    Holy shit this video was recommended to me by YT. Recognized the names of writer and editor and then heard the voice of the best reviewer ever. Then it struck me that maybe the GT team created a new channel all together. Prayed, opened the page and my prayers were answered. Made my weekend!!

    Really my only complaint with Mankind Divided is that the story didn't really feel that significant. Like the review said, it feels like an episode in an overarching season. Which, for a five year wait, isn't great. It's not a bad story, it just feels incomplete.

    The gameplay in MD is stellar and the level design is insane, but the story left me wanting a lot more. Like you said Bloodworth it feels more of an episode (an essential one at that) but doesn't have much of a payoff.

      @@tomhaswell6283 I certainly think there is reason to be optimistic, at least in terms of seeing a new Deus Ex game down the road. The brand value alone is enough for some developer to roll the dice on. I don't think the franchise is dead, but this particular series iteration seems to be. Maybe Eidos and CD can get back on the same page with it, and surprise us all with an announcement for some long awaited follow up, but I wouldn't hold my breath. They all but put a bullet in it's head over greed. There will most likely be more "Deus Ex" in the future, though. Just probably a bit removed from this version.

    Man this game and Humar Revolution are such fantastic games and such a refreshing change compared to most AAA games these days. These games are so much more unique and feels like such a rich world that makes you really believe in it. If you are new to this game or Human Revolution I highly recommend you give it about 4 hours if you feel like you don't like it. Human Revolution took me a bit to get into and have everything click but once it did, it became one of my favourite games of the whole generation! The choice of Augment upgrades can literally completely change your whole experience with the game and that makes the NG+ so much better since you'll still have some huge aug upgrades left to unlock for your second playthrough. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

    • @mattlandry

      David Ávila The point where it really clicked for me that it's one of the best games of the generation was when I was doing a side quest and this bartender gangster dude told me if I do this thing for him, he'd stop harassing this chick for money or something like that and when I worked the situation out in a way that works for everyone he fucked me over and still wouldn't stop harassing her unless I gave him an insane amount of money I'd never be able to obtain and there was nothing I could do about it. This really upset me the way he played me and talked to me so after I left the bar I said "You know what FUCK THIS" and went back in bearing a shotgun, went over to the bar and fucking blasted him right there. Everyone freaked out and guards were shooting at me and I just ran and escaped and the game and world continued on from there. It`s the freedom to make my own cool stories by mixing a good narrative and freedom to do what I want that makes this game so special. Sorry for the long ass comment I kind of got crazy there lol

      Yeah it's certainly shitty that Square Enix has been doing this kind of greasy stuff lately and if you look into it, turns out the devs didn't build the game around it and were forced to implement them late before release but luckily they made sure they don't impact gameplay whatsoever if you just ignore them. I actually never even saw the store page at all when playing the game so at least it isn't intrusive at all.
      The shitty dilemma is the fact that the developers do some amazing brilliant work and if their games don't sell, Square Enix will leave them without a job and the devs did nothing but make a great game and tried their best to not let the microtransactions fuck with it. The game already didn't do all that well so I bought the game to support the amazing work of the devs and hope they are rewarded with it. Cases like these suck because you can't boycott the publishers without also fucking over the great devs and all the little people using their amazing talent to make a living and give us great games.
      For sure it's greasy but it doesn't make the game any shittier in this case at least.

  • @TheDanielsliekmanis

    It has its flaws, like any game, but i was blown away by how much detail there is wherever you go, its not like theres less detail in places devs dont really expect you to go, so even if you stray off your road, there's still incredible amount of detail, which pleasantly blew me away.

    Brandon Jones, I was thinking that it would be really cool to see a behind the scenes look on how a review is made, maybe see a recording of an Allie playing the game, and whatever happens in between, do you have a conversation about what they wrote? Do you have to take multiple takes during recording (is there review bloopers?) I have followed GT and easy allies since halo 3 was announced, and never put much thought into the process, but now I'm curious.

