ending before I find the coziest spot in my pillow, and you’re such a calming narrator with a great sense of humor!! There was this one Christmas Captain Crunch cereal back in the 90s that made your milk into cake frosting and I remembered it being absolutely disgusting. It was so bad that it made my mom puke and I remember getting home from school that day finding that it was "mysteriously" gone.
Lucky Charms tastes like a bootleg of what it was supposed to be... I've always preferred the "generic" bag called Marshmallow Mateys. The actual cereal part doesn't taste like cardboard. SpongeBob tastes very similar to that one.
I love Dunkin' Donuts cereal. I don't usually drink coffee, but I enjoy sweets very much. Funny how Amelia Bedelia had the right idea of making "cereal with coffee".

I went on a tour of Nickelodeon Studios when I was a kid back in 1990. Part of the tour was seeing the kitchen where green slime was made, and we got to eat it! It was so good! The best vanilla flavor I've ever had!
Strider/Critic collabs are wholesome as heck. Also I remember eating the SpongeBob cereal way back in 2004 and remember loving the hell out of it.
I have my problems with critic but I will admit that with strider pulling down his energy it is a very fun experience
@@justanotheranimeprofilepic that’s true I guess 😅 I’m still uncomfortable though
Me too. There was even a Kellogg's variant of the stuff.
I miss the 2000's.
@@gracekim1998 Is critic bad?? I never watched him
Some of these cereal concepts remind me of a joke from IT Crowd:
Jen: "Moss, what did you have for breakfast?"
Moss: "Smarties Cereal"
Jen: "Oh my god...I didn't know Smarties even made a cereal!"
Moss: "They don't, it's just Smarties in a bowl with milk"
I just discovered your channel a few days ago by accident. Absolutely love your content! Keep up the great work, mate 👍
You should have been an Australian version of Patchy the Pirate. I wonder how that would go in the SpongeBob multiverse
Ooo yeah😊

@@liamtheman2099 that’s a good one.
I love how many cereals fall into the realm of "how much sugar can we put into this and still qualify it as breakfast". I actually haven't eaten cereal for breakfast in nearly 20 years because it'd frequently make me sick to eat that early in the morning, and the summer before first grade, I learned how to cook frozen breakfast sandwiches in the microwave
I think my sisters may eat it for breakfast, but all three of us are actually more likely to pour a bowl of dry cereal to have as an afternoon snack
One morning, we were out of skim and he made me use his milk
That event turned me off from milk with cereal
@@wizwitch5318 EW WHOLE MILK IS GROSS lol I'm sorry that happened to you xD
For some reason, eating dry cereal injures my tongue. It won’t injure it from the first bite but after a few mouthfuls, it starts to cut into my tongue and I end up tasting blood :( The last time it happened was with the roasted oat puffs cereal (forgot the name). Also happens to me with eating hard candy sometimes especially m&ms. It’s why I stick to gummi :/
@@marieso2293 Ouchie :( maybe have a doctor look at it...a tongue that bleeds that easily is a concern...
Try the big snax ones they might be good
@@oliviaburge9579 Thanks, I'll give them a shot!
It's awesome to see Doug and Strider in a collab again :)
i agree
As someone who loves cereal and as someone who works in a grocery store in the untied states in the cereal aisle I can speak on the Dunkin’ cereal. In like the year or so of carrying it like no one bought it, it never sold in that time I stocked it maybe a half dozen times
I remember my sister buying the Dunkin cereals and because we're New Englanders we were basically legally required to try them 😂
They were really good, but Caramel was definitely my favorite
Personally, I like a good mild coffee flavor treat. I used to have a favorite coffee flavored hard candy until it disappeared from my local grocery. I still like coffee-nut M&Ms and tried some coffee Oreo cookies. A coffee flavored cereal sounds good to me.
3:35 That's why you always had a banana on your desk, when you reviewed foreign cartoons 🤣
Interesting how he went from being confused and unenthusiastic to being super eager to help out anyway
EDIT:also, a few cereals still have the the Turing milk green is still a gimmick in some cereals, a good example is Captain Crunches Halloween Crunch.
and the fictional Reptar cereal, which I think we did eventually got

"Marshmallow Sh*t"
Ok... I have the Same
Reaction the PhantomStrider,
And NostalgiaCritic have!
I remember when I got a box of sour patch cereal from Walmart just because it looked interesting, but when you actually try it with milk it's almost like the milk is spoiled because of the sourness the cereal adds.
My grandparents got mad at me for not finishing the cereal.
Typical Grandparents:
Grandma: I spent Simoleons on this cereal you better finish it!
Grandchild: Yeah? try it yourself!
Grandparents: ok your right that cereal is pretty awful!
Always a joy when you do a crossover with Nostalgia Critic. Great vid!
13:47 OK I cannot stop laughing. THEY ALLOWED THAT TO AIR???
Hey man, I'm loving the banned/discontinued/controversial food topics you've been doing. It's always fun seeing things from the past that I've heard of or never heard of.
Also loving the collaborations with Nostalgia Critic! Hopefully you'll continue to do more of these topics, as well as more collaborations with Nostalgia Critic.
Speaking of Rice Krispies, there used to be Halloween ones with orange and black Rice Krispies,
but I haven't seen them since the early 90s? Yet every December I see Holiday Rice Krispies. Why?!
I loved making Halloween themed Rice Krispies Squares, and now all I can make are the regular and holiday versions.
I love these food videos! They're so informative and I love how you treat every option with respect
I do remember seeing sour patch kids cereal and I was like WTF that looks extremely disgusting who in the right mind wants to eat some sour cereal with milk 🥛
Then Sour Patch Kid ice cream came out. Also, there's Sour Patch Kid popcorn now.
I ate that cereal daily probably due to how much I ate sour patch that the cereal was just sweet
Honestly, the sour patch kids ice cream made more sense. The cereal just sounded bleh to me.
I actually ate that stuff for a while
I was disgusted, seeing it on shelves. Tried it and I was surprised. I couldn’t understand why it was good-
9:10 Canada actually has a law where cereal based around cartoon characters or movies are basically banned. The only exceptions was if it was like Cheerios tying in with a movie release or Fruity Pebbles which has returned to store shelves in January 2022

