The first Deus Ex is the best Deus Ex. Don't believe me? It's all in the numbers.
Do you have a single opinion to back that up?
Still one of the best PC game of all time.. top 20 perhaps 10..
You can't fight ideas whit bullets
yeah the placing keeps going down as more and more masterpieces get made but apart from some games like Half Life 2 not many can survive in peoples hearts and minds this long after being released
Old men. Running the world.
WHY CAN'T I LIKE THIS 1000 TIMES.
You can! Just make 1000 different youtube accounts!
Honestly in the 17 years since this game came out there hasn't been another video game with as much depth as Deus Ex.
Nier and a couple of others
@@LunarEntity video games in and of themselves are an art form
@@imreplyingtothiscomment2378 HAHAHAH What? Are you fucking drunk? What is it with Nier weebs?
I really think that you should play Metal Gear series !
Rdr 2 minus the linear mission structure
Oh fuck yes. You have no idea how much I love your retrospective series on GameTrailers. I ripped the videos to mp3 and some of them are still on my iphone to this day.
RETROSPECTIVES ARE BACK BAYBEEEE
ONLY IF YOU KEEP SUPPORTING THEM ON PATREON! GO TO PATREON.COM/EASYALLIES!!
YAAAAAAAA
The best thing to watch on old GT.com!
The original Deus Ex is easily in my top 3 favourite games ever. It is just an amazing experience. Unforgettable.
Oh shit!!!! Retrospectives are back!!! I love you guys!!!!
No way!!! The spirit of Gametrailers lives on!
20 years and still one of the best game I ever played.
"I didn't ask for this." but I'm so glad we got it! GT Retrospectives are still some of my absolutely favorite gaming related content ever made. When GT "went down", I ripped all of the them haha. Thanks Easy Allies! Love and respect!
This was my favourite part of old GT, great to see it back.
Great video! While the original remains my favourite for all the reasons mentioned, what really draws me to the whole series is, that it deals with the many real problems of our world. The games take place in a futuristic NYC, Paris or Prague, not in Skyrim or Azeroth. That's what makes them so special to me.
I can't tell ya how great it is to be able to press play on a brand-new Retrospective narrated by Brandon Jones and put together by the Easy Allies.
Great job to Huber and Brad on the script! That editing though takes me back to some of the classics from the GT days such as the wonderfully put together Final Fantasy, Zelda, Star Wars, Metal Gear Retrospectives and more!
Thank you for making this and look forward to more episodes, as well as more franchises to come up, and hopefully with some fan favorites possibly returning for updates! (Hoping for updates and reworks to the Final Fantasy Retros, personally!)
retrospectives are back. I can't thank you guys so much for bringing this back. Iv been with you guys for 13 years. fan for life.
This was incredibly well written and put together.
I'm also glad they didn't totally shit all over IW like I assumed they would.
IW is still better than the vast majority of games today
Isn't that the painful truth.
that's just plain not true lol
+Ilya Garulin name 5 games in the last year better than IW
I think because a retrospective is not meant to be a review or anything, just an honest look at the legacy of a franchise.
Man I am so grateful that you guys have found a new home on UA-cam. The game industry and gaming entertainment is much healthier for having you guys around. Great first Part!
I asked for this.
Best gaming show on UA-cam right here.
This is why I'm glad I'm supporting you guys. Awesome content like this. Glad to see the Retrospectives are back under the Easy Allies banner. Keep up the good work!
I always love how these retrospectives can get me interested in franchises I never would have looked at. Can't wait for the next episode.
I've had the original Deus Ex on steam for years now but never got around to playing it. Five minutes into this video and I know that's about to change.
gecko11130 I hope you enjoyed yourself as much as I did when I first played when I was like 5 years old
Huber slipping in an "Immersive Sim" Reference. Hype!
Chewie, we're home.
So pumped that Retrospectives are back. Best gaming series ever!
"Tune in next week" is exactly what you don't want in these videos, people could be watching this years from now and that dates it and could be confusing. FANTASTIC RETROSPECTIVE THO, glad I'm a patron
Didn't realize how much I missed Brandon Jones's voice! So glad the retrospectives are back. Lost count of how many times I've watched the Resident Evil and the epic Star Wars retros.
I'm playing this for the first time after finishing HR. I've not been immersed so much in a game in a long long time.