    Glad you guys didn't have a problem with the smaller scope of the story! I too hope that the next game takes 3 or 4 years and not 5 like MD, and hopefully it fixes the issues this game didn't fix from HR, and the few that were introduced in MD!
    It's suit how people had complained about the length before it came out, I haven't even gone to Golem City yet and have probably put in more than 15 hours just wandering the city and uncovering everything I can. The sidequests are almost too good, because they pry me away from the story missions so easily that I worry I'll run out of them before I do the first real main mission. :p

      @Delsanar 8 років тому

      The fact they did not have a problem or factor into their score most of the issues is the real issue here. To ignore or hand wave these problems does nothing useful.
      Also stop it. Hours played has NEVER been a measure of quality or length of the story. The actual campaign takes 7 hours with the side content taking 3 hours or so if you must have a time to it. It is the padding, imbalances, difficulty variances, bugs, etc that add time, and more so if you go the stealth route. Exploring while not really adding much to the primary content and not being factored into the actual games decision engine, also takes more time.
      Further everyone goes through at a different pace.

    • @Boohahascaredyou

      All I meant was that I was glad it didn't bother them too much. I hadn't played the game much when I wrote the comment. I was just happy it didn't occur to them to be hugely detrimental to the game. Certainly I am glad many reviews have criticized this aspect, because it is a disappointment, but I was also glad that at least for Easy Allies, the game was still great in their opinion despite this problem.
      I never meant to say, "I'm glad they ignored this glaring issue, who cares about proper critiques am I right?" What I meant was basically, "Oh, despite the smaller scope, they still really liked the game, I'm glad that in Easy Allies' opinion, the game makes up for its problems through its quality in other aspects, that is reassuring."

    I still find it awkward the game shifts away from first person into third person. It seems the game would benefit from simply being third person. Especially considering stealth and cover mechanics work so much better as third person. And you get to see more special effects from some of the cool augs you get. Plus Jensen's just a badass looking character. I'd love to see him when I'm playing as him lol. I'm guessing there's a budget restraint or ugh, "tradition" stopping from this happening.

    • @Highwind452
      @Highwind452 8 років тому

      It is kinda weird because you can change Jensen's look which would really only be useful in 3rd person as a cosmetic change. sometimes traversing vertically in first person is a little wonky, so the choice for the 3rd person perspective would be a cool addition.

    I enjoy the game but it really feels that it should have been longer and that the story just ends before anything can amount to much. Plus I thought Machenko would be a zealot religious leader rather than just some Illuminati stooge

    Loved the game, but yeah, the ending felt abrupt. And now the series is on "hiatus". Guess we'll have yo wait another 4-5 years.

      ***** You gave this game such a high score, how could it not be the game of your dreams? 4.5/5 is almost a perfect score. That kind of description would go with a lower score no?

    • @Ramen117
      @Ramen117 8 років тому

      ***** I'd say your standards are too high then. Most games aren't perfect.

    • @Marko25Polo
      @Marko25Polo 8 років тому +4

      But the game of your dreams WOULD be perfect. Thats what "the game of your DREAMS" means.Its not like they are in plentifull supply either. What youre saying is we should all downgrade the "games of our dreams" to just "really good games" i.e not the games of our dreams..i.e stop dreaming. Like Blood said...i really dont get whats so hard to understand...

    Someday someone is going to rate this game and actually be like "It had some real issues.. I think I'll actually factor them in rather than hand wave them like all the game journalists no one trusts anymore do".
    YOU were not that instance of opportunity it seems.

    Adam Jensen is the most boring cardboard character ever and the story takes itself way too seriously. I'd like this game so much more if Jensen was a bit more of an arrogant, goofy action hero and the story was more of an espionage action romp.

    "Explorers dream". Can't go in there, there, there, there, there oh a door that actually opens. Can't go in here, or here or here or there or here. You can go where they have bothered to let you, not where you want to go. Not a explores dream at all. Very linear, very closed and it feels like I am in a box not a city in europe. What is the point of catching the train, I can walk across the map faster than it takes to load the train cut scene. HR was a far better game for atmosphere, story and content.

    I'm not digging the main character's club-bro faux hawk, and this is coming from a guy who loves anime and all the spikey hair that entails. Also, that voice. Take a lozenge bra.