It’s actually said
“Lots of fruity marshmallow shapes!”
And to us it said
“Lots of fruity marshmallow shits!”
While not a failure, did you guys know there's a WENDY'S cereal?? Not even McDonald's had a cereal.😂
Idk, I wanna try it
I may have a problem but I ate sour patch cereal regularly back in 2019
Honestly I’d try it as a snack or candy. Just never with milk.
It makes my day every time Strider uploads! And Nostalgia Critic guest starring?!?! Heck yeah!!!!
ya who cares if he let his male staff molest and abuse his female staff lets keep supporting NC
”nya nya” Changed my life. 0:01 was so beautiful. I cried so hard. Including 0:01 was too nice. Thank you!
The weirdest thing is, it didnt technically come back, but apple jacks currently has a green slime variant out right now that turns the milk a sickeningly green color
Sour patch cereal is hard to find? That's surprising. Peanutbuttergamer seemed to find it pretty easily!
I'd honestly assume a lot of scalpers bought them beforehand.

I liked that cereal better than the peeps cereal-
I loved that cereal

i remember most of these cereals as i grew up in the 80's and 90's, though i don't recall how any of them tasted very well, i believe the pop-tarts cereal was ok, not great, but not terrible. i obviously ate the TMNT cereal too, and i imagine if i used a time machine to get a hand of a fresh box today i probably wouldn't like it lol
I feel sorry for your stomach. I had the knock off large bags of fruti peddles, coco peddles, froot loops and my favorite captain crunch. I gained so much weight at that time but it was a super cheap breakfast.

Those birthday cake pebbles were really good man.
PhantomStrider never fails to make my day. Keep up the good work!
Been loving these types of lists lately strider!
Maybe if you miss the flavour of them, try adding honey to honey nut cheerios to maybe increase the honey flavour.
Really glad these food videos are working out, I'm super enjoying them
"Lots of fruity marshmallow shits"

Really love that you didn't have any fake rivalry in this, no taking pointless jabs at each other's countries or opinions. Very refreshing.
Legit I tried the Sour Patch cereal. My local 99 Cents Store had plenty of stock so I went for it.
Boy oh boy.
It was much better without milk, but once you added the milk it was just disgusting
My Advice: Eat It Plain.
Me too. I forgot the taste but my sister remembered that I said, that it tasted like battery acid
Bro wdym that stuff was fire but people just have trash taste buds
@@Aironites I think people that enjoy the taste of sour milk are the ones with bad taste buds, man. Like I said it's definitely fire without the milk but when you add the element of the crystals making your milk taste spoiled it loses all fire-ability
I've been watching your top tens since I was a kid and it's so nice to see you keep posting :')
I actually remember having the Nintendo cereal. From my dim memories, the Mario and Zelda cereals basically tasted like the old version of Trix. Vaguely fruity in a stale sort of way.
I remember that cereal! I remember the marshmallows being a bit hard.
I haven't watched Nostalgia Critic in many years but this was really nice.
10:40 Oh I know! Every time I open up the ol’ fridge and see a 2% carton of the stuff, I just, JUST, AUGHHHHGHGH!!! SO SCARY!!

I liked the Nintendo cereal when I was a kid and yes they were fruit and berry flavored, but it cut up the roof of your mouth like Cap’n Crunch.

YAY! MORE FOOD COUNTDOWNS! I love this channel so much 😊❤
The slime cereal reminds me of those green Shrek Twinkie things. It’s literally impossible to put either in your mouth without your mind adding snot to the taste. Ugh!

Another great work Strider! Thank you for making such well informed and entertaining videos! Stay Amazing!
There was this one Christmas Captain Crunch cereal back in the 90s that made your milk into cake frosting and I remembered it being absolutely disgusting. It was so bad that it made my mom puke and I remember getting home from school that day finding that it was "mysteriously" gone.
Green Slime cereal doesn't surprise me, what does surprise me is that it came out in 2003.
I've eaten the SpongeBob cereal when I was a kid. It just tasted like a bootleg Lucky Charms. It wasn't bad, though.
Lucky Charms tastes like a bootleg of what it was supposed to be... I've always preferred the "generic" bag called Marshmallow Mateys. The actual cereal part doesn't taste like cardboard. SpongeBob tastes very similar to that one.
