Oh fuck dude. THAT episode was some really freaky shit and when I read that my mind blinked to her arms dragging and her gaping the suit as it STUMBLED along. That is disturbing now, when I was younger it was just odd.
I spoke to someone who used to write on the show and asked him about this theory and he essentially said it's a kids show that doesn't have a dark setting and that people will find whatever they want if they look deep enough and only see what they want to see.
They could argue that point, but it's not uncommon for kids media to have darker subtext. Puss in Boots the Last Wish had some, and so did Hunchback of Notre Dame. Kung Fu Panda, Meet the Robinsons, Teen Titans, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Over the Garden Wall, and Adventure Time are just some. They might not be as unhinged as this skin theory, but they still had and have dark settings that would typically be for adults, but they toned it down to be kid friendly. We use euphemisms to make indirect statements about a thing or topic to lessen the harshness of a topic, especially for kids. They can say that it's not there and never intended for it to be there, but that doesn't mean it can't be there. For a kids' show, SpongeBob really has a lot of moments with ripping off skin and ripping off others skin like costumes. I'm not saying this theory is canon. Its just weird that it happens so much compared to a lot of other shows. Not like they can come out and state that this theory is correct without a change in rating anyway. Most likely visual gags at the end of the day. Plus, we need to stop treating children like they are brain dead. They like good stories too. Just because it's a kids show, isn't an excuse for lazy writing and screenplay. If anything, they should be held at higher standards because their brains are still developing.
True, but the segments of the show with Patchy The Pirate in it are clearly set on land and in the world and life that we live it. As we we see celebrities like Pink in the episode that I forgot the name of (sorry bout that). In Said episode the real actors are playing it and it confirms it is in our life that we live in. Yes, as much as patchy is just as much of a loveable goofball as the rest of the cast. We never see him in bikini bottom, but either above it or on the island shown on the title screen
51:23 One thing that I'm surprised wasn't pointed out here for causing the mass psychosis, is that Bikini Bottom is set in the Bikini Atoll, a former testing site for nuclear weapons. If I'm not mistaken, the shots of large explosions in the show are actually from nuclear tests at this exact atoll. Voice Actor for Spongebob has even joked that he doesn't think Spongebob and his friends are mutants after pointing out where Bikini Bottom is.
We all got same recommendations since we all have similar tastes. And from judging the content of this, I can guesd that we are around the same age, have seen similar content and like similar kind of thought provoking content. Tells you how are we all being categorized and classified.
I love how this entire conspiracy theory for Spongebob is PURELY a tribute first and an actual theory second, because those closing segments show that the guy who did all of this truly is a dedicated fan behind the massive shitpost. ...That being said, I feel like he just gave us classified government documents because he just disappeared without warning /lhj
THANK GOD IT WASN’T JUST ME. Save for David Hasselhoff in the movie, anytime real people interacted with Spongebob, it scared me. It just felt off and that feeling would eat at me until I’d fall asleep that night. The gorilla, Nosferatu, and even some of the Patchy segments freaked me out
God yes I couldn't watch it for years. Same goes for Nosferatu in the Graveyard Shift episode, or just any instance of cartoons and real life interacting that isn't something like Roger Rabbit. The Harvest Moon episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog is a great example.
The goddamn episode where the gorilla takes off a patrick skin suit scared the shit out of me as a child and when I seen the clip it unlocked hidden ptsd
So no one gonna talk about how we all just came across this random video, and its by some random account, and its just enough to be creepy theorizing, and over the top nothingness
At least I'm not the only one with the UA-cam algorithm randomly recommending me to witness an astounding and absurdly bat shit crazy Spongebob Square Pants Skin Theory video in 2024.
I can't believe he made this entire theory about skin suits and didn't so much as mention "someone's in the kitchen with Sandy" an episode revolving around the fact that Sandy's skin is removable
Ik he talked specifically about seasons 1-4 but in season 5 episode 6 “spy buddies” mr. krabs and plankton switch bodies for a bet. Also the final minute or so of the episode they show Patrick in a squidward suit, sandy suit, and spongebob suit also squid gets his face ripped off and spongebob wears a Patrick suit under his spongebob suit with another spongebob suit underneath. As if that’s already not confusing enough the last scene shows two identical Patricks at the same time...
Yeah but also he's a sponge which can regenerate. They make roughly the same joke several times (like when he rips his own skin off and it's still just him).
Yeah I guess it could’ve been intentional that they chose to have him voice a talking fish after he was already a voice actor on Spongebob, a show all about talking fish. But I think part of the reason he voiced the zebra was because he had already voiced Squillium
“No mention of religion” [completely forgets the time spongebob faced off against the literal Roman god of the sea king Neptune showing supernatural entities of deity quality already exist in the show]
To be fair he is called KING neptune for a reason, a good explanation is that SpongeBob monarchy is set it terms of sheer power, so since Neptune was incredibly strong since birth he was chosen for the role of king and started SpongeBobs monarchy
The example where spongebob rips off his skin to reveal an identical spongebob (16:39) is clearly a reference to the "superheroes ripping off their clothing to reveal their supersuits" cliche. I thought so, at least.
That episode came out in 2007 and I’m upset he never mentions it, because the theory of clinics for many different body parts is confirmed as an entire episode is dedicated to just that, along with the Human Nose Clinic reference in F.U.N
What about that one episode where Sandy literally and quite disturbingly rips off her fur (as if it were clothes) to take a shower with just her skin, but then Plankton steals her fur suit and wears it around like a costume??
The one where Mr. krabs and Plankton switch to see if Mr. krabs would be able to steal the formula from plankton Edit: Referring to episode called Spy Buddies from season 5 After re-watching the end, holy hell does this fit skin theory
I don’t get how so many people don’t get the “Mail fish” joke. Spongebob says “Hi, mail fish” and then the skins/costumes break and show that it is a FEMALE fish. It’s just word play, he says mail fish (male fish) and it turns out to be a female fish.
@@The_Mojave_Mailman Season 1 Neptune was a god (he repeatedly calls himself a god) but the first movie's Neptune was a King. Maybe Season 1's Neptune is the other one's father or something. Maybe the movie Neptune is a half god and it's a hercules situation. Or maybe more of a Jesus situation. Who knows.
there are literally two neptunes and a Poseidon. Series Neptune who is a god, same as poseidon, and 1st Movie Neptune who is a king. This is due to the movie holding rights that Nick didn't have for a long time, but those are two separated characters with two different families and roles and hinted to have some kind of feud that should be shown soon. But yeah, they pretty much are gods in bikini bottom