The best retrospectives in the net are back.
Awesome. Feels good to see a new retrospective!
Glad to see the return of retrospectives! And what a great series to bring it back with. Can't wait to see your guys' review of Mankind Divided!
Like all your retrospectives, you made me care about a game even if I never played it. This was no exception. Having no knowledge of this game, except some screen shots and box art, you made me get chills while watching. So glad to see these retrospectives back...don't mind me, I'll be watching all your old ones again today...
I know that these Retrospectives take a ton of effort to make, and I can't imagine how overtime you guys worked over the last couple of weeks to get this out before Mankind Divided, but thank you for continuing to make them. The history of making these video games is something so interesting but is rarely touched upon. I can't think of any other videos that delve into the development of classics like the Retrospectives do. They're special.
great work blood and brandon, blood especially. this is a crazy amount of work in the short time you did it.
glad to see retrospectives are back
oh i completely apologize then, fantastic work huber and brad! i've only heard/read about your involvement blood sorry for the mistake. great work on the allies all around
Retrospectives returns, The HYPE cannot be contained.
Awesome retrospective guys. Deus Ex is one of my top 5 series of all time.
I also remember reading somewhere that during development of the first game, the designer forgot to add the World Trade Center in the cityscape during development and they added in the game that it was destroyed by terrorists . . .it's a weird coincidence considering this game was developed the year before 9/11.
and is only a coincidence.
WE BACK BOYS!!! I'm glad you guys are back to doing Retrospectives. Don't see how you'll be able to stretch Deus Ex into an hour or so, but it is pretty deserving of a more in depth look, especially with the new one on the way. All in all, great choice for the rebirth of one of the best video series to exist within gaming.
Congratulations on your first Retrospective Easy Allies! Looking forward to next week and beyond.
So great to hear your voice doing retrospectives again Brandon. I've always enjoyed GT's Retrospectives, so I'm so glad they're not dead and gone.
Great to have your IPs back. Retrospectives were such a heart of Game Trailers especially with Jones' narration
freaking incredible writing plus the perfect timing!
well done allies!
No way! You are still doing retrospectives! Fantastic job. Best youtube channel at the moment.
Retrospectives are back :) Good part 1, those 23 minutes flew by. Can't wait till next week :)
So great to have retrospectives back! This is the first thing that EZA has produced that feels like it could have been made at GT - and that's a good thing!
I distinctly remember Spectre working on DX2 as well. he was giving interviews about it at the time
Good first retrospective for easy allies. Thanks guys!
First "GT" retrospective I've watched since 2009. I forgot how much I missed listening to this voice.
The retrospectives were always one of my favourite things on Gametrailers. Great to see you guys are bringing them back.
I'm so happy that this is back! Retrospectives were one of my favorite parts of GameTrailers. Looking forward to the future.
Great video. I think I finished this game between 20 - 30 times, and there's still new things to find in it. One of the greatest games ever.
Well done. Thank you! Only suggestion? "Tune in next week" dates the retrospective a great deal. I say this as someone who watches them repeatedly over the years.
You did a great service to my favorite game of all time. Thank you.
So happy to see Retrospectives. I used the game trailers Kingdom Hearts Retrospective to get back into the franchise after only playing through 1 and a bit of 2. Really excited for Pt 2 next week.
Haven't watched it yet, but I'm really glad to see a retrospective again
Really enjoyed the episode
Great restrospective, always going one step beyond other retrospective videos and go for the background and why of those games development
Just know that, knowing how limited your guys' resources are (need to train up the rest of the Allies into a crackshot team of editors!), this is an absolute testament to your hard work. Kudos, and a damn fine job.
Simp
Looking back, playing Zelda 64, Mario 64, the early RE games,MGS, FF7, Deus Ex just to name a few all within the span or 3-4 years. Just a great time to be a kid/ teenager playing video games.
Game Sleuth and now Retropectives?!
EZA...take all my money.
Holy shitting Christ. This is really nice to see guys. Retrospectives were my first "in" with Game Trailers, loved them back in the day. It's great to see it back ❤️
Hurray for Retrospectives!
This was my fave segment on GT so happy thanks huber, jones, blood and team
Loved it. Very much looking forward to part 2. I entered the series with human revolution but could certainly use a refresher before mankind divided.
Return of the Retrospective and what a masterpiece!
Love that you brought back retrospectives. Best part of Gametrailers. I learn lots lol. TY
It's been a LONG time, but I'm SO HAPPY Retrospectives are back! ❤
Man I missed retrospectives. Its been forever
Was so excited about this, I thumbed up all the comments I could see before posting.
Ugh, Retrospectives are SOO GOOD!
This was really well done and I'd love to see more like this from you guys going forward! Looking forward to part 2. Thanks!
I find it interesting how important Warren Spector's rockstar status was to making this game happen. Obviously as far as the game itself is concerned, it was a group effort with a lot of talented people. But as far as things like having John Romero say "Yeah, man, just make whatever the hell you want and we'll market it" and getting Gabe Newell to come playtest it? That's pretty cool.
Excellent work EZA, i'm so glad you get to do this kind of videos again, here's to many more to come. Btw i hope you can get Warren Spector to see this, maybe next E3 he would be glad to see Huber and hear about EZA.
Watched this 3x now. Excellent work EasyAllies
This was great always loved GT retrospectives. I've never actually played the original Deus Ex but must admit i'm very curious.
I'm glad that your retrospectives are back. Great job! Looking forward to more of these.
Go Easy Allies! Good to see the core ex GT team's never-say-die attitude.
Great series to bring back a awesome series with! Great choice choosing the Deus Ex series!!
OMG! Retrospective is back! THANK YOU ALLIES!
Thank you for doing this! I love these retrospectives, it's what kept me going back to GT in the day. I know how much I work these are, and I just want you to know it's appreciated.
This is what GameTrailers-- Easy Allies is all about, awesome series like these
Great to see these kind of Retrospectives back. I wish that you guys did a Doom one before the new game came out
Wow ! this is incredible! I had never hoped nor believed that I would experience another retrospective, but I did. And it was one of the better ones! I'll Patron next month after I get paid. You've delivered so much great content over so many years and I would feel honored to do something for showing me I was wrong. You really deserve that. I can't promise you much, but I would lie if I said that I didn't look forward to each video you put out. You guys simply understand how and what I feel about most games and you are capable of formulating it in a way that I just can't disagree with. I'm sorry about gametrailers.com, but in this way , at least you are free. Good luck, and I can't wait for the next episode! You guys have made my days so many times that I really feel obliged to you. Good luck :)
Yes! More retrospectives! If I may suggest one: Black Isle/Bioware games. It would be fun hearing about Torment, Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale and Fallout 1/2. (unless you guys already did this with GT, and I haven't seen it)
The Nameless Mod for original Deus Ex is pretty great too.
I'm excited these are back. The Final Fantasy one from GT is my favorite thing y'all did there.
I loved the retrospectives back on GT..glad to see they're back and still solid as ever :)
I'm so happy this exists
This is the greatest video ever. Long live Easy Allies. Please do more of them.
This was such a fantastic element of GT. Glad to see it's back.
I love this retrospectives! I hope you'll do many more in the future!
The return of Retrospectives. Love it.
Wow guys Incredible job. I have to be honest I thought the Retrospectives would have dipped in quality, but you guys did a great job. Good as if not better than the old ones.
Welcome back retrospectives, you were missed.
this is awesome! The only thing missing from this channel is popfiction now, keep up The Great job!
thank you for all your hard work EZA, this was perfection!
You know, taken out of context here, the songs in the soundtrack really hit hard. 15 years and a lot of taste growth later, I'm appreciating how indebted to Detroit techno the score really is.
Great work guys! These segments are the absolute best.
The original Deus Ex is really an amazing game that holds up really well. (I played it for the first time just before Human Revolution so it's not nostalgia talking). I liked Invisible War and Human Revolution as well so I can't wait to play Mankind Divided!
I had no idea y'all did this until just hearing about it on Cup of Jones and I'm super excited to watch this as soon as I get home.
Thank you for this perspective of this great game, hopefully others will enjoy it on the PC or PS2 I hope they will make a remastered of it I enjoyed it and the soundtrack was out of this world!
Wow so much work! Thanks for the great retrospective and bringing back many memories! Can't wait for Mankind Divided!
Is it possible to like the video more than one time!? Amazing job guys, you're the best!
Please do more retrospectives???? I love those