It's hurting me how he isn't-even the slightest bit-self aware. It was entertaining, but I think he's trying to apply logic to place where it doesn't belon-in a cartoon.
literally he’s asking me why the writers did things like have characters rip limbs off of each other and how no other tv show could’ve gotten away with this and i am like “...because it’s spongebob???” i mean, maybe it’s because ive watched this show my entire life but its like...none of these things seem out of the ordinary or peculiar to me.

The thing that really creeps me out is the fact that we’re all getting this recommended now and now the guy is nowhere to be found
Seriously lol
I'm starting to get really creeped out
He was on to something
It's obvious that Nickelodeon had him killed for this video
he knew too much
I spoke to someone who used to write on the show and asked him about this theory and he essentially said it's a kids show that doesn't have a dark setting and that people will find whatever they want if they look deep enough and only see what they want to see.
“The only humans on the show are mermaid man and barnacle boy”
Patchy the pirate: *sad pirate noise*
True, but the segments of the show with Patchy The Pirate in it are clearly set on land and in the world and life that we live it. As we we see celebrities like Pink in the episode that I forgot the name of (sorry bout that). In Said episode the real actors are playing it and it confirms it is in our life that we live in. Yes, as much as patchy is just as much of a loveable goofball as the rest of the cast. We never see him in bikini bottom, but either above it or on the island shown on the title screen
@@thecheesepants526 I think the episode with Pink in it is Truth or Square but I'm not too sure

One thing that I'm surprised wasn't pointed out here for causing the mass psychosis, is that Bikini Bottom is set in the Bikini Atoll, a former testing site for nuclear weapons. If I'm not mistaken, the shots of large explosions in the show are actually from nuclear tests at this exact atoll. Voice Actor for Spongebob has even joked that he doesn't think Spongebob and his friends are mutants after pointing out where Bikini Bottom is.

This theory is a sub theory of Magical Realism and doesn't just apply to sponge bob but all children's cartoons.
Maybe because he made his first appearance after season 4? idk man

I love how this entire conspiracy theory for Spongebob is PURELY a tribute first and an actual theory second, because those closing segments show that the guy who did all of this truly is a dedicated fan behind the massive shitpost.

I can't believe he made this entire theory about skin suits and didn't so much as mention "someone's in the kitchen with Sandy" an episode revolving around the fact that Sandy's skin is removable
it was in season 7 so I doubt they would put that in despite its extreme resemblance towards skin theory
That was one of the creepiest episodes ever
WHAT
Damn, I was creeped out when I watched that, the eye part was literally lifeless.
@Ryan Bergener thats kinda rude
This man really left out the episode where Patrick BUYS A NOSE THAT WOULD'VE BEEN SO HELPFUL HOW DID HE MISS IT
Ik he talked specifically about seasons 1-4 but in season 5 episode 6 “spy buddies” mr. krabs and plankton switch bodies for a bet.
And the one where Plankton steals Sandy’s skin and controls it to steal the secret formula
He also mentioned a nose-specific shop from F.U.N.
I'm fairly certain he explicitly stated that this wasn't an exhaustive list.
I WAS THINKING ABOUT THAT NOSE EPISODE FOR THE ENTIRE VIDEO
Spongebob eats his own arms. He has an entire bucket full of spares.
Yeah but also he's a sponge which can regenerate. They make roughly the same joke several times (like when he rips his own skin off and it's still just him).
I was literally JUST thinking about this
I mean, he can just grow it back
Yeah but sponge regrowth in reality is more like Deadpool so the rapid regrowth makes more sense with this theory

“I Had an Accident” aired in 2002, but American Dad did not premiere until 2005, so saying that it was a reference to support the theory ain’t sound.
That’s what I was thinking lol. Guess the writer’s weren’t crazy, they just knew the future
I was going to say the same thing
Also Bradley baker plays most of the side characters on spongebob
I think he meant it more of an ironic coincidence, then a striate up reference.
@@bluedog4754 thx blue dog
Actually, “I had an accident” first aired in 2002 and American Dad didn’t come out until 2005 so it wasn’t an intentional choice.

American dad didn’t come out until 05???

Or maybe skin theory is... more than skin deep!
Yeah I guess it could’ve been intentional that they chose to have him voice a talking fish after he was already a voice actor on Spongebob, a show all about talking fish.
But I think part of the reason he voiced the zebra was because he had already voiced Squillium
